My family loves going here. Everyone gets exactly what they want - hand selected by you and cooked fresh on the spot. The steamed sesame buns are so delicious - we are grateful for the few family members who don't like them so that those of us who do can eat more! The restaurant itself could use a little TLC. It's shabby, but generally clean. The service is always excellent and the prices are very good.

its been a few years since I ate here, but I happened to be at the slumber land across the road and couldn't help myself,.despite having read a lot of bad yelp reviews. the food isn't bad. the place is pretty gross. the veggies aren't the right color (old), the peppers still have the veins and seeds in them, most of the food on the buffet isn't labelled, the shrimp looked very not right and everything was just kind of dirty. they use those brown paper towels to hand off the plates, which is weird. the same brown paper towels are just in a pile in the dirty bathroom on the counter. it's just so weird that there's absolutely no quality control. everything that's shitty about this place would be pretty easy to fix. it's just kind of depressing.

The food tasted decent, but the buffet was not sanitary. The vegetables were unwashed, the meat was dumped in frozen. They had limited sauces and most were not even labeled. You also had to put your watery sauce in the bottom of the bowl so when they dumped it on the grill, it all ran off, leading to blander tasting food. Not impressed, and won't go back.

This is a decent place for a stir fry lunch. I don't think this is the most sanitary establishment as the menus are sticky and I e seen people in the back simply chopping veggies straight from the box and not washing them before putting them on the food line. Though, I'm a firm believer of you put enough dragon pepper oil on it, it'll kill anything I the bowl! I keep coming back be a use the staff are friendly and I love the ability to add your own ingredients and spice. I wish they would bring back the free chicken wings appetizer instead of the fried wonton appetizer.

Very bland with their choice of sauces. Use to going to HuHot! This was VERY disappointing! Left 2/3rds of my food on my plate and I NEVER leave food on my plate! The drink I ordered tasted weird and my daughter ordered a soda that she never got. Well never be coming back, sorry, finding me a HuHot!

I would not recommend this place. Meat wasn't fresh, and it ended up dry and chewy. The variety of vegetables were old, with the exception of maybe 2-3 that looked ok. I chose to put some pineapple in my stir fry- when I took a bite I knew it was spoiled... Rotten. The cooks asked if I wanted peanuts as they did with everyone, I said yes, but my plate was overwhelmed by the amount of peanuts they added- eck! All I could taste was peanut flavor. They give you rice in tiny individual bowls- which our batch turned out to be under-cooked. Even though the staff was very nice and attentive towards us- it was the quality of food that needed attention the most. It was a sad and belly churning disappointment for $12 a bowl. I don't know how well they keep up at their other locations, but I would not risk going here or any other locations again.

Great food, reasonable price. I'm really disappointed they don't allow you to take home the extra food that's left over??? Why waste it???? Or better yet. Why not have take out??? I would gladly drive by, fill up my bowl and bring it to work for lunch. Why would you not think of doing that? Makes no sense to me??? I drive to Gengis in Eagan just to be able to do that and it's not nearly as good! You're missing out on a lot of business.

The experience of the Mongolian grill is cool, but the overall food experience could be better. It's all you can eat but usually the second plate is when you stop. Just an advice on the mix drinks, don't get them, they're expensive and watered down. Once every two years isn't bad but I wouldn't waste my money.

The food here is pretty good and selection isn't bad. Definitely not the highest quality ingredients but again decent. Recipe/mix selections aren't bad. Atmosphere is not great...could definitely stand some upgrades. Of all the Mongolian grill/BBQ I've been to - its average. Being that my favs aren't in MSP... I will continue to go to Khans.

Pretty good veggie selections and offer tofu as a protein option, which is great for vegetarians.

One of those must visit places every time I am back in the area for a few days. My dad loves it here and never fails to put too much on his plate . . . Standard fill bowl with meat / veggies / noodles etc . . . put juices of the treats . . . go to big gong / cooking area ( remember the gong ) . . . go eat hot food bits - hit the gong They have a sugary sticky bun thing . . . tastie unique treat

All three locations seriously need remodeling. Wall and floor are distasteful, sticky carpet and tabletop. Low quality cut of meats compared to what they used to have 10 to 15 years ago. Everything has the freezer burn taste and sauces have been watered down. Khan, what happened to you?

So disappointed. I've been coming here for a few years, but hadn't been in for almost a year. Wow have things gone downhill! We arrived during the lunch time on a Saturday. They no longer give you buns with every meal only with the dinners. Which is fine, except for my husband got a second plate, which was charged to us as a dinner. So when we questioned the waitress on where the buns were that come with the meal she said they aren't any because they don't make them at lunch time. She said we could get some, but it would take a while. We agreed to wait, and when they bring us the buns, it was only one. I remember being able to get multiple refills on them. I'm disappointed because of how stingy they have become, and because they tried to charge us for things they weren't going to provide to us. Plus, the table next to us was experiencing the same thing. She was charged for a drink she didn't even order, or receive. Just watch your bill, and know what you're paying for!

First of all, the "Appetizer" is gross. Ignore it. Pretend it doesn't exist. You can thank me later. Order your drink and head straight to the buffet. You don't need to order more than one trip. Most of the fun is trying to jam as much food as possible into the bowl. Another suggestion: Go with veggies and sauce only. My favorites: Pineapples, pea pods, carrots, mushrooms, baby corn and massive dragon sauce and curry. They add peanuts for you when they cook it. It's a great meal, and you get sticky buns for dessert. Mmm.

From Seattle Washington.. That is my disclosure... Seattle has been known to me as the hot stone stir fry KINGS. You can find Pho and Mongolian places that have the best variety of veggies, meats and quick chefs. So.... This was rather disappointing. But since it's the only Mongolian place in town... The veggies, meats and sauces... Veggies are cut so large! How the heck do they cook them uniformly if the veggies are almost whole! Meats.. if you are allergic to shrimp like I am... Go somewhere else! Unless you want a reaction... Shrimp always gets mixed in with the pork and lamb. Sauces... Must be the Minnesotan handicap to not know how to blend a sauce to make a delicious stir-fry. The owners do not have soy sauce, oyster sauce, siricha, pureed garlic or ginger here... WTH? This is not Asian! They make their own BLAND dragon sauce... I go to the table and grab the soy sauce and make my own blend. They keep the Hunan sauce at the table with the soy sauce and Siricha. Makes sense to keep these where the sauces are eh? Sheesh! Eh.. I am starting to realize how much I dislike this place. Only reason I go is because the boyfriend likes it here. I'd rather go to the Asian market and make my own. Besides I do have a wok at home.... Hmmmm Oh Oh oh! They use chop sticks to cook your food on the hot grill. Huh? Where is the large spatulas? Making those poor Mexicans stir frying our meals use chop sticks. Wow. That's got to be punishment. I feel bad for the guys grilling... I'd have arthritis by the end of the night in my fingers cooking with chop sticks.

So gross! Nasty grease buns as "dinner rolls" set up was not well planned. Food didn't have much flavor even with the sauces. The recipes to make your own sauce was confusing. We sat at A tiny squished table against the entrance that wasn't clean and overall this place is way too overpriced for getting tasteless stir fry and less than impressive service.. Would never bother trying it again even if it was free...

I have been coming here since 1992. Great staff great food and warm atmosphere. I do miss the soup but I'll live. Now my 6 and 9 year old love this place it is there favorite restaurant to go to. Don't be fooled by the Chinese buffet poor excuse for a Mongolian bbq. Kahns is the real deal.

Will have to put this place more into rotation. Ever since we returned from our Milwaukee BBQ visit, we sought out similiar cuisine locally. Hadn't been here in years. Besides the frozen mini sheets of meat, I like all of the following "fixins" and fresh ingredients: -Bok choy -cabbage -Mini- Corn -Frozen Corn -Onions -Green and Red Peppers -Pineapple -Mushrooms -Pea Pods -Bean Sprouts -Broccoli -Cauliflower -Tofu, Beef, Pork, Chicken, Lamb, Seafood: Calamari, Tilapia etc - Many more things.... Sauce suggestions on a board, or if they're not busy some "sauceologist" will come out and offer their expertise. The won ton strips are good. The dipping sauce not so much. The sesame buns are ok as was the plain white rice. I wish they had knives on the table. Cutting those little sheets of meat is a pain with just a fork. Mustard upon request. That "shizzle" is HOT! Could probably clear out a bad cold in no time. Cooks are pretty fast. They appreciate the tips and the gong. They deserve it for having to clean that big circular thing off at the end of the night. Ugh... Service was pretty good. Will return.

I enjoy this location more than the Khan's in Richfield. For one thing, they've got a full bar, and last night I enjoyed a $5 key lime martini (or three), which was actually really delicious. For another thing, the service is a bit better at this location. Yesterday I organized a large group for dinner at the Roseville Khan's (12 of us plus one adorable seven-week-old baby), and the staff was incredibly accommodating. They have a little room in the back of the restaurant where they set us up, and we were able to carry on our (sometimes obnoxious) conversation without disturbing anyone else. The manager connected with me more than once, making sure everything was all right. And even though our group was loud and boisterous, our server was always around, smiling and bantering with us, bringing more martinis and delicious sesame buns (we had a more risqué name for these which is probably not fit for Yelp... it's inspired by the buns' tendency to spurt sticky stuff all over your face. Use your imagination.) I'm still disappointed that Khan's decided to do away with their old appetizer that was included with the meal. That decision really brought the value of this place down. But we'll still keep coming back for those sesame buns, and probably just to the Roseville location for their great service.

I don't understand this place at all. Our food was disgusting and greasy and without flavor (despite following the recipes on the wall for sauces). I can't find one positive thing to say about the place. I have had better Mongolian BBQ in Phoenix and most definitely in Seattle. When we lived in Seattle there was literally a dozen different places that I wouldn't go to but had better food than Kahn's. I think the worst part about this place is all the people recommending me to go there - I can't count how many people have raved about this place and the disgusting sugar buns (which are literally doughy balls filled with granulated sugar).... And lastly, what really sealed the deal for me where the other patrons. The place was full of trash (the customers). Maybe we were there on an off day, but I was pretty appalled by the surrounding conversations and the attire. I wouldn't eat here for free.

Went here for dinner the other night based on reviews and a previous visit many years ago. First of all price is high $13.95 for dinner, food is very poor quality and would never go back. Meat is frozen, fake crab, tiny shrimp, yuk. You are served some sort of doughy, sweet, half cooked "bread" which was I edible. Don't waste your money.

I started going to Khan's in high school, and will continue to keep going as long as it's around! You pick your own noodles, meats, veggies and sauce and onto the wok it goes...so good. The ambiance may not be the greatest, but I don't care as long as the food stays the same!

Khan's has got it goin on. You can read my previous review for details on what a typical experience might be like. But I felt the need to update my review--The past couple times we've eaten here, the food has really been top notch. They have changed their appetizer with the buffet to just a big plate full of won ton chips and Asian salsa (instead of the soup, won ton and chicken wing like previously stated). The salsa is pretty awesome, and the chips add a nice crunch to the meal. They still bring rice and those amazing sugar/sesame seed-filled buns. Yum :) Our most recent visit was the best yet. Our server, Lisa, was outstanding! It was a busy Friday night, but she was hustling to make sure all of her tables were well taken care of. She even picked up on the fact that when I ordered a water to drink, I said, "I will have a water for now." She came by after our first pass through the buffet line and asked if my water was okay or if I wanted something else to drink. She stopped by once more later in the meal, and although I decided to stick with water, I was impressed that she remembered to ask. It made me realize that I often order water that way, but she was the first server to ever follow up. On this particular visit, the food was amazing. The quality of the meat and veggies was the best I've ever experienced, and the flavor was so good, I could go on for hours about it. I still love all of the options--even though it just looks like your typical noodle and veggie buffet...it's so much more! And just a little tip: don't overload your bowl with noodles--every time I grab less and less, but it still comes out being more than enough. I don't get it, but I love it! And remember to tip the cooks and ring the gong! (and ask them to add peanuts if you like) **f you're wanting to try it, but are concerned about the price...they serve lunch for $4 off, and it's $3 off during Happy Hour Mon thru Fri.

Build your own stir fry? Yes please! Dumpling buns with sugar in the middle? Yes please! Ring the giant gong? Of course! My advice: If you can go for lunch it's quite a bit cheaper for the same thing you'd order/create for dinner.

I've been going to Khan's for probably 10-12 years now. Although I live in Chicago, it's one of the restaurants I feel like I "grew up on" and always make a point of going to when in town. I think going for dinner time is my favorite because of the bao they bring to your table. I don't think they include the bao with lunch. This is one of those places I like because I can use my own creativity and really have control over my meal. It's great for groups because everyone can get what they like. This is wonderful for vegans and vegetarians because of the emphasis on vegetables. It may, however, be problematic if you have a food allergy -- I have a hunch everything gets mixed together on the grill and you may be exposed to your allergen. Last time I went there, it wasn't the Khan's I remembered. The appetizer significantly changed and really disappointed me. My hunch is they wanted to reduce the cost of the appetizer, but won-ton chips and salsa made me want to cry. I missed the trio of hot and sour soup, the chicken, wing, and the won-ton crisp! The service has always been hit or miss...but I go there for the food, not the service. The decor is a little outdated. They could use a really good remodel. They could also make a more efficient food line...I hate getting caught behind the "slow person" who has to pick every little piece of meat or vegetable in a persnickety manner.

Build-your-own Stir Fry. I think I love it because I've been dragged there soooo many times by The Man. It's one of his favorites (unlimited carbs and no explaining to the waitress about his need to have her remove any vegetable from every food on his order.) And eventually I became a fan as well. Also, they play constant re-runs of MXC on their TVs, so who wouldn't love that? They start you with a plate of wanton strips and dipping sauce. Then you head to the buffet and select raw meats, noodles, veggies and sauce to bring up to the masters on the grill. They fry, you bring back to your table and eat. Waitress brings rice (and if you went for dinner) some juicy dessert buns. Couple of tips. Put your meat and veggies in first, then do the sauces so you are putting them right on top of the meat and veggies, so you are briefly marinating them. Then pile your noodles on top of that. Also, this is easier than trying to pile peapods and peppers on top of a pile of slippery noodles. Do NOT follow the Sauce Recipes on top of the sauce buffet. SKIP THE HOUSE SAUCE. They use that when they fry your creation on the grill, so if you put some in too- that will be the overwhelming taste. Use more meat that you think you should (unless you don't want any/much meat.) It shrinks down pretty good when it's fried. Bring wet-naps. The tables are ALWAYS sticky. Probably from the dessert breads- which contain honey, sugar and sesame seeds and burst all over the place when you bite them.

Oh man. Either my memory is failing me, or I must have just not cared as much about the quality of food that I was eating, but I remember my first visit being significantly better than the second. Last visit was about 2004. This time around the food here was absolutely disgusting. All the meat was frozen solid, completely flavorless and freezer burnt. The sauces were pure liquid and so watered down that they added barely any flavor to the food. What the hell guys? You should take a couple tips from BD's Mongolian Grill. Real sauces, real meat, real good.

Love this place! From their abundant choices of meats, veggies, and sauces in the buffet to the quite large portion sizes you can fit in your bowl to.....the melted sugar sesame dough balls! OMG I LOVE these! I moved away from Minnesota 10 years ago and still make the trek to Roseville every time I go home for a visit to get some of these dough balls. They sell them individually, too. The staff have always been nice and friendly and when I told the manager how far I came to get a dough ball, he threw in an extra one for free! I miss Khan's a lot!

Delicious Mongolian stir fry in a friendly atmosphere. The "build your own buffet" was full of fresh meat, poultry, seafood, and vegetable selections and was well maintained/clean. The cooks did a great job and the wait for your cooked cuisine was astonishingly quick. Bravo, Khan...

I came here for lunch today with co-workers and the food was amazing! I had come here before (in March) but it wasn't as good. I'm not sure why it wasn't so good - maybe I was expecting perfection because I am a die-hard HuHot fan (at the Apache Mall in Rochester, MN) But since we don't have HuHot here in the Metro, Khan's really comes in as a close second. I thought everything tasted great! It was around 11:45am and they open at 11am Monday - Saturday. It was not really packed at all - but the buffet line was rather full. The one bowl lunch is only $9.95 (pretty cheap, I think). You can pile your plate as high as you please, hand it over to the grill chefs and they cook it up on the round wok with their giant chopsticks. They ask you if you want peanuts. I said yes please. I got beef, chicken and shrimp in my bowl, Chinese noodles, mushrooms, cilantro, bamboo shoots, green and red peppers and carrots. I used one ladle of curry sauce, house spicy sauce, dragon sauce (extra spicy), garlic sauce and some teriyaki sauce. Once my meal was cooked, I finished it off with a generous dose of Spiracha hot sauce and I also soyed my white rice. I must also comment on the delicious crispy wonton chips appetizer and the Asian salsa (with sesame seeds) Very good to munch on those while your meal cools off - that wok gets really hot!!! I will definitely go to Khan's again!

This place wasn't good at all. I thought the food was just ok... if you like your food sitting out all day and not looked after. This place needs a new look and to get some staff that cares. I have been to a lot of mongolian BBQ's over the country and this was the worst one. People in the area just don't know what they are missing I guess...

First of all, leave a tip and ring the gong. Best way to tip ever! There is plenty of food here, perfect for teenage guys. Or college guys. Or any guys with an appetite. Everything went smoothly and I got to pick exactly what was in my dish. However.... Nothing really "wowed" me. It was fine, but not overwhelming. The miso soup is kinda salty, not my favorite. The appetizer was the low point of the meal, but the rest of the food was ok.

  • Warren C.

It's okay. Here's a tip: don't get too many noodles because they fill you up! They do have white rice also. The system is basic, you go in, get seated, get in the bowl line, and fill up your bowl whatever you want them to fry on the stove. They've got sauce recommendations up on a giant poster for your personal reference. They've got a variety of vegetables, a variety of meats, but there's nothing really "barbeque" about this place as I would know it. Definitely unhealthy. You're looking at about $16 per person after tax.

Tried to do a check in tonight but phone couldn't find. Been coming here for over 20 years and really have to say ...LOVE this place for so many reasons. #1 Don't feel like I am in the 'burbs...#2 bartenders do free pours and make above average cocktails #3 Love to make my own stir-fry. #4 Love the cooks - these guys work so hard! #5 Love the servers. #6 Love Melvin!

If the Mongolian hordes were fed this slop Genghis would never have conquered the majority of the then known world. For those that aren't going to read past my first couple of sentences - way too expensive for the poor quality you get. The meat is freezer burned and just above pet food quality. The vegetables don't look fresh and not prepped well. i.e. The snow peas are tough (a big NO NO for snow peas) and not de-veined. The set up is very messy (think cheap college cafeteria), the patrons pushy and the wait staff annoying. The sauces were completely uninteresting, without flavor and did not look clean. The grills looked like they had almost never been cleaned and disgusting. The décor beyond tacky and once again the place did not look clean. Also this place is totally white (I am white by the way); I like my Asian food, well, Asian. Any decent Chinese place will cost less for 10 times the quality of food and you have enough leftovers for at least one, if not two, more meals. NEVER AGAIN!

I wish I could give this place 4 stars, it's the best Mongolian BBQ I've had. But, your feet shouldn't be sticking to the floor. And the outdated interior detracts from what should be a great family dining experience. To the owners: You have a great eatery. But it's time to remodel. Update the interior and get better lighting. Arrange the buffet so that patrons aren't climbing all over each other. Get the grill out of the corner and feature it prominently and get the buffet and the grill closer together so that there's less chance for food and sauces to fall out of the overloaded bowls. And finally, get new signage outside so it stands apart from the Olive Garden and Joe's Crab Shack signs. I look forward to eating there next time I'm in the area.

I've been here many many times now and as far as I can tell, the place has never changed. The concept is a great one really, unlike most buffets where the food hangs out and gets nasty in the warmers, this is refrigerated and cooked for you once you have put it together. It was always quite tasty, but VERY expensive... I do wish that they had a coupon day or something as I would be more apt to eat here. Oh well, I will greatly enjoy eating here again sometime in the future!

I thought that the food was good for the price. Granted as others wrote the floor was really sticky and it could probably use a good bleach cleaning. But I didnt get sick the next day so must be the silver lining ;)

I try to avoid chains, but I'm pretty much always a fan of Khan's-even when walking through noodle/soy sauce sticky muck on the way to getting my stirfry on. It's kind of a pain when it's crowded, but the lines always move fast. I like going when they have the deal for one trip, because the whole all-you-can-eat is kind of wasted, because I can hardly ever finish one plateful. My husband, on the other hand, always does about three trips and then tells me how full he is for the next five hours. Good times. BTW-if you are lucky enough to have one of the workers do the sauces for you, take them up on it. They always seem to make a much better stir fry than I do on my own! This is right by my house-but we never seem to get her enough...try a weeknight-it's a lot less packed than a Sat. night.

I hadn't eaten at this (or any) Khan's since the mid-90s. It will be at least that many years before I need to eat there again. I kept waiting for Randy Quaid to stroll by and say something obnoxious. The set-up you know: mongolian BBQ, heap your own bowls of meat, veggies and sauce, then hand over to the guys slipping around the big inverted woks to grill. Eat and repeat. Each of the things we ate tasted fine. The hot sauce was very spicy (as it should have been). The service was the height of indifference and inattentiveness. Spectacularly bad. And I would estimate that the average time between eating and each member of our party's first trip to the bathroom was about 43 minutes. So unless you have some extra toilet paper in your house you're dying to burn - ahem - through, or are a college-age male looking for value, or are looking for college-aged males looking for value, I'd check out BD's Mongolian down in Burnsville instead.

Decent place to go for something a little different. The food and the service is OK. The atmosphere is alright I guess. Plenty of room for seating and there is a full size bar in the joint. The martini's we got were weak in my opinion. The parking is no problem. The restrooms appeared clean, but yet my shoes stuck to the floor. Overall, the idea of building your own stir-fry dish is somewhat appealing. They could do a better job labeling what everything is in the building your dish area. It is nice to know what it is I am putting in my dish, even if it is obvious or not. Plus, some of the labels themselves look like a first grader wrote them out. Check this place out if you're looking to change the game when it comes to eating out. It is different. I would go back.

The Mongolian barbecue gimmick is a fun one: build your own dish (as ridiculous as you please), someone cooks it for you on a massive hot stone, and voila, your own culinary creation! And I'll admit I enjoy the control I have over the grease content (when cooked, additional house sauce is added, but it is not an oil base) and I can add a small mountain of garlic to my squid-based delight. But that's all it is. Sure, you get the appetizer (soup/wonton/chicken wing, of which I only eat the soup) and some delicious sugar buns. There's an actual menu, but it offers things that seem to have been chosen to distinctly steer you towards the self-service line. It's a very narrow focus. There is, however, a wide selection of tea available. It's kind of impressive. My friends frequently select Khan's for birthday dinners for some reason. I can say that it's not a bad place for such an occasion as there is a party room in the back. Service has never been a problem. There's a full bar, which is great, but the drink menu itself seems to have been born from the depths of cream-based liqueur hell. While Khan's doesn't really get me excited or anything, it's certainly not bad food, and I'm happy to follow my friends there. Just don't let me eat more than one sugar bun... oh, my aching tummy.

I've eaten at Khan's probably about ten times, now. I've never been disappointed. What I like best is the ability to control what I'm eating. I don't have to worry that the dish is too spicy, or that the meat-to-vegetables ratio is off. I can choose whatever crazy combination I like -- which is awesome. My only complaint is that the "sauce" doesn't have time to really soak into the meat and vegetables, and much of it runs off the cooking range, so the food lacks the flavour I'd like. Maybe if the sauces were thicker it would work better, but I think the problem is that the sauces have the consistency of water. That aside, my meal has always been delicious because I've basically made it myself, and I know what I like.

Food was okay, the proteins were frozen not fresh. The vegetables were a bit bland and stale. Atmosphere was crowded as well. Probably good for the area, but perhaps I've been spoiled by Flat Top Grill in Chicago. That is a place to check out if Mongolian Grill is your thing!

I love this place. I've mainly just came here for the lunch because one bowl and I'm usually stuffed and it's a little cheaper. The ingredients have always been fresh and plentiful. I love being able to choose exactly what I want, how much of it I want, and also make the flavoring exactly how spicy I want it. Sometimes the waiters can be a little slow but the food definitely makes up for it.

Of all the Khan's in the area, this one is the best. Parking is pretty simple and my food has always come out tasting the best at this location. What makes Khan's great is the appetizers before hand. The soup is great and I always love getting the dessert dumplings. I'm a stir fry fanatic and love being able to pile my bowl with any combination of vegetable and meat that I desire. They usually have chicken, beef, pork, crab, and sometimes other sea food offerings. There is a great selection of veggies. The only drawbacks are price and sauces. It's a bit spendy to eat there. The sauces don't have time to really flavor the food so it ends up tasting a bit bland. I am not one to enjoy spicy as a flavor, but going with the medium combination really gives more flavor than the mild. A lot of the sauce cooks off, so make sure to add enough to keep food from burning. I suggest making up your own combination using their menus as a guideline. This location also seems to clean their grills off a bit better so your food does not end up with burnt pieces in it.

Hey Go with some people and kind of work your way into it... I love the my veggies and the meat but the first couple times have them help you do your sauce. Ask yourself this: Do i like salty , spicy or sweet then try some flavors. I do spicy there dragon sauce and garlic with some curry.... butt try a bunch of stuff i never knew what i liked until it came off the grill .... Yummy food

The chefs don't overcook your food, and the service is not bad. But the seasoning was heavy on the soy sauce (I had "medium spicy"), and just didn't taste right. Asian food usually has something else to balance out the soy sauce. My companion had "Khan's special" or something like that. He didn't like the heavy soy sauce flavor either, so he put Sriracha sauce on it. (And he usually orders his food mild.) They give way too much side dish food for us to go for seconds, so we regretted not making it in there before 6, when we can get the one-bowl Happy Hour dinner. The sweet steamed bread was pretty good--reminded me of doughnuts. And then we got some fried wonton wrappers. Those two things alone could fill someone up. I've had much better Mongolian barbecue in LA and Cleveland. I'm not going back, unless there's a fun group going. I suppose I could go back repeatedly to find a combination of sauces that I like better, but it really didn't taste right to me, and I've never had that impression at other Mongolian barbecue places I've visited.

Mongolian Barbeque is pleasing. There's something deeply satisfying about having such rigorous control of your food. For instance, I cannot tolerate onion or celery in Asian food. At Khan's, I can make sure that such horrible things aren't in my dinner. Khan's Mongolian Barbeque is typical of the "fill a bowl, have the guy cook it in front of you" type of place. The buffet line is stocked with sliced, frozen meat (which prevents contamination,) lots of different vegetables, tofu, noodles, and a wide array of sauces. The choices can be a little daunting until you get used to the place. And the sauces are not thick, they're liquid. So dump 'em in; they'll cook down. The staff at the Roseville location are efficient and pleasant. The place is cluttered with vaguely Asian decor, and lots of mustard yellow and dark wood. Bizarre but fun. Televisions, some of which run sporting events, dramas, and so on, and others which appear to run DVDs of Extreme Elimination Challenge. I like the place. So does my husband. We'll be returning.

I can't say it was bad because that means you're partially at fault since you pick the ingredients. However, I will say if you like those really greasy, shady looking chinese restaurants where your noodles shines and your vegetables glean.... this may be for you. Of course, it's Mongolian, not to be mistaken with Chinese. I like all the ingredients they offer in the buffet as I love stir frys and veggies. My complaint is that so much oil is used to cook it that it loses so much flavor to oil. I can eat grease and be fine but whenever I eat really bad, greasy food I immediately get sick. I had a sneaking suspicion I might get sick after watching them be a little too liberal with the oil and 10 minutes after eating it, I was ill. If you have a stomach that doesn't mind tons of oil and are looking for something filling you'll be very happy here. But if you are looking for something that's flavorful (and not oil-flavored), may want to try elsewhere. However, their sweet buns are heavenly and I heart them to bits and pieces and that means they get an extra star because they're so delectable!

I love veggies and I love even more a place that lets me heap my veggies to the sky, add whatever sauce I want, and of course, includes peanuts. Oh how I adore you Khan's Mongolian Barbeque. Don't bother with the menu, just get the buffet. It's the only reason to go but oh it is worth it! (the -1 star is because the menu does kind of suck). The hot tea is very good, too.

The concept behind Khan's is great! I love being able to control the ingredients I put into my meal. They let you create your own combination of sauces too, which can be both beneficial and devastating, depending on if you know what you're doing or not. The more often you visit, the more you get a feel for the combination and amounts to put in. A word to the wise: if you like meat in your meal, make sure to put in more than you think you need, since when it cooks, it more than halves in size. Also, be careful of the sauce amounts, since one too many spoonfuls can leave you quite unsatisfied. The one complaint I have is toward the appetizer. I think they should either improve the quality or get rid of it altogether. The chicken wing is always dry, and the soup is pretty bland. Overall, Khan's should definitely not be overlooked on your next outing. It's absolutely worth your time and money.

This is my number one place! I joke that there needs to be a Khans rehab center for me. The food is always fresh and you can make your sauce as spicy as you want. Its a great place to go with a big group with a great atmosphere.

What's the difference between jelly and jam? You can't jelly 3 lbs of veggies, noodles, and dead animals into the tiny bowl used at Khans. This place is a favorite of mine as well as my coworkers so I find myself here more often than my waistline probably needs. It's your basic Mongolian BBQ. You take a bowl and pile high all the meat and veggies and noodles you want. After that you can either have somebody help you with adding the sauce or you can follow the instructions printed and do it yourself. I personally do it myself so I can add enough spice to burn down the building. After that take it to the nice men behind the counter and they cook it up for you in front of you. If you give them a tip you can wail on the gong hanging by the counter. You also get a small bowl of rice with your meal as well as a chicken wing and some hot and sour soup as an app. Go. Enjoy. Bring the Pepto.

The concept behind Khan's is great - pick out your food and they will stir-fry it for you. Except the appetizer is kind of unappetizing and I feel like every time I go, every ingredient has managed to find its way into another bin. I would not like a pea pod with my onion, thank you. The same can be said for their sauces (as you mix your own, according to a "recipe" or creatively). I do appreciate that you can choose your noodle style and they ask you whether you desire peanuts in your dish. Sadly, I already know in my heart that I will return again, but it will be a special sort of mood that leads me to this place.

The grill was filthy, there were flies everywhere, they overcooked mine & hubby's food till it was inedible. When I complained they did not care AT ALL. Kahn's food is still pretty good. A good selection of items that allow you to build a dinner platter of Mongolian BBQ. We went last night and we were pretty disappointed finding out that the chicken wing and soup that was served as an appetizer with the meal was discontinued. I can't imagine these two items cost that much to provide to the guests, but then again I don't run a restaurant. One star less due to this discovery!

    (2)
  • Glossolalia B.

Absolutely filthy. Food rubbed into the floor. Had all the ambience of a fast food chain mixed with a sports bar that only happens to serve overpriced stir-fry noodles and too-expensive drinks. Which is too bad, because the staff there is really very nice.

    (2)
  • Sonja R.

Waiting for the appetizer is a waste of your time. Forget that it's coming and head straight for the buffet. Fill your bowl up as high as you possibly can, and don't take too many noodles, because a little goes a long way. Many people are suggesting you have them do your sauce, I suggest, especially if there is no line, that you read the recipes and figure it out yourself. There's a sense of accomplishment with it and then you can see what you're putting in and what you may want to leave out or have extra of. Pineapple is in the veggies area, and I like sweet and spicy, so I try to get some pineapple juice into my sauce as well as make it hot.

    (3)
  • Joseph W.

My favorite part about this restaurant is how they allow you to choose what you want in your stir fry. Not just off a menu, but what portion and exactly how spicy and how much oil you'd like. It seems almost ideal. I understand some of the criticism, the meat is frozen and can come off the grill pretty tough. The veggies are great, and I appreciate the seafood to choose from. Mostly I love mixing the sauce and getting uncomfortably full! I love to tip the cooks and bang the gong... it's always a fun night out for me and my family. I've gone here on my birthday because I like it so much.

I am quite surprised with the reviews because I think this is the worst food I've had in the Twin Cities so far. The appetizer sampler consists of 1) a dry piece of chicken, 2) a yucky soup, and 3) a cracker or something. The meat in the buffet was not that great and it dried up while getting cooked. It was a crowded day and the buffet was not a pleasant sight. For example, the serving spoons were quite greasy.

The only thing I really enjoy here is their sugar buns. I hear their chicken wings are great but I don't eat chicken. I've been here a several times hoping the next time would be better or different. Nope! Don't expect the flavor and sauces you picked out to come through, all you'll taste is the diluted soy sauce they call "Kahn's special house sauce" or something like that. No matter what I put in my bowl and no matter what other people add to theirs, I seriously think they all taste the exact same. It's so disappointing yet I know people who still adores this place!

To put it simply, I'm a fan of Khan's. It is a unique experience the first time you go through their buffet line, but certainly worthwhile. If you've never been, you really ought to check it out at least once.

This is one of a very few places a visiting Bay Area person can deal with. When I visit my parents I always come here, load up on the dragon-hot sauce over pineapple, and feel like myself again. Basically the same as you get at Great Khan (Mongolian in the food court of the Great Mall, Milpitas) but with appetizers. The locals will look on in horror as you load up on garlic and hot sauce, but no worries. Show up early for the discount "happy dinner". I think kids over 8 or so could handle this, but younger, like mine, I wouldn't bring them. Even being allowed to choose their own food, they can't really deal with it well.

Been going there since before I could talk, and I must say it's always been really good. It's a basic Mongolian BBQ, but they have some ingredients I haven't seen anywhere else. Mmm.

    (2)
  • Becky K.

    (2)
  • Tommy_n_Loretta C.

The experience of the Mongolian grill is cool, but the overall food experience could be better. It's all you can eat but usually the second plate is when you stop. Just an advice on the mix drinks, don't get them, they're expensive and watered down. Once every two years isn't bad but I wouldn't waste my money.

Yummy food

Pineapple is in the veggies area, and I like sweet and spicy, so I try to get some pineapple juice into my sauce as well as make it hot.

its been a few years since I ate here, but I happened to be at the slumber land across the road and couldn't help myself,.despite having read a lot of bad yelp reviews. the food isn't bad. the place is pretty gross. the veggies aren't the right color (old), the peppers still have the veins and seeds in them, most of the food on the buffet isn't labelled, the shrimp looked very not right and everything was just kind of dirty. they use those brown paper towels to hand off the plates, which is weird. the same brown paper towels are just in a pile in the dirty bathroom on the counter. it's just so weird that there's absolutely no quality control. everything that's shitty about this place would be pretty easy to fix. it's just kind of depressing.

Mmm.

This is my number one place! I joke that there needs to be a Khans rehab center for me. The food is always fresh and you can make your sauce as spicy as you want. Its a great place to go with a big group with a great atmosphere.

This is right by my house-but we never seem to get her enough...try a weeknight-it's a lot less packed than a Sat. night.

Yummy food

  • Patti K.

  • Dan B.

I was a cook for 10 years & if this went on in my kitchen I wouldn't tolerate this at all. Though it was obvious that they didn't care just by looking at the disgusting

Absolutely filthy. Food rubbed into the floor. Had all the ambience of a fast food chain mixed with a sports bar that only happens to serve overpriced stir-fry noodles and too-expensive drinks. Which is too bad, because the staff there is really very nice.

The experience of the Mongolian grill is cool, but the overall food experience could be better. It's all you can eat but usually the second plate is when you stop. Just an advice on the mix drinks, don't get them, they're expensive and watered down. Once every two years isn't bad but I wouldn't waste my money.

Been going there since before I could talk, and I must say it's always been really good. It's a basic Mongolian BBQ, but they have some ingredients I haven't seen anywhere else. Among the choices are things like tofu bean cake, which seem to be rather uncommon among other restaurants of similar type.
