Humble breakfast place with home cooking and great service. Must stop but don't be intimidated by the building or decor. Pete will take good care of you!

I have tried so hard to like and support this place. Third time I thought for sure would be the charm! Shame on me. Waited over 1 hr for food server again was in appropriate making excuses for everything which she does everytime.. Admit it and just say I have no real qualifications that make you a server. What has me giving the one star is she was wearing flip flops (health code) and I saw her dump someone's coffee in with the pot she recently brewed and served it to all the guests. Sorry but that's just plain disgusting! Never ever again!!!

I SO want to like this place and support local establishments. But I can't find anything to like here. I only gave it 1 star because I had to. My son and I came in on a lazy Saturday morning. We sat at a table in full view of the counter, choosing the table over the counter since it was covered with dirty dishes and cooking process. Not a great first impression. It took nearly 15 minutes before we had any contact with a server and only then after someone at the counter (her husband?) clued her in. A lazy, Saturday morning breakfast was about to turn into an all morning affair. It would be after 11 that we would finally get our food. We got there at 9:30. Next, it took AN HOUR for our order to arrive--biscuits and gravy with eggs and corned beef hash with eggs. It appeared to me as if "Pete" was just cooking each order, one at a time without looking ahead or working ahead. At one point, the server did check on an order, but "Pete" was so hostile, I could see where there could be a problem. I wouldn't want to deal with him. Not a great recipe for success. As we sat and waited...and waited...and WAITED there was another couple who came in, ordered, and got their food WELL ahead of us. They appeared to be regulars and were well-acquainted with with Pete and the server. Just another irksome little nail. When the food finally came, it was hot, but that was about all that was commendable about the food. I'm pretty sure the corned beef was canned. The gravy tasted powdered. Nothing countered the overall negative experience, and for the price, it wasn't of value measured against the whole experience. I love dives. But they still have to be clean. Nothing about this place said "clean." The server wore flip-flops. (Is that even legal?) The men's room was gross. Leave this place to the regulars who obviously get the treatment that any patron should expect. I don't get the impression that the operators are particularly concerned if you come or not, nor that you have a quality experience. Sad.

It was okay. Service was pretty good and we didn't wait very long for our food. But it was average at best. Really nothing stood out. Presentation was dull. The interior of the place itself was dingy and somewhat dirty. Windows were dirty. And someone really needs to run a vacuum cleaner over the floor. But for adequate food at a decent price, it was worth a stop.

You will not regret!! Very good food and nice people --- yes Pete himself cooks the food :)

Very dissapointed after hearing such great reviews we decided to give it a try. They were short handed and busy. We ended up sitting at the bar where we had to clear away dirty dishes. Then we had to wait almost an hour for our food. I ordered the french toast and bacon and my husband had biscuits and gravy. He enjoyed his food, where as the french toast was very bland and my bacon was under cooked. While sitting at the counter we could see them preparing the meals and noticed that everything was store bought and not made fresh.

Pete cooks everything that touches your plate. He does a fine job! A little slow (What do you expect he never takes a day off ), but hey take in the atmosphere... Marilyn Monroe photos are all over the joint, setting the mood. Pete loves his country music it plays quietly in the background. Cribbage photos and all star cribbage players get there photos near Marilyn's . The griddle Pete cooks on has a wonderful flavor. My son said his pancakes were off the chain (topped with whipping cream) . Our bacon cheeseburgers were worth the wait. Kari our server was the bell of the ball keeps the place popping!. Be ready to wait for your food, enjoy your coffee and conversation it is worth it for hommmmme cooking. We will be back.

The food was on par with a lazy Sunday morning, with ingredients I usually have on hand. Pete's is a dive, so I wasn't expecting anything too fancy, and I got about what I came for. It's easier than cooking yourself, but costs more too. Prices were steep for serving Bisquick and high fructose corn syrup in St. Cloud.

I've eaten here many times. Pete is overworked and sometimes it took a while to get our order but I don't care because this is the best breakfast joint in town! Thanks Pete and Staff - I usually make it a point to go out of my way to stop at this dive anytime I'm in town. Guy Fieri should stop here!

Quite the crew. Biscuits and gravy were good. When they say pepper gravy... they mean it. Greasy spoon decor. Moderately slow service.

Very RUDE waitress. Food wasn't anything special. Pancakes are good if you like pie filling. I just can't get over how abrasive our server was. She even tapped me on the shoulder so I would grab the cash off the table to pay our tab while I was in the middle of a conversation with my family. Q

Discovered this place two months ago. Watch the food cooked by Pete. Great taste. Old fashioned service and feel. You won't leave without a smile on your face. A great example of Americana and small family owned joint!

Waited over an hour to be served. People who came in after us were served before we were, seemed like regulars so that's probably why. Food was just okay, not anything spectacular. Big disappointment.

It's a greasy spoon, I'll agree with that. Too many commercial brand labels for my taste. I expect a little more than grocery store labels for the price you pay. $10 for a hash brown, sausage & cheese omelette with a glass of milk? That's a little spendy for me. Too much processed food for me. I probably will not return.

I love going to Pete's for breakfast on occasion. Luckily for me, I haven't had the waiting issues mentioned. Whenever I dine at Pete's, I'm always served promptly and every waitress I've had has always been friendly (sometimes too friendly). I will agree, though, that the price is a little high. Granted, I'm okay with it because it's cheaper than driving to my mom's at 6AM and yelling at her to make me breakfast. So, I guess it works out. Also, Pete doesn't come stumbling out of his bedroom in his underwear, so it's another perk on top of not going home. Bottom Line: Everyone in town should try it out. It's a little pricey, but it's like home-cooked without the awkward.

Pass on Pete's Place. The food was sub par, took forever to arrive, etc. The bacon was burnt, the cheese reminded us of velveeta. The service was poor and slow. They are big on cribbage there. You need to have a game to play for all the time you will spend there waiting. I agree with the greasy spoon comments. Greasy yes, good food no. Won't be going back,

This is my favorite little greasy spoon in St. Cloud! I go here for breakfast all the time and the service and food is always good. It's a short order place that reminds me of small town America. It's the only place to go after a long night of drinking downtown.
