Have visited many, many times over the past 10+ years. Dinner is always excellent. Lunch buffet is good, but their menu items are better.

Summary: - Casual Americanized Chinese takeout with above average food - Lunch buffet has a decent selection for a good price. Takeout is by weight - Friendly staff - Dinner prices can get pricey --- Chef Lee's is the reason why I now love broccoli. Their dishes that contain broccoli have just the right amount of sauce to help with part of the texture of broccoli that I don't like. That's pretty revolutionary! Their other dishes are good too. I can say definitively that their General Tso's chicken is some of the best of had. It's not too sweet and has the right amount of spicy kick. Though it doesn't have the cheapest food, this charming little store has some solid Americanized Chinese food. The interior is a cozy, though it's likely too small to handle lunch rushes. The staff are friendly and professional. Though prices can be high, especially for dinner entrees, Chef Lee's is a solid neighborhood Chinese option that can satisfy your take-out cravings.

As an occasional guest at Chef Lee's, I was looking forward to bringing home a quick dinner for the fiance, her mother, and I after a long day at work. I was a bit concerned when it took several calls to the restaurant before anyone answered the phone, then the quoted wait was 30 minutes. Jump to 30 minutes later and I arrive ready to pick up the food. My level of concerned jumped to high when I was greeted at the door by 12 other guests waiting for their food, some had already been waiting for 45 minutes. The next 40 minutes was a whirlwind of chaos in the restaurant while the pleasant but clearly overwhelmed staff admitted that the restaurant was under new management, and that the entire team on staff was new that night. So I took up the duty of working the door to turn away any additional guests while the front desk staff stopped answering the phones entirely. The new owners probably should have been on site to help on one of the first Friday nights in operation, but no one was seen who could fit the bill of being an owner. Neither beverages nor any type of discounts were offered to those of us who patiently waited for an exceedingly long time. Unfortunately this was my first and last visit to Chef Lee 2.0. I hope the new owners are able to learn from this experience and resolve their basic execution misses. Otherwise there will soon be a vacant slot in the strip mall.

Bleh. Greasy, tasteless Chinese food in tiny restaurant. Skip it!

I just moved to this area. With Chef Lee being so close, I had to give it a try. It would be nice to have a take out spot so close. I tried the lunch buffet on my first day in the area, and take out for dinner a week later. I found the lunch buffet to be pretty standard. Fried rice, white rice, chicken wings, chow mein, chicken and vegetables, general tso's, sweet and sour, etc. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. the taste was standard and kind of plain. Nothing stood out from any other hole in the wall Chinese joint I've been too. The place is incredibly small too. Don't dine in. Get it to go. I took some of everything to try out their fare. I was surprised when I went to pay that they charged by the weight. Every other place I've been too that does "buffet-to-go" has a fixed price. I mean, if I ate in I could have one and a half plates (the size of the box) for a set charge. Anyway, it clocked in around $11. I was surprised. That's not quite twice of what I used to pay for buffet-to-go in Richfield or on Saint Paul's east side. The high prices came back again when I got take out for dinner. 1 Beef and Broccoli, 1 Lo Mein, 6 cheese puffs. $30. That sort of outrageous for run of the mill Chinese. The meat in the BnB was sparse and kind of tough. The Lo Mein wasn't bad though. The cheese puffs were also kind of sparsely filled. Not that much cheese, and not seasoned - just straight cream cheese. Overall, I'm sure I'll be back seeing it's across the street from my new place... but if you have any other choice geographically available to you, you should probably go somewhere else.

I was fooled by the stars and lead by my desperation, as it was the only Asian place within walking distance to my job, but this place is a joke. The food is bland and their giant vegetables are overwhelming in all of there dishes. The people were really sweet and kind, but the food is not worth it.

Chef Lee is by far my favorite Chinese place in The Twin Cities! Chef Lee is a family favorite! I've honestly never had something there that I did not like! From their appetizers to their entrees, Chef Lee does Chinese food very well! I personally love their beef lo Mein and sesame chicken. Their Lunch Buffet is great and can also be taken to go! I highly suggest Chef Lee if you are looking for a new Chinese place! The service is great and you are always well taken care of! The décor consists of a stereotypical strip mall Chinese restaurant, but I could really care less about the décor because the food and service is great!

Good quality, reasonably priced Chinese food, available to go, to order in, or at their lunch buffet. Seating is somewhat limited by their location, so you may wait if arriving for the lunch buffet around noon, but this speaks to the favorable quality, service, and pricing. Service is always very good, while the food is exactly what one would expect at a mid-priced Chinese restaurant (although sometimes a little less spicy than I might prefer). Family friendly, and one of my regular lunch destinations when I'm in town over the noon hour.

A decent place. I live nearby so I go here on occasion for their chinese food and it is decent and the price is right. I prefer The Wanderers (Chinese) in Minnetonka or Lotus To Go (Vietnamese) in Loring Park but it is probably amongst the best chinese in Plymouth.

Chef Lee didn't impress me, but I'm planning to come back to try the lunch buffet (since it's semi-close to my work). We all had our usual (Me: S&S Chicken, Him: General Tso Chicken, Kid: lo Mein), and while it was all perfectly edible, the flavors were what I would describe as definitely subdued. The Sweet & Sour chicken was lightly battered, and perfectly sized chicken chunks, which I liked and a simple sauce. No fruits or vegetables (well, the table got a bowl of white rice). I ate it all, but it bored me. The lo mein seemed to be missing something (not that I'm an expert), and the General Tso's was nice and saucy, with plenty of broccoli, but just didn't have any pizazz, in my opinion. The service was good, and while the menu was pushing into the high side for pricing, we used a restaurant.com deal $25 gift certificate deal, so we all ate for about $20 (with tip). Which I like.

Our family loves Chef Lee. The food and service is amazing . Our kids when asked about where they want to eat 9/10 times Chef Lee is requested ahead of McDonalds.

A lunch favorite among my colleagues and I. A small Chinese buffet, but what selections they do have are really quite good. It can get busy during the lunch rush, which makes for limited seating and sometimes you're waiting along with a dozen other people for food to be refilled. Service is average.

My friends and I ate at the restaurant near closing time. However, they were very accommodating and did not pressure us to leave. As a group, we ordered egg rolls, orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken. All of our food tasted wonderful, however there were a few small pieces that were very crunchy (in the orange chicken). This was our 1st experience here; we will be back.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
