Stopped in to try Jimmy's hanger steak. Very tasty. Cooked to order. The balsamic vinegrette dressing on the house salad was very good (not sure how places screw that up, but they do). Still, the BEST lemonade in town! To be honest, Bacio's hanger rates above this one, but not by much. They're sides have a little more style tgan Jimmy's as well, but I would order it again. Still, Jimmy's never fails to impress. Consistantly good.

Went here for lunch today. Had the mini crab cakes as an appetizer. They were what I would call "Midwest good." Way better than most you will find in the twin cities, but nothing like you'll get on the east coast. My SO got the French dip and fries, and they were pretty tasty. Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. I had the Chef's special sandwich of the day, and it actually made me sad. The sandwich is advertised as a grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, pepperjack cheese, and a roasted jalepeno aioli on an artisanal roll. Chicken was overcooked to the point that it was inedible. Roll was as dry as the desert. Pepperjack cheese had no kick whatsoever. There was not a drop of aioli in sight (I actually searched for it and could not find it on the sandwich at all). Tomatoes slices were thicker than the chicken (way too thick). There were maybe two slices of avocado on the whole sandwich, which did not help with the dryness. This sandwich was about as flavorful and moist as cardboard. I ate maybe a third of it because I was starving. When my server took the plate, I wasn't even asked if I enjoyed the sandwich. Major disappointment for $12.95. Service was a bit slow, but it was the middle of the lunch rush so that is understandable. Overall, I might give this place another shot but I would advise anyone against ordering a chicken sandwich here!

Service was kinda weak--no hostess and none of the servers or bartenders acknowledged us when we came in. I finally had to go up to one of them and ask if we could be seated (sign up front says to wait to be seated). They only gave us one menu (there were 3 of us), so I had to get up and get another menu myself. They didn't bring us water, which I think is an expectation at an upscale restaurant. Never offered to refill our other beverages either, but once our food came out we never saw them again anyway. At first I thought they were understaffed, but we were there for HH on a Sunday, only half tables full in bar area and dining room was empty. At least 4-5 people on staff. While it took a long time to be seated, order, etc (I also had to flag someone down to ask for our bill), the food came out quickly and is the only reason this review made 3 stars. It was delish! Best thing we had was the shrimp from the HH menu. The bread and sauce were phenomenal. Skip the guac, only so so. The chicken skewers with peanut sauce was also yummy.

Jimmys must be doing something right as it seems to have a really strong crowd on most nights. The location in Minnetonka just off HWY 62 at first may seem strange, but it is in the middle of a large area packed with offices as well as the new Optum HQ just to the south so it can be pretty busy. We've been dining here for years and have always found something on the menu that we like. Often, we will just have a meal of appetizers as there are several that we are quite fond of including the shrimp and the tenderloin sliders. Add a couple glasses of wine and you are good to go. I like that they are on open table as it makes things easier knowing you can get right in when you arrive.

When your stuck in the hotel that shares this parking lot- Jimmy's is your only source for a drink. Unless you'd like to cab it somewhere else or even worse yet, drive. Jimmy's was in walking distance, so a group of us ended up there pretty regularly. It was never very busy. The food is on par with Chili's. The drinks specials seem to go every night no matter what time. It's always Happy Hour. I would only go again if I'm stuck in the vicinity and in need of a drink!

Excellent food and excellent service. Jimmy's. If Yelp is trying to hold you hostage and manipulate your reviews , you should fire them. I wanted a simple positive review and they want me to jump through hoops to post it. Boo Yelp!

Good food, great happy hour, just not great customer service. Staff has been hit or miss the handful of times I've been here. Happy hour on weekdays is always pretty busy, but the selection is great, so I can see why. Great place for after work, or dinner especially if you live nearby.

Great food.. Great service... Have been in a few times for lunch.. Can be really busy but that is what happens when its good right? Have had a variety of items.. The soups are great.. Salads are crisp and fresh.. Burgers are tasty. Great place to grab a bite.

It truly is A-ok. Some good, some not so much. Very nice interior, very nice menu. The chef was a little heavy handed on the pepper on my short ribs. Just short of being so much that the ribs couldn't be eaten. And I have a quibble with the cheesecake I had for dessert because it clearly wasn't made onsite but shipped in from heaven. See, A-ok.

The meatloaf open sandwich was flavorful and delicious. Best I have had in years. The pork chops were average. Atmosphere was nice with a minimal amount of noise after 12:30p on a Sunday.

Don't wait, run to Jimmy's! If you are a fan of fresh Halibut, it is flown in fresh everyday and the season is just starting. Prepared in 5 unique ways it was tough to decide which to try. I selected the champagne sauce over wasabi mashed potatoes and it was excellent. Wife had the petite filet, done medium well with their au gratin potatoes and broccoli. Excellent all the way. Nice selection of craft beers and happy hour until 6pm on a Saturday. Service was well paced as we were there to enjoy a nice dinner, not rush through and run. A very nice variety of menu items that could make you spend quite awhile making your choice. Definitely a return on a regular basis even though it took 45 minutes to get there. We will be back! Thanks Jimmy's for a great evening.

Great food and beer/wine selection. Only downfall was the music, but I have to assume they don't know good music here in Minnesota!

Very cozy & inviting holiday decorations, excellent service, good wine list, & tasty entrees -- what's not to like? Only the price point. Entrees are small given what you're paying for them, at least I thought so for the pasta. We celebrated my sister's college graduation here the Saturday before Christmas. We had a large-ish party (9 people) that arrived at 7pm. 90% of the restaurant was full, but we were seated right away & our server stopped by with water immediately & took our drink orders. She made some good wine bottle recommendations, even though she did up sell us in a pretty obvious way. I didn't mind it because her wine choice was spot on with our meals. Our water glasses never went empty either. I ordered the spinach tortelloni & everyone was jealous with my choice. The sauce was creamy & rich. The pasta was very tender & the spinach tasted fresh. My only complaint is that for $15.00 I received a portion the size of something that I'd order at Noodles & Co! I guess I won't get the fresh ingredients & flavor that I got at Jimmy's if I go to Noodles & Co, but still. $15.00 for a pasta dish seemed a bit high given the size. I'd like to bring my boyfriend back here next time I am in town from Chicago!

I like this place long time ago, today back for more but I don't feel the old Jimmy's... It's too busy or less cared if I'm changed for extra I wanna receive something better... Also needed to be cleaned their grill!!

This place is nothing short of amazing the staff was accommodating and polite. The food and wine pairings were endless with great suggestions. I would recommend this place for any meeting or family dinner. The ambiance is that of a New York styled building with beautiful decor and and stylized murals. I look forward to coming back!

The quality of the food and service is very inconsistent. In the past, I was a regular - 3x a week - business, friends, etc. Now, it depends on who is working at the time. There was a time when the food was always great, but the consistent turnover has impacted the service. The prices are on the higher side - I like independent restaurants, but they must maintain a certain level of quality. For steaks, I go to Wildfire & other higher end restaurants in the area. Consistency is the key. You never want to be in a situation where the food & service is an embarrassment. For that reason, I highly recommend staying away - why take the chance?

Good place for happy hour, good after work crowd of professionals looking sharp. Enjoyed the filet skewer, shrimp and ahi tuna. Will go again.

I will start by saying the crab cakes were great but the steak and service were not. Our waiter didn't check on us once, not even to see how the food after we had a few bites. He did check on the tables around us multiple times but would only walk past us and avoid eye contact. Yes we are young but that doesn't mean we don't deserve good service. Dessert may have redeemed this terrible valentines dinner but it was never offered. When our waiter did return after our plates were cleared he just silently stood at the table until I asked for the check. If you're looking for something more polished and flavorful I would suggest going elsewhere.

We dined at this restaurant during the lunch rush. We assumed the service would be slower than usual but it was quite fast. We ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer and wedge salad with added chicken. The dishes were both delicious and fresh. We were please with our dining experience and plan on returning.

Solid food and polished service. Great spot for business lunches/dinners, not so much ideal for a trendy date night with your hot young thing (unless your 60 years old). Strawberry goat cheese salad was superb! A light yet fulfilling salad with an even balance of strawberries, goat cheese (yum!), walnuts, and champagne dressing. The brownie sundae was decadent. Moist fresh brownie with a light crisp drizzled in thick chocolate syrup and topped with ice cream which was topped with whipped cream which was topped with caramel. Price seems reasonable. We visited for restaurant week (a salad, sandwich, or burger plus a mini dessert for $10), so got a pretty decent bargain.

Oh, boy, I hate to write a negative review. I've eaten here many times and I will go back. It was a cold and rainy night and I was looking forward to my Porterhouse. We met some friends there and overall the food and service was ok. It was busy. Here's the rub. I ordered my Porterhouse pepper encrusted medium. It didn't come that way and so server said it was an easy fix. Well, it didn't really take and now the top and bottom were well done and dry. I'm not a complainer. Server asked me, "Is it ok?" I said, "it's ok." Ironic because I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago and it was really good. I suppose I should have asked, "Is ok good enough?" Is this on me because I didn't demand a new steak? Maybe.

  • Kate P.

I eat here so often I might not be completely objective but after seeing some of the other reviews, I had to chime in. Yep, there are a lot of us corporate types there. If you are a 23 year old in T-shirt and shorts looking for bottled bud and a burger under $10, head north on to Shady Oak to Scoreboard. They have common ownership and they have great food in a sports bar atmosphere. Don't let the t.v.s in the bar at Jimmy's fool you, Jimmy's isn't a sports bar. What it is is a great local spot with great food and the best service in town. A new chef in the kitchen has recently shaken up the menu and the food is even better than before. Still the best crab cakes in town and I am hoping that with spring my favorite champagne wasabi halibut will be back. You will find the trends i.e.. beet salad, brussel sprouts, and a variety of sliders (try the pulled pork) along with steakhouse favorites. Try the new brunch menu on Sundays that has old favorites and soon to become favorites. Yes this place is more expensive than your average sports bar or pizza place but much more reasonable than the chains (Ruth Chris, Oceanaire , Capitol Grille, McCormick & Schmick) with food that is as good or better and service that has the top end chains beat by a mile! You can't go wrong at Jimmy's. Try the awesome new happy hour menu.

We went to Jimmy's to celebrate Father's Day and took advantage of their brunch buffet. The food was plentiful and items didn't appear to sit out for long before being rotated out with fresh replacements. Their caramel rolls were amazingly gooey and delicious and the bacon was phenomenal. Our server was attentive, I don't think my coffee ever even got lukewarm, but not intrusive. We chatted for so long that we probably stayed longer than the typical buffet dinner but our server didn't seem to mind. Overall it was a relaxing way to enjoy Father's Day and we will definitely be back again.

I really like this place, it's kind of hidden in minnetonka/Eden Prairie. It's a cool supper club type atmosphere. Great service! Really good food and cocktails.

Almost a HARD boiled egg for Eggs Benedict?!!!?? Over cooked bacon! Come on I do better myself at home This place has been good for lunch and dinner BUT never come here for brunch!!!!!!! But the warm cinnamon rolls were GREAT

Solid restaurant in Minnetonka. Went for dinner on a Sunday night. It wasn't very busy - we gathered that it does most of its business during the week with nearby office workers. That was fine for us. I enjoyed the petite filet mignon. It was pretty perfect. Juicy inside with a good crust outside. And the size was just right to be able to enjoy the bread basket and the sides (green beans and whipped potatoes). Husband enjoyed his pancetta crusted halibut and the mother-in-law really liked her shaved beef sandwich. Service was excellent - very attentive without being intrusive. Would definitely give Jimmy's another eat sometime.

  • Jessica K.

OK, I must admit I need to give this place another try, but I am open and willing to that. We ordered as a group the apple and brie flatbread, which was OUTSTANDING! I ordered the softshell crab sandwich, not aware that there was a crab you eat whole...so that really didnt sit well with me. I ate the sandwich despite my disgust (it was completly my fault). The service was good but the ambiance was confusing...was i underdressed was i fine...i just cant figure it out!

Ordered food to go - and made the mistake of thinking they could get salads correct. They don't serve the Champagne salad any longer, but haven't bothered to update their online menu. Boiled eggs missing on the 2 chop chop salads ordered, with the wrong cheese added, which made it inedible for one guest. $90 worth of salad and bbq shrimp and wings, and we won't be back.

  • Kimi R.

Lunch menu items average around $12. Long list to choose from which is a plus. They don't require reservation and wait is not long for an open table. Nice and spacious seating for inside and outside. Food was not exceptional and little bit above average.

  • Z J.

There aren't a lot of sit-down restaurants to choose from. This one is ok. It has sandwiches, salads, etc. It is a better deal if you go during Restaurant Week. The patio is nice in the summer.

Pricey - and almost worth it. Took my mother here for brunch recently, and was pretty impressed. Odd location, to be sure. Interior decor was very... upper scale dated suburban, if that makes sense. I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict, Mom tried the steak and eggs. We were both pretty happy with the dishes, but if you're interested in those specific meals, I would direct you to the Good Day Cafe. Free caramel rolls prior to the meal was a very nice touch, but not my favorite. Bloody marys (I had the spicy version) were decent - well spiced. Service is such a big part of the dining experience, and I was really impressed with everyone that we encountered. The waitress was top-notch, and the manager stopped by to check on us at one point as well. I'd recommend if you have out of town parents looking for a quiet brunch.

We used to love this place but it really seems to have gone downhill in the last year. Food is expensive but not very good and service has been so so. I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

so my coworker Tim arranged to take me to this place as a welcome lunch. its really located in minnetonka but i guess you can say border line of hopkins... place isn't so shabby from the outside but once you open the door and get inside its a different story. since my visit was during lunch hour, the place was jammed packed with corporate people... the menu was more expensive than i had expected. Tim was treating so i made sure i got something that wasn't too pricey- I'm just nice like that. i ordered a medium rare prime rib sandwich. It took forever to get it and i was running out of stuff to talk to tim about. LOL once it arrived - it was "cooked" I ordered medium rare! i ate it anyway since i didn't have time for them to take it back and get me a new plate. Tim ordered the club sandwich- sorry but i don't pay 15 bucks for a sandwich.... not worth coming to Jimmys unless you re coming for a real entree. everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals... I'll give it a 3 for have a clean restroom and a nice setting...

This is my first time here and without a reservation, we got a table in the bar. I went for a chicken rice soup that is a bit on the thick side. The pan fried Walleye main course is tender without being oily. I went for a Tempranillo to wash it all down.

    (3)
  • Paul D.

Meh is right... I had the sushi (tasted like gas station sushi) and a "kobe" beef burger (Is it really kobe beef if it's $11?) All in all, it was on par with an Applebees type place. The place was packed, probably because it's the only place near all the businesses/Marriott to grab a drink without having to get on the highway. Fun time atmosphere, I'd give it another try and make different food choices.

TIYW: trust in your waitress. We had a great waitress and I followed her advice by ordering the prosciutto halibut with au gratin potatoes. My wife who never likes to eat fish said she could have polished off my meal. Luckily, she did not have to as he oaxacan chop was every bit as good. We completed the meal by sharing a creme brûlée for dessert. Jimmy knows how to cook!

This strip mall sports ish bar doesn't stand out. On a night when my friend was having a birthday we practically had to tackle our waitress for drinks and so-so pizza and sliders on the Happy Hour menu. Others have rated it highly so maybe I should try again and have dinner.

    (2)
  • Karen T.

Outside it looks a little divey, like maybe it was a Denny's once upon a time. What a mistake to make. This place is really one of the best restaurants in MN. It's a traditional American steakhouse, but with all the touchups and class of Wildfire or McCormick and Schmick's. All of their meats are wonderfully seasoned, the side dishes are savory and delicious...and I've been to some top steakhouses in LA and Chicago. I'll be sad when this secret gets out to the rest of the world - this place will be a lot more busier then.

  • Lucas P.

Wow! Ask for Melissa, she's a long timer loyal server and knows her stuff! Energetic, professional service from her only made the experience of the world class food better! I don't give five stars unless it should really get ten. The Kobe beef sliders are amazing, the sea salt fries are good and not greasy. Perfect beef to condiment proportion. The creole linguine was spicy and amazing, but don't mute the flavor. The chicken in the pasta left some to be desire for, but didn't even need it! The menu is extensive, the atmosphere is upscale but jeans are welcome and is somewhat relaxed. The prices are spot on and the place isn't stuffy. Go now! Ask for Melissa!

Excellent service, understated atmosphere, very good food. Myself and several colleagues ate at Jimmy's and truly enjoyed ourselves. First, the bar is very comfortable and the service was top-notch. Each of us has walleye or halibut dinners and they were outstanding. Good portion size, excellent flavor. The sides were somewhat blah but I didn't come to Jimmy's for their sauteed spinach and asparagus. I'll be back to Jimmy's and expect I'll try another outstanding fish entree.

I've been to Jimmys a few times and every time I feel the same way. It's a nice environment with decent food but that's all. I had the brie and apple flat bread and it was soft, yuk. Flat bread should be crisp! The strawberry salad was fair. The server despite a long discussion couldn't remember to put the dressing on the side. The drinks were exceptionally expensive and honestly they didn't use very much alcohol and filled the martini glass 3/4 of an inch below the rim. I would only go there if its about convenience to location otherwise I would pick anywhere else.

  • Adam G.

Overpriced, poor service, mediocre food. If you like to hobnob with some "execs" and drop a load of cash, this place is for you. I would give 1 star but I'm feeling nice today.

  • Jeremy F.

This is an excellent restaurant for the area and the food is great. Steaks are always very well prepared and the meal variety is very good. Sometimes they end up with less than stellar quality of ingredients though and that makes a big difference. I've had some visits where the steak is a 5-star cut and others with a "found at the Walmart grocery" quality. Service is generally pretty good but can sometimes vary by which server you end up with. Not the cheapest place around, but not the most expensive either. Pretty good bang for the buck.

JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKES!!! Order them. Its not those mushy where's the crab in my crab cake, crab cake. It real, meaty, oh so good thank goodness I don't (eventhough its worth it) have to crack the crab myself, crab cake. I know but I'm serious its really good. I work close by and love their lunch specials. I usually do one of their cool lunch combos (salad and sandwich, soup and salad, or pasta and salad). Not on the online menu is their desserts, they do this cool trio of small tiny desserts thats perfect to share after a good meal.

Major disappointment. The menu sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, the people in the kitchen are not up to the task of cooking. Steak eas overdone. Wasabi mashed potatoes were bland and void of taste. And our server could not have cared less. I knew we were in for disappointing experience when she greeted us with "whats shakin you dudes" as we were seated. This place could be great. Unfortunately, it's not even close to being good.

I've always had great meals and great service here and it keeps my wife and I coming back. She claims it to be the best steak she's had in the Twin Cities. (Yes, we go to Manny's, Ruth's Chris, etc.)

Stopped in at jimmy's for a quick drink and appetizer on a cold winter night and was greeted by a warm and cozy bar just calling my name. I ordered a nice glass of red wine (from their fairly complete wine list...nothing too showy, but yet, something for everyone) and the bruschetta. Both were yummy (actually the bruschetta was very filling and fresh). The service was great and it was an enjoyable hour or so. Only reason I am not going with 5 stars, is that all of the TVs had sports on them, which gave me little to nothing to watch while noshing and sipping. But otherwise, a great spot to relax.

One of my favorites. I work in the nearby office park, so it is a choice location for after work drinks and/or dinner. I have been here several times for dinner, but I recently went for Brunch on Sunday morning. As good as the dinners are, I was over the moon about the brunch. They start you off with a free goey caramel cinnamon bun. It was delicious and set the mood for the whole brunch. The prices were very reasonable, and they make a great Bloody Mary. I'm a big fan.

  • Jen B.

Went here because we had a gift card, and who is gonna turn down free food!? A little out of the way for us, but hoped it would be well worth the drive. Well, it was and wasn't' all at the same time. The food is a bit over priced, if you ask me. And it was...ok. We had reservations, but ended up in a booth in the bar. It was SO loud in there, I couldn't hear across the table. The waitress was a huge contributor to this problem. For such a small person, she was really loud. She yelled so loud in my husband's ear at one point, it startled him and he had to move away. It was surreal how loud she was. She also came back to our table, for the first time after dropping off our food, about 15-20 minutes later, after we had finished, and said something like "Wow, you guys eat FAST" I was thinking, no bitch, you just haven't checked on us for like 20 minutes. Plus, that is kind of a rude comment! Any ways, it was worth it only because we had to pay very little for our meal. I doubt I will go back though unless it is for free food again!

What a hidden GEM! My wife and I frequent Jimmy's quite often. They have the best Ribeye in town... Now I eat the Fresh Alaskan Halibut which is prepared many different ways, but the Champagne Wasabi Halibut is my choice. We love the Brunch too. Oh ya we love it so much we had my parents 50th wedding anniversary dinner in their back fireside room. Top notch service with very consistent food. Highly recommended.....

Great food - fresh seafood. Get the crab cake for a starter, and rock the halibut with prosciutto for entree. Pricey, but if you know that going in, totally worth the extra $10-$15 per person for food that is miles above the regular Minnesota seafood.

Good food, friendly staff, but the food is overpriced. I've heard the crab cakes are the way to go.
