I had some business in Roseville and didn't want to eat at the same old places, as good as they are. I realized I haven't been here in awhile. What a difference. They have lunch specials everyday, and I found egg foo young with chicken. You get 1 piece that is huge, fluffy, and loaded with chicken. Smothered in the most delicious dark brown gravy. It comes with fried rice. It's not your throwaway junk that a lot of rice can be with a special. This is loaded with peas, carrots, and chicken. When I was done with the foo I spread out the rice to get some in the gravy, and it filled the damned plate. The two cream cheese wontons are delicious, and not over fried. The old bathroom would have made Jenny's grossest bathroom list easily. Now it's gorgeous, comfortable, and in a more convenient spot. This has turned into a destination for me.

Good food that's always fast with great service. It's always hot and you get your choice of fried or plain white rice, no charge. The portions are huge and well worth the small price. I've always gone for lunch to get the cheap special and I always have enough leftovers for 2 meals. This place is great.

One lunch special is enough food for 2-3 people!

Love it! Great service, yummy food. Fresh veggies. Good shrimp and broccoli. Had take out and ate in. The owners and staff are wonderful. Great deal for the cost with huge portions.

Fabulous place. Large helpings....LARGE. Always get two meals out of one order when I go here. Great prices, especially their lunch specials. Clean. Friendly staff. Looks really nice after the remodel.

Whenever I need a Chinese fix, I always get take out from here...probably because it is close to my home. But the food is good and the portions are HUGE. Their combination plates look like you ordered two full entrees! The prices are also pretty cheap. A great place to get some take out.

Only three stars because I haven't had a chance to try an entree yet - hope Yelp will let me update the rating after I have! I'm finding Yelp more and more useful. Finding a decent restaurant serving Asian food has been tough. There is one Cantonese/Hunan/Szechwan place in St. Louis Park that is my gold standard, and I haven't found anything approaching it on my side of town yet. So, I found this on Yelp, saw it well-reviewed, and stopped by after work. Wasn't really hungry, so I got fried wontons and wonton soup. The fried wontons were pretty standard fare, but the wonton soup was pretty awesome. Great broth, and nice chunks of peapods, mushroom, broccoli. I just scanned in the take-out menu, because I noticed there weren't any links to a menu. (sorry, iPhone sloppyscans). Very excited to try their spicy stuff, encouraged by a reviewer that said they were generous with heat. Also, awesome service. Very friendly gal who chatted me up while I was waiting to pick up my carryout.

Cheap delicious Chinese takeout with great service. Don't expect a culinary revolution to happen here, and you will be very happy. I almost always get the sesame chicken lunch special, which is hot, perfectly crispy and has a perfect amount of Szechuan peppers with a ton of fried rice and a couple cream cheese wontons that are always perfect but a bit sweeter than some other places. Plus they take bitcoin with online orders now!

Hey! They updated and did some remodeling! Looks nice! I honestly don't understand the mint green color on just half of the back wall, but it's otherwise fairly tasteful. It feels much nicer and cleaner. Good move for this little place!

I found this place on accident. The best Chinese food place I've been to in the Midwest. I base my Chinese food places on their Mongolian beef and theirs is the best. Their salt and pepper shrimp is awesome, as well as any of their hot/clay pots. I live in the Twin Cities and I drive up quite often.

When you go to China Restaurant, tell Yang I sent you. She co-owns the restaurant with her husband, and they are two of the kindest people I have ever met. My sister Chris and her husband James are regulars at China Restaurant, where Yang calls them by name and remembers their favorite dishes. The portions are incredible, especially in light of the ultra-affordable prices. The cream cheese wontons are as good as any I have tasted in the Cities, and my sesame chicken was tasty - without any regrets after the meal. The fried rice was phenomenal - cooked to perfection and exploding with flavor. While the location - in a struggling strip mall in Roseville - makes for an uphill battle, they have seen business steadily rising, and they make the interior cozy. I highly recommend it!!

We are visiting Minnesota for the summer and have had a hard time finding good food here. This was the first place out of many that we have tried and were blown away! The flavor was incredible! We had the orange chicken, fried rice, chicken lo mein and cream cheese wantons. Everything was so yummy! Lots of food. It's was a very clean environment and great service! This is going to be my new favorite place for the rest of the summer! I'm craving it just writing this review.

Salty. Greasy. Yummy. It's become a guilty pleasure: the "bad" Chinese food that satisfies your darkest cravings. In that way, China Restaurant definitely hits the spot. Egg rolls are crisp, hot, and flavorful. Same with the wontons. Fried rice is full of flavor. The nice lady behind the counter seems always happy to oblige special requests (eg- eliminating water chestnuts from my Kung Pow chicken). Good food, nice people. I don't mind the decor.

Yes, please! Hands down, best wontons, lo mein, and fried rice I have ever had! The fried rice actually has flavor - a lot of places don't have much flavor on their fried rice. I've gone in and actually just ordered fried rice for dinner from here, which I've never done anywhere else. The lo mein (I always do chicken) tastes so fresh! The noodles are cooked to perfection - I recommend getting it spicy! The wontons...OH, THE WONTONS!!!! If you get them with your meal, just eat them fresh...do it. Don't wait. They come out perfectly fried with the most amazing, gooey cream cheese filling. The people who run it are SUPER nice and friendly! Go ahead and go now. Eat and enjoy, let your tummy settle, and then come back and yelp all about it. You're welcome.

This place is nearby-and delivers. It's good once or twice a year. The cream cheese wontons are really good-but everything else is pretty typical-The staff is always super friendly though. My mom was pretty excited that they had Moo Shu Pork.

Holy Hot-Pot, this place is the ONLY place I'll eat Chinese in the Twin Cities. When we were first dating, my husband lived directly behind this strip mall in Roseville. There used to be a thrift shop next to the restaurant so this little corner was pretty much our main date night destination. The owner is usually the only one working the counter and cooking the food. Sometimes I see a little old woman cooking and I imagine it's his mother. Anyway, he's always incredibly polite, generous, and friendly. The restaurant itself is not much to look at and it's almost as if he is trying to make up for the lack of ambiance with an excessive amount of nice. I think it works! Like I say, the decor is an amalgam of nondescript tables, Chinese-style embroidery, and desktop publishing to post the specials on the wall. Nevertheless, the food is incredible. It is filling, cheap, and best of all: fresh. Nowhere else in the Twin Cities have I found Chinese food that wasn't dripping in oil and completely drowning in heavy, syrupy sauces. In comparison, China Restaurant has fresh vegetables that are flavorfully seasoned with garlic and sprigs of herbs along with appropriately light sauces. Also deserving of praise in my world: China Restaurant has an array of vegetarian dishes that are incredible. The mock duck hot pot is by far my favorite. It is a heaping amount of mock duck and tofu served in a piping hot pot with white rice. I also like the other tofu dishes on the menu. I am always impressed that the tofu comes out crisp on the outside and slightly soft inside--without being oily. The final thing that seals the deal for me is that the owner is not afraid to add spice to a dish. No matter where I go, I ask for things extra-spicy. I like it very very very hot. Most cooks, accustomed to timid Midwesterners, fail to deliver. Maybe they dont take me seriously but that's how I say it--with three "very"s--so I think I am being clear. At China Restaurant, the owner loads up my mock duck with spicy seasoning and peppers without sacrificing flavor. If he would just relocate to south Minneapolis, I'd never leave my own neighborhood.

I'll have an order of the crack-fried rice and a side of crack stickers. *drool* I don't know if this place MSG, but honestly, if they did, I wouldn't care. The food is SO GOOD. It has ruined all other pork fried rice for me. I has created an impossible standard that no other restaurant can meet. And I hear that they deliver now. LOVE it.

A great value restaurant and I highly recommend their catering! I ordered four large entree trays to feed a party of 100. The trays were filled as just high as they could go and the food arrived hot and just as fresh as if we were eating in the restaurant. Very very good entrees and the cream cheese won tons were the best ever, perfectly crunchy even though we ordered a tray of 160 won tons.

Lunch review...friendly service, great lunch specials & very reasonably priced. Service is quick for those afternoons when you don't have much time to linger. And you'll get a plate full of food, enough for two!

Our second visit was every bit as great as the first. This place makes what might just be the best bowl of Hot & Sour soup in MN; meaty, full of flavor, and the creamiest tofu I've ever had. Try this place.

The good reviews here are mainly from people who aren't Asian and don't know the what "real" Asian food is. Much like how people think Leann chin, and Panda Express is "authentic" Asian food but really it's not. China restaurant is just like this case. Food portion for lunch special is big but the quality of the food is not good at all. Fried rice is gross. Their white rice is better to say the least. Wontons are too sweet. The pork from the sweet and sour pork tastes like microwaved leftovers. Sesame chicken and general Tsos chicken is too breaded and you can't even taste or feel the chicken. Price is pretty good for the portion though. But honestly I'd rather spend two or three more dollars and get quality authentic Asian food elsewhere that won't leave me feeling sick afterwards. It's not a good thing when out of the whole meal, the fortune cookie and peppermint is the best tasting thing you've had. China restaurant needs to improve their food quality because even with all that quantity, it doesn't cover up how bad their food is. I can't even finish my meal because it's just not that good. I pack my unfinished meal just so I'm not rude but I throw it away every time I get home. Whenever I go there once in a while I am reminded of why I only go there once in a while.

We just ordered from this place. We had high hopes as it had good reviews. My husband went to pick up the food. He gave them his name, and they gave him the wrong order. I called back and they blamed it on him, saying "He didn't know what he ordered so we just gave him this order." They didn't ask for his name apparently and they made us drive the food ALL THE WAY BACK and pick up the "new" food.

In the time that I have written this review, I have switched the stars rating from 4 to 5 numerous times. 4, because I have been writing too many 5 star reviews, I feel, but I change it back to 5 stars because I cannot think of anything wrong with the restaurant. My boyfriend and I came here, since he loves dirty, cheap, greasy chinese food, but I am a foodie and love authentic Chinese food. This place served both in kind, and at a great price! I got the hot and sour soup, the small size (although it came in a normal bowl, not a small cup!) and SO got the wonton soup (mmmm pork stuffed dumplings!). Then, we had the triple delight hot pot and pan fried house special noodles. SOOOO GOOD. And soooo much food!! My SO is a big guy, and between the two of us, we finished half of the hot pot and only about 1/3 of the noodles. The total bill? Just around $30 including tax and a generous tip!!

The China Restaurant is most likely the best Chinese place in the cities and there are a few reasons. The first is that through college and graduate school this restaurant was located in my backyard. I've ordered from there since 2009 and the food and service have always been amazing. They even would deliver the food sometimes. The second is that you get massive servings for super cheap. The third is that the food is always good. The one set back is that the food isn't authentic Chinese food. It's been Americanized just like every other ethnic restaurant (except for a few). Overall great experience and great service. If I had to have a last meal from a restaurant...this is the one I would go to.

Everything was very good. Piping hot. Huge portions. They don't use cheap ingredients like some places do. Very nice people here, too. Quite the find! My new favorite Chinese place. Try the egg foo young it is the best!

After seeing a photo of the house pan noodles we immediately phoned in an order. Excellent. Large chunks of meat and veggies, aside from an abundance of water chestnuts every dish was excellent and I would recommend them.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
