Our waitress was very nice and attentive to us, although the food was terrible. I got a burger and fries. The fries tasted like McDonald's French fries. The burger was not great. No taste and it was soggy. Really disappointed in the food there. Nothing amazed me

My Wife and I eat at peppers a few times a month. We love the food, Tap beer section and atmosphere. We really like seeing Rob and Julie (owners) working whether its Rob tending Bar or Julie running food, its always nice to see ownership working side my side with there staff. Rob and Julie always make a point to stop in over and say hi and ask how we are doing. The home cooked style menu is always great and they offer a nice Varity of options. I would recommend the Pot Pie! Bring your appetite you wont go home hungry, The Soup is also to die for! We also really like the fact that there is not much turnover with staff. Its nice to see the same servers and bar tenders working when we stop in for a drink and or food. I really cant say enough good things about Sgt Peppers and the staff! The only suggestion is would ask for is to have Bud Light on tap! its my personal favorite!

All the burgers are to die for! My husband and I landed in burger heaven when we visited this place! Perfectly seasoned patties! It'll have you eating down to the very last bite - no matter how full you are! NOM NOM NOM! LOVED our attentive waitress also! Service was beyond amazing!

Mother's Day Brunch at 11am today disappointing. The Aug Gratin potatoes were uncooked, like hard marbles, same for the steamed veggies, uncooked, hard carrots and green beans. The menu advertised "pasta salads", there was only ONE pasta salad and it was not chilled, should have been on ice. The Cesar salad was a soggy mess, yuk. $7+ for coffee and juice, it was not included in the buffet. That should be mentioned, on the menu or at time of seating as we asked for refills and the waitress never told us there is full price on refills. A large party was seated near us , thought should be taken for elderly people who need room to move and walk from a booth. Don't seat people on top of another. Plus I don't want to watch sports on Mother's Day, do the TV's really need to be on ? Very loud atmosphere. One positive, our server but we had to ask for refills ( no mention of extra charge. $50 (tip added ) for 2 people, advertised as $15.95 per person not WORTH the cost.

I go here twice a week and this place is the best. Love all their food. The cheese steak is the best.

Burger and fries, regular & waffle, were good and filling. Waitress was great. Atmosphere was a bit plain, cold, and not anything special. Satisfied but probably not a place I'd make the extra effort to stop at again.

Extremely bland, poorly prepared food. With a few minor adjustments, the food could have been passable. Unfortunately, only the service was acceptable at Sgt Peppers. The appetizers were all accompanied by under-salted, fatty, broken sauces. I'm still not entirely sure what the thick, gloppy yellow sauce attached to our fried mushrooms was supposed to be....but good, it wasn't. The potato skins suffered from the same ailment - a pinkish, speckled sauce that tasted faintly creamy, perhaps? For entrees, the steaks faired best. Although they were all undercooked (as compared to the requested medium and medium-well), they were otherwise normal tasting. However, BEWARE the fish. My "Canadian Walleye" smelled and tasted extremely fishy. The salmon didn't rate much better.

Had the Gyro with waffle fries soo good! Great service nice atmosphere. The menus prices reflected the quality of the food.

One of those local places I grew up with, know a ton of people that work here and own the place. Normally, the food and service here is pretty solid. Some tips, the parking lot can be an absolute mess thanks to it being a shared lot. Getting a table can be a bigger pain at peak times, so if you can call ahead or plan it out to avoid the peak times. Get seated in the bar area with my parents. Drinks are taking a bit longer than normal. Our waitress is pretty overloaded thanks to it being Memorial Weekend and what looks like a short staff. Food did take forever too. To the point where we almost wanted to stop our server and ask, but, couldn't get her tracked down thanks to her trying out for the track team. I can't remember what everyone ordered, mainly because I'm writing this a few days later and I've taken a few melon knocks in hockey since, but, my chow - the smoke house with sweet tater fries, was ok. The burger is one of those wonderful monsters with pulled pork on top of a patty and some cheese. I highly suggest getting a side of bbq too, because the scant amount they put on the burger gets soaked up in the bun rather quickly. Sweet tater fries were pretty meh. A lot of them were on the edge of going cold, which pisses me off. I often say you can't really screw up fries, but, then a place will find a way. At least they do try to make it worth it with a side of special sauce for the fries. It's a ranch mix that's rather tasty. I've also had the salads here, which are your basic, average salads for a bar/restaurant. Overall, it's a local place that's good for a happy hour and some happy hour chow. Normally hovers between a 2 and 3, depending on the staff at the moment.

Food was decent. Found the owner to be arrogant. Having not been here before, I ask the "bartender"for favorite meals, jokingly said, well do you eat here? He the stated he was the owner and made the menu. Again food decent, service was less than adequate. I chose to take the remainder of my food to go just so I didn't have to be there any longer.

Rating based on the comparable food choices in the area (slim to none) but this place had bar food that was a slight cut above, as well as a menu that was not boring. Had the Philadelphia burger which was OK. Kids menu choices were also a cut above. Great service and comfortable patio dining made this pre-Skyzone stop worthwhile. That said, one kid ordered the "fruit" and it came as a disgusting assortment poured out of an opened fruit cocktail can. Definitely skip that choice.

Sgt. Peppers is the best bar and grill in the area! My family goes there once or twice a month and are never disappointed. Fun, family atmosphere, great service and the food is AMAZING! Free popcorn as soon as you sit down!

One of our absolute FAVORITE places to eat and hang out at! When you walk in, you're greeted by a friendly host who seats you promptly and treats you to warm, buttery, salty popcorn while you peruse the menu, which by the way, is AWESOME! It has so many options from yummy classics to delicious new specials to try each month! The gyro and bacon cheeseburger are my personal favorites! Really fun atmosphere with weekly events such as trivia, bingo, meat raffle, Vikings games specials, karaoke, and a great daily happy hour! The staff is super friendly and very attentive! I HIGHLY recommend Sgt. Pepper's for any occasion from a catered banquet to Sunday breakfast to happy hour or dinner, drinks, and bingo!

Decent food and friendly service. It's a nice bonus that they give you popcorn as soon as you sit down at the table. If you're looking for a no frills meal with huge portions, give this place a go.

I wasn't planning on an All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry when I stopped in, but Sgt. Peppers surprised me with one. I was at a Birthday Party earlier that was just serving sweets & treats. I was immensely hungry by the time I left the party and knew that Sgt. Peppers was hosting a band that Alyssa & I have seen several times before, Not Quite Dead. A Grateful Dead cover band. I thought, hey, why not swing through & grab a bite. Check out a couple of tunes, and head home? Sgt. Peppers is a place I'm familiar with, having been here about a half dozen times before. It's easy to get to, being right off of 694, across from the big Carmike Movie Theater. They have a large parking lot, that's somewhat shared by a hotel & another restaurant, DiMori's. I've never found a problem with parking & this time was no different. You walk into the middle of the place, with the dining room being straight ahead and to the left. To the right is a large bar area. The band was just about to start, and I found it to be about 3/4 full in the bar area. I found a table to my liking, and waited for a server to stop by. Couldn't have been more than a couple of minutes when Stretch, my server, asked if I wanted a beverage. I inquired about a couple of seasonals, to which I went with a Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Porter. Stretch asked if I was hungry & dropped off a menu. He included a specials menu. The specials menu listed a bunch of Happy Hour appetizers that they serve between 9-11 PM on Friday. I already had in my mind on getting an order of the Deep Fried Mushrooms. They serve the BEST mushrooms I've ever had & lucky for me, I thought, was they were specially priced for Happy Hour. Then on the bottom of the specials menu was a listing of the daily specials. I look at Friday, & waddaya know? An AYCE Fish Fry! When Stretch came back with my beer, I asked about it & he said they were serving it till 11. That made my choice easy. I was asked if I would like French Fries or a Baked Potato. I did Fries. It comes standard with Hamm's Beer Battered Icelandic Cod & Coleslaw. So now I'm sitting here, sipping on my beer, listening to the music of the Grateful Dead, waiting for an unexpected AYCE Friday Night Fish Fry. I'm kinda having a moment. How did all this line up in my favor? Just good luck, I guess. When Stretch brought my supper, I asked if everything was All-You-Can-Eat or just the Fish. He said if I wanted some more Fries or Coleslaw, he'd get that for me. Ah, yes. More good luck shining on me. My supper was served on a large oval plate. It had two full pieces of Cod on top of matchstick French Fries. I got a large ramekin of creamy Coleslaw and a small plastic ramekin of Tartar. I also got a perfect wedge of lemon. The Fries were seasoned with salt & pepper, which I like. I chomped down on a couple right away. Perfect. Hot & crispy. Fresh out the fryer. I squeezed lemon onto the Cod next and dug in. The Hamm's Beer Batter coated it well. Making it a wonderful light golden brown. The Cod flaked away from itself after cutting in with my fork. A little dab of Tartar sauce made this a fantastic bite of Fish. The Beer Batter is mild. Comes through ever so slightly. The Tartar is wonderfully tangy and seems house-made. The Coleslaw is awesome. Crunchy & fresh. A little too wet with dressing, maybe. But that's being picky. It was a refreshing bite after eating so many deep fried bites. When Stretch checked up on me, I asked for the exact same plate they started me out with. I got woken up out of the musical "trip" the band put me in when Stretch brought the reorder. My plate had turned into a basket. It had been replenished with two pieces of Cod, French Fries, and Tartar. But missing was Lemon & Coleslaw. No Worries. Everything was just as fresh as the first time. This might have been one of my favorite Fish Fry's, however, I came to that because of the circumstances that surrounded it. As a AYCE Friday Night Fish Fry, on it's own, it's standard. They do it up right, but nothing really sets it apart. It's the atmosphere that highlights it. Solid service. Local charm. Live music. Family friendly. All things that make you want to come back, and we will! The cost of the AYCE Friday Night Fish Fry is $11.95. Normally I'd think that's a tad to high. Tonight, I don't. Free, live entertainment along with prompt service made me feel like I got a bargain.

Eaten here many many times and will eat here many more. Never eaten in the dining room - always the bar - where you see aged decor and furniture weathered from countless good times. Food is typical bar food but the portions are big. This place just attracts good people - I've never had so many strangers say hi with smiles on their faces... All-round good vibes!

I had the Steak and Oscar. It was very good. My son had the Alfredo with Chicken no complaints from him. The service was very good. Only complaint was the noise level. Not much can be done about that. So if you want a quiet place to eat, don't go here.

Wow! What can I say but the food here is great!! I ordered the Walleye and it was one of the best I've ever had!! You really need to check this place out!!

So we started out the night going to Dukes mainly because it's closer to home than Peppers. After 15 minutes of not being acknowledged, we left Dukes for the last time and came to Peppers. Great move! We were greeted at the door with smiles as usual and taken to a table right away. Greeted by our server who also left Dukes, she remembered my wife's regular drink(we have not seen her in a year) and brought our drinks immediately. New menu, awesome. Service, Perfect! I mean Perfect! Prices are always fair and they draw a really good crowd of great people. Krysta our server is one of the best in the business and always has a great smile.

For the life of me I cannot understand how this place doesn't have better reviews! Stopped in here last night with my brother after hours almost expecting to be turned down when asking if they were still serving off their menu. However we were met with a smiling bartender that was only too happy to let us know that they were still serving food. Kyle, the bartender, was fantastic in every way! Super friendly, very attentive, and obviously knows his way around the bar! When we were trying to make our initial food decisions I wasn't entirely sure what to get, but he made a few very good suggestions. I ended up with the Philadelphia burger, medium rare, which was amazing! The burger is slathered with cream cheese and topped with sauteed mushrooms, peppers, and onions, and then a slice of melted Swiss cheese. It is undoubtedly one of the best burgers I have had in a very long time! When people use the phrase "it melts in your mouth" they were talking about this burger! My brother got the Reuben which looked and smelled fantastic! I didn't get to taste it, but he was obviously in love with it as he finished in in quick fashion. The sweet potato fries here are also fantastic! All things said, with the impeccable (and really quick) service thanks to our wonderful bartender Kyle; and the amazing food that we got, we will most assuredly be back! I can't wait to try more on the menu!

The whole place is just... Off. The old beer bucket emitting the distinct smell of stale cigarettes should have been my warning. However I pushed through the odor and the doors. I was greeted by friendly staff and um... Popcorn. Which seemed odd considering it is a "bar and grille". I was also expecting a cozy/adult-like ambience but got a Cici's Pizza kind of vibe. It was difficult to order from the menu as it was so plain and had so much going on, too many different.. could you say genres of food? Anyway this all could have been fine IF our glasses hadn't been chipped and dirty :/. We walked out before we ordered.

We have dined here several times, usually after catching a movie at the 20plex across the street and have never been disappointed. Sure, its a bar and grill. It is going to be busy and noisy, especially on Fri & Sat nights. But the specials are good and reasonably priced. The Hamm's beer/Walleye is pretty tasty. Service is always friendly. I'd recommend this place.

I have only been to Peppers twice & it's just okay. The food is typical bar food; nothing really special or fantastic, however, the service is great! Super attentive bartenders & servers The ambiance is much like any suburban bar: large space with a mix of booths & tables, pull tabs, & a long wood bar with a mirror against the back wall. Touch screens, bar bingo, & raffles are the typical entertainment. Happy hour proved a great deal with Grey Goose sodas @ $4.00 each. Steal of a deal. Stop by for a cocktail during happy hour & possibly a little raffle or bingo.

Pretty much the local equivalent to your normal cookie cutter chain casual restaurant - with an upgraded happy hour and free popcorn. I'm generally not one for the suburban sprawl, but if for some reason I'm in this particular neck of the woods or am looking to duck out of the office for lunch Sgt. Pepper's is certainly a viable option. They generally have a number of affordable lunch specials that are filling and easy enough on the palate for the price. I haven't been for happy hour, nor will I ever likely be (though not because of poor specials), but it looks like they offer complimentary hor d'oeuvres during the weekdays in addition to decent drink and food specials. Not the ideal place for my demographic save the occasional casual work lunch, but seems to cater well to the 40+ crowd and families for happy hour and dinner.

I was here with a group for a private dinner last night and overall, I would say it was an okay experience. We had a buffet style dinner that included fresh fruit, lettuce salad, steamed vegetables, baby back ribs, fried chicken, herbed linguine and Au gratin potatoes. The food was good especially the chicken and the potatoes. I have two little complaints. My first complaint would be the level of service that provided to our group. We were in a room with a private bar in it, but it seemed when you wanted a drink, the bartender was M.I.A. If you are going to offer our group the use of the private bar, make sure you're there. Also, our menu was suppose to include a free non alcoholic drink, but no one came around to the tables to see what drinks people would like. My second complaint would be with the bar drinks. The amaretto sour that I ordered was pretty weak with more sour than amaretto. For almost $5, I would like some amaretto with my sour. So I switched my drink selection, to a White Russian, hoping for a better result. Then they committed what I would consider a cardinal sin for any bar so close to the Twin Cities, they used nondairy creamer cups that you would find at a Perkins to mix my White Russian. If I was in the middle of nowhere Iowa or Minnesota, I would be a little more understanding since maybe they didn't get that drink request that often, but they're 20 minutes away from St. Paul. Overall, I would eat here again, but I'm not in that big of hurry to go back.

This place is near my work, so I've stopped in for happy hour a few times after work. They had free chicken wings one day and deep-fried mushrooms another time. Beer is half off and Hamm's is $2 a pint, all day every day. If you are out in the East burb's it's one of your better options. Although at 5 p.m. the place was packed to the rafters with senior citizens.

This place was pretty good, and most importantly, convenient to the Best Western Hotel right across the parking lot. The service was nice, friendly, and attentive. The food was plentiful and had a bit of that home-made taste (in a good way). My only issue is that it was VERY noisy, and the tables are packed pretty tight so it can be difficult to get around (especially if you're carrying a baby and stroller). That being said, while the portion sizes were very large, unfortunately, not all the apps are as yummy as their wings. Their deep fried foods were much too oily, and the taste is more in line with a bland comfort food instead of the dynamic WOW factor. Still, a pretty good dining out option and I'd probably go back if I were ever in the area.

Bartender was great, pastrami sandwich was very good. Chicken strips were horrible, I could have gotten better from my freezer.

The atmosphere is loud and uncomfortable. The only thing I ate there edible is the chili. They have some of worst ribs I've ever had. My jaw still hurts from trying to chew them. The sauce is below average. The fries are a joke!!! Skinnier then fast food, and zero flavor!

Of all the random things, thanks to Facebook I had a grade school informal reunion over the weekend at Sgt. Peppers. The organizer originally booked a table for 8 but unfortunately only 3 of us made it. I was the first one there and the host seemed a little confused (I think he didn't know the name of the group) but led me to a table. I have to give a lot of credit to our server. We originally arrived at 1pm and ordered drinks but didn't even open menus until after 2pm. She was patient and non-pushy and it was great not to feel rushed even though we tied up a table for 3.5 hours! I had the Cobb salad with chicken which was pretty good. It came with a roll that was nothing to write home about. My classmates seemed to like the beer cheese soup and chipotle chicken tacos. The food didn't seem too creative but was fine. My real reason for taking off stars is the older gentleman who was selling raffle tickets for the Oakdale Athletic Boosters. He took over the bar area with his microphone, and interrupted our conversation many times to ask us to buy even though we clearly stated we weren't interested. I think it's great that Sgt. Peppers wants to support the local organizations but perhaps there's a better way to do it. The other reviewers are right, it definitely beats Applebees and the other chains!

    (3)
  • Bill H.

Woot, this place was pretty awesome!! You get free popcorn when you go, which is an excellent way to start a meal!! After that, it's kinda like a higher quality equivalent to an Applebee's or other chain restaurant, except better. I ordered the jalapeño burger and was glad to finally be served a genuinely spicy burger for the first time since moving to Minnesota. I was surprisingly fond of this place and would recommend it for anybody who is sick of chain restaurants but doesn't want to drastic a change!!!

I think we found a new staple restaurant. (Thanks Beth F.!) We arrived and were given the choice of a booth or table and then seated immediately. I ordered coffee for my drink and I think they serve White Rock coffee here (I am pretty sure I spotted a sign on the door advertising that) which is a great locally roasted bean. Free popcorn goes out to every table and they load up the basket and bring it to your table while they seat you so you can nibble immediately. Love that! We splurged on an appetizer sampler - which was fried heaven on a plate. Fried egg rolls (yum!), Fried Mushrooms, Onion Rings and chicken strips along with 4 sauce options. I loved the egg rolls and will try those again sometime. Actually I thought everything on the sampler was quite good. And their fry oil was pretty clean because the food didn't reek of fried fish and it was cooked perfectly - so everything was that lovely golden color. Dinner was a grilled turkey sandwich and waffle fries. I could only eat about half after all the popcorn and yummy fried bliss, but it was pretty darn good. And the waffle fries are definitely worth the extra $2.00. Not sure what the sauce is that they serve with the fries but it is mighty good. Our server was great. He refilled our coffee many times and he let us just sit and talk forever. I am usually really uncomfortable sitting for hours in a restaurant. You know how you get your bill and you start getting the stink eye from the staff to get out? Never got that here. We got a lot of looks from the staff - but it was more like they were looking to make sure we didn't need anything rather than that irritated "Stop loitering" thing. The next time we go to Sgt Peppers I want to try their cheese curds which are from Ellsworth WI. I am also wanting to try their burgers. The server we had said they have very fresh beef and I get the impression that they really try to cook things right here so I could probably order it Medium Well and get Medium well rather than a hockey puck.

Find the families in the dining area. The bar during happy hour on a Friday appeared to be 40+ crowd, trying to forget the work week. Good happy hour deals on drinks and food. Regular American joint menu of burgers, deep fried Midwestern fish, and so on. Maybe because it was my first Leinie's Honeyweiss during my weekend trip, but it was mighty tasty and refreshing. The waffle fries were so good that I probably didn't need to split them with my friend. For those that just nibble, there's free popcorn to keep your fingers busy when your hand isn't wrapped around your beer.

Ever since I discovered Sgt Peppers, I have done my best to avoid going to Applebee's or TGI Fridays or any of the other chain-like restaurants that are just like them. The food at Sgt Peppers is similar to what you will find on the menu at any other grill & bar but much, much better. The ingredients taste fresher and are actually prepared with care. And knowing that it's unique, one-of-a-kind and family owned gives you a good feeling to know that you're supporting people in your own community rather than a faceless corporation. I've been here a number of times and even during the busy hours when the restaurant is slammed with customers (for example, we came here for New Year's Eve), the service has never suffered, the quality of the food is consistently good and the atmosphere is perfect for family (in the dining room) or a group of friends (in the bar). As you're seated, they bring a heaping bowl of freshly popped popcorn to snack on (who does that anymore?!?). After that, drinks have always come quickly. And if your assigned server is busy, one of the other servers (or even the people busing the table) will give you a refill as soon as they see that your glass is starting to look a little low. I'm always impressed with the level of service we've repeatedly received at this restaurant. If you order a burger or a sandwich, I'd recommend splurging the extra $2.00 to order the waffle fries. They are awesomely addicting and you won't regret it!

I have eaten and drank at this place a few different times and I must say ive liked everything ive ordered here, this place reminds of the former Awadas on Plato Blvd in St Paul as far as the style of food and I liked that place. One time I tried their special mothers day brunch buffett and it didnt disappoint but was kinda pricey.

What a HUGE disappointment. We went for the 'prime rib' which actually USED to be very good. We were brought what looked like thin grisly steaks with hatch marks from the grill. The waitress said that's what they all look like now. We had to ask for au jus and butter, the vegetables were not crisp, they were raw. Eventually, after we complained the manager came out and said the prime rib NEVER looks like that. But she didn't apopgize, offer to give a prime rib meal at another time, just comped a beer and some coffee. On the way out we saw other plates that resembled prime rib. If their quality is so inconsistent, I can't imagine how they stay in business or why the place is so popular. We're never going back.
