We went about 7pm on a Sunday night and only waited about 10 mins for a table, just enough time to get a nice tall beer from the bar. Our server was super friendly and helpful and made our experience great, as did the rest of the staff. The fresh bread came out piping hot and that butter is amazing! My fiancé and I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We will definitely be going back!

When a restaurant has 'Texas' in its name, you can be sure you're in for a suckfest. This place is no exception. I went here under duress, planned by family. As soon as I heard the name of the restaurant I shuddered. When I walked in all my fears were confirmed. The big sell, of course, is steaks. They have a number of steaks on display 'fresh cut today' hmmm, I'm sure they were cut today, but the low quality of the meat was easily visible to anyone who takes even a quick glance. You can buy a much better cut at any of the local markets. Like every restaurant with 'Texas' in the name, they push quantity over quality. Another bad sign. I chose a burger because i figured they can't screw it up. I can't say it was bad, it was just unmemorable, uninspired. Thing is, there were a whopping 3 choices for burgers. The only option for cheese was American (ugh) I asked for grilled onions and the waitress looked at me like she'd never heard such an outrageous thing before. I also disliked having to find my own napkins and silverware. The staff is forced to wear shirts proclaiming "I love my job" Doubtful , by the annoyed looks on their faces when they are forced to line dance to a terrible country song. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant humiliates employees by requiring them to dance and have 'fun' The fact that the entire dinner was spent with horrible country music blasting making conversation difficult is yet another reason why I shall not return.

I really like the stakes! I here the chicken isn't so good. The warm buns and cinnamon butter is awesome. Some love the all you can eat peanuts. Have had one problem with waitress but we have been there several times to know its not an ongoing problem.

I ordered a top shelf blended strawberry margarita and it was excellent. It also came with an extra shooter of patron in the drink! Super cute. I had the crisper salad with their homemade ranch. It was okay, but nothing spectacular, and a little heavy on the cheese. The ranch was a little bland as well. Our server was awesome, she was a pretty older lady who said she was new to the restaurant. She greeted us, gave us several suggestions and descriptions of the food, and was very attentive throughout the meal. Being a server myself makes me a tough critic and I give her an A, for what it's worth. Overall, I'd come here again for service and drinks, and maybe I'll just have to order a steak next time :P.

Peanuts before the meal, ok. Buttered corn, not bad. Loaded baked potato, very good. Beer before the meal, well it's beer for crying out loud. how can you screw that up. Steak, ordered medium. Worst steak I've ever had in Rochester. want a good steak? try Outback. Want a great steak by a chef who knows how to cook meat? go to Michaels. Can't believe the overcooked, blackened piece of crap they sluffed off as a $24 steak. Ate there when they first opened and the meal was cooked very well. Not tonight. Not gonna dance the line here again. Got in the car and got the Roadhouse outa Texas never looking back.

I have been to all the Texas Roadhouses in Minnesota. Based on our meals, this restaurant is just as good as the rest. Our meals were all prepared properly, and our drinks were kept full. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I would recommend it highly!!

We waited for a table for two for 70 minutes. I realize the place was just opened, but at least give the people waiting some peanuts or something! When we got our food, I was not impressed. My Caesar salad was overdressed, my steak was over done, the meat was very mealy, and my sweet potato was undercooked. Even the water tasted bad. I could've made a better meal at home for a LOT less money. Oh, and don't get me started about the line dancing the staff seems to be forced to do. They obviously hate they have to do it because they have a look of disdain on their faces. As I was trying to eat my meal, I felt uncomfortable with them gyrating next to my table. I don't mind the idea of a little entertainment, but maybe a packed restaurant with barely any room to move around in isn't the best place/time to start a line dance. Just let me eat in peace! Bottom line, we weren't impressed. Definitely not the kind of TRH experience I've had in the past.

Been here twice, both times with a group of 5-8. Once had a mediocre burger, once had a steak/ribs combo platter. The ribs were good, the steak was seasoned well but overcooked and from a sub par cut of meat. Atmosphere is contrived and fake, picture an overpriced Applebees as it would appear in a 1960's spaghetti western movie. On the plus side, at regular intervals teams of teenagers are paraded out in front of you and forced to line dance against their will until their souls finally break. There must be a quite a market for that type of entertainment in Rochester because lines are constantly out the door.

I had a New York strip medium rare with mushrooms and onions and it was very good. Our party of 3 didn't have to wait more than a few minutes to be seated and the waitress was very good. Our drinks came quickly and our salads soon followed. You get a lot for your money and they have a great atmosphere. I will be back often.

I was pretty excited to come here with my daughter, as she is a steak eater. I called ahead as instructed, an hour before I was to dine. Still waited more than 30 minutes to sit once we got there. I noticed others coming in after me getting seated first, though not sure if they had better timing than me based on their call ahead service. When I went to ask about where we were in line, they said a few more minutes, then I was immediately called up. However, I was given a table for about 8, very strange! When we wee seated I ordered my drink, a Manhattan straight up. Either waitress didn't tell bartender to do straight up, or bartender didn't know what that meant. Still, got a big old glass of ice with my drink. I asked waitress about it, and she clearly didn't know what straight up meant. We ordered right away, my salad came sort of fast, and then we waited. About 20 minutes, I think more. And they brought my daughters steak, supposed to be an 11oz one, but it looked small. We asked, and they indeed confirmed that she was brought an 8 oz. They offered to bring 6oz more right away or just charge us for the 8 oz. Kiddo wanted more so she got it, and that came out within a 2 minutes, good thing I suppose. Overall service was average. Waitress was pleasant, but not very attentive. And when I mentioned that things that were wrong, (the drink, the steak) I got a semi blank look, and an offer to fix it but no real concern that it was messed up. The food itself was just OK. Not awesome, not horrible. I had ribs, mashed potatoes, and a salad, kiddo got the steak, mashed potatoes and fries. All was good, just nothing special. Overall, all things considered, it was loud, service was average, food was just OK, bartender was green. Given that and the wait times totally not worth it. If the servers were upbeat, smiley, that could have made a difference. Also, they did some sort of line dance. The people doing it were not smiling and just weren't into it, just going through the motions, and you could just feel it. I don't think I will go back.

Rochesterites must have very low standards it they're calling this the primo "steak" house in town. My salad was wilted and half frozen. The rolls had an artificial cinnamon "butter" that was just gross. AFTER our meal we found out there is an artificial garlic spread; that had to be better than the fake cinnamon spread but our server never offered it. Our steaks were tough and you could tell they had been pounded to death. Pounded over and over and over. Then salted to death. (Anything to disguise a round steak). Once was enough. In fact, once was too much.

Not bad, not great. The good: rolls and butter are quite excellent. Good selection of food. Drinks are great. Overall taste of food was ok. The bad: ribs are fall off the bone. That's not a good thing, ribs fall off the bone when they're overlooked. also a bit lacking in flavor. Pulled pork is a bit mushy and coated in a very sweet BBQ sauce. The steaks they serve are very, very low quality - just look at the ones they hAve in huge showcase for sale and you can see that they're even more low end than what places like hyvee and target sell. Final verdict - not bad, but I think famous daves gives out a far superior meal.

I had the Chicken and Ribs Combo. Ribs, and I know this phrase is over-used, fell off the bone. The chicken was perfect and all the sauces were perfectly balanced. An amazing experience even though they were almost literally packed to the rafters.

I was very disappointed with the Rochester restaurant. I have been there twice. They can't seem to cook a medium or medium rare steak. each time my steak was cooked well done. As good as a leather shoe. when I wrote to their corporate email they never bothered to respond. I will not go back. too bad, because their Des Moines and Cedar Falls restaurants are excellent.

We tried the fried pickles that were too seasoned. I ordered the chicken fingers the first time that were overly breaded with french fries that had far too much seasoning. The dinner rolls and cinnamon butter are amazing. On my second visit, the sirloin meal with corn and mashed potatoes was very good, not the best that I have ever eaten but certainly the best value in town. Service first time was excellent. Service second time was satisfactory.

I love TRH but had a very mediocre experience during my first visit at this location. Steak was overdone, drinks are a bit on the expensive side. Not sure if I'll go back as often I'd like to.

Completely average. It fits for the type of restaurants fit into the Rochester 'norm'. The restaurant has flair for when the wait staff starts dancing around to 'footloose' but the food... I ordered the skinny lime margarita, which was a nice under 200 cal drink. 2 in our group got the 6oz filet which both complained was too salty and pretty chewy. The hubby got grilled salmon and he couldn't finish it because of how salty it was and oily, not flakey. My little one got the mini cheeseburgers with green beans which she ate so probably just fine. But hamburgers aren't usually messed up. I ordered the pulled pork and it was alright, but nothing special. They do offer peanuts in a buckets so you can munch on those while you wait for your food. All in all, I won't be choosing this place for a return trip. There's better choices in town for both steak or BBQ.

It's possible that I could go here and just eat the rolls that they give you when you are seated at your table...it's carb heaven. And then they give you a side of cinnamon butter....AWESOME! The portion sizes are HUGE...I had enough left over pulled pork for three more sandwiches! The wait times are a huge problem. If you don't call in ahead of time you'll probably wait a good 45 minutes to be seated!

Birthday/Mother's Day lunch here with the fiancés family. I would like to start by saying that my fiancé has an extremely large family. So getting a table for 9 on a Sunday was.... interesting. I apparently ordered a hockey puck shaped ground beef patty with cheese, mushrooms, and onions. I thought that I ordered it medium rare, unfortunately the kitchen must have thought I meant well. Didn't complain, just slathered on the sauce. Fiance got the same, also cooked well. Dad/Mom ordered medium steaks with sides. Both done rare. (wtf). Waitress had to have their steaks redone, then re-heated because they were STILL rare the second time around. Kids all enjoyed their foods, but that is mostly microwave-fare so that isn't saying much. All in all... it was an odd lunch service... nothing seemed to be cooked right, the waitress (poor thing) was running back and forth, and the bill was close to $200. Probably will not be back, the locations closer to the cities are way better than this.

I did receive an email from the managing partner. He stated that indeed that not moving tables was their policy. He also offered to discuss it with me. I still need to take the time to do that when I am in town. I have done an informal survey of their competition around Rochester. In all cases others where willing to accommodate the customer. I guess when you have lines out the door and long wait times, a business does not have to worry so much about accommodating some folks. The bottom line for me is that the one time I ate at TRH it was OK, but not as good as other locations I have been to. I would suggest going to another steak place if in Rochester. The one night I did have a long wait, they had peanuts available if you asked.

We'll go back, but not for awhile. The staff was pleasant, but the best thing I had tonight was the steak fries. They ran out of roasted chicken, so my wife had a simple chicken breast she could have made herself and the chicken fried steak was pounded too thin. The TRH in Rochester has fallen short of the hype.

We ordered takeout there during a weekend evening a few weeks ago. Holy geez! The place was packed wall-to-wall, and even getting takeout was a bit challenging - a pretty good exercise in patience. Regardless, the staff was friendly and helped make the chaos bearable. I ordered the ribs, and they were super tender. They practically fell right off of the bones. My wife really liked the rolls, and our kids liked their meals too. Overall the food was decent. We'll most likely go back for lunch during a weekday.

GREAT food and wonderful service. Two of us 1/2 rack of ribs and they were excellent another in our party had a steak that was cooked to perfection. The service was wonderful. We shall return.

This is a chain I will always try and generally consider a must stop / buy meat / enjoy steak experience The chain is good . . . this location wasn't - the product is as only good as the service and this has been the ONLY Texas Roadhouse I have ever give other than a 4 or 5 star rating Wait Wait Wait . . . Wait . . . more than an hour wait before meal delivered - never saw waitress from order to meal . . . never got a refill on beverage / rolls . . . felt like an ordeal and privilege to get the check. Food was served warm . . . not hot . . . I guess the idea at this location is : You should be so lucky to eat here Go elsewhere until the understand a better concept of service

Used to be our favorite place to go for the great steak and sides until a few months ago...we have had dirty silverware everytime the last 4 visits...we always made sure we told them about it with the hope they would improve...but no! Sad we won't be going back!!

Oh roadhouse, you let me down time and time again. Today it was dirty silverware, tiny and hard rolls, and a waitress who barely seemed to talk to the table as she scurried by.

  • Dave A.

The food is good, the prices reasonable, the service very good. However, the atmosphere at this location is terrible. It is dark, cold, dirty, drafty, and noisy. Not at all conducive to a relaxing, high-quality dining experience. The whole Texas "yee-haw!" vibe makes me cringe. It feels like dining in a crowded barn to me. I really wish they'd dial down the noise and activity, and perhaps add wood floors or carpeting to soften the place a bit.

Been here twice and was very disappointed both times. Service and food was terrible. The waitstaff seemed to have the attitude that they just didn't care at all and that attitude must pervade the entire resaurant. My steak was way overdone and when our waitress finally decided to check on us almost 15 minutes after the food arrived, I complained about it and got a shrug as a response. My daughter ordered applesauce with her dinner and found several pieces of macaroni and cheese in it. That made her think that this food had been served to someone before and the idea made her ill. There was more but you get the point which is, STAY AWAY. We will certainly never be back. This location should be turned back into a parking lot. I gave it one star because you can't give less than that.

Be prepared for a wait! But that's good because everyone goes here. Steaks are excellent and cooked just the way you order them. Quick and friendly wait staff. We have not had a bad meal here in 10 visits. 4 stars only because of the limited side selections and the fact that if you go on a weeknight, later at night, they 'close' half the Resturant seating and will make you wait for a table to open instead of giving you something on the 'closed' side.

Valentine's day....busy busy. Wait staff flying around bumping into customers right and left. We were seated quickly. Our Ceasar salads were absolutely swimming in dressing...ish! Our rare steaks came about 20 min later...so cold that there was no blood on the plate. Bummer lunch, Roadhouse!

Another typical lackluster American restaurant for Rochester where the food is of low quality and taste is mediocre. We went here on a Friday, the 7 of us. I called ahead because their call ahead policy was supposed to speed up the seating. We arrived at 4:30 to try to beat the rush. It took them 45 mins to seat us even though the hostess said it wouldn't be long, I guess 45 mins isn't that long when compared to the other reviewer's wait times. We ordered the fried pickles and blooming onion for apps and they were both overly salty. I was greased out. The hyped up rolls they serve with the meal were ok not amazing. I can see how their deliciousness would be exaggerated being the first thing you eat after having to endure the long starving wait. I would equate this place to a Texas themed Applebee's. This suits Rochester, where the taste is boring, quality doesn't matter, the portions are large and the prices are low. I thought Rochester was trying to turn itself around by adding more unique restaurants, but then this monstrosity fittingly showed up in the Walmart parking lot. Blech...,

Come here about 9pm, and the restaurant barely full, mostly half empty... But need to wait for 15 minutes to seat, Ordered ribeye 10oz, ribs with two sides. It was good, and the house bread, delicious... The waitress did a pretty good job. Just the music are too loud to make a conversation. Ambience was okay. Nothing fancy. Will be back. The price are definitely better than outback.
