Davanni's is certainly a step up from the national pizza and sandwich joints, but it's also nowhere near some of the local shops with similar offerings. . Davanni's pizza leaves a bit to be desired in my opinion, about on par with what you'd expect from some of the national chains, if not slightly better. Mediocre pizza aside, they have a fairly large menu that is broad enough to appease those looking for something other than a pie. Their hoagies are generally quite good, reasonably priced and generally the cause for me stopping in. Overall, Davanni's is fine for what it is, though admittedly location, online ordering and the fact that they deliver are the main reasons for my patronage.

I came here with my co-worker for lunch. I had the calzone and it was pretty good and filling. There is a soda machine which was nice. Plus, there is plenty of seating for everyone. Overall, the menu was pretty extensive so there is something for everyone. Well, I can see why a lot of people like coming here- salads, calzones, and pizza. What's not to like...

Totally not worth it. We stopped in late in the afternoon, which was maybe a mistake. Or given the overall attitude of the people behind the counter, we would have gotten the same results at the peak of dinner rush. We walked in to 2 guys behind the counter, with no greeting whatsoever. It'd been awhile since I'd been to Davanni's (and not this location), so I wasn't sure what I wanted. I asked about the pasta. How big was the half size? The guy looked puzzled, then said, "Four ounces". Four ounces? Okay, either by weight or by volume, that's pathetic. I said I wasn't sure what size to get because I didn't know the difference between half and full. I ordered the full size. It may have been 8 ounces. MAYBE. And since I ordered meatballs, it jacked the price up to WELL over $8.00. TOTALLY overpriced and not worth it. I ordered the penne with rosa sauce. I specifically asked if this was red sauce and Alfredo mixed, and he said yes. What I got was this: Pasta was oily and dried out on the edges throughout the dish, which means that pasta sat out exposed for quite some time. There was some red sauce, and what seemed to be a slice of white American cheese melted over the top. What the hell? There was no Alfredo sauce. That cheese wasn't even real cheese. Or at least it didn't taste like it. And the full size? About a cup's worth. For well over $8.00. Did I already mention that? My husband ordered the chicken bacon honey mustard hoagie and initially thought it was okay, although there was barely any bacon. He ate half and brought the other half home. Towards the end of eating the 2nd half later that night, he suddenly stopped chewing, and said, "I'm done". Apparently there was a huge hunk of tuna in his sandwich. Tuna. I hope there's tuna somewhere on the menu. And even then, it had NO place on his sandwich. It clearly was dropped into the chicken. GROSS. I'm rating this Davanni's one star, mostly because I have to give it at least one star, and partly because the bread that accompanied the "pasta" was good. The service was awful, the people behind the counter acted like they couldn't have cared less if we were there or not. It was awful. Never going back.

I've been pleased with this location time and time again. The pizza is very good, especially the thin crust. I really like the sauce they use, as well as the pepperoni. Very crisp and flavorful. The garlic cheese bread is also incredible. I could eat those all day long. I'm not a huge fan of Italian hoagies, but I've had one occasionally and it was pretty good. For my friends that are fans of this type of food, they say they are very good hoagies. The pasta is ok, it's one of the better places to get pasta to-go. The portions are a little small. A "full" order of pasta with meatballs will really only feed one person. You get garlic bread with that too. It's reasonably priced. The deserts are also pretty tempting. The brownies are a rich, chocolatey, piece of goodness. Overall, it's pretty good especially considering they are a local chain now. It still has the home cooking feel to it.

I've only had the sandwiches here. I can't remember everything that i've tried, just the last one - pastrami. It was ok, I guess it's probably a little better than subway or jimmie johns but how good can a sandwich get (unless your at katz's deli or eating some brisket in texas) the pastrami was mediocre. i'll probably go here again for a quick bite to eat.

We do not eat here very often but when we do, it is always good. We always get the hoagies (pastrami, ham, and the honey chicken bacon one) and they are enjoyed by adults and kids alike. Pricing is fair for the generous size of the sandwich. The giant deli pickles are AMAZING if you are into that kind of thing. Very sour, salty, and crisp. Online ordering is fantastic (smooth process with full options to specify toppings, light/heavy condiments, extras, and more) and this location has a pretty wide delivery area. In the past I've had a couple jobs where everyone did a group Davanni's order once a week and remember liking the lasagne and salads though I have not ordered either in a few years. I do think that for the Payne/Phalen and Dayton's Bluff area this is one of the best delivery options for hoagie-style sandwiches (Checkerboard on Arcade is a distant second with much lower quality meats and cheeses) and salad. (The pizza is not a style I enjoy since I either crave the eastside square-cut cheesy pizzeria type from Red's Savoy, East Side Pizzeria, or Carbone's or the sounds-good-when-you're-not-sober chain pizza like Domino's new handmade pan carb-icidal crust that seems to be shellacked with movie-theater butter... basically the best pizza of my childhood or a fast food pizza so nasty nobody wants to talk about it the next morning.)

There was a time when I loved Davanni's. It has changed for the WORSE. I had a 10 inch pizza w/ Sausage & Pepperoni. This was as bad as they come. I could only eat 1 slice. So I took it back. got my credit card re credited. They have lost me as a customer.

Great hoagies or sandwiches, especially any kind with marinara and mozzerella cheese on it and italian sausage.Pizza here is good, If you order one of their specialty salads make sure you ask for extra dressing as they are a bit skimpy on the dressing.
