Super convenient for pre-show nosh or drinks, and we put it into the lunch rotation in the summers when they throw open the garage door. Standard bar fare done pretty well. Nothing spectacular but a great option if you need to pick up concert tickets while you dine.

Wanted something affordable and greazy before the show. This fit the bill. Likes: Muffaletta grilled cheese. Cheesy and meaty. We literally got seated at the table next to Mayer Hawthorne (the badass singer that we came here to watch)..Amazing. Mushroom quesadilla and sweet fries Lots of seating. Meh's: pork belly spring rolls dipping sauce trio 90% chance would come back to meet more famous celebrities...with 99% chance that will be disappointed...But will stay to eat grilled cheese sandwiches to eat away the disappointment.

I can't speak to the food here since I've never ordered anything but pre-concert cocktails, but they pour their drinks strong and I've always had quick and helpful service from the bartenders and servers. And perhaps it's the whole "music brings people together" thing, but it's always been easy for me to strike up an interesting conversation with the person next to me at the bar - so you should probably try to do the same. Also, FYI: drinks are $1-2 cheaper here than next door at First Ave., so if you're looking to save a few bucks, The Depot is your spot.

The Depot has plenty of interesting vegan options now. Their ears must have been ringing after Kedar's review on 7/17/2010. I stopped in after a play at Pantages on a whim for a snack. I try to avoid "bar food", but when you're starving, it's late, and you want something vegan, it leaves few options. I was happy to see lots of vegetarian and vegan items on the menu, clearly marked with one * or two ** - even the onion rings are marked with two **! I decided on an order of mock duck tacos. While they were nowhere near as delicious as Senor Wong's "El Mockos" (likely because they weren't fried, actually), they were devoured and enjoyed. The crowd was a diverse mix of hipsters, punks, sports fans, and theater-goers. I dig it. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit.

This is my new favorite place! It has a contemporary/punk rock/sports bar vibe, so the atmosphere is a lot of fun. I had the breakfast burger - it was perfectly cooked, and I don't think I've ever had a burger with more flavor. The beer, wine, and cocktail list was excellent and the service was great! I highly recommend it for a casual, fun night out with friends.

Mmmm, grilled cheese with basil! We were heading to DT Mpls for an event at SEVEN and didn't really know where to eat. We had tried to go into this place on a Friday night for a quick drink recently, but it was so busy we had to skip. I made a mental note to check it out the future. This was a perfect opportunity. We walked right in on recent Thursday evening around 6:30. We each ordered a beer - $3 tall boys of Coors Light and Millers Lite. My eyes immediately went to all the grilled cheese flavors, a good grilled cheese can't be beat. I decided on a Caprese with sweet potato fries and a cup of tomato basil soup. My dining companion got a Reuben and chips. The food came pretty quick and I have to say, it was really good. The bread was perfectly buttered and crispy. The basil was a great compliment to the cheese and tomatoes. The fries were good, albeit a little too salty for my taste. The soup was okay, nothing special. Our server was spot on, the food was quick, and prices right. The total was around $35 before tip for 2 sandwiches, the soup and 4 beers. I'm not much for hanging around DT, so I'm not sure what the place turns into after hours, but I would check the place out for lunch, an HH or a quick bite to eat.

I came in to Depot Tavern not knowing what to expect. I was in the area not knowing what is around and I had to drink something. Water? Coke? Alcohol? Upon arriving I was very thirsty. I really felt welcomed when the female bartender noticed that I was thirsty and told me that the booths are private. I was a little taken aback as I wanted a little privacy. The WIFI wasn't really working properly and I felt disconnected. I asked for a beer. The place was dead. But I knew that it was going to pick up. I just knew that I needed to sit down. Tabling myself I soon asked for another whiskey coke listening to some Johnny Cash. Nothing could be more American. This was a real bar. I would highly recommend coming here. Bing bam boom. Great service. Highly organized. Great atmosphere.

The vegetarian options are seriously limited after 11pm, which is a shame because the full menu has some great options. I had the veggie burger, which just tasted like fried. The actual ingredients were impossible to discern. Served with fries, the platter was an oily, artery-clogging, tasteless mess. I ate about a third of it before I called it quits. We were there the Sunday before Memorial Day and the Depot was woefully understaffed. First Ave had a sold out show that night (attended mostly by festival goers hungry from a day in Shakopee) so it seemed obvious they'd be busy. In any case, I'm usually sympathetic to overwhelmed servers, but ours was such a jerk that I regret staying. Terrible attitude, rude responses and all around abysmal service. Easily the worst waitress I've had in recent memory. Amazing beer list, though. My previous visits were more in the 3-4 star range, but this last experience was a negative 200, so the rating reflects an average.

Cheaper than the Mainroom - if you need a drink and it is not insane, come here! I like the Depot although it can fill out quick. Great bar food. Can buy tix to First Ave. and others. If you want a relaxed setting with good eats and drinks The Depot is your jam.

A restaurant on the Hennepin Ave part of downtown that i wasn't aware of? Madness, I say! Well, I totally got owned when my friend asked me if I've ever been to this place and I, head hung low, had to say no. The only way to rectify this issue is to actually go in and eat at The Depot Tavern, and I'm so glad I did. The Depot Tavern is a really neat restaurant with shiny chairs and tables, a big bar in the back, great micro-brews on tap, and the coolest gigs next door (First Ave, but of course!). It took me a really good few minutes to decide on what to get, because all the options look freaking amazing. I eventually went with the Potato-Crusted cod fish sandwich with a side of tots because a) I like potatoes and b) I like fried potatoes and c) I like anything wrapped in fried potatoes. Hell to the yeah, this sandwich was legit. The cod fish overstepped its bread boundaries, like a rebellious sea kitten; it was that big. The potato crust was so ridiculously crunchy, I had to wear earplugs. The Cafe aioli was curry-licious and creamy. And the lettuce and tomatoes were just there for the ride. The tater tots were also very good; I really don't think there's a wrong kind of tot. The ranch costs an extra $.50 though, just an FYI. The beer I ordered was delicious and uber-hoppy for my taste, so I'm gonna have to try a different one the next time I roll around this joint.

We went to the Depot Tavern last night to watch a Mizzou game. Pretty good, I Must say! Our crew ordered the grilled cheese, breakfast burger, and some tater tot "stretch" thing, all very good. I am gluten free, and the waitress was very accommodating, even came back to specifically ask me if my meal was just right. Decent prices, decent beer/drinks selection, and good specials. Pretty good tvs to watch the game, plus Mizzou won, which ALMOST justifies 5 stars.

I'm so glad that the brilliant folks at First Ave decided to open this place. What a great place to stop by before or after a show at either the Entry or First Ave! Plus, the food is honestly really good - the watermelon gazpacho is a dream in a bowl! Plus there are vegan and vegetarian options, so no one should leave hungry. It's seat yourself and it does get busy, so be forewarned - if you're leaving a show and want a bite, high tail it in there to grab a seat!

My friend and I headed over to the Depot after some drinks at Mission in the IDS tower. There was a line, but somehow we snuck into a couple seats at the bar. I ordered the Cuban burger, but with a chicken breast instead, and it was fantastic! The happy hour had Surly Furious for $4, which was awesome, and then after that I get a Bud 16oz can for 3 bucks. The food was really good, lots of good ham and all the good things about a Cuban. My friend loved his order as well. There was a guy next to me that was from Louisiana that was pretty drunk and bought us a shot of Jameson. This dude was not normal, so my friend and I got out of there as soon as possible after the meal. Good service, and a cool atmosphere.

This place has the fact that it's right next to first avenue going for it. and the screens showing the stage are pretty handy for knowing when you need to down your beer to catch the act that you were waiting for. when we got in we were told that it would be 15 minutes til they could put us somewhere. we looked around, pointed, and said we're going to sit there (at two empty seats at the bar against the wall). the host looked at us and was like ... um ..yeah...you can sit there. (seriously? from 15 minutes to immediate?). I ordered a wedge salad...the lettuce was chewy and I really didn't want to finish it even though I was really hungry. I'd come back here for only beer, I guess.

We happened upon the Depot due to their advertisement for cheap beer for walking to the stadium. After we bellied up to the bar in the dark main room, my husband ordered the Surly IPA on draft, not realizing that we were here for the cheap beer instead. Lucky for us, there were 3 chairs available at the bar, even only 30 minutes before the first pitch. The staff was friendly, and there were plenty of TV's, even showing the College World Series. Even though we didn't opt for the special, the beer price was decent. The food looked good, but I was saving myself for the stadium. I would happily stop back if I had a little more pre-game time.

We took in the Lookbook show at First Avenue, but prior to the main act...we had a hunger that needed to be satiated. How convenient that First Avenue now has The Depot Tavern?!? If you are at a show at First Avenue, the only way to the Depot Tavern is to walk through 7th Street Entry, or outside around the block. If you're at 7th Street Entry, bonus for you! The wait staff at The Depot are stellar. I say stellar, because our waitress complemented me on my tattoo. You get a compliment if you compliment me, that's how it works you see. From the moment we walked in, it felt comfortable, open, and genuine. The menu is amazing...but we only wanted appetizers, and we settled into a couple of Grain Belt Nordeasts, an order of Moshe's Russet Fries, and Deep Fried Cayenne Cheese Curds. The fries? Freaking amazing, with three dipping sauces (that aren't necessary due to the amazingness of the fries). Fresh cut, russet goodness...fried to a golden wonderfulness. The BEST fries I have had in a long time. The curds? Spicy, wholesome, not overly greasy...the perfect cure for a drunken episode at First Avenue or 7th Street Entry. The portions? Well enough for two hungry souls. We loved the atmosphere, and the fact that we now have another place to hang our hat when we go to shows. I'm looking forward to future visits, and a taste of the Smoked Brisket Chili (another reason its' hard to stay vegetarian), and the Inside Out Burger (reason #2 it's hard to stay vegetarian)....I'd love to meet the cook who designed the menu, they sound fun!

Love the Vegan selections! I've been there several times before shows and the relaxed atmosphere is great. Casual, HDTVs, high tables, low tables, 2 booths, and mellow staff make this eatery a comfortable place to eat.

As huge First Ave. fans, we were incredibly relieved when the Depot Tavern opened next door. Usually we had to wait to grab a bite to eat until after our concerts because everything else around the area was a bit too fancy schmancy for a couple of folks about to head into a mosh pit. The Depot Tavern has great service (our waiters and waitresses are always stunningly pleasant), fast return after ordering (perfect for when you're not sure whether that opening band is going to play a full set) and the food is hot and delicious (the tomato basil soup with the Classic Grilled Cheese is epic).

This is an overdue review. We went here pre-show at 1st ave. I was starving and needed a drink, and we had wanted to come back after the Yelp party here. I wish I could remember what I ate (clearly not memorable) but I remember being content but not overly impressed. Service was a bit slow, but they were kinda busy. The drink was very strong, for that I am thankful! Would probably come back if the occasion arose.

The only reason I give a 4 instead of a 5 is bc they have one server named Leann that always seems to be in a terrible mood. I somehow manage to get her 95% of the time I go there. She is never polite and always just throws tickets at me when i purchase them. She also never checks back. She seems to only be friendly with ppl she knows standing in the doorway. On the plus, great food, decent prices and awesome cocktails named after local music. DO go here, but avoid Leann if you can!!!!!!!!!!

Oh First Avenue, you do disappoint me. Concert venues should not venture out of their comfort zone and The Depot Tavern is case in point. For one thing, the atmosphere at The Depot Tavern sucks. What is this place? It's a generic sports-bar in the back, but some kind of cinder block garage up front, with lame metal patio tables. There's surprisingly little space and securing a table took ten minutes (fortunately they have a host that keeps track of table openings). Given that most people there were in groups of two, it's silly to only have tables for four. The sports-bar mentality (multiple flat screen tvs showing a Twins game) suggests lameness. The beer selection was the clearest evidence of this---nothing but the usual, boring, crappy beers. Bud Lime on draft? Are you kidding me? What kind of a pathetic place serves Bud on tap, in a city of innovative and edgy microbrews? I ended up with a Leinie summer draft for $4.50 which was expensive and not particularly inspiring. The food sucks for vegans. While the menu labels its vegetarian options, it does not do so for vegan ones (in fact, it has no options that are vegan by default). Hello, First Avenue! It's 2010, not 1995. Vegan food is not only delicious, but it also serves the needs of vegetarians. Get with the times, man, and learn more about your customer base! We ended up getting their veggie burger ($8.95) which is, thankfully, home-made. That said, it's not vegan. You have to omit the bun and the aioli spread. The bun contains egg, which is ridiculous, but at least the waitress told us. This is another sign of utter mediocrity: The Depot Tavern is clearly just sourcing from some crappy food distributor and not looking to serve quality products. It's not thoughtful about ingredients, that's for sure. I asked if we could get the burger on a piece of bread instead, but was informed by our server, "That would require a favor from the chef. And he's not going to do that, given how busy it is." First, it wasn't that busy. Certainly not so busy that someone in the kitchen couldn't find us, paying customers, a piece of bread that's not made with animal products. Secondly, why should catering to your customers' dietary needs require a "favor"? The Depot Tavern isn't exactly sophisticated dining with a temperamental diva chef. It's a sports-bar attached to a music club. Come on. The burger itself was decent. It was a little dry, and could have benefited from some mushrooms in the mix, and maybe a light soy marinade, but that's asking too much out of the uncreative kitchen in back. I won't be going back to The Depot Tavern. If you like beer, go to Acadia. If you want a killer vegan burger, go to The Local. If you want hip atmosphere, go to Solera. The Depot Tavern offers nothing of value or interest other than the fact that it belongs to First Avenue. That's pretty sad.

Took 45+ min to receive food. Seems kind of long to me for a burger. Food wasn't bad, but also didn't seem worth $10 with a side of chips... Don't think I'll be going back.

So thankful to have another option for downtown lunch options with reasonable pricey, a great selection, and far enough from Nicollet that you feel like you're leaving the office for lunch. First time I went I had the duck tacos... eh... Depot Tavern. I should have known to stick with the Burgers. But the Burgers.. wow! (this coming from someone who eats red meat a few times a year...) and if you end up just ordering sweet potato fries and a gigantic bowl of the chutney katsup, Id give you a round of applause. Today I was there for brunch/lunch with a large group of volunteers (thank you Depot for supporting Free Arts Minnesota, you rock). The French toast was a little above average... I would try something else on the menu next time, but I will for sure be back. Quick service, big TVs and a great addition to the downtown HH scene too.

This is a perfect place to meet your friends for a pre-show drink & bite to eat. In the colder months I prefer the back seating area near the bar because it has a better ambience. I've never been there in the summer, but they have the garage style doors that can be lifted, so I imagine the front seating would make for good people watching on the sidewalk. They have a good appetizer selection (if you get fries, definately get the dipping sauce trio) & the most variety of grown-up grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever seen on a menu! Mine had apples & honey on it, and it was tasty. My friend got one w/ bacon & pepperjack. Late night happy hour specials w/ $3 tall boys (grain belt, PBR, miller, etc), but also have classier tap varieties if you don't mind paying for it. They have 2 booths with tvs in them in the back that they post as reserved for parties of 5 or more. Wait staff was very friendly at my most recent visit. Almost tooo friendly. He used words like "thank you kindly". I think it may have been an act for his own amusement? But I liked it. Underground parking ramp directly across the street is very handy. TVs line the walls for some eye candy if there's a lull in conversation. Usually playing a mix of music videos and sports.

great place to get a quick bite before a show at First Ave. Service fast and friendly. i still can never get used to how friendly people are in general in minnesota and this includes wait staff. burger was great and LOVE the option to get tater tots as a side.

It's sort of divey, sort of not. The staff are the grunge-y tattooed type folks, however, a lot of yuppie looking people seem to stop by there, especially for happy hour. The place is small so there aren't many tables or bar stools, so get there early if you really want to be there. I'm over the "dive bar" phase in my life, so I wouldn't necessarily stop by here ever, but it happens to be on my way home. so I stop by every now and then. The menu was interesting, they had two of my favorite things, watermelon and tater-tots.The watermelon gazpacho soup was delicious. The tater-tots, though plentiful, were disappointing -overcooked, yo! The service there is okay. It's a seat yourself type ordeal. No one ever greets me whenever I stop in. Sometimes you'll have to wave for a waiter or go find one.

Honestly the worst customer service I've ever experienced... I am a super easily satisfied customer (especially considering we just stopped in for a quick beer and the place was not exceptionally busy by any means), and I've worked in service so I have compassion for servers... but this was just ridiculous. So here's the story... My friends and I asked for the happy hour menu... Menu said $3.00 domestic taps so I ordered a Miller Lite and my friend an MGD light... she showed up a few minutes later with tall boy cans. We were a little drunk and evidently didn't study the intricacies of the menu well enough, so we didn't notice until the check came and it was $5 a beer... I get that it's just $2, but I'm a broke grad student and it's the principle of the matter!! I asked very politely why she hadn't brought us the happy hour beer when we had specifically asked for the happy hour menu... she said "I'll get my manager" and stormed off, making me feel like a huge bitch for even asking. The manager came back and was INCREDIBLY rude, basically yelling at me that I should have noticed and complained the second the cans were set down in front of us. And they didn't give us the happy hour prices (which is like customer service 101). Anyway, long story short, I'm somehow still pissed 24 hours later about how poorly they treated my friends and me and I'll never go back!

I really like this place. As a vegetarian it is always nice to have several options to pick from. I had cheese curd for an app and the seasoned ketchup went with them amazingly. For my entree I had the mock duck tacos. I perfer things spicy so had to add hot sauce. They were really good either way though. My only complaint was none of the food was very hot. Especially the tacos. They were really busy so I didn't send anything back, but would have liked to as I think the tacos would have been even better if they were served at a better temp. I've been here a couples times and this was the only time i've had that issue. I still docked a star because they should care about the quality of the food and not have left it sitting in a window getting cold before serving me it.

The grilled cheese was evidently made with Kraft singles and open-faced, as it was separated upon delivery. The Wedge salad was inedible as the lettuce was bitter and dressing was of a color that I've never learned. The banana bread pudding looked freakishly, yet undoubtedly, like a couple of pork ribs. Its texture was bizarrely dry and mushy at the same time. The sweet potatoes were phenomenal and I killed the french fries. The cheese curds were delicious but could've been enhanced with a nice ranch dipping sauce, of which I ordered but was disappointed to discover was missing.

Fantastic food, quick service and reasonable prices. We've always wanted a dependable bar food restaurant for all our concert trips to First Ave and this place is now included in our plans for every show. The tomato soup and grilled cheese has become a staple, as has the western burger. Great brews as well. The service is quick, the menu is large enough and there's even a monitor for watching the show so you can skip the openers if you're only there for the headliner. Now THAT's great service.

I've walked past The Depot no less than 20 times and never even thought about going in. I'm really not sure why - I guess it just looked like a place that would only have Miller Lite and other swill to wash down their over-priced bar food (sorry, whoever designed this space). But looks can be deceiving. My buddy and I went in on the way to Epic looking for a quick bite and a drink. That's exactly what we got. Sure, it was a Tuesday night and I'm sure we would have been able to find the same thing at any number of places in the area, but we went here and I'm glad we did. To my surprise they had a nice tap lineup including two Surly brews (Furious and Hell) along with a couple Summits and a few other craft options. The menu was far more extensive than I would have imagined including a bunch of appetizers, a nice list of burgers and sandwiches and several entrees. Here's what earned them 4 stars: you can make any burger into a chicken sandwich. I love that. A lot of places will begrudgingly do that if you request it, but this place just goes ahead and says it on the menu. I made the western burger into a western chicken sandwich... and it was quite good. The only thing keeping The Depot from a 5-star rating is the ambience - or complete lack thereof. It's like sitting in a warehouse that also happens to serve food and drinks. You could literally hose the entire place down at the end of the night and nothing would be damaged in the process. If you can get past that I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the rest of the experience. Stop by on your way to the next Twins game... it's a stone's throw from Target Field and the booze will ease the pain of yet another Twins loss.

Nice little place to have a beer, maybe catch a game. We went for a Surly release party and even tho the place was packed, the service was quite good. Lots o' TVs - wow. Liked the beer selection, especially the good mix of bottled/canned beer that you don't see at most bars. The wings were really good too. Our only complaint was the poutine - what a pile of disappointment. Curds were cold and never even attempted to be melty, and the "gravy" was some kind of tasteless, prepackaged excuse for what every warm blooded America craves! Come on!

The Depot. My favorite downtown bar. I love the tater tots, beer, and service. I dont like it when its packed with Twins fans, but what can ya do when its named "best place for a drink after a twins game"? Seriously, when I want a drink downtown, this is the first and only place I think of going. The fact that its part of First Ave and 7th St help me too since I tend to spend alot of money on going to concerts and dancing. Since I'm not big on buying full out meals, I cant really give my opinion on the food

So came here and was supposed to meet a guy for the Forever Young Prom thingy last night, ended up having a couple beers. Ordered a Black and Tan and the bartender amazingly separated out the two beers which is what you are supposed to do but it's a rarity in the fast pace of bartending. The bartender was named Mark? I think and he was an excellent server. One of the best places to drink in Downtown.

The Depot Tavern occupies a hollowed out city space between the low- brow 7th Street Entry & the high-brow Seven restaurant - and it fits perfectly! With it's garage door entrance, concrete floors & metal patio furniture seating, the Depot Tavern is accessible to all strata of drinkers. It is an everyman's kind of place that is simple, loud and defined more by it's occupants rather than its decor. The Depot Tavern is a utilitarian establishment that is great to start an evening of pub crawling, grabbing a buzz before a First Avenue show or just spending the evening drinking with friends. Owned and operated by the folks at First Avenue, The Depot Tavern fits a perfect downtown niche. Before, if you wanted to grab a bite and drink before or after an event at First Avenue or the Target Center your options were limited and expensive. The Waitresses are attractive and friendly but during my most recent visit, I found the bar tenders to be a bit stiff, non personable, preoccupied or aloof. it's not that I was expecting to make a buddy movie with my mixologist, but all three were joyless and did not appear to be enjoying what they were doing. It was as if they had been recently demoted from a more snooty establishment. Nevertheless, just like The Depot Tavern itself, service was adequate and utilitarian. Order a drink, get a drink, drink a drink. The Depot Tavern is a great, no frills Minnesotan place to get your drink on. Nuff said & Godspeed!

We stopped by The Depot yesterday on our way to the Twin's Game to grab a quick bite. The service was pretty slow despite the place being less than half full. The server didnt have much of a sense of urgency even though we were clearly going to the game and ready to order. The cajun cheese curds were labeled as "better than the State Fair" so I asked if they were home made. The server said "no" and I asked if the pork belly spring rolls were good and he suggested them. They came out fried, drench in grease, and clearly from a frozen bag. My fiance's Rachel sandwich was fine but the bread was barely toasted and the cheese was not melted. We were disappointed but late for the game so we didnt send anything back.

I've been back to The Depot a few times now...and I am developing some serious affection for this place. Every food item I have ordered has been delicious (ummm, I just have 3 words for you..."sweet potato fries"...yeah). I mean, here's the deal. We were there the other night grabbing a few beers and some food before taking in a show at the adjoining 7th Street Entry (The Delta Mirror). There, at a table near ours, was the band...also enjoying some food and pre-show beers. I think that's pretty fricken' cool...also...later on in the night...I discovered that their 'set list' was scribbled on a napkin from The Depot. Cool, right? Or maybe I am just a music nerd...either way...I thought it was cool.. :) Other misc observations....they really could do without the TV's pumping in various sporting events - it's unnecessary really, the service can be a bit slow and scattered at times, the bathrooms are nice and clean, there is an ATM in the lobby, and you can purchase tickets to upcoming First Ave/7th Street shows... Yep, that about sums it up...

Service can make or break a restaurant... and let's just say, The Depot Tavern is broken. Last night we went for dinner and received some of the worst service I have ever experienced. We opted for a seat at the high-top along the wall, seeing as we were trying to make a concert, hoping it would speed up our dining time. This was not the case. It took at least 15 minutes for our server to come over to greet us. While ordering I asked the waitress if the Monte Cristo was fried, and she said, "Yes, it's a fried sandwich". FYI, regardless of what your misinformed, ignorant server may tell you, the Monte Cristo is not fried. Fifty, yes 50, minutes later, after observing 4 other tables sit, order, eat and pay out, our food came. We only had one place setting (there probably wasn't enough time for the server to bring one over before our food came out) and we were served regular fries, when we had ordered sweet potato fries. Oh yeah, and then there was my sandwich. I used to be a server and if I ever totally dropped the ball with a table, I would try to make it right: comp a beer or two, throw in a dessert, something! Our server gave us a 20% coupon to use on our next visit. OH, and it had to be on a non-event night at First Avenue. Can anyone tell me when they aren't having an event? And really, 20%? That's quite alright. You can keep your coupon. We won't be coming back. P.S. The food wasn't horrible, but I defiantly left with a bad taste in my mouth.

The Depot is a God-send for that part of downtown, and I'm so happy they're open for business. A monumental step up from First Avenue's former food offerings (frozen pizza, anyone?) this place will save many a concert-goer (who me?) from hangovers the next day, due to an ample late-night menu with group-pleasing diversity. My favorite thing on the menu is the Bavarian--grilled cheese with apple and clover honey on this amazing, grain-y bread. Super yummy! The cayenne cheese curds are also delish, although I wish they came with some kind of dipping sauce. One of the most unique aspects though is the awesome collection of photos covering the walls. It's literally like a First Avenue museum, with photos from many a' awesome show the venue has put on. The fact that they stream concerts from both the Main Room & The Entry also reminds eater that they're in a special (i.e. no Ruby Tuesday's) place! Finally, the icing on the cake: You can buy tickets to any First Avenue show there, sans service fees. Win-win!

Welcome, The Depot Tavern. In fact, I nearly missed the headliner at First Ave. because my boyfriend and I were so interested in the wood on your bar-top (it's honestly intriguing, because it looks and feels untreated, but wipes clean... super wood?!). We stopped in before the Chromeo show for a couple of un-marked up beers. We just sat at your super-wood bar, had a short convo with the bartender, learned you can buy concert tickets here, noticed your swell open-air seating, drooled a little over your food menu and left. No big deal, but I left so excited that there is a place like you downtown. I almost never hit downtown's nightlife anymore if it doesn't involve a concert or a play. The Depot, you might change that! The only thing I don't like is your name. I know it's supposed to mean something historically, but we already have "The Depot" and "The Depot Coffee House." It's confuses people/search engines. Couldn't you have called yourself something else? However, name aside, I can't wait to try your food next time and stay a while!

Connected the the 7th Street Entry. Owned by First Ave. (it's in the old Unbank/Manhattan Pizza place). I went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon during a Twins game and it was the perfect place for a tasty lunch in a nice open space. I ordered the Wedge salad and it was awesome. It had these classy leafy greens covered with french fried onions, sun dried tomatoes, and a delicious blue cheese dressing. Small too, which was nice as I ordered it with a Diamond Dog... Now their Diamond Dog is pretty brilliant, since it's not only a hot dog wrapped in both cheese and tasty applewood BACON, it's also deep-fried and served on a pretzel bun. Whoever thinks of this stuff deserves an award or something. The dog was served with kettle chips ($1.50 extra for fries). My only complaint was that my friend had to pay $6 for the shot of Bailey's in her coffee. A note about the environs: Good stuff. Love the garage door "door." LOVE the framed rock photos throughout the establishment. The bathrooms are hella accessible. And I loved the flat screen TV's. I heard some of the live shows from First Ave will be played on them too. It's overall a really nice layout and perfect for grabbing a bit before a show or game. PS. SUPER weird ordering coffee at a place that is essentially part of First Ave...but hey...it's all good. I don't always need to get drunk when I hit up this landmark ;)

I went there right before a show at 1st Ave last week. I knew I had to eat something because the last show I didn't get around to eating beforehand, and I regretted that. The Depot Tavern was a perfectly located place. I liked all the selection ~ fancy hotdogs, burgers, breakfasts. I ended up going with a burger with blue cheese (my usual choice). And I love any place that has tater tots as an option. The service was friendly and quick.

OK, I only give it two stars because the onion rings did nothing for me. Always, go with the tots. Just like chicken fingers at any establishment, it's hard to get them wrong. Pour them out of a bag, heat at 400 degrees for 22 minutes turning once. My friend John M. says the bartenders are stiff and aloof and all that, but he just had the wrong one. They do have a few who are lacking in personality, but, most of them are great. Besides it's the fact that it is owned and operated by First Ave, and the waitresses that make it a great place. They were pretty busy today and I felt forgotten more than once, but that is understandable. I'm able to let it slide as long as they keep remembering me and my drink. The tomato basil soup wasn't terrific, but if you pair it with the grilled cheese (which was better than I was expecting) you'll be better off. Simple but it worked well with the soup. The depot is great because of its location. More than once I've been in the mainroom and said "hey let's see who is in the entry" so we pay the always cheap cross-over fee, listen to them for a while and then grab tots at the depot and then wander back through 7th street grabbed a $3 tall boy and back to the mainroom. Where else can you can walk through three different establishments like that? So go there. Get the tots, a grain belt or perhaps a surly and then go to your show. Good deal!

This place has awesome tots. I'm not claiming to be a tater tot connoisseur or anything but they were perfect: crispy golden exterior and soft and potatoey inside. I ordered a side of aioli with them and I scarfed the whole thing down. I also got a grilled pepper jack cheese sandwich with pepper bacon. This was also tasty but I couldn't eat it for long without getting lured back by the tots' crackly siren call. It's also super close to First Ave, Target Center, etc. so it's a good location to eat a quick, delicious, casual bite before going to an event.

I would give this place another go, but tonight's experience left something to be desired. We were the only table of people in the main dining area when we ordered, but the food took a long time to arrive. My tater tots were room temp, and the burger that I ordered "medium" was well done. I'm still a little butthurt over the bad experience I had at Bryant Lake Bowl a few days ago, so this was the cherry on the sundae of This Week's Restaurant Fails. I think I need to cook at home more.

Within 2 minutes of walking in the door, our group of twelve felt instantly Not welcomed and prejudged before we sat down. Having been a waitress myself, this behavior was inexcusable and the attitude directed towards our group was unnaccptable and if witnessed by any responsible management would have been grounds for dismissal. Our group felt uncomfortable because of the poor service provided. Every normal request (refills..napkins..) was treated as a major inconvienience. Our waitress rolled her eyes and looked extremely annoyed. After our meal, she approached our table and asked if she could put the bill on one check because it would "be easy for her." when we apologetically said please split the check for our team, she huffed off, rolled her eyes AGAIN and shrugged herself back to the waitress station to print separate checks. On top of everything else, when our team was trying to take a group picture, she stopped the process so she could drop the checks on the table. A restaurant is suppose to treat its customers as guests. This means you treat them respect and provide them with quality service. This dining experience was completely forgettable and unforgivable. No wonder the restaurant was empty.

I give The Depot 5 stars simply based on their fries. You must try their fries. They are better than state fair fries. Better than any fry I've had in the cities actually. Be sure to ask for some malt vinegar for on top. I believe they are called Moshe's style BTW. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

Nice place for a drink and a casual meal. Staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Stretch which is tater tots, scrambled eggs, and onions covered in chili and topped with cheese. Very tasty. The food here in general was good but a bit too overpriced in my opinion.

The Depot is a cool spot to grab some food before or after a show, Wolves or Twins game, or other event. It's kind of like adding Triple Rock food options to First Ave but they do the food up on a broader and better scale. I've had the Monte Cristo Grilled Cheese, the BLT and burgers. All have been pretty tasty and good for bar food. You may want to tell them to cook your burger medium or medium-well because some of the burgers I've received have had grease dripping out of them and that's just kinda messy and gross. I like their fries here and they provide solid dipping options. I also had a side salad once, which was good. Especially during the day on weekdays the place is very chill and you can easily get a spot. During events or at night it cranks up a bit but I've always been able to find a spot somewhere without too much wait or trouble. The service can be hit or miss but they do things totally without pretension here, which can be a benefit or detriment, depending on the situation. This is a nice addition to the First Ave experience and it's great that they went ahead with this idea because the proximity of the place is dynamite and you can get tickets for shows or watch a muted feed of the show from inside and just mosey on over to the Mainroom or Entry when you're ready. Bonus: in warm weather they open up the garage doors and the place has an open, breezy feel.

If you work downtown and want a spot to grab a good burger or the best Monte Cristo in town while also being able to purchase upcoming concert tickets over lunch, or maybe you want to hit up a late night happy hour before getting Too Much Love, The Depot Tavern is the place you want. I really like the vibe here. The lunch crowd is usually pretty small all the time, which means that you get more attentive service from the bartender or the waitstaff. Plus, if/when you do purchase tickets for the concerts, you get Depot Dollars that are each worth $1 off your next food or beverage purchase (hence if you purchase 50 tickets for some ungodly reason, you'll have $50 worth of Depot Dollars to spend). This is a great idea, although they expire after a month, so if you forget to use them then, obviously, you lose them. But it's still a great idea for those who don't forget about them... which I did last time. D'oh! Also, like I say, the Monte is THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. I highly recommend getting it, and frankly, it's the only thing I've ever had there, but seeing as how I've been there many times, that just goes to show that it truly is perfect. Hell, I've even made my dad drive into the city from Woodbury to take him to The Depot just to get this sandwich! The deliciousness starts with the buttery, crispy, beautifully decadent marble rye bread that encapsulates ham, turkey, melty baby Swiss cheese and a fried egg. The capper is the blackberry preserves that add the sweet bite to the salty, liquefied cheesiness and egg yolk. It all melds together on your palate to create a taste sensation that I never want to stop. Oh yeah, and the place is attached to First Avenue and the 7th St Entry so you can seamlessly go from the amazing music you are watching to have a quick beer or Monte before heading back to that head-banging, fist-pumping, beat-thumping goodness. Thank you Depot, you are great!

We went here for a little while before venturing next door to the Cut Copy show last night, so all we had were drinks and sweet potato fries. The fries were alright, but kind of dull. I wish there was a sauce or seasoning, something to spruce them up a bit. Also, my Strongbow was 6.75 -yikes! It was crowded and our server was alright, if a bit harried. I glanced at the rest of the menu, and it looked a bit overpriced. The bathroom was also kind of dirty. I expect this in First Avenue, but not in something passing itself off as a restaurant. The only reason I would come back would be if I had to kill time before a show, because it sure is convenient.

We stopped here before a show at First Ave. and were pleasantly surprised by the great food and prices. The Breakfast Burger and Sweet Potato fries were amazing. The BLT and Tater Tots were good. The beer list is quite large and they had really good happy hour prices. Definitely worth it to stop here for a beer before the show and save some money over the prices at First Ave.

Decided to drop in here while waiting for a concert to start at First Ave. (after all, this bar is owned by the same people and right next door to their 7th st entry venue) There happened to be a Twins game going on at the same time so they had $3 tall boys of quite a few beers - not a bad deal for a downtown bar in my opinion. My buddy grabbed a burger that was excellent and came with a ton of excellent fries, unfortunately the price wasn't as great. The burger came to I think 12.99 before tip. the atmosphere is pretty good and the place ended up having way more room in it than I expected.

Recently visited Minneapolis and stopped by the Depot Tavern on a friend's recommendation. The food was bar food but just what i was in the mood for and so were the spirits, but the main issue why I won't give it 5 stars is the rude and nasty bartender. If you meet a female tender named Ray/Rachel then stay away. Reasonably priced and otherwise the place is great! Next door to First Ave which makes it super convenient for shows.

I have had three bad experiences here. For some reason, they believe their punk/grunge/hipster persona and tattoos automatically gives them the authority to be complete jerk offs. I'm done going here. Poor service, bad attitudes. 1. The first time, we were sitting waiting for service for about 20 minutes. We were never greeted, given water or menus as we waited. The server continued to ignore us , despite the fact that we were blatantly looking at her directly. When we finally approached another server, we were told "hold on, I'm busy". We left pissed and hungry and drank beer at First Ave to keep us full during Purity Ring's show. 2. The second time I went there, I ordered the vegan duck tacos. The tacos were missing the lime sauce so I asked the server for a side of the sauce since there wasn't any on the tacos. He replied saying "its under the lettuce" with an attitude and walked away. Clearly, I can tell when I'm eating a dry ass taco that doesn't have a drip of lime. Idiot. 3. The third time, I decided to give this place another try. Since the servers have an attitude problem, I thought I would use a very nice Bitesquad driver (since they are always awesome) to be the middle man so I wouldn't have to deal with the Depot Douches. I decided to get the "build a burger" option which gave me the choice of ordering a veggie burger or a falafel burger. I click "VEGGIE BURGER". Of course, once I get my food, its the damn Falafel burger. Please note, for my own personal reasons, I DO NOT LIKE falafel. I was so hungry I closed my eyes and imagined it was some chickpea black bean kind of patty with delicious mushroom and carrot. It didnt' work... so I called up Depot Douche and the manager was like "Well we DONT have veggie burger, only falafel". I looked at my receipt and it straight up says VEGGIE BURGER. If you damn well know you dont have a veggie burger, why wouldn't you call me and let me know? Why would you continue to cook it and send it out knowing I;m getting something else? She said I have to talk to BItesquad since it wasn't their responsibility. I call BS. Im done.. ABSOLUTELY DONE with this place. You can take your dry vegan tacos and stick them up your own taco. Not even worth it. Got to Mason. They have good service and good food.

When in the downtown Minneapolis area I find it a little overwhelming to decide where to go for a few cocktails and a bite to eat before a show or event. I am glad we stumbled upon the Depot Tavern. It was welcoming and a nice mix of people that were just there enjoying themselves. The liquor prices were decent for downtown and the food menu offered a nice selection of comforting good old standbys like soup, grilled cheese, hot dogs, burgers, fries and tots. They also run some kitchen specials too. They had a lot of IPA and Rye beers on tap if that is your thing. The bartenders are efficient and friendly and do their job well.

Cool little place close by to Target Field. Went on a Sunday evening, it was pretty quiet. Quick service, friendly waitress and hefty portions of alcohol. Got a hotdog wrapped in bacon for myself, and the wife got a chili cheese dog, both with fries. All was cooked well and tasted great for bar food. Drink wise, I just got a sprite with SoCo, but my wife got a drink off the specialty menu called the "spanking machine" and it tasted like a milk shake, real great drink and I recommend it. All in all? Give it a try if your downtown and there isn't much to do.

I've been here for lunch A LOT and never took the time to write a review...#fail. This place is great during the warmer months in MN, they open the industrial size garage door to let the summer air in :-) As a worker in downtown Minneapolis, I love exploring the food scene and keep a short list of favorites to bring friends/family. This place is on that list! The decor inside is somewhat industrial, LCDs right above the long bar, which high tops in the back and the usual setup of tables/chairs in the front. What I really like is the weekly special menu, which hasn't cycled over yet (meaning it's different every time I go). My go to is the Turkey Burger, topped with lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickle spear and onion. It's a solid choice...served on a warm kaiser bun, it's always cooked right and consistent every time...juicy, with a light seasoning...it's a winner in my book. I most recently had the Cayenne Burger, which included a 1/3 lb (I think...) beef patty, BACON, cheddar, tomato, lettuce and gigantic onion ring...yeah, nothing about it sucked, NOTHING. Need a place for lunch in downtown Mpls with fast service??? Go to The Depot Tavern :-)

I ordered the Breakfast Burger and I honestly haven't had a burger that great in a while. Our service was fast, even on a concert night, and out waitress was phenomenal. The atmosphere was fun and hip. Little loud but I didn't mind it. Everyone on staff was dressed very trendy, made the environment very laid back.

Food: 4 stars. Drinks: 2 stars. Service: 3 stars. I've been here a few times, most recently before a Sunday afternoon Twins game. Given it's right outside First Ave. and on the way to the ballpark, I had very low expectations, which were exceeded. I've had burgers and sandwiches here, both of which are worthwhile (and a much better value than anything at Target Field). And they have excellent fries. Very tasty and generous portions. I ordered a Greyhound from the cocktail menu, figuring for $8 it would at least be strong or come in a pint glass. Neither - it came in a small glass and was watered down. Why even have a cocktail menu in that case? Just strange. The service is also average at best. Each time I've been served pretty quickly and then ignored for stretches of time, especially around when I want the check. Not bad service, but not great either. I think this spot could easily be 4-star worthy if it scrapped or revamped its cocktail menu and tried a little harder in the service aspect. It has location, atmosphere, and food going for it.

Wow has this place gone down hill in the past 2 years. Server staff is rude, food is overcooked and they got rid of the Mac and cheese. Who gets rid of Mac and cheese in Minnesota? Took a friend from out of town who had never eaten here before and she had the same feedback: food is not good and is overcooked. Save yourself some money and go elsewhere for food.

Great little bar restaurant hooked to First Ave/7th Street Entry. This is my second time here. The first time was by myself pre-Twins game on a Sunday I was one of the only ones in the place! They had cheap tall boys, and lots of Vegan Options.. I had a Vegan BLT with Tempeh the first time I was here.. I love the Vegan sauces they have! This time I was here with some buds heading to a show at First Ave, I tried the Falafal Burger! Which was delightful and very filling. Comes with chips but you can trade up for Fries or Cole Slaw, I was happy with chips! The place is cool and open's it's garage door so you feel outside even though you are not! I love all the old photos from past shows at First Ave and the history the building has! This is a great spot to get a quick on the cheap basket type meal before a game or a show!

We stopped here after leaving the Twins game to catch the Blackhawks in overtime. They have an interesting open area to watch games on their TV's. I didn't explore further back but they had a bar with more seating and more TV's. They have your typical specials and Happy Hour but of course nothing was going on when we were there. After looking over their huge menu, I finally decided on the Portabello sliders. OMG! These things were freaking awesome. Usually I could care less about buns but whatever these buns were made of was pure heaven. The portabello are cut into perfect little slider shapes and topped with caramelized onions. There was some kind of aioli and I have no idea how it's made but I'll take a jar. These three sliders were a perfect size. Here's the disappointing part: I was far too involved in the game to ask if the Kettle Chips were home made. I, unfortunately, assumed a cool place that serves portabello sliders would home make their spuds. I'm pretty sure I was wrong, they weren't warm and seemed like they were dumped out of the bag. It's possible I'm wrong and they are home made, but they still aren't worth it. Given another chance, I would sub it for something else!

I really enjoy the Depot! It's an awesome spot before (and after) First Ave. The food is beyond bar food - as in its amazing and fun twists on usual faves. We usually get a bunch of the small bites but I do love their burgers as well. The drinks are great, the service is reliable and the food is quick. It is and will remain my go-to spot before a show (and games too!)

Stopped by before the AWESOME concert of Jovanotti at the First Ave for dinner. Our little Italian crowd basically took over the place. Service was good, if a tad slow. The blue cheese and mushroom burger I ordered was great. The bun was a bit soft, but somehow it ended working great with the meat and condiments. I choose to get the slaw, which was a bit mayo-y, but good. BF got the fries which where of the limp, burnt variety I don't like. But I guess that is taste. All in all, I liked the food I had. There was a great selection of other options and the place has kind of a cool vibe. A great place to stop for a burger.

It's easy to see how going to the Depot before a 7th Ave show could become a routine for folks. I mean, at the very least, it's so darn convenient! Right next door, it makes for a super easy stop. The beer list is very solid, and it offers a good variety of good beer from all over and local brews. Food-wise it's better than most bars. The menu is clearly designed to keep patrons who are pre-gaming or post-gaming very happy. There are lots of indulgent options, and the joint is open until 2 a.m. nightly. I especially was pleased to see breakfast options on the menu since I am such a breakfast junkie. I did order the breakfast, and the best thing on the plate was the toast, which had been cooked on the griddle to achieve that crusty, buttery exterior. My eggs, requested over easy, were not. One of the yolks was completely cooked through and the other two were over medium if I'm being generous. My hubby got the wedge salad and only ate about half of it. he didn't like the dressing, and the stuff in the salad was just OK. Our service was good, helpful and friendly without being overbearing or impatient. In all, a great place to visit and know about. Oh, and side note, you can buy show tickets at the bar. Yay for convenience.

I stumbled into Depot Tavern because the restaurant I was looking for was closed for renovation. I stumbled out because Depot had so many great craft brews that I sampled more than I planned! I give Depot 4 stars overall; 5 stars if you're there mainly for the beer. The Surly beers were definitely the highlight. Abrasion was so wicked good that it's a shame it's a seasonal beer. Surly Furious was excellent. Even if you're not into craft brews, Depot has good deals on standbys such as PBR and Grain Belt. Food wise, very solid for a tavern. My favorite was the braised pork belly spring rolls. Full of flavor - don't ruin them by dipping them into the mustard sauce they're served with. Bavarian grilled cheese, wierdly, was a kind of healthy grilled cheese with 10 grain bread and apple slices. I enjoyed, but if tangy cheese turns you off, better go for the classic. Nice curry salad makes a good side dish.

There were tons of vegan and vegetarian options when I went here, I'm not vegan but it's a good place to go if you have vegan friends. The menu was pretty big, which I liked. Most bar places don't have stuff like that. I had a falafel burger, a food I love but that I usually can't find at regular restaurants and it was amazing.

I ordered dinner through BiteSquad and received it less than 15 minutes ago, so this review is fresh. We didn't receive the side we requested. The ordering system did not inform me that I could get something other than chips, so I didn't know to request otherwise, and their chips are greasy and disgusting. The fries that my boyfriend got were also soggy with grease- less than 15 minutes after the order was completed, according to the order tracker. And don't get me started on the falafel burger. It was absolutely the most awful thing I've eaten in ages. It was so obviously a microwave patty, and they charged $10 for it! I literally couldn't finish it. I regret ordering from here immensely, and if I had received this in the restaurant, I would have refused to pay for this horrid meal.

I came here before a show by myself, and sat by the far wall. It was a decently busy night, but it took twenty minutes for any of the three servers to so much as come up and say "I'll be with you in a bit". After another couple of minutes I got my drink order in and asked for a food menu (I would've ordered both at once at this point), and had to wait another ten minutes for my now quite flat beer to show up - which, to be fair, was still delicious and at a great price. The menu looks pretty good, but I notice how expensive all the burgers are - thinking they must be some seriously gourmet next-level-shizz I have to go for it. Once my food arrived (the inside-out burger), it was good but had literally nothing to distinguish it from any other Minneapolis burger joint and sure as hell didn't have anything to justify the $11-without-sides pricetag. It's comparable to the 5-8 or the rail station, where $9 is considered "up there" and then you get a mountain of fries on the side too. Service wasn't bad per se, but it was far from good either - mostly because of how long I had to wait for everything at first, but also (and maybe I'm backward and old school) not ONE person smiled at me, made any remarks about the wait or recommendations, asked how I was liking everything; zero any-human-interaction beyond basic "get this person their food then shoo them out". The reason I'm giving three stars instead of two is because the bar experience here is pretty awesome - pints and shots are west-seventh-cheap, and the bartenders are about as fast and professional as it gets. I was able to come and go from the 7th street entry (major kudos) to use a coupon I got with my show ticket, and was able to get back in time to not miss one set. Overall, I think this place has an identity crisis - while in truth and fact it's been made into a pit stop for concertgoers to stuff their foodholes and get tipsy before going next door, the menu pricing and the pacing would seem to suggest they want people to get comfy and really enjoy something special from the kitchen. The food isn't special enough and the service isn't fast enough for either of those things to work right.

This place gets a 3 for food, 4 for beer, and 5 for concert tickets - so if you find your average folks, that makes this place a 4. I did find myself waking up at 2 am once after eating here and ______ - you can fill in the blank. However, this may have been a fluke, as my fellow-diner did not wake up at 2 am or anytime there-after. The food is somewhat above average bar-food. The sweet-potato fries are great (but honestly, when aren't they)? I won't review on food right now, as my most recent stop was solely for tickets. The beer selection is top-notch. Lots to pick from, lots of varieties, lots of drafts, crafts and bottles. If you want a beer before a show or concert, or game, go here. CONCERT TICKETS! Music-lovers, if you do not already know this (and it really isn't a well-kept secret), you can buy concert tickets here. They are always released at 12 pm on the sale-day. Go early if it's for a trendy band or one that gets lots of play-time on The Current - like 11:30 early. Just wait in line, or start the line. There is always a limit as to how many you can buy, and the fee is a modest $2 - nothing compared to Ticketmaster. You will get a couple "Depot Dollars" as well, so you can come back within a month and save some money on your tab. Not a bad deal and a way to keep you coming back! It goes without saying that the music played here is fantastic. The staff has always been friendly. It's a good casual spot where anyone can grab a meal or drink - and buy tickets!!

I usually stop here before heading to a show at First Avenue. I'd recommend it more for it's beer selection than it's food, but the food is good too. It's all pretty greasy, so don't expect anything healthy. Go for a burger or a hot dog. A few other pro tips: If you're going to a show at The Entry, you can go back and forth between The Depot and The Entry. I'll sometimes use the bathroom at The Depot instead of the one in The Entry, or if the opener sucks I'll go over to The Depot for another beer and wait for the next band to come on. You can also buy concert tickets here, they don't charge any additional fees and give you a "Depot Bucks" coupons to compensate for the credit-card fees.

Great vibe in a dope location right behind First Ave. Extensive selection of beers with a lot of good local brews, and some really excellent vegan options on the menu. Definitely one of my favorite spots to hit when I'm in the Twin Cities.

We went to The Depot for late night happy hour after a show. The waitress was quick and pleasant. The drink prices were good. We ordered a small "late night stretch", which is tater tots and chili on top of scrambled eggs. It was passable. I would not ever order it again. So, it's 50/50. We are from out of town, so my likelihood of suggesting this place to other visitors is very low.

Good bar food with decent tap beer selection and casual environment . If I had to choose to get intoxicated before a Minnesota sporting event, I'd come for the happy hour, and stay for the cheese soup.

Warm beer. Crabby bartenders. Crappy food. Perfect location. When you are located in this good of a spot and get much of the first ave crowd before and after shows and twins fans before and after games apparently you dont need to try very hard. The beer out of the taps is room temp. Gross.

The best part about this place is its close proximity to First Ave & 7th Street Entry. I went here to grab some dinner before a show, and didn't really feel like driving all over before, so it was great to park and stay on the same block for the evening. All the other surrounding restaurants seem to be a lot more fancy and expensive than what we were looking for when we stopped by The Depot. The food we ordered really wasn't good. We ordered some mock duck tacos and they were completely lacking in flavor and seasoning. We probably would've been better off just ordering one of the less ambitious menu options, of which there were plenty. Plenty of burgers and such that probably would've been a better choice. Great drink menu, lots of options for beers. A nice cocktail menu with specialty cocktails named for touring bands. The seating area is fine and the service was friendly. Not anywhere near as expensive as other places within walking distance, so can't really complain.

Whether it's my infatuation for corned beef or that it's the name of my best friend growing up, I love me a Reuben sandwich. So, when I had a meeting at The Depot Tavern and saw it on the menu, I, of course, ordered one. It was Will Smith in Ali stacked, with layers of greasy corned beef and delicious sauerkraut all smothered in a sinfully awesome Swiss cheese. The rye bread -- which was a bit over toasted, yet fell a bit apart when I went to shovel it in my mouth -- was the only drawback. I liked the side of fries that came with it, and how they burnt my fingers with each touch. Were they just immersed in a boiling vegetable oil? I think so, dawg. I. Think. So. If it weren't early afternoon, I would've ordered a pint or two off of their solid beer menu to wash everything down. Maybe my resistance to mid-day drinking should change. The industrial-style, open, and airy space kicks ass, and it's definitely great for watching the game. But, obvs, if it's right next door to First Ave, I'm sure it's great place to catch a meal and drink prior to a show. Will return soon!

There are three good things about this place. 1. The Diamond dog is tasty 2. They sell tickets for First Ave/Entry 3. When the weather is nice, they can open up the big garage door for a psuedo patio experience. This could also be listed as a worst thing because you're not outside enough to smoke, but you're not inside enough to avoid cigarette smoke from the sidewalk outside. There are better places in downtown but if I'm going to First Ave anyway, I'm likely to stop before/after.

(2)Kathleen R.

(4)Jason K.

(2)Rich S.
Great little bar restaurant in an excellent location. Fun decor, great service and value. Had the inside out burger and would recommend it.
(4)Angela M.

(4)Carol C.
Love the Vegan selections! I've been there several times before shows and the relaxed atmosphere is great. Casual, HDTVs, high tables, low tables, 2 booths, and mellow staff make this eatery a comfortable place to eat.
(4)Kate S.
(4)MALEAH A.
(3)Beck V.

(1)Jake M.
Took 45+ min to receive food. Seems kind of long to me for a burger. Food wasn't bad, but also didn't seem worth $10 with a side of chips... Don't think I'll be going back.
(2)Lauren S.
I love going here for a quick, casual dinner downtown. They put a cool spin on comfort food and I have yet to have something I don't like. Service is great, atmosphere is great!
(5)Whitney F.

(4)Teresa K.
great place to get a quick bite before a show at First Ave. Service fast and friendly. i still can never get used to how friendly people are in general in minnesota and this includes wait staff. burger was great and LOVE the option to get tater tots as a side.
(5)Siobhan W.
(3)Tara G.
Great place! Vegetarian options, good service, and the wait was not as long as originally stated. The cayenne pepper cheese curds are a must!
(4)Robin V.

(4)Jennifer K.
(1)Fred S.
(4)Mike S.
(4)Tom S.
Come on!
(4)Abby L.
(5)Joshua W.
(5)John M.
(4)Danelle M.

(4)Josiah O.
Good deal!
(2)Kim P.
(4)Jessica W.
(2)Britt W.

(5)Mandarin Y.
Nice place for a drink and a casual meal. Staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered the Stretch which is tater tots, scrambled eggs, and onions covered in chili and topped with cheese. Very tasty. The food here in general was good but a bit too overpriced in my opinion.
(3)Nazgul W.
(4)Josh V.

I love the Depot. Surly, a Diamond Dog, and tots. Enough said.
(5)Valerie H.
(3)Terrae W.
(4)Ryan Q.

(4)Jadea R.

(3)David S.

(4)Amanda S.

(5)Paola M.

(4)Grace P.
(5)Margot H.

(3)Emily N.
(4)Micah S.
