If you are looking for "down home Americana" you need look no further. We love the breakfast. The French toast with their homemade"goo" is a favorite. You can not go wrong with the biscuits and gravy or the omlettes. Relax and meet the locals, you will not be disappointed.

This place has simply the best breakfasts around! The French toast is AMAZING. And believe me when I say to only order one or two slices to begin with... Probably only one. This is a hole in the wall type of joint that I've been going to for years. It's just delicious!!

Good breakfast, straight up. No frills. Hometown cafe. Eggs, coffee & old folks. Cooks singing in the back is a bonus (we sat at the counter)! Haha An elderly regular left his mint & she brought it out to him, saying "Lyle, you forgot your mint!" Love places like this.

We used to eat breakfast at McDonald's at about 10 am on the last day of our week long annual fishing trip near Park Rapids. That was our tradition for about 10 years-- mainly for the FAST food so we could all head out toward home-- a 10-12 hour drive... The McDonalds in PR is however is slow and always messed up our order so we would end up being there for 45 minutes... We like to walk around downtown PR after that for a few minutes so this year we looked for a new breakfast option near downtown... Yelp led us to this place and we loved it!! I'm sure this is the best diner in town. Everyone was thrilled with the food. The biscuits and gravy were super and a half order was like most places' full order in size. Hashbrowns- perfect. French toast-- let me say it was most incredible!!! Order it! And do NOT forget to order the GOO sauce to go on it. The GOO is basically a banana foster sauce brought to you warm and a big serving to boot. They should ask anyone ordering FT if they want goo but our lady didn't. I just noticed it on the menu for $.50 and asked her what it was.. When she said warm carMel sauce with bananas and pecans I almost said well being me 3 orders for a buck fifty- TG I didn't cause one is more than enough! Ok so maybe I'm overly thrilled with the place simply because we were able to talk my dad out of the dollar menu at McD's.... But really I think you'll be happy :)

Well worth the visit! Breakfast is awesome! Excellent service! Might not look like much driving by but it is your classic comfort food!! Awesome!!

Every time I'm in town... I'm eating breakfast here. It may not be the nicest, cleanest, etc.. but it's damn good food. I also really enjoy it for the people watching as it seems to be a favorite among some of the hardened local folks.. Great prices, great value, great food... Eat here.. It's a solid breakfast joint.

Stopped on our way through town for breakfast and the food was great the coffee was great and the service was great.

Quick, classic and cheap. No complaints here. I had the breakfast wrap (bacon! Tots! Sausage and green pepper) and it hit the spot. The portions are big so this is a great place to fuel up before a day on the lake.

This is exactly the type of cafe/diner you Expect to find in Northern MN. Good food (not a lot of healthy alternatives though). Waitstaff if pleasant, only complaint and it's a minor one, is it still has a faint odor of smoke but that's my only complaint.

Stopped for breakfast before heading to Itasca state park. BEST BISCUITS AND GRAVY YOU'LL HAVE IN THE NORTH! Yes, I am excited about this! Dense homemade biscuits with creamy gravy. No "food service" flavor here! Friendly, and courteous staff. A throwback to what is slowly disappearing from the American dining landscape...the local cafe. A must try!

Went for breakfast after a camping trip at Itasca. Wonderful breakfast! Just what my girlfriend and I were looking for after being in the wilderness all weekend! Huge portions, cheap prices, awesome small town dinner atmosphere!! TIP! - one of those place where you walk in and seat yourself. If it's your first time, look like you know what you're doing and grab the first open table you see!

The place looks super sketchy, but the food is surprisingly delicious! A trip up north wouldn't be complete if we didn't stop here to eat breakfast or lunch. I love this place!

Good food, French toast was perfect. The diner is a walk back in time. I'm glad to see it is still here. I'll be back.

Ate here for breakfast. Good home cooking, friendly waitstaff, nice hometown feel. The locals were very entertaining. Cash only, but they do have an ATM in the back.

I try to frequent local eateries whenever possible, sometimes it works out. The outside of this place tells you to avoid it. When you walk in the appearance of the place is aged but clean. I ordered a hamburger and an order of fries because that was my craving this day. In spite of the looks of the place and the spotty service the hamburger was very good as were the fries. I won't be back because I am in search of good local food and big fish in Minnesota this summer. I have lots of places to sample so unless it is a 5 star experience it will be one and done.

Awesome breakfast w/ great service. Hot coffee, biscuits & gravy, French toast, & breakfast burrito: eggs, bacon, green peppers, cheese, sausage, & tator tots! Yum!

My grandparents used to take me here when I was a kid. 30 years and still my favorite.
