It's 5 stars for Sunday mornings..... The food, lets say is so good for a hangover breakfast REALLY GOOD!!!!! EVERYTHING TOP OF THE LINE GOOD!!!!! Eggs Benedict 10+ it's just the bathroom:-(..... I am not a fussy person and I am use too NE bathrooms but my god this bathroom is like a social experiment gone bad. The homeless have better bathrooms....lol I am not kidding in the least... The strong drink always fight off the bacteria. Well the severs and bartenders are so sweet and wonderful. i will never stop going I love the place.....!

I'm on a wing kick, so I came here to try the wings. We got a basket of the eponymous Spring Wings. They were a spicy sweet sauce on a nice batch of drummies. With plenty of chunky blue cheese and celery. Had a Newcastle to wash it down. Very nice wings, but not the best in town. That look on my face? Its not a frown.

This is a review that has been the better part of 10 years in the making. Back in the day, the Spring and I were neighbors, so it became my default go-to place for a game of pool or a pint. It should, however, be noted that the Spring was not the alt/hipster dive that is today - it was an actual dive (my friend has the scars and medical bills after an encounter outside to prove it). Flash forward a few years and the Spring has cleaned up its act a bit. The addition of Club Underground, some fairly respectable pub grub and a shift in clientele has made the Spring a pretty cozy neighborhood bar - a place that I could happily be neighbors with once more. That said, I don't think my zip code is going to be changing anytime soon, but I'll still stop back for a cheap pitcher of Premo and a couple of games of pool on occasion.

I was not impressed with Spring Street. The spring wings I had heard such great things about were too saucy and sweet. Not nearly hot enough and the sauce was really thick. For the best wings, I recommend Runyons. They don't have ideal seating for big groups. I went with about 10 people and we really struggled to make it work with table arrangements. Plus, the waitress was really mean. The regulars in our party claimed this was her "thing." I didn't get it, but I figured it worked for her or she would change it up. Then I figured out why it works for her-- automatic gratuity. It may have been just because we had a big party. I would have probably left 15% instead of my usual 20% based on her attitude but oh well. She also tossed us our bill and said she would not split it up. Nice. The best thing about the experience was the blue cheese dressing- really well made! But if that's the best I can say about a restaurant I don't think that's a good sign. As a tip: people really seemed to love the tater tots. Supposed to be really good. I should have gone with those.

The breakfast here is delish and serves as the perfect cure for a hangover. Or, the ability to continue what you started the night before :)

The food sucks, but the bartenders, the crowd and the jukebox are awesome enough to keep me coming back to this shitty dive bar. It's a Northeast institution!

This is my favorite breakfast spot of all time! I love the bloody bar and the ambiance is so fun and chill at the same time. The drinks are strong, the food portions are large and the cost is pretty cheap. I highly recommend checking this place out if you like good breakfast, bloodies and a sort of dive bar and juke box atmosphere.

It really pains me to rate Spring Street Tavern so low but it's gotta be done. **Brunch Review Only** Let's start with the positives... +PULLTABS. I won $100 off of $5. Really the only reason I left happy. +Bloody Mary bar. I cannot comment directly on this because I did not have one but apparently their homemade mix is awesome. +Service. Our waitress made sure I had a full cup of coffee at all times, that was appreciated. Negatives.... -its sketchy. I like a good dive bar but this place weirded me out a little. -Music selection. There's a jukebox and someone played the WHOLE Snoop Dogg album at 10 am. On full blast. AT 10 AM. Now, I like Snoop Dogg, just not the whole freaking album in the morning when I am hungover. -The food. It's terrible. Seriously do not eat here. I am known to scarf down food, rarely leaving anything behind. I couldn't even eat the food here. Just greasy and flavorless. Moral of the story - go here to drink and play pulltabs.

After getting hit with a sudden rush, filling the entire bar at 9pm, they were still gracious hosts when I rolled in at 11p. Always impressed with the team at this place.

Server was great & food was cheap. Sat lunch had a bloody Mary bar with lots of fun options to throw in which I suggest since it's better than their bar option. The grill cheese was fantastic. So fantastic everyone ordered the same thing but with different sides. Definite dive, so be prepared when walking in, but worth it for that grill cheese. Especially on a rainy day!

Spring Street, why are you so much like high school English? You've got this whole Madonna/whore archetype thing going on. Sometimes, you're amazing. Your servers are attentive, your food is fantastic (um, Spring Street hashbrowns? Sign. Me. Up.) and your $5 Bloody bar is the stuff of hipster fantasy. When you are in Madonna mode we're breathless. But sometimes, without warning, shit hits the fan and we get sad. The servers disappear for half hour increments, the Bloody bar is empty (sweet baby Jesus) and those beans! What's with the beans, Spring Street? The menu claims they're straight up black beans but there is Badness in them. It may or may not be salsa. Love the early morning Bloodys (come on, it's a drink you eat with a fork) but salsa before 2pm gives us the boom booms. Full disclosure next time, please, and maybe all these other Yelpers won't hate your bathroom so much.

Best HH in Twin Cities (literally....it was voted that in the City Pages). AMAZING breakfast. The breakfast burrito is literally twice the size of a Chipolte burrito and worth the $6.99 you pay for it. You looking for a way to start your Sunday/Funday, look no further.

Unpleasant noise level. Terrible music. Unsanitary men's room. A most unsavory clientele. But the drinks are stiff and I suppose if your prerequisites for dives are absolutely minimal, you'll probably do just fine at Spring Street.

Oh, Spring Street. You are for special occasions. You know, special occasions where I want to replace half of my bloodstream with grease. Would you like tots? Here, have five million tots. What about wings? Oh, we'll give you about four thousand. It might be far from gourmet and absolutely nothing to write home about, but the prices are nice and the portions are large. There are no worries about being hungry afterward. If you're skipping the food and just going for the bar, well, it's alright. The beer selection is light but the mixed drinks are full of kick, so it's better to go the cocktail route. Finding a seat can always be interesting, as Spring Street has quite the variety of clientele. It makes for good people-watching if nothing else. Downstairs is Club Underground, which is usually the reason why I'm at Spring Street. It's not long that I'm usually quite eager to get downstairs.

Spring Street was my first baby step across the border into NE. This baby step turned into quite a prolonged walkabout when I discovered that Spring St. itself runs about fifteen blocks long. Being told "it's on Spring Street!" is like being told "it's on Nicollet Mall!" The bar is on Spring St. and Monroe St. Monroe St. is basically 7th Street. Learn from my mistake. Spring Street is basically a good old fashioned dive bar, with a mix of old guard Nordeast folks, hipster types, and bikers (for whatever reason). The place is pretty big, with a large patio that is a wonderful place to waste a summer afternoon. The place rarely feels oppressively packed but it also rarely feels completely empty, which I appreciate. Drinking here is cheap to begin with, and some of the specials border on obscene. $5-6 pitchers on Thursdays and Saturdays are a particular favorite of mine, as are the $5.50 Bloody Marys on Sundays where I need to lick my wounds from the night before. The food is standard bar fare, but it's actually very well done. The praise given to their breakfast burrito is well deserved. Some nights you just want some Primo and chicken wings. Spring Street can help you out.

Stopped in this morning with a couple buddies for some bloodies and breakfast. We all ordered the TASTY breakfast burrito! Myself and one buddy ordered it without fungus... As I cut into mine, I found a mushroom :( bummed, I figured I would just have to search them out and push them aside. By the time I was picking the second one out, the waitress must have been standing nearby watching, and I hadn't noticed. She came over and asked if there were mushrooms in it, to which I replied yes. She insisted on taking it back to have the cook make it the way I ordered, so I let her. A few minutes later she returned with my meal de-fungified. :) She also stated she would be taking the meal off my ticket. I was extremely grateful for her great service!! Fantastic! I left her a 50% tip for being a rock star. This place never disappoints! Can't wait to return for great service and great food and drinks!!

How can you NOT give Spring Street 5 stars? It's a Northeast classic. It is the perfect place when you are hungover and need a dark place to hide and recover. The breakfast food is always great and the Bloody Mary bar is fantastic. I have spent more weekend mornings in this place than I would like to admit and have no plans on changing anytime soon.

After nearly dying of hypothermia walking five blocks to get to this place, I was more than happy to sit down and order a huge plate of Spring Street Tavern's famed (as per my co-worker) breakfast burrito and Stella. Couple things: this place is not on a street named Spring, and it is right around the corner from the Vegas Lounge, where memories are made. Club Underground is right underneath; don't know what happens there, but I'm intrigued now. The jukebox is cheap (50 cents a song, although it ate my 50 cents without giving me song credits. bah), there are pool tables and lots of TVs blaring games. We unanimously loved our server, Cali (or is it Kallie?), who was feisty, fast, and friendly. It was funny because even on a busy Friday, our group was still able to own the back half of the bar, which we converted into a club as we put in dance song after dance song on the jukebox queue. Food wise: The imports are OK, about 5.75 for a bottle of Stella. The breakfast burrito had to be split, because it could easily feed a family. It took a while to prepare, but it was easy to see why upon first bite: inside is a happy, hot mixture of hash browns, sausage, cheese, eggs and mushroom. And it wasn't just a bunch of crap thrown together; it legitimately tasted delicious and freshly-made. It was kinda weird having beer with my breakfast burrito, but hey, it's 9 AM somewhere..and it'd still be weird over there. But oh so right.

My husband swears by the BBQ burger. Tater tot substitute? Yes, please!! Veggie burger is a little too beany for my taste but it's a black bean burger, what should I expect? Breakfast is decent too. The first few times we went, there were no complaints about the service besides that maybe our food could've come out faster. Not a deal breaker. But incredibly rude service is. Here's the breakdown of our most recent visit: 1. Waitress wasn't particularly friendly greeting us - OK, maybe she's having a bad day. 2. Waitress returns with our drinks and literally slams my husband's drink down, spilling it on the table, and walks away. Maybe she didn't realize? Sure. 3. I want my burger cooked medium, husband wants his cooked medium rare. They come back switched...hmmm. 4. Waitress never asks how we're doing and gives me dirty looks during our entire visit. Am I being paranoid? No, my normally aloof husband notices the snide looks too and suggests maybe it's because we're an interracial couple. I really want to believe that can't be it but it's what makes the most sense and my mood is ruined for the rest of the night. To our awful waitress: whatever the reasons for the poor service, leave your bad day/biases/attitude at home and stay professional. I regret leaving you a nice tip. I wish I had the balls to call you out on your attitude. Spring Street would have been a regular for us - the food is good and it's a nice, low-key bar in the neighborhood. It's unfortunate that the last visit completely turned us off to ever visiting again. Hopefully no one else has an experience like we had!

Spring Street is like putting on that favorite, worn-in robe on the morning after a night out. No frills. Just friendly and laid back. The perfect way to ease back into the day. I love the breakfast burrito and Bloody Mary bar here. I dig the patio in the summer, but patio means smokers, unfortunately. In the winter, it is a good ol' neighborhood sports bar crowd. Not the rowdy kind though. The kind who wear their gear and watch the game, but are equally interested in plugging coins in the jukebox and getting refills on those Mary's. Really friendly service, if not the fastest kitchen in town. It's cool though. Who needs to hurry when there is a well-stocked Bloody Mary bar?

This is the place where I became a fan of Bloody Marys! It doesn't look like much from the outside (or from the inside for that matter) but looks are deceiving!! We went for the Bloody Marys and completely enjoyed them. Their mix is very good and they have good options for personalizing. We got hungry so my sister and I split the Eggs Benedict. A-MA-ZING. Their hollandaise is really great. Not too lemony or heavy - it's so yummy. I definitely recommend it! I can't wait to come back when the weather is nice! Parking is in a lot but it was full when we got there so we had to park on the street.

The Spring is simply a great neighborhood bar. There's a good variety in the crowd, they serve huge yummy breakfast platters all day, and you get a warm vibe from the place. Beer prices are pretty reasonable for Mpls at any given time but of course try to time it for happy hour where you can get a good selection of inexpensive tallboys, but skip the Special Export, which as its name suggests is special, but not in a good way, and should only be exported and not ever ingested. The atmosphere, good food at a good price, and decent selection of beers is all you need and they have pull tabs which is a nice MN touch. The downside is the infernal internet jukebox which I suppose for some reason must not allow you to take bad music out of the available options. I think I saw this listed as a top ten LGBT bar in Mpls and thought it was strange that a regular neighborhood bar with nothing indicating any sexual orientation made that list. Until today, which made me think there must be some regular cross traffic between Lush and here thanks to the back to back Backstreet Boys songs (Ahh!!! My ears!), Katy Perry, and a dance remix of Lady Gaga's Poker Face, because the regular version just isn't painful enough apparently and needs to be dragged out with a generic dance beat. I tried to save face, but these internet jukeboxes are pricey so with only very limited dollars I made a bit of a dent and played music much more in tune with the ambiance of The Spring (rock, duh). The Spring is great in many respects, but I should be able to get more than one measly song per dollar ($5 for 12 ain't a steal either) and there should be some minor quality control on a jukebox in a bar worthy of it.

To be honest I've really only hung out here when there has been a show in the basement (Club Underground) that interested me. It's just pretty far out of the way for me to just go to hang out otherwise. I've been upstairs to eat (though an equal amount of times I've had the food brought downstairs to me) and the food is above-average for Northeast bar food. The selection and quality is rather good. I haven't had brunch there yet, but judging from the menu it's standard brunch fare. The beer selection is pretty standard. The servers and bartenders I've encountered have always been nice and attentive. Except one, but once he realized I was semi-friends with one of his coworkers, he changed his tune (which doesn't sit well with me). I guess the atmosphere just isn't my cup of tea. I'm fine with dive bars, but something about it just rubs me the wrong way. I can't put my finger on it. Also, I've been in both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, and they always reek of sewage. Plus, two times I've been there, the bathroom has overflown and covered the entire floor with toilet water (and the second time, there was a woman in just socks getting boned by her boyfriend in one of the stalls-- not the establishment's fault but pretty gross-- how can you be turned on with the distinct smell of shit penetrating your olfactory glands?) So despite that aforementioned fact in general it's an alright bar, and it's worth checking out.

I love the dive bar atmosphere. There is always good music playing. Never a dull moment. Everyone of the employees has became a friend. This place instantly became my regular hang out. Always great service. Spring wings are to die for! Emma, Rachel, and Pete are the BEST EVER!

Did you have rough Friday or Saturday night? Feeling fuzzy, sluggish and know damn well you are not going to get a thing done today? Springstreet and the love it serves up is your hangover helper. The staff are funny and very good at what they do. It's a "We're all in this together," type of atmosphere and the comfort food and even more so, the very comfortable liqour pours will lift you out of your hangover slump with ease. Enjoy the atmosphere, the diverse clientele and be sure not to take yourself to seriously. Saturday and Sundays can get pretty busy so if you are in a rush, don't bother. The food includes basic breakfast items, a breakfast burrito the size of Newt Gingrich's head and wings that get the job done. I recommend the Tex Mex omellete, the burrito or even just the classic breakfast. The rueben or rachel are excellent too. Look for the soup of the day, they are usually very good too. Check out the Bloody Mary bar, the jukebox, pool table, pull tabs, trivia games or read the paper. Or just watch the crowd celebrate yet another day to mingle with neighbors and strangers too. Expect some profanity and sarcasm.

While I do appreciate their attempt at veggie-friendliness (not sure about vegan friendly - I didn't actually eat here), Spring Street Tavern is just too divey for me. This is not my type of atmosphere. Yuck.

This review is based solely on the service, as despite being there over an hour, I did not have a bite of food. We arrived at 1pm and we were HUNGRY. (This is why most people go to restaurants.) We sat ourselves, noted three empty tables and decided to leave the two larger ones open for larger parties. I ordered a cocktail and my boyfriend said, "I'll just start with water." (Notice how he said START with water.) When she brought out the water and my cocktail, we placed our orders. About 30 minutes later, she walked past my empty cocktail and asked if I wanted another one. I said yes, and without looking at my boyfriend or asking if he could get him anything, she walked away. He had to flag her down in order to get his cocktail. Around this time, we noticed one of the tables that arrived after us get their food. My boyfriend was getting frustrated, but I said maybe they ordered right when they sat down. We watched them finish their meals. About 25 minutes later, we watched the second, even larger table that sat down WELL after us get their food. As the manager (I assumed he was the manager because I saw another table complaining to him, presumably about the wait) walked past me, I politely flagged him down and said it had been almost an hour since we ordered. He snarkily responded, "Everyone here has been waiting over an hour. Your food will come out soon." No apologies for the wait, no thank you for our patience. I pointed out to him that we watched two larger tables who arrived after us get served and we had not been given any updates on our food. (The only times the server spoke to us were mentioned already in this review.) He repeated, "Your food will be out soon," and walked away, and as he said this, I heard my server make a rude comment about my complaint (right behind me and loudly enough that she had to know I would hear her) and I'd had enough. Never before have I walked out of a restaurant before getting my food. TLDR? Two main points- it is NEVER okay to make your table wait an hour for their food, and if you KNOW the kitchen is taking over an hour, TELL YOUR TABLES WHEN THEY ORDER. They probably won't bother. We certainly wouldn't have.

Spring Street is our favorite neighborhood bar. The food is excellent and affordable. I read through some of the other reviews and was surprised to see that the Spring Wings were not rated favorably--they are giant and delicious.

I was looking for a place after my birthday to have a great breakfast to help cure a mild hang over and maybe have a bloody mary, but I found something more than that. Our server was the nicest person you can find. Other staff around were talking with what must be the regulars having a great time laughing. It felt almost like a small town dive bar and I love it! The food was amazing and cheap! I had the eggs benedict and by far they have the best hollandaise sauce I've ever had. My boyfriend had a denver omelet that was perfect! They even have a build your own bloody bar, they give you the glass with a generous pour and you fill it with the rest of what ever you'd like! I will be back! I will bring friends, and it might possibly become my favorite local hang out!

I hold the Spring Street very dear for many reasons. One is the breakfast. Anyone who has not tried their breakfast burrito is living on a lower plane of consciousness. It's about 5 pounds of delight, packed with hash browns, eggs, mushrooms, sausage (or black beans for you veggie types) and a cornucopia of green and red things. Add that on to their build your own bloody mary bar, and you wont need to eat again for a fort night or two. The non-breakfast food there is pretty munchin' as well. The have $1.00 tacos on Mondays. No surrender!!! In the basement is a rock/comedy venue called Club Underground. It's grungy, intimate, loud and serves cheap drinks. Aka/ it is everything I want in a solid rock venue. I have played here on numerous occasions, and while the sound is not the best, I always leave with stories of crazy, drunken rock n roll shenanigans. Truly, Minneapolis' most underrated venue. I do not care what the bathrooms look like.

While I am a huge fan of their breakfasts -- and have spent hours there with friends -- this review is specific to take-out. In a word? Don't. Two orders of chicken wings, spring and seasoned -- and the seasoned were raw and bloody. Crap. I called there three times and no one has picked up the phone, so I guess I'll throw them in the oven, but still.

The single best neighborhood bar in Minneapolis. The beer is always cold, the food always hot, and the service perfectly wry. The beer menu extends to mostly the major brands and local favorites, but there is a beer of the month special which part owner Pete always makes a unique selection. Usually something well out-region or out of the ordinary. The drink prices are stupid cheap. That's to be expected at a Northeast bar, but the Spring Street makes sure you have an affordable night no matter what tier of booze you may fancy. Food. Here's where the Spring REALLY kicks the competition's ass. The breakfast is all day, every day. ALL DAY EVERY DAY. And we're not talking some skimpy egg and toast plate. We're talking cajun-blackened prime rib soaked in holandaise and served with a side of crisp hashbrowns smothered in cheddar and onion. We're talking a breakfast burrito the size of Katy Perry's ego. During the week, they have a special for steak and eggs 8am to 3pm for 6.99. Rediculous. All the regular menu is phenominal too. The burgers jucy, the fried food crisp and well seasoned in the their own 'Spring Seasoning.' (BTW, the Spring wings and Spring browns are especially wicked.) New soups nightly from the kitchen, and weekly specials like the inside-out Cuban sandwich on Wednesdays. Hawt damn is the food good here. If you find yourself with a Sunday afternoon to spend on a perfectly sunny patio or a night to spend with good drinks, food and one of the best underground stages in the city, make your way to the Spring Street. This was the greatest venture off the beaten path we've ever made. Trust us.

I'm talkin bout Sunday Funday here people! Okay...It's hard to give a place like this a ton of stars...but it is definitely more the A-OK which is what 3 stars means on Yelp. I'm talking about for Breakfast on Sunday. No f-ing around here, come here on sunday and either get the Bloody Mary Bar and craft your own bloody mary or have the bartenders do it for you. YOu'll love it!!!!! Also, there breakfast burrito will send you into a breakfast comma, which will be the best comma you ever have in your life. Did I meantion the burrito...oh yeah. Also, the meatloaf sandwich is simply fantastic. Get it with tots and your seriously on your way to a terrific Sunday Funday!!!! Now, don't come here if you have a problem with loud people, drunk people, or really good bar food.

Confusingly, it is on Monroe, not Spring Street, a couple blocks West of 7th and Central. It was pretty quiet last Friday night, I met up a couple friends for a beer. There was a couple dressed up like the Fonz and Marilyn Monroe. I can appreciate a nice pair of chops. The place was populated with grungy hipsters, as opposed to the Moose across the street, which was much more blue collar. There is a good outdoor patio in front and a huge parking lot, for N.E. Overall, not a bad bar.

brunchbrunchbrunchbrunch This place has the best hashbrowns in the Twin Cities, so get those, and their build-your-own-bloody-mary bar is phenomenal, so get that too. Definitely my favorite place to get brunch when all I have left from the night before is $15, a hangover, and a crave for something to fill me up and knock me back out for a couple hour long nap. I've always avoided this place at night, um because I get the impression there is a rough hard drinking crowd of regulars who might shank me, but that's probably just me being a pussy.

if you live in northeast minneapolis, look no further for your neighborhood bar. this is it. the bartenders rock, they will know and remember your name if you go there more than twice. they have a decent and minimal tap beer selection, drinks that make you forget why you've never been there, a bloody mary bar on saturdays and sundays that will rock your face off and bar food that tastes okay at first but amazing after you've had a few drinks. play the juke box. and make sure you splurge to play guns 'n roses 'patience'. someone plays this song every time we're there (and it's not us), so you may as well jump on the bandwagon and do it too. everyone will attempt to whistle the solo. literally. everyone. have you tried to whistle after having a few drinks? it's not easy. also of note: everyone at the bar will be your best friend, especially if they find out you live in northeast and they do too and why haven't we met before and hey let me buy you a round...

Within waddling distance of my crib, this joint is a top notch NE dive. Decor is similar to all the rest in NE, dirty and dumpy....perfect. They have great beer specials including 5 dollar pitchers of Premium on Saturdays. I could bathe in that beer. It's that good. I tried the food for the first time last weekend and I was very impressed. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito and let me tell you, I almost had an organism. It was loaded with eggs and hash browns and mushrooms and sausage. It gave me a burrito chub. After receiving my burrito I decided I wanted a side of hash browns so my server slipped my order to the front and they were on the table within minutes. 5 gold stars for you! The hash browns by the way were golden and buttery and equally tasty. If it weren't for me trying to slim down my plus-sized figure, I would eat breakfast here everyday of the week.

I used to really love coming to this place...A LOT! But then I took a job as a Camel representative and dropped the bartenders id in a crack to fall under the patio outside...Never been back since...too scared..I know she remembers my face even though that was like a year and half ago! Dj's on Thursdays..always lovely!

Great food, inexpensive drinks, great neighborhood place. Karaoke on Wednesdays, Trivia on Mondays and drink specials throughout the week. All awesome.... Except for the bathrooms. They are terrible. I been to bars and clubs all over the cities, and these are probably the worst. The stink of urine is overwhelming, the trough that is setup for the guys to piss in is kludged together with pieces of wood and metal straps. From what I understand, the women's bathroom isn't any better. Which is all a shame. I would give this place 5 stars, without flinching, if it weren't for the bathrooms. Hopefully they fix it, so I can update my review, but the bathrooms have been like that for years now.

My girlfriend introduced me to this place, as "the BEST biscuits and gravy ever". We finally got a change to try it, considering we live in Andover. It was amazing. The atmosphere was definitely strange - we were surrounded by drunken 50+ year olds on the patio at 10am on a Sunday morning, so you could definitely tell this was the local watering hole for the older crowd in the area. But the food and drinks prices cant be beat, and the biscuits and gravy definitely exceeded my expectations. I would come here again and again - but I would leave the kids at home!

So, when I pulled up to Spring Street Bar & Grill I was a little skeptical, but ended up loving this place. We sat outside on their patio and had great service. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was really good. I only wish I had two of them (One definitely didn't fill me up). I also ordered a bloody mary that had just the right amount of spice. I also couldn't believe the price of brunch. What a good deal. I had a bloody mary, ice tea and a breakfast sandwich for $13. I'm definitely looking forward to going back again.

This place is a great little bar all hidden in the Nordeast neighborhood. It is such a treat to go to a bar in Minneapolis where they actually have good drink specials, they make them strong, and you can get a cheeseburger for under $7. Finally affordable goodness!!!! The staff are all super friendly and seem to have perfect timing; when you think you want more of something and look up while deciding, they are right there asking if you needed anything else! They are mind-readers and I love it! The outside patio is perfect; there is enough space out there and the patio crowd are very fun people.

A must for breakfast. The food is always good and consistent. I've heard the build your own bloody bar is decent, if I ever decided pureed tomatoes in a glass were a great idea. My favorite part of sitting inside is the jukebox and people watching otherwise hit the patio if it's nice. I don't really frequent this place outside of brunch, but they do have great drink specials advertised.

By now I hope you've noticed a common theme in the reviews... The bathrooms are disgusting. You know that scene in trainspotting where the dude loses the suppository? That bathroom is cleaner because you know what is actually covering the toilette seat. Apart from that, pretty standard dive bar. Mostly friendly bartenders, stiff drinks, and loud music. I'm not a bloody Mary drinker myself, but the Sunday bloody bar has nursed many a friend of mine out of a hangover. Club Underground is usually the only reason I'm at the spring though. The music is usually oppressively loud, which can be a good or bad thing. They have a weekly comedy open mic on Sundays that's worth checking out. Overall, minus the strange bacterial breeding ground they've made the men's bathrooms. It's a solid dive bar and a good venue for Northeast

I am pretty sure the beer deals here are amazing. I had an ex that use to do a lot of happy hours at this place (sometimes needing a ride because of the great deal). We also went over there for breakfast a few times. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. It's one of his places so I probably won't be going back any time in the near future.

This bar was disgusting. First of all, the women's bathrooms was a disaster. None of the toilets could flush and they were all used and clogged. Second, the crowd was an older, lets say, experienced in drinking crowd and a couple of these men were having a disagreement that involved talking about guns and Michael Vic.... That is all I have to say about this bar... The drinks were the same price as anywhere, but I felt that was overpriced for the environment.

I wanted to love the Spring Street. I really did. I'd heard good things about their breakfast and also that it's a classic NE dive bar. What's not to love? Well...I showed up for breakfast on Sunday with a group of friends. We sat down for a good 10 minutes (with not even a wink from the waitress) before we decided to switch tables due to the jukebox next to us that was blaring death metal....then switched to shitty rap rock. It was seriously so loud we couldn't hear each other. We then move to a different booth hoping for a fresh start. Again, no sign from the waitress for another 10 minutes. I don't need to elaborate much further, except to tell you it took at least another 15 minutes before our food order got in and another 30 minutes before it came out. This is eggs we're talking about. Our orders were also wrong and drinks forgotten. She made up for it with a few free drinks, but overall it seemed like a huge mess. Did I mention that their bloody bar was out of pickles, olives, sausage, and bloody mix. What's left you ask? Ohh...just a few stray pieces of garlic. Yuck. Ok, so I admit that the breakfast burrito was actually really good once it arrived. Also their american fries are excellent. 2 stars.

Ahh the Springer...my favorite NE neighborhood spot. The Grilled Meatloaf Sandwich is life-changing. No joke, it's that good. If you like breakfast burritos the size of your calf but much, much tastier...this place is for you. In fact, everything on the menu is fantastic. The Springer definitely has that dive bar feel and the clientele is a mix between local regulars and college hipsters...but always a great place to people-watch. The staff is uber-nice, the drinks are stiff, the food is exemplary and the prices are cheap. What's not to love about that?

We live very close to this neighborhood bar, and boy, am I glad. Their wings are my favorite in the Twin Cities by far (both the Buffalo style and the herbed dry rub), and good Lord, their homemade bleu cheese dressing is exquisite and is served in generous quantities. I normally despite bleu cheese, but theirs is the perfect combination of tangy and savory, with just enough chunks to keep the texture interesting. I always have a decent amount left after my wings have been finished off, and I often resort to just eating the leftover dressing with a spoon! (Not ashamed to admit that!) There is always a good amount of people no matter what night of the week it may be, and they have some pretty great daily specials. Bar staff has always been friendly, although the language can get a bit coarse at times, so don't bring your mom.

For a dive bar with great food this is as good as it gets in the Minnesota. Easy to find, large parking lot and a big outdoor seating area. You will see jocks and bikers and everything in between, all having a great time. The walls are filed with special Vikings and Gophers memorabilia. The bar has a few big screens with the Twins game on. The restaurant has a lot of room and the basement has bands. Metal on Friday. More mainstream on Saturday nights. You do not hear the bands when in the restaurant. The bathrooms are what one would expect. Not spotless, not dirty... The staff is amazing. Katrina was friendly, efficient, helpful and most of all, a real person. The other two men who also checked on us and delivered food we equally great at their jobs. You get the feeling it is a passion more than a place to work. The food is simply the best. They have mastered the art of spice blends. The wings in their special spice rub were like no others. We will be back for these. The deep fried shrimp in their spice blend were the best I have eaten since Florida. I want to ask if they were freshly breaded. That is how good they tasted. So tender. So much flavor. The fries have a special rub that is delicious. We also ordered a breakfast entree, which is served all day long. WOW. The hash browns were perfect and a large portion. The sausage links are quality and the eggs were cooked exactly how we like. The cost is low. This is a dive bar with an "A" game in the food and service department. Spring Street Tavern serves Grain Belt Premium on tap!!!

I like dive bars. I especially like dive bars who serve greasy spoon breakfast after a 8 hour shift overnight at the hospital. The food is plentiful for the price tag. Nothing like a good bloody mary with your breakfast burrito. Great service too.

It's a dive bar. Plain and simple It's fun, friendly, and they have purple shots on Vikings game days! I had only been to Club Underground before making way upstairs 6 years later, and Spring Street was everything I had hoped it to be. We went here for the Vikings/Packer's TIE game a couple weeks ago, I went to drink and have fun and that's what I did. I didn't partake in the breakfast/brunch food options but they all looked pretty decent and standard. I did have to order some Buffalo wings before I left and they were EXCELLENT. I'd go back.

Having been to Club Underground many atime, I was surprised to see friends raving about the brunch at Spring Street. Perhaps it's the thought of returning in daylight. I tried the brunch once and maybe because I don't have warm college memories of the place, or like bloody mary's to desire a a mix your own bar, but I left feeling let down. Yes, it's a drive bar. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Should i have said egg-spectations? In any case, the food took way too long for dive food. All I can really recollect is the hashbrowns tasted way too much like oil and grease to be enjoyable. If you like bloodys and desire a sports bar vibe..then sure, it may be your egg but I'll stick to Club Underground below.

Last Christmas I blew out my tire at 3 am leaving my boyfriend's parents place, and he was kind enough to come and put on my spare in the -20 degree weather. In return, I treated him to breakfast at the place of his choice the next morning. Hence, my introduction to Spring Street Tavern. Since that glorious morning stuffing our faces with a breakfast burrito the size of a small child, I have craved Spring Street whenever I fancy an old-fashioned greasy spoon breakfast. This place is definitely a dive, nothing look newer than ten years old. The atmosphere is relaxed, and people of all different ages come together for the glorious food and drinks. No need to dress up - you can look barely presentable and no one will bat an eye. Beer list is slim, but the cocktails are strong so I would stick to that. Greyhounds are particularly good here. Bottom line: come here. As long as your decor/cleanliness standards are low you will have a fantastic time.

5 star to a 2 you say? Service from the waitstaff has always been great so thats clearly not the issue, the issue is the food. It's just simply not very good as of late. Overcooked eggs, undercooked hashbrowns and just cheap tasting product. The spring street browns with poached eggs were once a staple when they were cooked right. Cripsy browns with perfectly poached eggs are a thing of the past. Don't ever think about ordering a salad here, you will thank me later. Sorry SST, you've lost that love and feeling now its gone, gone, gone.

Seems like it could be a fun place but my eggs Benedict's eggs were hard boiled solid. They we're understaffed so it was slow but the staff was nice and fixed the issue. Everyone seemed to be continuing Saturday night's party into Sunday afternoon, so great place if you're looking for that. Even the staff was getting in on the fun. Inside had loud dance music blaring and outside was it's own party. If you're looking for a gourmet brunch with very prompt service, might want to look elsewhere, but overall not too bad.

I don't think this bar could get any better. Want somewhere to go for an amazing breakfast and spicy bloody? Go here. Want somewhere you can sit on an awesome patio in the sun, order food, and be served rather quickly? Go here. Want somewhere where you'd rather be inside watching the game where it's kinda dark, but there are still some small windows? Go here. Want somewhere where you can let loose after dark, where a DJ on a Thursday night will surprise you? Go here. Want somewhere where you can bring a $20 bill and probably still have change? GO HERE. Why aren't you there and checking in yet?

Brunch at Spring Street is in no way pretentious, but it is still utterly delicious. It's great breakfast served in a casual setting with a laid back staff. The Eggs Benedict is very good. Sis raves about cravings for the Spring Street Browns and the bloody mary bar. Great Sunday hangout with an excellent staff.

Brunch at Spring Street is in no way pretentious, but it is still utterly delicious. It's great breakfast served in a casual setting with a laid back staff. The Eggs Benedict is very good.

The food sucks, but the bartenders, the crowd and the jukebox are awesome enough to keep me coming back to this shitty dive bar. It's a Northeast institution!

    (3)
  • Caitlin S.

Yummmmy pancakes and thick bacon. Spicy beans good combo with the hash browns. Don't go before 10am Sunday if you want an alcoholic drink. Saga on tap. Staff very friendly.

I used to really love coming to this place...A LOT! But then I took a job as a Camel representative and dropped the bartenders id in a crack to fall under the patio outside...Never been back since...too scared..I know she remembers my face even though that was like a year and half ago! Dj's on Thursdays..always lovely!

What's not to love about that?

if you live in northeast minneapolis, look no further for your neighborhood bar. this is it. the bartenders rock, they will know and remember your name if you go there more than twice. they have a decent and minimal tap beer selection, drinks that make you forget why you've never been there, a bloody mary bar on saturdays and sundays that will rock your face off and bar food that tastes okay at first but amazing after you've had a few drinks. play the juke box. and make sure you splurge to play guns 'n roses 'patience'. someone plays this song every time we're there (and it's not us), so you may as well jump on the bandwagon and do it too. everyone will attempt to whistle the solo. literally. everyone. have you tried to whistle after having a few drinks? it's not easy. also of note: everyone at the bar will be your best friend, especially if they find out you live in northeast and they do too and why haven't we met before and hey let me buy you a round...

  • Geoffrey R.

Unpleasant noise level. Terrible music. Unsanitary men's room. A most unsavory clientele. But the drinks are stiff and I suppose if your prerequisites for dives are absolutely minimal, you'll probably do just fine at Spring Street.

    (1)
  • Summer L.

    (1)
  • Bob E.

    (3)
  • Jean P.

2 stars.

I used to really love coming to this place...A LOT! But then I took a job as a Camel representative and dropped the bartenders id in a crack to fall under the patio outside...Never been back since...too scared..I know she remembers my face even though that was like a year and half ago! Dj's on Thursdays..always lovely!

2 stars.
