I do not work for east wind buffet, but I make it a point to go a couple times a week to this restaurant because it's so good. If you go after 4 p.m., they have all you can eat salmon, shrimp, sushi, and crab, along with five kinds of chicken, for about $13. this is where I bring my friends in town. to the creators, thanks for making a great restaurant. - joe

Pretty close to my favorite Chinese buffet in the state if I am honest, second only to one in the cities. East Wind is that little known buffet slapped into a strip mall that only the locals (and people who use Yelp) know about. It is fairly new looking inside which leads me to believe it was built to compete with China Buffet in the downtown Owatonna area. The food here... I can't figure out how they do it. It is ALWAYS delicious. I have never once gotten something off the buffet and wondered about how fresh it was, or had an issue with taste. I have been here with friends down from the cities and even they agree that this place is great. Price wise... it's spendy. But well worth it! As far as the employees go, they all seem very friendly, are more than willing to assist you with any of the food items, and if you are in good with any of them, will allow you to request dishes that are normally on the buffet if you don't see them. I have gone up to the buffet on some occasions 4 times for food and never once had an employee laugh or ask me about it... so I guess I don't have the same issue Di did. If you are looking for a slightly expensive but delicious break from the hum drum food in Owatonna, this place is where it's at.

Buffet was kept full, however the noodles/ rice / some chicken dishes didnt seem fresh. They seemed pre cooked and froze, heated through and served. It has that funky refried flavor ... Salad bar is nice... But they don't cut the lettuce leaves they just simply pull lettuce leaves and put them in the bucket full of water. After you get your toppings you have to eat it like a steak cutting your lettuce for a human size bite. They do have fresh fruit and and ice cream area. But that doesn't compensate for the lack of freshness on the buffet items . The staff seem friendly but if you go up and try to find something eatable more than twice they will start talking Chinese at you and to other staff and laugh while walking away. Unprofessional and rude

3:30 on a Saturday and the buffet was stocked and fresh. We were headed to Illinois from Saint Paul and found this place through Yelp. Worth the stop and only a minute off of I-35.

We had a good experience at East WInd Buffet. We eat at a lot of Chinese Buffets, so we have an idea of what to expect. The one thing we did not expect was an entire roast beef that was sliced like a steak and cooked to order. The remainder of the buffet was top notch. All the food was good. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. I would suggest this restaurant to my friends for a night out.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
