Diabetics at TGI Friday
If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.
Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:
Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

About TGI Friday
TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.
Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.

I haven't been to Fridays in a number of years, so I'm not surprised their menu has changed quite a bit since then. Honestly, there aren't as many options of interest for me as there once was. It was nice to see the selection of app-entree-dessert deals like three for $12.99 and 3 for $16.99. I decided on one of the $12.99 options, which was only slightly more than the cost of the entree alone. My trio was the pork pot stickers w/ sechzuan sauce, the chicken bruchetta pasta and the Oreo ice cream sandwich. The pot stickers were probably the highlight of my dinner--such a bummer that I started out my meal with them (sorta set the bar high for the rest of the meal). The bruchetta pasta was good, but the one sample of the BF's cajun chicken & shrimp pasta (sans shrimp) was way better--sad face for not having ordered that :( oh well, dessert was next: the oreo ice cream sandwich was a little smaller than I expected--probably accentuated by the fact that it's served on a 15" plate. The BF set his sights on the big juicy strawberry on the plate, but just after he took his last bite of the dessert, our server came by and whisked away the entire plate, but most importantly the strawberry. I can still picture the sad face he made when he watched it float away. :( On top of that, my water glass was nearly empty by the time our main course was brought out, but our server never came by to refill it. Once she came by while my mouth was full of pasta to check on us, but she was gone so fast I wasn't able to get the word "water" out of my parched, pasta-filled mouth--and she didn't notice my glass was then empty. I didn't get a refill until AFTER our dessert was brought out, and by then it was hardly worth it. Note: Don't ask to substitute anything in their trios--they wouldn't even accommodate a request for basic, cheap fries instead of a more elaborate and expensive appetizer. I get it, special requests suck sometimes...but what a bummer.

It doesn't get much better than this! Anytime I'm looking for a place to eat, I choose TGI Fridays. The mozzarella sticks? To die for. The burgers are also incredibly savory and cooked perfectly. The waiters are fantastic, as well. I went there once last week and sat outside to an amazing sunset. Unfortunately, this was also the smokers' section, so I went inside within 5 minutes. My waiter was understanding and even made a couple of jokes about it :) I'm not really a fan of having a smoking section in restaurants - it seems a bit hypocritical to me, having that odor and food in the same environment, but who am I to complain? I'm not much of a fan of Friday's chicken, however. Like every other restaurant I've been to, the chicken is bland, and usually quite dry. I ordered it once and will probably never order it again. All in all, the experience was good and the food was well prepared. I will definitely keep this as my go-to spot in the future.

Third day in a row eating out. Yikes! Also my 3rd yelp review. Upon walking in the door the friendly hostess staff was helping a elderly women out the door. Bonus!! Veronica immediately cleaned a booth for us so we could sit in a spot we wanted to. Pierre grabbed menus and was extremely friendly. We enjoyed his personality that seemed like he enjoyed his job! Rare! Our server Tiffany.... also was personable and friendly. She suggested some items. The ribs which I usually don't order sounded delicious the way she described them. She also offered suggestions for the type of sauce to order. She was right on the money. The ribs were outstanding and the meat fell off the bone. I'll be honest... I didn't expect this from Friday's. I'm one who orders a burger at a burger joint and ribs at the BBQ place. It's the safe bet. After a move at West End this was a choice that we were happy with.

Upon hearing of my terrible experience, the store manager contacted me and profusely apologized for the terrible experience and that it wasn't the norm and that he was very sorry. He told me he would comp my meal and would send out a gift card with the total to me. It has been almost two months and I have yet to receive the gift card....Maybe the terrible service wasn't so rare after all...

I'm not sure if maybe someone called in sick or something, but our server was also the bartender. She was not familiar with the food, took ~15 minutes to even take our order, and got a little too up in my boyfriend's business for my taste. Goodbye, personal space. We eventually got our food, and it wasn't bad. The flatbread was actually pretty stellar. Might have been better 15 minutes sooner with the refill I had asked for twice. That said, it seems like it might have been an off day, and I would give it another shot. As far as fast-ish food goes, I like TGI. They've always got some neat decor (oh hi there, canoe hanging from the ceiling).

Went to TGI Fridays at 810 on a Monday night, it took 15 minutes for our waitress to stop by our table. Then, after never getting the water the table of 6 ordered, it took over 45 minutes to get our food. Our waitress never stopped by to let us know what was going on and ignored our saying "excuse me" when we wanted to inquire about our food. Then after we were told the manager would stop by it took her over 10 minutes to stop by and all she did was ask "how's your night?" Then waited for us to say "it's okay" then walked away. Go somewhere else unless you want to wait 45 minutes for mediocre cold food.

That's right folks, I'm writing a review for TGI Friday's. Get over it. We found ourselves on the West end of town and hungry, but really couldn't bear the thought of dealing with the nightmare that is the West End so we somewhat begrudgingly ended up at TGI Friday's. It was a fantastic decision. I got a Lunch Pairing deal which allows you to choose a number of mix and match items. I got the Tomato Bruschetta and a Chipotle Yucatan Salad. I'm not kidding you, both were better than anything I've ever had at Crave or Figlio. And it was only $7.99!! I would have paid at least twice as much for food half as good at any other place in the West End. I know what you're thinking, but really, you should give it a try. It's not swank or hip or a place to be seen, but if you want great food, great service and great value, you can't go wrong here.
(4)Melanie T.
This place was walking distance to the hotel we were staying at so it was an essy choice. Unfortunately, the food was just okay and the service was definitely underwhelming. I would recommend you venture out to other nearby places. I gave it a 2-star rating because maybe on another day with different choices and waitstaff, maybe it would be better.
(2)K D.
The Jack Daniels entrees are great. But watch your bill- you will likely be over- charged. Happened to me twice in 3 days. They advertise bar appetizer specials but charge full price when they should be $5 if you dont closely watch your bill. That's BS if you ask me. I will go elsewhere in the future ... Too many other places in West End not out to rip you off

I was pleasantly surprised by the super friendly service we received here last Friday night. My S.O. and I were in the area doing some shopping, and I remembered that I had a gift card here. Perfect excuse to stop for a couple cocktails and apps after blowing my paycheck on shoes, right? We both ordered cocktails (can't remember the name but they had Red Bull, vodka & grapefruit juice, YUM), shared the Jack Daniel's chicken strips, and split a Rachel sandwich and sweet potato fries. I personally love the Jack Daniel's sauce, but my boyfriend was sort of weirded out by the gelatinous consistency. Which meant more chicken for me, yay! The sandwich was delicious (though a little skimpy on the sauerkraut) and the sweet potato fries were super salty, which I love. It was refreshing to have such prompt & friendly service, from the greeters to the server. It's kind of sad that good service actually SURPRISES me these days, but I guess I've just had too many run-ins with bored, indifferent or downright rude service industry professionals. I certainly wouldn't say this is a "must-go" destination, but it's a perfectly viable option if you're in the area and looking for a place to grab some food or drinks.
(4)Rebecca R.
My husband and I were shocked at how great the food quality is here! We are not typically the bar food type but the food is Delish!!! All the staff are super nice and have great people skills. We know at least 9 of them by name different personalities and they're all really consistent! Great staff great location! Cheers! I recommend a passion fruit mojito with a salt rim!!!!!
(5)Mike F.
What can you say, it's TGI Friday's, about the only leftover of the way old school themed bar/restaurant chains. The good news is it's predictable. Not great, not bad, just consistent & predictable. A Damn site better than any fast food burger joint, so why not. Plus they have beer, which McD's can't say, thank goodness...
(3)Paul D.
Went to have a business lunch. Very disappointed when the air conditioning vents over the bar turned on and it started to snow dust all over the bar. This made me very concerned about the cleanliness of the restaurant. I hope they get it all cleaned up before someone gets sick
(2)Cary W.
The new test menu in the twin cities is not up to bar. Two huge draw backs. Changed famous motzerrella sticks recipe. And removed chips and queso from menu. Will not eat at Fridays until they change it!
(1)Michael M.
Was there on April 7, 2012 for lunch with a friend. Ordered the ham and cheese sandwich which comes with a cup of soup and potato chips. The sandwich arrived and the ham in the middle was cold, but the cheese and bread was warm - clearly they didn't heat this enough - or at least didn't put the ham on the grill first to warm it. The cup of soup was also only half filled - mind you this was a cup - not a bowl - so why only half a cup?? I told the server about the cold sandwich and he promptly ordered me a replacement - a whole new entree came out - again only half a cup of soup - but at least the sandwich was warm. Overall - this visit was a fail.

Okay, let me start by saying I'm not a fan of chair restaurants. But, this place does everything right. The food is affordable and delicious. We love the Chicken Bruschetta Pasta and the Turkey Reuben. The service is fast and you can sign up for their Stripes program and get great deals. We usually use some sort of coupon to make it even more affordable. The re-design of the store is great. This is one of our 'tride and true' stops near the West End. It's kid friendly and the 'Cup of Dirt' (oreo, chocolate pudding, gummi worms) is a favorite for my boyfriend's son. There is one really annoying server (a guy) that makes bad jokes. I'm sure he means well, but it is kind of uncomforable and we avoid being sat in his section. haha.
(5)Alissa T.
This particular Fridays has been slipping. The last three times I visited my order was wrong. Last weekend when I dined here I asked if they still had light/low cal options. My waiter said no which I thought was strange because I had just been to another location that did have light options. Settled on a chicken salad. Chicken was too tough to cut through and lettuce had brown spots. Found the light options during my meal in the drink menu. When I told the waiter he said "that's weird. I didn't know we had that." After the meal he brought us our check with three receipts none of which had a space to add tip and sign. Took 20 minutes to track someone down to get us a correct bill. On top of that he had a cold and was continuously sneezing while around our table.
(2)Holly R.
Always great food here, you can't go wrong with the jack Daniels steak or chicken.

Great place. Jenna is a great bartender. They really make people from out of town feel welcomed. Check it out. Great happy hour specials 10 pm till close.

They have very friendly service and some great salads. I also like their Jack Daniels Steak. MMMM.

Wanna know something funny? WAY back in the day, OK not that long ago, but when I was in college, I worked here for a short period of time.. Probably like 6-7 months or so.. There are reasons why I don't ever come here anymore, or any other Friday's for that matter! Friday's food has always been pretty interesting.. It's not bad. They do a pretty decent job at warming up their dishes. A couple things gross me out about this place, yet at the same time, I feel the restaurant does a good job at redeeming itself! The recently redid the place, well about 3 years ago, now.. but still. It now looks all funky and annoying like all the rest of them. I don't really care for the loud atmosphere this place has. From the decor on the walls and ceilings, to the music being turned up to MAX.. eh... The food is OK. I wouldn't ever get the fajitas that "they do so well" here, but then again, I love Mexican food, and will not have TGI Fridays think they can ruin that for me.. To make them sizzle, the cook just slops on a ladle of vegetable oil! How nice! The burgers are raw when they cook them, so you can get them at any temp you want, and they actually have flavor! The turkey burger they have here is good too, and I cannot hate on their broccoli cheese soup... completely bad for you, and completely lacking any form of health factors that broccoli may have, but it is pretty tasty! The service has always been mediocre.. I mean, even myself! I am not a good waitress.. I'll be the first to admit that! The best thing about this place is that they are corporately owned so if you hate your meal and send it back, the managers have no probably of redoing it or taking it off the bill. They've always been about great customer service, and will accommodate any meal for you..
(3)Sandra S.
Personally I hate seafood, but i felt the need to up my zinc stores naturally. I was nervously perusing the menu (for @ least 20 mins) while the server hovered nearby, eventually he suggested the daily specials as a way of easing us both out of our misery. I took his suggestion and ordered the wood grilled tilapia, DELICIOUS. I also polished of some King crab legs, which were a little oversalted but the 2 Mango peach bacardi slushies took care of that.
(4)Dan K.
Stopped in for quick lunch and was greeted in the usual Fridays smiling way. Had the updated grilled chicken skewers along with some vegetables. Great chain with great service. They even gave me a ten dollar coupon for when I return.
(4)Andrew M.
Why 4 stars at this monster corporate chain? The wedge salad (4.99!) is one of the best around. No kidding. Plenty of bacon. Fresh tomatoes. And bleu bleu BLEU cheese dressing. Hurry and get it now. When they figure out what a bargain it is at 4.99, they'll kick up the price. As for the rest of the menu? What do you expect? It's Friday's.

We arrived on a Friday around 5:30 PM, and the place was packed. We had to wait around 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was a bit slow in getting our drink order, for which she did apologize, and then did not stop back for quite a while. She did apologize in passing as she went to other tables. FInally, one of the management team stopped by and asked if needed to order some food, at which point our waitress intervened and took our order. We ordered an appetizer, the Tostado Nachos, and given the service to that point, we were taking bets as to whether it would arrive with the entrees. Luckily it didn't. My dining companion liked these quite a bit, but I thought they were mediocre. My biggest complaint: there didn't appear to be any meat included, just refried beans. Entrees were the combination fajitas and chicken and sausage penne. My companion said the fajitas were flavored well, and the penne was loaded with meat (seemingly outnumbering the noodles) and the shaved parmesan added a nice bit as well. Also during the entrees, the management stopped over again, apologized for taking time during our meal, and apologized for the service, and let us know we could enjoy complimentary desserts. In addition, just before the deserts were brought out, he stopped over again and gave us coupons for a complimentary appetizer or dessert on our next visit. The food here has been consistently good (on a previous visit the pork potstickers were excellent), and while there was a service bobble on this visit, the management staff more than made up for it. I should point out that we had not (yet) complained about the service; the management team just noticed it while making their rounds. This is the kind of response that one does not usually expect at a chain restaurant, but in this economy, one certainly should.
