Probably the best food in Montevideo. I come to Montevideo to visit my wife's family a couple times a year and when I get tired of hot dish I go directly there. The fresh made potato chips are really good. Get them smothered with cheese. Good beer selection. Excellent Walleye dinner. Great Bloody Mary's. Great everything really. They also just opened a pizza joint in the back garage. Pizza is great and on a hot summer day there is no better place in town to be drinking a beer and having pizza. And to Top it off, ha! They have lots of big TVs so you don't miss the Vikings or Twins lose.

Great beer selection, not so great food. The deep fried chips were fine, but none of the meals we had were good at all. Everything seemed like it was prepackaged and just heated up. Ribs were tiny, wet and tasteless, and I think the chicken Kiev was Schwann's. The croutons and salad dressing comes in single serve disposable packets, and the bread may have been Wonder Bread. I would not eat there again. But they do get a second star for having many good beers on tap.

Toppers has great hand-cut french fries and chips. For any Pacific-Northwesterners, they remind me of the infamous McMenamin's fries which is a pretty high standard. Toppers also makes a really solid burger, and has such great happy hour specials it kind of makes me wonder how they stay in business! For example, Mondays are $1.99 burgers (with or without cheese). For an extra buck it comes with fries or chips. On top off all that they've got over 16 beers on tap, and a huge patio to enjoy it all on and soak up a bit of sun!

This is the best place to eat if you are passing through Montevideo! The food is far better than typical bar food. Probabaly the best within 50 miles. Of course they have the usual burger, which my boyfriend orders and loves with the hand cut fries. But my favorite is the grilled walleye, with a salad and the fresh cut potato chips - so good! The bloody mary I had last time I was there is the best I've ever had and the beer selection is great. The newest offering of hand tossed pizza is...yummy! The service was great too-as a side note I'm a fan of the pull tabs ....there are so many boxes to choose from I actually win once in a while :o) I recommend the drive if you live anywhere near Montevideo it's definitely worth it!
