Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

The atmosphere is wonderful and very friendly staff...always a great experience here...depending when you go you may have to wait 10 to 20 minutes for a table....we will wait GREAT food!

I've ever had a poor experience at an Olive Garden and never written a review good or bad. Both times my wife and I've been to this Olive Garden the entire staff far exceeded expectations. Top notch service from the moment we walked in until we walked out.

We had not been to an Olive Garden in at least 5 years. It just was not on our radar. We were going to the Ordway last Friday night and our usually downtown St. Paul restaurants were booked. We decided to give Olive Garden a try. It was an outstanding experience and we can hardly wait to go again. The call ahead seating worked very well and we were seated pretty quickly. We were offered the house wine and it was very good. We started off with Calamari and it was wonderful. Even my picky 13 year olds ate it. I had the Herb Grilled Salmon and it was outstanding. Everyone's food was fantastic. It was the best restaurant meal we have had in a long time and we eat out a lot. Our server, Zak, was also wonderful. Always attentive but not pushy even though the place was packed and he had a lot of tables to juggle. We are very much looking forward to our next visit.

Overall this place was fine, I mean it's a chain so you pretty much get what you expect in a lower to middle class restaraunt. The food was fine but the service was terrible. The waitress appeared as if she had better things to do and was not attentive to my date and I at all. It was as if we were more of a burden than anything. Our drinks were not filled, she would ask if we needed anything but before we could respond she would walk away and was just overall fairly rude. She did get better towards the end as I think she overheard us talking about her poor service. Overall this place is fine for the food, but don't expect great service

We went here with other Yelpers to try their new menu items. It was a very fun evening with good food and GREAT SERVICE! I believe all-told we tried 11 dishes over about two hours. I had anticipated tasting-sized portions, but it seemed that they gave us the normal size off the menu, so for four people it was a real feast. I'd think that two of the entrees with the salad and breadsticks would be plenty for a normal couple having dinner there. Favorite were the shrimp polentta appetizer and butternut squash pasta. The pasta was just right on the sweetness scale, anymore would be too much, but they did it right. Other winners were the prscatore pasta, anything with their meetballs, and their ol# fashions ;-). I could pass on the risotto nuggets and pumpkin cheesecake. These concepts/flavors just didn't work for me. We had Ali as a server and she was phenominal. I'd say it was the friendliest and most attentive service I have ever had at a chain restaurant, not far off from my best experience anywhere actually. What made this a five star event was having Olive Garden managers from all over the TC there. We were visited by at least five of them several times throughout our experience. Since I used to work in restaurants, I found it pretty interesting to pick their brains on the new items and the company's approach and concept. I'd imagine everyone left full and happy. They are adding some great new items, and they are staying affordable and convenient. We'll be back because of great service for sure.

What a perfect way to start a weekend with a yelp event at Olive Garden. I am usually not a fan of chain restaurants, but i do enjoy Olive Garden a couple of times a year. Our server Pernell was AMAZING. I would want to drive all the way back to Oakdale (from MPLS) to just have him again. He was funny, loved to joke with us and truly enjoyed hearing out opinion of the food. Below are my top 3 and bottom 3 meals of the nights TOP 1) Grilled Chicken Butternut Squash Alfredo Fettuccine - this is a great flavor, sweat, savory and creamy. It is pretty rich but I would defiantly get it! 2) Calabrian Wings - I know when you say Olive Garden you would never think "WINGS" but theses were great! They were quite spicy (and I can handle my spice) and had a wonderful garlic flavor 3) Garlic Rosemary Chicken - Wonderful sauce, great fresh spinach, and the chicken is very moist Least Favorite 1) Bucatini with spicy three meat sauce and sausage meatballs - This didn't have a lot of great flavor, it was very meaty, the sauce tasted like canned sauce (not typical at all for OG), the noodles were great but the meatball was bland and missing the kick they mentioned 2) Crispy Risotto Bites - I liked the outside flavor, the crispy outside and soft center, but the center risotto was pretty flavorless, I would have liked the have more sauce 3) Smashed Chicken Meatball Sandwich - This has a flavor that is similar to chicken parmesan, but the texture was very mushy so I would not get it Drinks 1) The Italian Margarita - This was a great drink, it was lovely that you could decide how sweet to make it, it was a nice sweet - not the fake kind 2) Salted Caramel Martini - great for a desert drink, very creamy and rich! 3) Pinto Noir red wine - They have a small OK wine selection

Jenna at Olive Garden in Oakdale is absolutely fantastic! We were seated quickly and everyone was friendly. Jenna took our orders and was so sweet helping my 8 year old son make a decision! Our food was great and it was overall a perfect experience. That you Jenna for making our family night out so nice!

Alright, I finally awakened from my coma from an overdose of pasta from the wonderful feast at Olive Garden and decided to write my review... Mine you that this is equivalent to a Vietnamese's wedding which is NOT abnormal to have beyond 10 courses... We had 11 courses! You figured from all my buffet reviews and I am Vietnamese this should be NO big deal, but...These are Italian meals which involves heavy carbs/cream/pasta. I was pretty much comatose on the whole thing... ""Just shut up already and give us the ##!$ review..." Here is the my Tops and Meh points: Tops which I would be glad to go back: * Salted Caramel Cocktail: If you love coffee/Kahlua, this is the drink for you. Initially, I got the Peach/Berry Sangria. Then I saw my wife let me try hers Salted Caramel Cocktail...WOW. After my second sip of her drink, she gave me that DEATH stare of 'HOW DARE YOU sipping for the second time on my precious drink'... Unfortunately, I have already had 2 drinks at this point and one of us have to drive home...I will be back for this drink alone. * Calabrian Wings: who knew you can get wings from an Italian restaurant. More important, holly smokes it is a bundle of salt-spicy goodness, especially the gorgonzola dipping sauce. I almost temped to lick the dipping sauce cup alone...If they have carry-out from Olive Garden, this would be my #1 mission every week. Much better than ANY buffalo wings anywhere in TC. * Chicken Abruzzi: this is a unique one because it can't decide to be a soup or an entrée. This soup is very similar to "Canh Chua Ca(Fish)". Canh Chua is a Vietnamese soup stable beside Pho. Although Olive Garden's version is chicken, I was really surprise how complex it was. The broth has a lot of flavor and "love" into it. I would love them to change it from chicken to some kind of fish. Definitely a plus if you are tired of red/white sauce with some kind of pasta. In the Middle but worth mentioning: * Bucantini with Spicy Three Meat Sauce and Sausage Meatballs: It is from the 'make your own' portion of the menu. Hence I was really surprise they put this in front of us. I like it a lot because of the meat sauce. There is one catch, the meatball is lifeless(needs salt) and needs a better chewy exterior texture. Not everything that is BIG is better. I think if the meatballs were smaller and better carmelized, it would be 100x better. Regardless, the pasta and sauce is pretty good - skip the meatballs. Since this is from make your own pasta menu, get some kind of real Italian sausage and this will be a perfect dish. * Garlic Rosemary Chicken: I love this dish mainly for the mashed potatoes. I can't believe I say this, "...I really didn't need the chicken for this dish." Considering my wife knows I am a crazy carnivore, she was worried if I had too much to drink and lost my mind... What is wrong with the chicken? Need more spices, mainly salt. * Roasted Tomato Caprese Salad: the Roasted tomatoes are too long/big for bite size which gives a weird rubbery texture...The strong point of this Salad is the 'fresh' Mozzarella' balls. I think everyone @ the table was fighting over this...If it wasn't for the very idea that this was brought out at #4 out of 11, there might be riot at our table. Meh points(NEED some serious improvements): * Smashed Chicken Meatball Sandwich: Bread got mussy because of its presentation(it sits in a bowl). The meatball doesn't have enough spices worth mentioning and its texture is way too mushy. Overall just plain bad. * Pappardelle Pescatore: Although this dish has everything - clams, shrimp, scallops, etc. It is also has a light clear sauce which I normally approve. I couldn't taste anything. It seems lifeless to me. It needs more zest and spices. Although there were a couple "meh" moments, I was pleasantly surprise how much we enjoyed our evening at the Olive Garden considering my wife can't have gluten. The food were plentiful and drinks were constantly flowing - just like any meal should be! Many thanks to Jonathan T for setting up for this wonderful evening and event. It was amazing how many Olive Garden managers came out to greet us and consistently checking on our meals. They definitely live up to the motto, "...when you are here, you are family." You got yourself a new fan from my heart, especially how hard you worked to make sure my gluten free wife feel special. Now, if you excuse me, I need a nap(again).

Well the boss left town and left us the credit card and told us to get lunch Olive garden seemed to be a place that pleased everyone's taste buds. I had my old standby the Portabella Mushroom Raviolis which seemed to part of some lunch special price of 9.99 and came with a nicely packaged huge salad and breadsticks. I ate every bite...of both salad and pasta. the bread sticks are not as good when not at the restaurant as this was takeout. I also got the pumpkin cheesecake---it was huge and just ok! I would not indulge in that again as the gingersnap crust and crumbles are soggy and the cake itself is on the dry side.

I would say I frequent this particular Olive Garden location about once every 3 months. I have never had any complaints. Service is always impeccable. I am one picky (CLEAN) customer and everything in this location, (tables, bathrooms, etc.) is spick and span! Excellent customer service. I don't think I've ever had to ask for a refill on my water. The 2 for $25 is a great deal and I am in love with the Venetian Apricot Chicken---DELISH! You can't go wrong with a bowl of minestrone soup to start, (don't forget the cheese!) and who would complain with those delicious mints at the end to "seal the deal"??
(5)Karin M.
It's a chain; however I think it's one of the better chains. Decent food to overindulge on. Generous portions that are enough for at least one additional meal, so make sure to get a box right away. Wide range of prices and options - something for everyone I tried their new lasagna (appetizer) as a meal which was a pleasant surprise. I suggest ordering the dressing on the side and mixing it in yourself to save a few calories - luckily the breadsticks weren't the best so they were easy to avoid this time. Service was prompt and attentive, overall a nice experience

The service was great for it being so busy on a Tuesday night, who would have thought. The salad with that dressing always hits the spot. And since it is unlimited refills it can be enjoyed over and over again. It has a good amount of lettuce and does come garnished with tomatoes, olives, croutons but at times these can be very limited in the amount mixed in. I recommend enjoying the dressing and if you need to spoon out what dressing has settled on the bottom I do not blame you. We both ordered the soup and salad combo which is pretty much unlimited soup and salad. Salad has been a"dressed" already so I will talk soup. I like doing this deal so that I can try different soups. I tried the Zuppa which was good but very brothy. The chunks of potatoes and sausage were great but just too few to really enjoy. I also got the Minestrone. This is a very delicious soup and one that you can enjoy a couple bowls of because there are only 100 calories a bowl and if you get the unlimited well that means game on. I have had their pastas on other trips and they did not knock my shoes off but definitely got the job done. Ohh yea and the bread sticks they bring before the meal. Get the while they are hot and fresh and they will be very tasty, otherwise it can change very quickly. For a chain restaurant they are doing are pretty good job.

You know, this place is pretty good. My first time to an Olive Garden, and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. Great service.

We hadn't been to an Olive Garden in years so it was a big treat over the holidays to stop in here and fill up on insanely fat boosted carbs. I had the Seafood Alfredo with a salad and the bread-sticks. My husband had the Chicken Gnocchi Veronese with a salad and bread-sticks. We also ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms as an appetizer. (I did say it was a splurge didn't I?) The best part of the meal was the Stuffed Mushrooms. They were hot - flavorful and decadent. Worth every penny. My meal was actually a little dry - they really skimped on the white sauce. My husbands on the other hand was swimming in sauce. And the big tragedy was the bread-sticks - they were mediocre. I cannot tell you what a bummer it was to FINALLY get to eat these sticks of yum and then have them be kind of dry and bland. Had I built up my expectations to high? I don't know. But I was really bummed out. So overall I would say the experience was OK. Nothing we had makes me feel a burning need to head back to the O.G. any time soon. Maybe in another four years we will try again.

All I can say about the Olive Garden is what the #### happened? I use to love the Olive Garden and we dined there today for lunch. I ordered the tour of Italy which has lasagne, chicken parm. and fettuccine alfredo. To start with the salad, there was absolutely no salad dressing on it? Did they forget or is that a way of saving money? Breadsticks are blah. O.K. had hopes that this wasn't the way the rest of lunch was going to be....oh how wrong I was...it kept getting worse, the chicken or the lack of it was dry and not seasoned at all, they plopped a tiny little bit of mozzarella cheese on it with a tiny little bit of sauce...failure #1 in my trio....next was the alfredo or shall I say the noodles on my plate because there was no alfredo sauce to speak of...blah and bland ( yuck)....failure#2 o.k. I had high hopes for the lasagne, well if you have ever bought a frozen stouffers lasagne dinner you will rate it 10 stars compared to the Olive Gardens.....big failure #3. Well my dinner partner felt horrible so he coaxed me to try a bite of his smoked chicken pasta and low and behold I pulled a big long hair out of my mouth...eeeewwww! At this point I just wanted to run for the door and never ever return. Well here comes the good part...lunch for 2 people and 2 soft drinks...$45.00, yep I typed that right $45.00! Do yourself a favor and keep on driving by unless you like a nasty tasteless excuse for food at a ridiculous price, so Olive Garden I ask what have you done? The quality of your food has gone so far down hill, if I could rate this a - stars I would. Forget complaining to the server because I will never go back and I wasn't interested in them trying to make this edible...impossible. Is there anything cooked there? I bet they have a lot of microwaves in there kitchen because nothing is cooked on site.

Kids like the atmosphere, parents need to skip meal and have a glass of wine...3 stars for giving mom and dad a break for a few minutes

When somebody calls a person a Olive Garden Italian it's not a huge insult it's just. Saying your as Italian as Olive Garden is and that's not as much as you would think ,I do enjoy the Soup Salad and Bread Stick Lunch though other than that not much here for me ,but they Must be doing something rite they are always busy!
