I wish I could give it zero stars, if that was an option. We went there for lunch on a Friday and it was not crowded at all. Placed orders for 2 simple things from the menu, a veggie omelette and a chicken breast with a side greek salad. The salad was out in a couple minutes, and then the wait began. We waited for over 35 minutes for our order, and it did not show up. Adjacent tables who ordered in front of us, finished their meals, paid and left and our meals did not arrive. We asked our servers a few times and we got the answer that it was going to be 5 more minutes every time. Unfortunately, we had to leave as it was time to get back to work. As we were leaving, they said, Its by the window now, you can have it on the house. We left. I would highly recommend to avoid this place, unless you want you breakfast orders to arrive for lunch and lunch orders to arrive for dinner.

Average diner with a standard American menu. If it is repaired very quickly in the waitstaff was very polite as is everyone in the state

For breakfast we had Greek omelettes and they were fantastic. The coffee was good too.

This resturant has a great location but food that is below average served by untrained staff. About every five years I give them another try and they fail!

Enjoyed the fresh Greek salads and hummus cake with pita bread. Having traveled to Greece we really liked the freshness in their salads and Mac's did not disappoint. They also make a nice gyro lamb sandwich with great tasting french fries. They served Hess wines which were fine. They have a variety of American comfort dishes too including open face turkey sandwiches, burgers, etc. I only tried one American entree and I did not care for it - Texas style chili. I liked the quiet, unhurried atmosphere for lunch. Their breakfasts were rated best in Rochester so I look forward to trying them. I recommend them for lunch.

I've been back 3 more times and each time it was just as excellent as the first. Service was also a lot faster since I didn't go during prime lunch hours. Still highly recommend!

Middle of the road. Had both breakfast and lunch here. Breakfast omelet was passable. The gyro for lunch was the same as anywhere else with the exception of the yogurt sauce which was good. It seemed homemade however they didn't give you much and extra was a $1 which is a bit odd.

How does a greek restaurant not have greek dressing for a greek salad ? So I settled for a turkey club. I must admit the sandwich was enjoyable, thick sliced turkey, ample bacon, so much so that I only ate half the sandwich. Thus, a togo box was in order. Asked the waiter if i could please have two fresh pieces of bread so I could toast and recreate the sandwich. Much to my dismay, I was in disbelieve when I saw a $3.50 charge for 2pieces of toast and jelly, I need to note that I did not even get the jelly, just two pieces of bread. Yes, $3.50 for two pieces of bread to go. When asked about the charge the best the waiter could do was say " yes thats correct, sorry," and then swiped my card. I shall leave it up to you, the food was good. However, attitude and...

This was a decent restaurant. I liked that the menu had such a wide variety of both Greek and American options and offered breakfast all day. There are plenty of vegetarian options too, which was good. The food itself was pretty average - nothing amazing but not bad either. Also, the servings are huge.

I love gyros and most Greek food, but combine Greek and breakfast = fantastic! I had the Greek omelette this morning and wow! I'm going back tomorrow!

I'm going to retract my initial so-so review because we have made Mac's a regular weekend breakfast deal. My usual is the lemon ricotta pancakes and hashbrowns (fruit if I'm being strong), and my husband gets eggs, toast, and bacon or sausage. Their food is dependably good and quick. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, and the staff is super friendly. The only other thing I've gotten besides my usual breakfast meal was the Salmon Cranberry Walnut Salad, and it was sooooooo good. The dressing could be poured on ice cream and eaten as dessert. Love Mac's! Looking forward to this weekend for breakfast =)

There's nothing wrong with this place, but there's really nothing right either. Being a Greek place, I ordered the spanikopita omelet. It was completely tasteless. I don't know how a restaurant could make feta cheese have no flavor, but they did. The hashbrowns were also bland, and hardly cooked, and the coffee is really just brown water. The only good thing I have to say is that the rye toast was high quality. The waitress wasn't exactly rude, but she was pretty cold.

Expect a casual, family style diner when you visit. If you are wondering around downtown Rochester, the menu is posted at the front door. The patio wasn't open yet as it was April. My mom and I dined here after fitting my wedding gown at Mestad's. We both really liked the "Mac's Famous Greek Style Shish Kabob". The steak was delicious - it was a melt-in-your-mouth quality cut of meat, the roasted tomato, mushrooms, bell peppers and onion roasted to perfection. Skip the steak sauce- it ruins the entree! The rice is seasoned to perfection with a variety of herbs. I gobbled this right down. The entree also came with a Greek salad- which I know are on the tart to bitter end of the salad spectrum- but it was too bitter for my taste on that particular day. Mac's is clearly a favorite among locals. People dressed in scrubs and donning medical center badges to students and business lunches were being held on the weekday of my visit. The detractors: the server who seated us seemed put off by our request to not sit near the front door on this VERY brisk April day; the spoon lying in wait on the clean napkin was dirty. The next place setting over had a clean one though. The dirty spoon is why I just can't give it 5 *s. Eat the shish kabob- soak in its deliciousness and check your silverware. Prices range from $5.xx- $15 Mind the street meterd parking- there is a 30 minute limit.

Ok I had been to Mac's 2 times for breakfast and loved it both times. So I decided to go there for lunch. Bad decision. I was starving as I had to fast for test they were doing at Mayo. So I was very hungry by the time I got to Mac's I ordered the chicken salad melt it came with chicken noodle soup. My soup was awful it looked bright yellow and glossy, due to they put to much cornstarch in it. It was also very salty. The waitress noticed I was not eating it and asked if she could get me something else so I got a salad. It is the pre-made bagged salad which I hated as it is iceberg lettuce with cabbage and everything in the salad tasted like the cabbage. Then I got my sandwich it was so greasy. I think they fried the chicken salad then put it on the bread than grilled it. It was awful. The waitress wanted to get me something else but by than I was so sick to my stomach I could not eat. I did enjoy my ice tea. And my husband enjoyed his hamburger. Breakfast they are winners lunch stay away!

Had only eaten here a time or two in the 17 years we've lived here. On a whim, we decided to try it for dinner the other night. Yikes, not a good choice. I tried the "salmon kissed with honey and fig". Sounds lovely, right? It was awful! It was burned to a crisp. Honestly, the bottom of it was black and charred. I tried to eat the top portion that wasn't black, but it had this off, bitter taste. When the waitress asked how everything was, I showed her my burned dinner, and she just said "ya, the cook has been experimenting" and walked away. When we paid for our meal about minute later, she perkily asked "how was everything?" Uh, it was burned and awful. Went for chocolate gelato at Stam next door to get the nasty taste of burned salmon out of my mouth.

My husband came for lunch during a weekday and said it was hopping but he got everything very timely, so I don't know if on a Saturday afternoon means that they just screw up everything? Although the interior looked very modern and fresh on the inside, we decided to take advantage of the weather and eat on the patio with our children. The waitress did not appear interested in serving us or any table in fact- we ordered and there was perhaps only one other table that hadn't been served granted there were 6 at that table, but we probably waited 40 minutes for our food. The menu doesn't appear to have a kids section but when we asked the waitress, she said there was two items: chicken fingers and grilled cheese. Also didn't help that I found a white plastic foreign object in my open faced meatloaf gravy that may be a brush bristle that upon telling the waitress her only response was, "do you want me to get you another plate?" No, no manager was ever offered or really even a discount on the food- I certainly am not bothering to come back with just the crappy service and weird foreign objects alone!

Simple little diner right on Peace Plaza. Opens early for breakfast. Prices are reasonable and the food is dependable. Nothing fancy, but a solid, non-chain choice for breakfast in the Mayo Clinic and hotel sector of downtown Rochester.

Cute family owned business that does a brisk lunch business. Waitstaff reminded me of my mother and her friends. Food was fresh, well presented and while not fancy, solid. Nice patio area on the square. The credit card machine went down while I dined, but staff was quick to accommodate those patrons who did not have cash.

Love this place. Old style cafe/diner with traditional diner food. However the reason to go is for the Greek food. The restaurant is owned by a Greek immigrant family. You have to try Greek chef salad!

This is a rating for my overall experience. My gyro deserved a 4.5 stars. We ordered a gyro and burger to go. We kept busy for 10 minutes then came back in. The place was not busy at all. We were ignored for another 10 minutes. The one guy that was helping us was at the register ringing up some people. Our food was sitting there while 4 other servers who knew exactly what we ordered were just walking in back and forth, one of them even passed by our food twice and didn't bother giving it to us. We finally took it and left. The gyro was delicious but lacked veggies, only a little bit of tomato which isn't enough. I didn't like the service, so won't go out of my way to come here.

Service was painfully slow for breakfast, and there was a large chunk of flour or other powdery substance in my lemon ricotta pancakes, which were nowhere close to the fluffy ones sold at Hells Kitchen in MPLS. $7 for a glass of orange juice?? Total breakfast for one person came to $24. Unimpressed and the only time I will dine at macs.

My favorite dish at Mac's is the fig and honey chicken salad - it has warm roasted chicken, greens, onions, feta, and comes with a scrumptious fig/honey vinaigrette dressing and warm pita bread. I've had it at least three times already and it is excellent each time.

Nice location, the Gyros were average (on the dry side as they were underdressed with onions, tomatoes and tzatziki) friendly but slow service. Meh...

Classic diner food meets Thessaloniki at Mac's Restaurant in downtown Rochester. What else can you do but to order the Greek omelet? Filled with yummy Gyro meet, topped with a portion of Tzatziki sauce, this lunch order hit the mark! Plated with hash browns and toast to make it complete. Great views of the Peace Plaza and the Barnes and Noble / Chateau Theater. Stop in to the Barnes and Noble and look around this historic building. Make sure to ask for a handout on the history of the building to get a full appreciation of this unique theater which premiered the movie classic "Gone With the Wind" in 1940.

Pleasant staff and I was able to order a gyro to go at 6 pm. The gyro was delicious. The tomato was a tad on the grody side - but the gryo meat more than made up for that. I wish I had enough time to eat there because the sidewalk seating looked comfy and neat as a pin; itwould have been great to people watch while dining.

Mac's has an expansive enough menu to please even the pickiest of eaters. This centrally located spot offers thoughtfully made American food as well as classic Greek fare (recipes handed down from generations of the family who has owned and operated Mac's since the 1950s). Our table shared a number of menu items that were all delicious. The stand outs were the spanakopita and the gyro, both of which were the best I've literally ever had (and I've tried many, many versions). The spanakopita was stuffed with a very generous and perfectly balanced blend of salty feta and uber-fresh spinach. The spinach hadn't been heavily sautéed (nor obviously frozen) and the flaky, airy phyllo dough wasn't oily or over-used -- it lent just the right amount of buttery crunch to give the spinach/feta blend center stage. The gyro was a perfect savory treat -- simple and fresh. The pita was soft and chewy, the meat was juicy, the sauce light and flavorful. Try it the "greek" way with yellow mustard -- yummy! Service was friendly and attentive, prices are very reasonable, nicely located in Peace plaza with a lovely view of the courtyard and the old theater marquee turned Barnes and Noble.

My first visit to Mac's: I went in for a late lunch (~2:30pm) on a Tuesday by myself. I was greeted promptly, told I could sit anywhere on the right side of the restaurant, and that my server, Sinead, would be by "as soon as she can". After 10 minutes, my server came by with no smile and a poor attitude. She greeted me with a "do you know what you want?". I ordered a mushroom melt with chips and a side salad. When I asked what my choices were for salad dressings, she rattled them off at lightening speed and an eye roll. As an afterthought she took my drink order, water, and brought over a glass with no ice, at room temperature. As I waited for my meal, I watched her greet the tables around me with more politeness than I had received, but still not enough for the service industry. The food came out in a timely manner and was very good. Nothing to write home about, but it hit the spot. The chips were by far the best part of the meal. I received my check as I took the last bite of my burger and went up front to pay. The cashier was very friendly. Overall, the food was good, but not great. The service was not horrible, but was definitely lacking. I don't know if it is because it was late afternoon or because I was dining alone, but the server was not up to par. Even just a smile from my server could have helped turn around my experience. I don't plan on going back anytime soon.

Consider that I travel for a living, whether it is by plane, train, or automobile, I think we can all agree that the choice of good food is few and far inbetween. Either it's the likes of big fast food franchises, chain grown up restaurants, or really expensive restaurants for the best food. Being in Rochester, MN I was looking for something simple, traditionnal, and won't break the bank. Well, I walked into Mac's an unassuming restaurant across from the Barnes and Noble at University Square. It tauted itself as American / Greek comfort food. OK...I took the bait and walked in. It is Tuesday night and there were about a dozen or so people dining....not bad considering Rochester empties out at 5PM sharp as everyone races away to their bedroom communities. I imagine most of the people here are either visiting people in the Mayo Clinic system or doing business with the big hospital that anchors this nice little city. Well thank goodness for the hotels in the area - otherwise Rochester would be a ghost town. I digress...forgive me. Anyhow, it was cold out so I ordered the homemade chicken noodle soup, gyro with a side of home made potato chips, and an unsweetened iced tea. The chicken noodle soup was flavourful, chock full of egg noodles, and huge pieces of white meat pieces. It was indeed homemade and was amazing; very happy I ordered that to start. The gyro was generous and good, not the best I've had as I found it a little on the salty side. There wasn't enough tzaziki on the gyro so I asked for more and the waitress was more than happy to bring a little container full. The tzaziki itself was lacking a little 'OPA' but was good....again good but not the best I've had. The side of homemade potato chips? Fantastic, as they were crisp, and lightly seasoned. Overall a good meal, although I have to agree with some of the other reviews about the service. Getting water or drink refills is not their forte, but it was courteous and the waitress did pay a good amount of attention to my service with the exception of liquids. I will come back to Mac's the next time I am in Rochester.

Service was all right, food was pretty bad. I ordered pork chops and it was way too tough that I ended up having to eat it with my hands, the quinoa and couscous that came with was OK but tasted like half a bottle of ground black pepper. The thing I thought tasted the best out of them was the small side salad which I'm pretty sure came out of a bag with ranch dressing. Their gyros are pretty salty too, onion rings are pretty good though. I would not come back again. No one was even at the register, we had to wait for someone to come even though the restaurant wasn't busy... Definitely better restaurants nearby.

I was looking for a place near Mayo Clinic where I could have a late breakfast; Mac's was one suggestion from the Clinic's Information Desk. I performed a quick perusal on Yelp, and despite seeing mixed reviews, I decided to check it out. I am glad that I stopped in. The large plate-glass winows in front lend a bright appearance to the clean, modern interior, even on a frigid February day. I was greeted promptly and informed that I could sit where I wanted. I chose a seat near the windows, but away from the door, as I did not need any more 5 degree fresh air! (Later I discovered that I could have walked in the comfort of the Skyway system from the Mayo Building). A polite server quickly approached and took my beverage request. Upon her return, I was able to place my order for a Spanikopita Omelet (spinach and Feta Cheese). Included were hash browns and a choice of white, wheat or rye toast; I opted for rye. I departed the dining area to find the restroom (which is out a hallway and down one level). Upon my return, breakfast was waiting. The omelet was good, sporting plenty of fresh baby spinach and a plesant amount of Feta. It was well cooked. The hash browns were tasty, although a tad greasy. The rye toast was delicious. The coffee was hot, flavorful and served in a 'Victor' type mug. It reminded me of New Orleans style coffee with chickory. My attentive waitress never allowed my cup to run dry. Although I did not eat any of the lunch or dinner offerings, the menu seemed to have a reasonable vairety of Greek items, and the plates that I saw travel by me on their way to hungry patrons, appeared tempting. I would definately recommend Mac's for breakfast. Prices for breakfast items seemed a little on the high side for the location, though my meal totaled just over $10 with tax.

I had a great burger and fries at MAC's! Servers were great and loved that we could eat outside. My only complaint is that we waited a while for someone to take our order but it was lunch and they were busy so I assumed that's why. I was just visiting Minnesota but if I ever came back to this area I would eat there again!

Great atmosphere. We were able to eat on the patio on a weekend morning. It was busy, but not too loud. I ordered the Spanikopita Omelet and it was very good! Service was good :) we will definitely be back to Macs soon!

I wanted to like this place better than I did We were visiting the clinic looking for a good lunch spot and ran across this place, generally we were early (11:20ish range) to avoid the lunch rush as we had an appointment an hour and a half later. We were pretty early seated immediately place only half filled and put in our orders immediately. That being said it still took over an hour to get our food from the point of order. The food that arrived was good but not amazing and it was incorrect (like totally incorrect, I ordered their stock chili cheeseburger and got a standard bacon and cheeseburger) but it was so late that there was no time to request a remake and the waitress never visited again until she brought our check so there was no opportunity Overall I am going between a 2 and 3 star the food was not bad it was totally the service

It wasnt even a busy day, but it took the waitress 10 mins to come and ask us what we wanted to drink. I knew she would never come back, so I put in the food order as well. 1 coffee and a gyro. how hard is that? Waited for 20 mins, got the food but no coffee. Asked another waitress for the coffee, she apologized and brought it right away. That's the last I saw of any waitress. Nobody ever came to refill my coffee so I had to go to the counter and ask the cashier. She said she will bring it right away... Never did. After another 10 mins of waiting I went behind the counter and took the coffee pot myself and poured me one. Nobody working was around to say anything.. I now know why they call this the worst restaurant service in Rochester. Only Good thing- I saved myself a few bucks on tips!

I went to Mac's because I was expecting good authentic greek food..and they have been in business for a very long time so although it didn't look like much from the outside I decided to give it a try for supper one evening. It was nothing more than a dinner and not a very good one at that. Would by-pass this and find a better option next time..

My family and I moved to Rochester a couple of months ago. Up until the time we went to Mac's, every place we ate at could gag a maggot. It was pretty frustrating to not find tasty food. Mac's, however, gave us a great experience with good food. We went to Mac's for a late lunch during a weekday. My wife ordered a gyro, and I had an omelet. The atmosphere was casual, and the service was great. By mistake, my wife received the wrong order. No biggie, though. Our waitress (Cadi) quickly corrected the mistake by serving the correct order a few minutes later and throwing in a free dessert. It was a nice, endearing gesture, and we very much appreciated it. We'll definitely go back to Mac's. Its team serves up good diner food in a laid-back environment.

We happened upon Mac's on the recommendation of a volunteer at Mayo Clinic. Why would anyone eat in a hospital cafeteria when this is so close and convenient? The food is delicious, and the waitstaff is friendly and attentive - Tammy was our server and she took great care of us. I loved the Cowboy Chili bowl with Tzatziki, my dad had a great spanakopita, and my mom's lemon ricotta pancakes were fantastic. They grind their own coffee beans, they serve breakfast all day, and the menu had a lot of different offerings. Prices are very reasonable.

The food at Mac's is OK, barring they aren't very busy. No matter the case, be prepared to experience what is possibly the worst restaurant service in Rochester. Being that this is the only place to get a decent greek salad around the clinic, I find myself at Mac's about twice a month. I usually have the greek salad with Gyro meat, which comes with a different portion of meat, feta and greens pretty much every time I order it. Their breakfast is typical 'greasy spoon' fare and the coffee is nothing to write home about. The service is either rude or indifferent and extremely slow tending to your needs - the other day, I waited more than 5' at my table before having to get up and ask for service, only to find ALL of the waitresses sitting around chatting near the kitchen! Unreal! Hopefully the manager or owner is reading these reviews and makes some changes - clearing house might be a good start.

I'm back at Mac's to have a snack. I have only eaten here for lunch/dinner but I have enjoyed it each time. I love dining outdoors on the plaza in the summer. The gyro plate is a solid bet. A small greek salad for a starter followed by a platter of gyro meat, onions, pita, rice and olives. Tasty with a nice range of flavors. My wife had the full up greek salad with gyro meat. Lots of feta and olives. Again many flavors that go well together. The service was friendly and quick for outside dining.

So Mac's had an interior redecoration, and lost all its old quaint charm in the process. Bummer. I went here recently for lunch. The food was a small cut above marginal like my last visit, but I had the worst waitress ever (One of many issues: I asked her where the bathroom was, then went there [for about 2 minutes]; I came back and she had cleared my place and cancelled my order because she thought I had permanently left, even though I left my purse at my table). Additionally, the air conditioning in Mac's must be set around 60; be sure to bring a sweater because it is freezing in there! Don't plan on this being your nice "evening out" meal; it's more like a pit stop on the way to better food.

Ordered a simple take out of Baked Hummus. Took the extremely inattentive waitress a long time to come to me to take my order. I asked for extra Pita and confusion reigned over whether I wanted a slice or a four slices. Finally we sorted it out to 8 slices (2 whole Pita's) which cost an additional 5 bucks. Never had such expensive Pita bread in my life. Took the order back to hotel after a 10 minute wait which was reasonable. The order was packed well, but instead of the meal portion of the order which was 8.50, it seems they packed a measly side order. No greek salad at all as described in the menu. The hummus itself was OK. The Pita was average. So for 3 pita's and a side of hummus I spent over 14 bucks (with taxes). 2 thumbs down (my homage to Roger Ebert).

The first time we went here, everything was great! I had ordered a salad, and my husband got a very juicy burger. My next 2 experiences were sub-par. The gyro I ordered off of their street cart was smothered with so much tzatziki sauce, it was almost impossible to eat, and I love that sauce! I ordered a to-go today, and it was 45 minutes until my single menu item arrived, I finished off my $6.50 freshly squeezed orange juice while I waited. The girl at the counter seemed frazzled, unfriendly, and inefficient. There was a line 10 deep of people just wanting to pay for their meal. I did enjoy the quinoa veggie shrimp dish, and the side of pita.

We were down in Rochester recently and stopped in here for lunch. I had the traditional Athenian with pork, which was really good and my brother had the baked humus which was pretty good too. Really interesting taste and texture on that one, but very good. My dad had the philly steak pita and he liked it a lot. Service was prompt and friendly and the place was super clean. Definitely worth a look if you are in the area.

The updated interior is great~ much nicer inside now!!! My newest favorites...lemon ricotta pancakes with berries on top for brunch & baked hummus cake for lunch! I order the baked hummus cake about once a week or so!!! It's that good! It comes with a small greek salad, pita bread, and a little dish of orzo with marinara. I love the variety!

I was a bit unsure whether to try Mac's after reading some of the reviews but I was craving some Greek food while I'm in town. I'm glad I did. Great food, great service, great experience. Loved the gyros on pita with side Greek salad.

I come here for lunch every so often and have had a great experience each time. I love that they have a lot of healthy options and a lot of vegetarian options. Sure, they have typical diner comfort food too, but there really is a wide selection to choose from! The service has always been very efficient and friendly. The food is always tasty! I love sitting and watching people out in the courtyard. :-) I have never had to wait for a table or very long for my food to be delivered. I see other unfavorable reviews but honestly I have been here multiple times and never had those problems.

It was ok. Ordered take out to take back to my hotel room. I ordered the club, onion rings, and a small side salad with cranberry dressing. The onion rings were great! The homemade cranberry dressing for my salad was awesome. The salad was your basic side salad but very adequate. However, I asked the waitress if the club sandwich came with mayonnaise on it and she said "if it does it will come on the side." So I replied, "ok great. I definitely want it on the side.". I was unpleasantly surprised when I returned to the hotel and found my club to be slathered with mayo :( could have hit it out of the park but that ruined it for me. Also the bacon on the club was a little undercooked compared to how I usually like it.

I hate going to work sat mornings, but Macs French toast and coffee helps. Service is always fast. The downtown location is handy for me.

I visited Mac's with several family members, and everything was well-prepared and tasty. Some of the best Greek fusion I've had - my goodness, their chicken souvlaki is delicious, as was their oatcake, grass-fed burger, gyro...and everything else we tried, too. The one downside was our surly waitress. Her incredibly negative attitude is the only negative I could pin on this otherwise well-run establishment. I'll be back, but I hope we have a different server next time.

DON'T GO HERE FOR BREAKFAST. I haven't tried their mediterranean fare, but based on the breakfast, I don't think I'm going back. I feel we waited close to half an hour for the food. The server was ok--she didn't seem very knowledgable about the menu. I had the short stack of wheat pancakes, which weren't horrible, slightly burnt taste. I liked their brown sugar butter. Unfortunately, I was with a friend who got their buttermilk panckakes that I tried that tasted really bland. I don't think they used buttermilk, the pancakes were too flat...I just didn't get how they could have no flavor--they tasted worse than pancakes from the box. IHOP definitely has them beat. She also ordered two eggs, and when they came out, it looked like such a small portion that she asked the waitress to confirm that there were indeed two. She was charged $4 for them. Those were two very expensive eggs. When we asked the waitress to take the barely-touched pancakes back to the kitchen, she did, but she still charged her for them. Definite miscommunication. The ambience was nice. Newly renovated diner with a nice view into Peace Plaza, but it wasn't worth the price.

Excellent for lunch or a snack. We went in around lunch time. Got great service. Food tasted great and was priced fairly. Greek dressing is amazing! Breakfast menu looked awesome! So, if the breakfast tasted anything like the lunch, try it for sure!!!!

We went there for lunch today and had a pleasant meal. My wife had the baked humus and I had the meatloaf with soup. The soup was homemade and the rest of the meal and service was good enough that we decided to go back for dinner. Big mistake. After waiting 30 minutes for our salads and another 30 minutes for the main, we knew we were in trouble. My kabob, supposedly a dish they are famous for, was so bad I sent it back and told the waitress I would get something somewhere else. My wife had some concoction that was flavorless and also over cooked. When we complained, the waitress said their lunch cook was better and their night cook over cooked things! Their night cooked should be fired, nay, banned from ever working in the food service industry again! I would have given them a 3 star if I had only the lunch but the dinner was SO BAD I went to 1 star. I would give them zero stars but that is not an option. Forget Mac's and go to Chester's next door.

I stopped in for breakfast today and was greeted & sat right away. It took my waitress between 5-10 minutes to stop & ask me what I wanted. She was not pleasant at all & had a short attitude while taking my order as if I was bothering her?! After taking my order it took about around 15 minutes, not too bad, for eggs & hashbrowns. Once she gave me my plate I realized that I had a hair in my food right away! I expected her to stop by, which is typical so I thought, and ask "how is everything?" and she never did! After waiting another 10 minutes for her to return, I finally stopped the hostess to tell her how put off I was & show her the hair. She asked "what can she do," by which time I'm 30 minutes in and just wanted to leave, and I reply "nothing I'm just going to leave because I have to start work soon & my appetite was taken a bit" & she then asks me to pay $4 for my small orange juice which I hadn't drank yet!!! What?! That's the least you can do?! I will NEVER return to this place again! If a no stars rating was an option I would've given that instead!!

Excellent breakfast spot . Feel and tastes like a traditional East coast diner. The lemon ricotta pancakes with the cinnamon butter are tasty. The "farm fresh" eggs taste like the chicken was laying them out back. Great service too.

Great little diner with fair to good Greek food. My dad had a tough time finding something, but the waitress was a lot of assistance and since they serve breakfast all day he was able to find something he wanted. I have had better, but this was a nice little place with fair portions and prices. Tasty baked humus and a good gyro plate with fair to good onion rings (batter was good - the onions only fair). Parking the downtown area can always be a little tricky, but I would enjoy coming back. If you are already wandering around downtown or coming out of B & N I would recommend it.

While I love the remodel, I'm not such a fan of the prices. I stopped by for lunch and had a gyro, soda, and onion rings for just over $11. The gyro was good, but not great. The tzatziki sauce was very good though as well as the service. The staff kept up great with the demands of the lunch crowd.

Ok food but not really worth the price. Their idea of herb seasoned is salt and more salt with a little bit of other normal spices in the background. Service was good, and everything was clean. With all the Greek places i love this isn't a place I'd go back to.

Not too bad. Fast service, decent food but could be better. Fine for a quick bite to eat.

Excellent breakfast! You have to have the pancakes with cinnamon brown sugar butter, great pies, good fish and chips. Greek food is authentic and the portions are generous. It can be a little hit and miss at times but much more often a hit than a miss.

Um ew. I ordered the "famous" villager salad (or something to that effect), topped with Gyro. The chunks of unripe, flavorless tomato were the size of my head, and cucumber was bitter and tasteless. The gyro was dripping with fat and left an unpleasant filmy feeling in my mouth. The fact that it was 12 bucks made the experience more unappealing. I won't be going back here again. My theory about their success thus far is that they are able to make it solely on first and only time visitors who come in for treatment at Mayo. I just don't see why anyone would be a regular here.

When we first got there a woman said it was worth the wait, I would have to disagree. If you like gyros don't order them from here. The pancakes were pretty good. Maybe if you stick to the breakfast food you will be ok. The service was good.

Love their food! Gyros are delicious. I also enjoy their Greek salad with gyro meat- filling and tasty. Service is sometimes sketchy but everyone is friendly. Try not to need the restroom- you'll get lost on the way.

Ate lunch after my Mayo appointment. Excellent service, plus I ate the Greek version of Quiche. It was made with Filo crust an d it was very good. Another interesting difference was the side offered wasGreek rice. I like rice and this was very good. It looked like it might have been finished in a skillet. Sarah had a Gyro plate. The Greek salad was very good too. This was a return trip for us and we weren't disappointed.

I was craving greek but it wasn't what I was hoping for. The Gyro wasn't that great for me so when I got back to Chicago I had to get one to satisfy my craving. The service was ok, I just wish i didn't have to keep asking for water.

Greek diner food at it's worst. I mean the place looks nice, but that's where it ends. Maybe a salad might be safe to eat here.
