Great food, good portions. Our favorites are the Sriacha fried rice and vegetable spring rolls (the dipping sauce is AMAZING!).

Update: after visiting the "other" thai place downtown, I would say that this is definitely the best thai in Rochester. It may not be as flashy, but the food is just way better and not as overpriced.
(4)Vivian L.
Friendly staff, although they made a mistake with my order, they fixed it pretty quick. I liked their pumpkin curry, never seen it anywhere else before, but wouldn't mind eating it again! The fried rice is average though, I don't think I'll be trying their fried rice again, but definitely another curry or their pad thai looks delicious too :) ! The egg rolls make a great appetizer! yum. Good food, great service, reasonable prices, will be back!!
(4)Hazel S.
Good food at a reasonable price! Worth the trip and will be doubly so when they finish constructing the outdoor deck seating. The papaya salad was very good, though definitely Lao style. If you are used to Thai style you may be surprised by the tamarind flavor. It would be better if they served it with sticky rice (traditional!) rather than white rice, but I was very satisfied. The Pad Ce Ieuw was pretty good but didn't have that crispy sizzle that makes the dish. Again, not perfect but very nice and yummy. Good flavors and nothing was too sweet. I had take out, but the interior seems very comfortable and is nicely decorated. If I was going out on a date in Rochester, this is probably where I'd go.

I was quite pleased with my order from Sok Dee. I tried the pad see eiw with beef which was incredible (the best in town). I was less impressed with my fried rice (kind of bland and too oily) but the yumminess of the noodle dish overshadowed the blandness of the rice dish. Good atmosphere in the restaurant too!

I love how fresh and fast there food is. I crave their spring rolls! Great place for a fast lunch.

Arrived on a Sunday at 5:30pm. Walked to the counter and a gentleman asked if he could help us. I ordered beef pad Thai and an order of spring rolls to go. There were three tables eating and three or four with menus. We sat down to wait and after 10 minutes a female asked if we had been helped. I informed her we had a takeout order. I walked to the cashier area and she found my ticket and stated the order had not been put in. I was confused. We got our food 12 minutes later and it was hot and decent at best. Nothing compared to minneapolis. Felt as if the staff had no clue how to provide service. Didn't seem like any seasoned wait staff was there. Food was alright.

This is the best Thai restaurant in Rochester. The sprint rolls are light and flavorful. I have had the pad thai at Sok Dee on two separate occasions with consistent taste and quality--definitely the best in town. My friends enjoyed the chicken fried rice and a curry dish very much and we all plan on returning. Service is excellent.

Based on the reviews, we thought we'd try this place. We pass through Rochester pretty frequently, thought it'd be nice to have a restaurant we could count on for lunch or dinner. Very disappointing. I really hope the owners read this, because maybe it was an off night. We frequently eat Thai/Lao/Vietnamese/Chinese in Mpls/St Paul and Chicago. What we had here was vastly inferior in flavor, freshness and quality. The only similarities were the prices, which ran about the same. We also cook different Thai dishes at home and know the flavors that should be there. The Good: The waitress was really, really nice, and answered our questions about things like MSG. The spring rolls were pretty good (however, on their FB page menu the price listed is $3.95; they're now charging $5.95. The prices had changed for most of the other dishes, as well. The old menu should be taken down, it's misleading.) The Bad: My wife's fried rice was very, very poorly done. She can't do coconut, but can usually find dishes that don't require that. The menu here is limited compared to other restaurants we visit, but fried rice is usually a good bet and at the other places we go is really delicious. The rice in this was mushy and lacked flavor. The beef was rubbery. My dish, the Kal Ri, was over-cooked and covered in a salty brown sauce. All the flavors that we associate with good Asian food were missing. It was really disappointing. We didn't finish our meals. We both liked the waitress, and had been a long time in the car and needed to get home. We were too tired and disappointed to send the food back. We paid and left. I do not expect that we will return.
(2)Christopher R.
disappointed. Papaya salad wasn't very complex in flavor; it was only fishy. Beef laab was just ok and not very spicy, but the fresh thai peppers they brought to make up for the lack of spice were quite tasty. :-) Pad thai was a sticky mound of noodles that didn't taste very fresh. Spring rolls where just ok. They could have used more lettuce, meat, and herbs. Sticky rice seemed microwaved and wasn't very sweet. It just tasted like soft, sticky jasmine rice. Panaang Curry flavors were also unbalanced, being overly sweet. I was hoping that Sok Dee was going to be as good as the previous reviews suggested. Rochester needs more Asian restaurants that serve tasty, fresh, authentic flavors. Right now, Sok Dee isn't filling that need.

I love Thai food and I've been waiting years for a decent place to open in town. So far I'm a happy camper. Just had some pretty solid pad thai. Requested "Thai spicy" not "Minnesota spicy", and it was spiced perfectly. Good balance of flavors with a leaning toward sweet. I did takeout, so this review has no service score. Menu is very pared down with only the most common Thai dishes. Very excited to have a good basic Thai place. Can't wait to try one of the curries, the fish cakes and some satay. Note: This is the same location as the now closed "Far East Fusion" but it's a different place.
(4)Taylor G.
Solid. Best Thai food I've had in Rochester, and I definitely will eat there again. I like peanuts in my curry, which the dish I ordered did not have, so next time I'll see if they can add some, and it may be even better.
(4)Mat W.
I tried to call for takeout. Their phone went to a fax machine, I tried for 10 minutes thinking they had two lines. I guess i fit the definition of idiocy, trying the same thing expecting a different outcome ;-) However, the food tastes great, so stopped by to place takeout order. I waited, literally, 10 minutes, with one woman in front of me also waiting. So she waited longer, nice patience from her. There were servers coming and going, saying we will be right with you, but then they kept leaving, coming back, thinking someone else was taking the order. Finally got to place an order, but after I placed it they said it would be 20 minutes. I have been there enough to know that means 30. So I left. I should mention, I ate lunch there just yesterday, food was good, service was good. So this review is just to say, that after a month, they still have lots of problems, and I see they have had some turnover in servers already. It is a new place, I think the first restaurant opened by new owner, and they *really* need to figure this out. Another Thai placed opened downtown, and they have none of these service problems. I will keep going here as it is near work, and the food tastes great, but they need to figure out how to hum along. They are trying, people are friendly and nice, food tastes great, just hoping service/organization gets better. *Update* - Had to go for lunch at daughter's request. They had *salapao* (not on menu, these are my favorite things, the steamed buns with meat and egg inside. THey were AWESOME!!! ALso had their saku sai mu, the tapioca stuffed with port appetizer. That too was great. Also service was great today. So, Still teh best Thai in rochester, and continues to get better.
(4)Playmaker Z.
Very very good. I wholeheartedly recommend Sok Dee. The food is up there with some of the better owned family Thai restaurants I have dined at in NY. The staff is very friendly and the service is good.
(4)Chanakha N.
We decided to try this Thai restaurant the week it opened. We went close to 9 PM and they had run out of food. However, they were very gracious and offered to make us two Pad Thais for free from the leftovers! We chatted with the owner while the cook made the Pad Thai. He seems a really nice guy new to the restaurant business, so some hiccups along the way are to be expected. The decor and the ambiance was really nice. Liked the colorful tables and the Ikea lampshades. The Pad Thais were great too; generous portions and very flavorful. The Pad Thais were a bit too sweet I thought, but otherwise great. Overall a very positive experience. Will certainly visit again to try the other dishes.
(4)Michelle Y.
best thai in townï¼ï¼ï¼seafood salad, pumpkin salad, wide noodle, even the pho soup is very good!
(5)Chris W.
Saturday night with the kids at a Thai Restaurant in Rochester??? Yes, that happened and it was great. We ordered spring rolls, two entrees, extra Thai fried rice & drinks for all of us. The price was under $40 and very worth it. Just ate the leftovers and the kids liked it better tonight! It's great to have a Thai option in town. We'll be back!
(4)Anthony D.
I love Thai food, such great flavor sand so fresh and all the Thai restaurants I have tried in Minnesota, including Minneapolis and St. Paul have been rather disappointing. Sok Dee however isn't. It is by far the best Thai I have had in the state. We have tried almost all the curries and the pad Thai as well as spring rolls and all have been excellent and fresh. The prices are almost cheap for how much you get , the last time we ate there we had three entrees and appetizers for under 40 dollars pretty reasonable I think. Go and check this place out , I know I will be a regular customer.
(5)Pamela S.
I've been wanting to try this place out since it opened, but wanted to wait until they had some of their wrinkles ironed out. The food was very tasty! We all ordered different things and tasted each others dishes. The food came out fast and all together! The prices are very reasonable. Much cheaper than Mango Thai and to be honest, tastes better and WAY better service! We will definitely be back!!
(5)Mika B.
The more I eat here, the less I like it. There are a few great dishes like the cashew chicken, but they are still experimenting with the menu. Portions are huge and the appetizers are great but have come out a bit burnt a few times. Overall a great spot to try out though!
(3)Music M.
Have given this place 3 chances now, and finally fed up. Service was a joke, when you only have an hour for lunch and people seated after you receive service before you, there's an issue. The last time we turned in our menus and walked out, the lady at the counter didn't say a word. What a sagacious way to secure returning patrons. I won't be back.
(1)David W.
What a cool place! Many people complain that Rochester lacks authentic cuisine. Well, here it is! The ambiance isn't anything special, but it's fine for a Thai joint. The service is prompt, cool, and casual, and the food is excellent! I always get the Pad See Ew! The food is a little pricier than I would expect for this genre of restaurant, but I'm willing to pay it because the quality is there.
(4)Julia N.
This place was a bonafide daily double of food and service atrocities. Let me break it down: Food: I ordered Pad Thai Chicken - Medium. The last time I checked, medium didn't equal "pour a bottle of chili oil on top." Completely inedible. Pain. Lots of pain. (The friend I was with is a frequent repeat customer and agreed that it was way over the top spicy for medium) Service: Server "J" 1) Server spilled a full water glass on our table and muttered "S&$t" ... Then walked away without saying anything to us. 2) After 5 minutes, we went up to the counter to ask if someone was coming to clean up the water. Our server came, cleaned up half and said he would get more towels and do the rest. 3) He came back ... 10 minutes later. In the meantime, we saw him chatting with a few of his bros outside of the restaurant. 4) He never once checked in on us, asked us how our food was, etc. If he had, he may have noticed that our plates were virtually untouched. This was a disastrous experience. Management - time to step it up! Server "J" - you were lucky to get a tip.

Love it! Several locals told us to chef it out and we did. They also warned us to ask the waitress to tone down the heat, because when they say hot, they mean "Thai hot" Good advice there. We let the waitress know it was our first time and she was super nice, making suggestions and welcoming us. We got egg rolls (incredible) and fried squid (mmm, skip that one) to start. For my main course I had pumpkin curry with chicken. This was incredible! Fresh pumpkin and just the right amount of kick. I can remember what my beautiful wife got, but she enjoyed her dish as well. I like the interior here. Good size and funky thai art on the table tops. We liked it so much we went the following week as well. I shall return.
(4)Heather P.
The pad Thai here is amazing. Been here 3 times since I've been in town, and each time all I get is the pad Thai! The only downfall is each time I've come with my sister her chicken pumpkin curry has been different each time. The flavor is consistent but the ingredients that put in are different. The first time it had carrots & pumpkin. The second time it had carrots, sweet potato, basil & pumpkin. The last time it only had the pumpkin. Also the service isn't horrible but it isn't great. The place is small and each time we have gone it wasn't busy but the waitress/waiter took forever to come to our table and take our order. The last time we went the waiters didn't even give us menus and sat us and made us wait for 15 mins before we waved them down for menus. The food is great but if service isn't great it prevents people from coming back as well.
(3)Patty W.
2 out of 3 times we've had great service. The other time the service was a nightmare. It seemed they just didn't have enough staff or something. We took family visiting from out of town hoping for a fun relaxing experience and it was exactly the opposite. We waited a long time, never received some items, my dinner didn't even arrive until everyone else was done. Tense and frustrating. On the upside, the food was quite tasty. Curry dishes, pad Thai and spring rolls all got the thumbs up. I really want to like this place so I hope they get the bugs worked out with service and staffing.
(3)Dee J.
It saddens me to write one-star reviews, though this place cannot be described as anything but tragically off... and full of black flies. Half the items we ordered were not actually available. Tables on all sides had the same experience; one table counted 7 items which weren't served. We ordered the pad thai, masaman curry & pumpkin curry. Both curries resembled an over-salted gravy, had nothing resembling coconut milk, was totally devoid of turmeric and had no galanga or fish/fish sauce flavor. I sent back the masaman curry (yellow-less curry) which was taken off our bill, thankfully. The pad thai did taste of tamarind and looked like a pad thai, but had a handful of large chunks of half-cooked white onion which ruined the dish. I wanted to send all three plates back, but thought it too rude. The server was very sweet and tried to do well, but unfortunately is just inexperienced. I imagine they're trying to empty their kitchen of ingredients before going out of business.

The food is good. The pumkin is curry great. But good luck getting to try it. The service is pretty bad at times. Your lucky if you even get water. We've walk out after 10 minutes not getting services.
(2)Bo W.
Great place. We'll be back. We shared: Pad Thai - 5/5 stars (both). Amazing. We'll order this every time we come. Beef Pho - 3/5 stars (wife) 4/5 stars (me). I've had better, but this was very good. Wife did not like the meatballs. Tom Yum - 3/5 stars (wife) 2/5 stars (me). It had a huge piece of pickled ginger (I think) in it. My wife liked it, but said she'd order something else next time. The smell of the ginger (again, I think) really didn't agree with me. Great service. Waitress was very helpful and attentive. She answered all of our questions about the condiments/extras and how she's suggest using them with the dishes. Thank you.
(4)Jagadheshwar B.
The food was very good here ... the ambience was very good too.. the only thing that I did not like was that, the waitress did not inform us that the kitchen would close by 9 pm... she could have asked us if we wanted anything else cuz the kitchen is closing ... we couldn't order desserts because of this .. !
(4)Venkatesh B.
Massaman curry was quite delicious, Erica got the roast pork with Chinese broccoli chef special and enjoyed it greatly. The service was quite fast. Great dinner experience!
(4)Alice G.
Went back a couple of times now. Service remains great!!! Attentive and very nice staff! I am pretty much addicted to the Wontons. The food is simply delicious! They are still struggling with some things. They stop making some of their dishes and they just crossed them out on the menus, instead of printing new menus. But I keep going back for the food: fresh, with great seasoning and delicious!
(4)Greg W.
Service has gone downhill. Waited awhile just to get our order taken. Pumpkin curry still good. Took my brother out to eat , tried to order 3 different things, and they said we are out of all of them. Tried to order fresh spring rolls said chef that makes them was gone, but about 10 minutes later another table ordered them and got them. Also ordered their squid appetizer and they brought out about half the amount that we recieved when we ordered it two weeks prior. Also had a coupon, buy one entree get one free , that was good until Dec 31, 2015, they said that was a misprint and didn't take the coupon, but said they would take 10% off the bills. Not impressed at all , with there customer service. Will not be back.
(2)Jene L.
The food is amazing, especially anything that goes with the peanut sauce. I get the pad ty and it is amazing! !! The iced coffee is amazing but it seems to be out, all the time. The wait is a bit long but between the food, the wonderful service and the fairly nice atmosphere I gave 5 stars
(4)Andrew F.
Very solid restaurant. My wife and I stopped in here for lunch while house hunting in Rochester. I had the kalbi Korean bbq which was very tasty. The rice was perfectly cooked. My wife had the pumpkin curry with chicken which was also very delicious. Only down side is they have no l liquor license.
(4)Mike W.
The food here is decent, especially if the owner is cooking, but otherwise this place is really hit or miss- and not really even on par with some of the fantastic Thai restaurants in the twin cities. I've kept trying this place, despite being repeatedly disappointed, mainly because I'm a huge fan of Thai cuisine and would love to have it available in Rochester and not need to drive to the cities. The main problem I've run into over and over again is the service. There is no website and the staff seems to religiously refuse to answer the phone, which naturally makes getting take out impossible. Just today I made a fifteen minute drive in, even though they didn't answer the phone, just to see if they were still in business...and...wait for it...in the middle of giving the hostess my order, she stopped me, asked me to step aside, and proceeded to help a customer behind me in line. Another ten seconds to finish my order was too much to ask? I'm not sure if the owner/management is aware of the way their help is treating customers or what, but it's a pretty poor business model that doesn't value repeat customers or have any interest in the money generated through take-out orders. And it hasn't improved over the past year. At all. In fact, service has steadily deteriorated. The gals that worked at Far East Fusion who stayed on when Sok Dee first opened were fantastic, but it seems they're all gone now.
(2)Jen R.
Wow, the reviews were right. The pho is good. The ingredients tasted very fresh. I'll come back for a repeat. I would have give 5 stars if it wasn't for the fly that would not leave my table alone.
(4)Pashtoon K.
I really like their spices; siracha fried rice, tom yum soap and the massaman curry are my favorites and worth trying.
(5)Karey R.
Alexis provided maybe the best service I've ever had. I told her I am vegetarian and she suggested the pad ped, a spicy chili paste dish with veggies & tofu. I loved it. I requested no fish sauce in my entree. We also ordered salad rolls, my mom had pumpkin curry with tofu, and dad had pad thai with chicken. Alexis thoughtfully brought our salad rolls with peanut sauce instead of the regular fish dipping sauce, and prepared my mom's curry without fish sauce also, in case we wished to share. I was wowed by her thoughtfullness and attention to detail! She was gracious and poised when she explained our entrees would come out one by one as they had one cook working (the other chef had a family emergency). Sok Dee has plenty of parking, lots of seating, and a menu full of vegetarian (and not) options. If I lived nearby, I'd definitely be a regular.
(5)Jerry C.
i like the #14. tom yum, #28. panang curry, #15. thai noodle pho. everything is good, great services.
(5)Neg C.
Honestly not sure why this place is so well reviewed. The food is so so, they put chunky carrots in everything which is really unauthentic. Their "medium" is spicy (and i'm a spice lover!). They have messed up our pick up orders twice already. I would spend a little more and go Mango Thai any day.
(2)Adam H.
I have the luxury of eating Thai & Laotian food frequently because my wife is Laotian, however it's always fun to eat out and try someone else's. Don't let some of the subpar reviews below fool you. I've eaten at Thai restuatants in larger cities as well as one of the reviewers below states he has, and the food I've eaten at Sok Dee has been very tasty and it definitely competes well with them. Here is a tip...don't go here to order Cashew Chicken if you want to experience Thai. That's for the novices! You can eat that at most other Asian restuarants. Order one of the Thai dishes! You won't be disappointed.
(5)Tyge B.
I have had both the pad Thai and the panning curry and both were fantastic. Very generous portion sizes great flavors and plenty hot even at medium. The food comes out on average very very quickly after you order. The staff is always friendly and very attentive to refilling drinks and making sure your set. I make sure to eat here every time I'm in town.
(5)Shiobhan N.
The food is good. The menu is one page so it's not a maze to choose food. I had the pad see eww with shrimp and my husband had the kow moo dang. We ordered Bangkok wings for an appetizer but received them after our meal because the waitress forgot even though she wrote it down. Overall the chicken was crisp and flavorful, and my shrimp wasn't overcooked. The sauce of both our meals were delicious. They didn't overcook the Chinese broccoli, which I like. I gave four stars because the waitstaff needs to be trained better. They are lackluster. There's a girl that wasn't our waitress who is checking on her tables but our waitress hasn't. I don't know who they are because there was no introduction. She asked for our drink order before we even got to the table. I want my coat to be off and I want to be sitting before I'm asked that. She refilled our drink but doesn't fill them to the top. There are only two waitresses that I see working during dinner hour. The phone is constantly ringing for long periods. They need maybe one more person to maybe be a hostess and back up waitress. I asked if they had steamed buns because another yelp reviewer said she had some here and she said "no I think you're thinking of the other restaurant" (Far East fusion). So maybe she doesn't know if they had it and it's gone or she doesn't know of a "secret menu". I finished my meal and she asked if we wanted our check which we waited 10 minutes after we already boxes up our unfinished food. I was waiting to see if she remembered my sesame balls for desert and she didn't, even though AGAIN she wrote it down. Overall the atmosphere is nice and the decor is nice. The tables have southeast Asian drawings on them which makes it interesting. But the waitstaff needs to be improved and there needs to be one more person to help.

We gave another try today, we ordered tofu pad that, pad see lew, pumpkin curry with tofu and sticky rice, don't forget their Thai ice coffee, This time the food was very very good, We glad we gave another try out! Very happy with the foods, We will be back for sure, thank you for the improvement ... And service is always good here. Wish them all the best .
(4)Dorothy L.
I currently live in NYC and the food closely resembles some of the legit thai joints I frequent. My favorite thai dish is Massaman curry, Sok Dee's wasn't as deeply flavored as the ones I'm used to but I can see myself having it as a casual meal. The Tom Kha Gai wasn't flavored at all -- just a healthy ol' broth. I'd eat here again if I'm hankering for some thai curry.
(4)Sergio G.
Serious plates of good food here, the pad Thai is monstrous and I love the generous portions. Also had the pumpkin curry which was tasty, this is definitely an affordable joint with wholesome meals.
(4)Seven O.
Gotta give it up to the cooks @ SokDee. I drove 1.75 miles from Minneapolis...past corn fields and wondered "could there be decent Thai food?" Hubby looked up this place and I checked out the menu. Prices are reasonable! Beef Pho was tasty. The soup was piping steam when I got it. Beef salad ordered Thai style hot was perfectly spiced and seasoned. The only downside my Sticky rice was hardened by the microwave. Good job on the food overall. Sticky rice is tough to soften and warm up. I love it, warm & steamed. Others across different parts of Thailand prefer a cooler temperature firmer sticky rice with their meals.
(4)Pennie C.
I decided to try Sok Dee because of all the fantastic reviews I'd read and because its literally a block away from my house. I went in around 3:45. Placed my order at 3:55 and was told 10 minutes. 4 minutes later I had my food. A-mazing. The young lady at the counter was very helpful when I told her that this was my first time going there. She suggested the Spirarcha Fried Rice with beef and I also got an order of the wontons. She even offered to bring me a glass of ice water while I waited. So I took my food home and sat down. I had asked for a medium spicy dish (which it was) and let me tell you that I was blown away at how fantastic this meal was. The wontons? Oh my god. So creamy and delicious with a perfectly crispy shell. And they served it with some of the best sweet and sour sauce I've ever had. The fried rice was a little mushy but as a whole the dish was fantastic. The beef was well cooked without being rubbery which is usually something you have to deal with. Needless to say I'm definitely going back here to try everything on the menu. This place is going to make me so fat and I couldn't be more excited.
(5)Kah P.
I always get the Pumpkin Tofu curry which is fantastic, with soft (but not mushy) pieces of pumpkin and fried tofu. Can be ordered to be very spicy (my mistake). Their tom yum, green curry, Penang curry, and fried spring rolls are also very tasty. Fried rice is good, but Pad Thai could be better. Overall, my favorite Thai place in Rochester.
(4)Rachel S.
While the waitress was attentive and apologetic, it did not make up for the fact that we were served pork spring rolls three times even though we clearly stated we are vegetarians! The rolls didn't even look good from the outside because they were wet with oil from improper frying and looked like standard frozen rolls. The vegetarian Panang curry had a tasty curry sauce, but it lacked in vegetables. The decor was tacky and not Thai-like. My husband accidentally opened the kitchen door while hunting for the bathroom, and he said had he seen the kitchen before we ate, we would have walked out because it was the dirtiest kitchen he had ever seen. Maybe this is why the cooks couldn't find the veggie rolls? This meal was a waste of the $30 round trip cab fare we had to pay to get there from the Mayo Clinic area. It is hard to understand how this place legitimately has four stars -- 2 at best if the kitchen were clean.
