Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I love fast food joints that serve tequila. You can get your breakfast taco and margarita at 10am. That's amazing.

Everything was cold. Tortillas were not even warmed up. Nothing like a cold fish taco...yuck. it was pretty hard to get past that. Flavor was okay, nothing to write home about though. Tried a few other cold tacos. I'll stick to Los Ocampo

Worst tacos I have had, I wanted to like this place, I really did. They look like they are good, but they lack everything you want in a taco. No flavor, tried three kinds, steak, pork, and ground beef and all were not seasoned and bland, kinda like a college cafe throwing taco night with little effort. Salsa are okay, nothing special but not bad. They do have several choices, but for me I wouldn't want to try this place again.

Wow. Cheap. Fast. Delicious. I usually get the nachos with black beans, queso and chorizo. The chorizo is so good. Better than almost any Mexican restaurant I've been to. The fish tacos are fantastic. And I never eat fish. I don't drink but they'll make you margaritas or the Negra Modelo you crave. When you're done instead of smoking your after meal cig... You can walk 15 feet to Smokeless Smoking to get your non-carcinogenic nicotine fix. The Rusty Taco is great for a quick Mexican food fix that's worth every tiny penny.

Oh my, oh my. I was pedaling through around 7pm after a long day at work. Rusty Taco has appeared in too many recent conversations to pass it up. I was solo and the night was unbelievably beautiful, so I grabbed a fish taco (grilled) and a black bean taco and headed to a park. I was glad to have "gluten friendly" options (perhaps the absence of "free" acknowledges cross contamination potential? I didn't ask, but this may be a red flag for those with celiac type concerns). At any rate, these little soft corn shelled tacos nestled in a hand stamped brown bag (reminiscent of field trip day in elementary school) were packed with pure culinary heaven. Tasty, spicy, and each wrapped up with its own wedge of lime. I like lime so much that the tangy little green guy may be why I didn't hesitate on that fifth star. My meal was perfectly seasoned, the ingredients were clearly fresh and real (the bright purple cabbage on my fish taco was crunchy and delicious), and the hot sauce held some real heat (not Minnesota heat). Did I mention that this place is very affordable? Also their staff were friendly and fast. I look forward to many happy returns. This might be the place where I drag colleagues for lunch meetings for a long while.
(5)Lindsay B.
Reasonably priced- tried various tacos - breakfast tacos are on point and served all day! Salsas are actually spicy
(5)Michael Z.
I visited the food truck over lunch downtown, and the line was packed. Good sign, right? After a fairly long wait of about 20 minutes, I got my food--two tacos, one roasted pork and one brisket. I was ready to chow down. 10 minutes later, I was left with no tacos, only a sense of indifference to what I had just eaten. I might try you again, Rusty Taco, and hopefully next time, the tacos pack more flavor.
(3)Gil S.
Good fresh tacos. Pretty conservative, nothing too "crazy" but that's actually a good thing. Service is pretty quick and the place looks clean. I had 4 different tacos and they were all good. I love fish tacos but here they were only "ok" (but still good). the Picadillo taco is very good. There are lots of Gluten free (GF) options and some vegan options too.

This is truly one of the latest gems in a city with an embarrassment of culinary riches. If you're in the mood for a good, authentic SoCal-style taco and a cold beer (or margarita!), this is where you want to go. I really, really appreciate the fact that they use corn tortillas, and the balance of slaw, protein and sauce is always right on the money. My favorites on the menu are fried chicken, shrimp and fried fish tacos. They are best with a moderate squirt of their habanero sauce and washed down with the beer of your choosing.
(5)Sarah S.
The staff are not memorable, the eat-in location isn't always clean and is in the dying areas of college ville off Hennepin but with all this set aside, it is still my FAVORITE taco place. The cilantro with lime, delicious lean pork marinated with spices and decorated with tart pineapple and fish tacos!? Spicy, 'clean', mostly healthy and great portion sizes. Their sauces are spicy and I've never found ANY grizzle in my meat (and I'm super picky). I adore their food truck, I come here at least 3 times a month and overall - I would miss this if I ever moved. I recommend everyone have a Rusty Taco now and then! It's even inspired me to add cilantro and lime to my lettuce when making tacos at home.

One of the perks of my job is that I work in the same office park as Rusty Taco NE. I never am sick of the countless amazing foods here. awesome amazing fantastic
(5)Mike M.
Great food, great service, great value. Staff couldn't be nicer. The ambiance was very nice. Will be back.

I was really excited when I saw this place was coming to NE. After my third time visiting, I have to say, that I'm overall, a little disappointed. The first time I came they were out of nearly everything on their menu, but it was one of their first days opened, so I cut them some slack. The tacos I ordered were not ones I'd usually choose, and they lacked flavor. The second and third times didn't make me feel better about the place. I don't know what it is. The tacos are just a little bland. I had the steak fajita taco and the BBQ pork taco most recently. The steak was really dry. The BBQ pork was okay. I'm not really fan of the slaw. Unlike others, though, I kind of like the atmosphere. Very industrial, but I think they pull it off. Anyways, I think this is my last attempt with this place. Bummed, but there are just so many better options in NE. Sorry, Rusty Taco. :/
(2)Ashley M.
Yum! Really really good tacos. I had the fish ($3), crispy chicken ($2.50) & black bean ($2.50) tacos. The black bean was good, the crispy chicken was great but the fish taco was PHENOMENAL. Highly recommend this place. Love all the sauces, but beware that habanero definitely has a kick! The hubby had roasted pork, crispy chicken & the brisket. He also LOVED all of them but said the brisket was def his fav. With fresh ingredients, quick service and free parking, you can't go wrong. Can't wait for a reason to come back.
(4)Kipp C.
Good cheap comfort food! The tacos are tasty, unique, and have tons of flavor! Go no further than ordering their signature Rusty Taco.
(4)Krystal L.
Cute place and super convenient, but horribly inconsistent, especially with the fish and shrimp tacos. Half the time they are cold and made with old food (i.e. obviously reheated, chewy shrimp or soggy fish). OK for a fast meal, but don't expect amazing food.
(3)Troy P.
My meal here was a solid 3 stars, nothing more and nothing less. I had never actually been to Rusty Taco before so I didn't really have expectations, I just wanted some good food after a day of apartment hunting. I ordered the Fish Taco and Brisket Taco with a side of Guac and Chips. The brisket was not great, kind of dry and must not have been cut correctly cause it was grainy and chewy. The Fish was better, had a good deal of Cilantro which might bother some people but all good with me. The tortillas were also OK, they were kind of dry and cracking apart as eating progressed, maybe could have used two in order to hold it all together. The queso fresco was kind of abundant and powdery on the tacos, if you took a breath as you approached the taco with your mouth you might sneeze. The Guac was the best part of the meal, then again it is kind of hard to mess up. I did like the window seating facing Hennepin and the fact that there was Pacifico on tap made it even better, but as I read this again I think my review is more of a 2 star variety. Oh well...
(3)Matt M.
Rusty Taco is good, not great. The prices are way cheap for what you get, the tacos are fun and different, but everything is a little one-note. I had been to the food truck before and was hoping the tacos were a little better, but they were the same. I wish they had some more fun with sauces and salsas. You'd expect a place that's straight from Texas to have some super Mexican influenced food, but a lot of the tacos lacked flavor. My two favorite tacos were probably the fried chicken and fish. It's also fast, which is nice when you're hungry. Guac and queso were both delicious (but when aren't they?). Chips are really good, too. Get these as a side to your tacos. My biggest problem with this place? They close at 10. This would be such a great place to go post-Northeast bar hopping, so why are they closing so early? Cheap prices and a space that seems suited for the drunchies... this would be my jam (er... guac?) if I was tipsy. I'd go back but if I was in the area I would probably rather go to Brasa or Punch for a cheap lunch. If they made a few changes, though... this place would be prime.
(3)Brian S.
Quite possibly the blandest tacos I've ever eaten. Piled on hot sauce to assemble some hint of flavor. Do yourself a favor and go to Taco Riendo instead for authentic Mexican.
(1)Arazue F.
I went with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised! All the tacos are $2.50 (fish and shrimp tacos are $3) and they all sound pretty tasty, I got the Baja Shrimp Taco and the Fried Chicken Taco. Food came out incredibly fast (which pleased me) and it was delicious! I thought the tacos were small, but they surprisingly filled up my big hungry belly. They only have tacos (no burritos, chimichangas, salads, etc), just tacos, but a great twelve to pick from. This location also seemed to have a fairly good selection of beer on tap, like Fulton. If you're looking for quick, fairly priced, tasty tacos, this is the place to go.
(4)Mike E.
Rusty Taco is a 2 or 3-star affair, at best. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was how insanely bright the lights are. Blindingly-white lights. Pair this with the concrete/steel-everywhere look they are going for, and it becomes difficult to "settle in" here. Perhaps that's their goal: quick service, quick meal, out the door. That would work for me, under one condition: you get a hearty meal at an affordable price. But Rusty does not deliver on that ideal. We hit up RT on a Friday night, seeking out $2 fish tacos. I ordered 3 tacos, thinking that might satisfy my hunger. Wrong. The tacos are small, and there was very little fish on my taco. I would much rather spend $7 on a massive burrito from El Taco Riendo, or heck, even Chipotle. The atmosphere felt flat, even on a Friday night. The employees looked bored, and there was not a single smile to be found...not from the employees, and not from the other patrons in the restaurant. My two friends were more positive about the experience than me, so I might try ordering some of their other taco options, which looked more filling. All in all, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to hit Rusty Taco. If you're passing through Northeast and want a really quick bite, it's a decent option.
(2)Sarah M.
This place is SO delicious! I love casual dining paired with absolutely delicious food. The shrimp tacos are the bees knees, and when the weather is nice, a huge, almost garage door-like window is opened. The service is not consistent with the quality of food, but everyone has their bad days. They have three choices of hot sauce: the verde and the spiciest hot sauce, which is a rich gold color, are to die for! Check 'em out people!
(4)Netra V.
One of worst taco I have had in years ... Me and my husband went for lunch yesterday and wanted to have some hot food in this cold weather .... Ordered 3 different tacos Shrimp, fish and chicken ... None of the tacos tasted good and lacked flavor ... It was like these tacos where served for us right out Of the fridge.... Would not go back :(((
(1)Greg B.
Cool menu. Average tacos. Nice people. That's it in a nutshell. I have to say it was talked up quite a bit. I had high expectations going in so I may be biased. I loved the innovation of the menu. There were some really great ideas in there. The execution of those ideas were average. Still a cool place though. The people working there were sweet. Whoever the manger was that day was very pleasant.
(3)Natalie B.
Shrimp and fish tacos are tasty, but the prices are a little high for what you get. The tacos are quite small, and at $3 for one it adds up quickly. I'd still recommend!
(4)Christina C.
Oh Rusy Taco, how i yearn for thee.....Honestly, I can't get enough. My guy and I get two tacos each (one of mine ALWAYS includes the shrimp taco) and we split an order of chicken nachos. Boy do I love those nachos. For a quasi-fast food establishment, everything is so fresh and NOT over-processed. My favorite time of year to go is in the summer, when you can enjoy a fresh breeze from the open garage door. As an extra tip, join their loyalty program and collect points for free food!

Although the name is reminiscent of a women's venereal disease, I had some high hopes for Rusty Taco due to its location. Since Wilde Roast and Look + See moved out months ago, that corner of 6th and Hennepin was looking so sad. However, the layout and tacos are just ok. Since Rusty Taco is in the old Look + See, the narrow space was fine for an optometry joint but not so much for a taco joint. The entry is right near the order line, effectively dividing the eatery into two. So if you are sitting on one side and need to get the other to get salsa/soda, you have to work your way through people. I do like that they opened up the side of the building for a big window, but it's probably to distract your from the butts of people who are waiting for their order. It's a narrow space. Service was very fast, in my opinion. Took less than five minutes from when I ordered to receive my tacos. But I went after the lunch rush, around 1. Ordered the rajas and the Rusty. The rajas is basically roasted veggies with cojita. Pretty hearty and a great option for vegetarians. The Rusty had a nice heat, but the pineapple was a strange addition and the meat was dry. I had to wade through the line of people waiting to order to grab some salsa. They indicated there are heat levels of mild, medium, and hot but I didn't see that on the bottles themselves. It was like a salsa roulette; am I safe with mild or did I just douse my taco in liquid fire? I'm so conflicted. Great location, but the tacos were just ok and the layout was not very welcoming.

Three tacos and a pop for $10? I'll be back! I had a grilled fish taco ($3) and brisket taco ($2.50) at the just-opened Rusty Taco on Hennepin/Central in Northeast on July 22. The St. Paul taco spot and food truck favorite set up shop in Minneapolis in the former location of Look + See. The brisket was a bit fatty, but the fish taco was so good that I ordered another one. My friend had a couple of the namesake Rusty Tacos -- a spicy pork with pineapple that sounded a bit hot for my tongue -- and he liked them. On a Sunday evening, the place served a steady stream of customers, and I didn't see anyone wait for more than a couple minutes. The staff members seem like they're still learning their way around the place. I'll cut them a bit of slack (unlike Mr. Negative Billy D., the first reviewer, who ripped them on the fourth day of business), and I am confident they'll master the menu soon enough. It can't be that hard, right? Parking availability will make or break this place, and with the former Wilde Roast next door still vacant, it's not a problem yet. The lot has a dozen or so spots. But with little neighborhood foot traffic, this place will rely on customers making it a destination. So far, that hasn't hurt nearby Brasa. Sign on the door says they're open until 10 p.m. Too bad, because a nice taco could make a great late-night snack. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and it had ample seating. Give it a try.
(4)Kipp C.
Tacos are great! Tons of flavor.
(5)Bob J.
Wonderful food, clean and fresh environment, great value! Attentive and friendly staff.
(5)Robert S.
As someone who has eaten lots of authentic tex-mex and tacos...these were probably the most tasteless I've ever experienced. Shredded cabbage seems to be their favorite ingredient. Chicken? Tasteless. Brisket? Dry and tasteless. Sauces? Nearly tasteless. Four of us got 2-3different tacos each, and were disappointed in every single one. Sorry, Minnesota. If you like these, good for you. But this is not good food.
(2)Bridget K.
I would give this five stars if it had real plates and glasses and silverware and if they ever wiped the tables between guests. Those minor complaints aside, though- I love it. Love biking over and eating the black bean tacos and addictive queso with chips. Love the giant garage-door window. Love that they are on Bite Squad and so we can order them all winter when it's too cold to go anywhere. Pretty much, yum. The food truck is also one of my favorites! Very reasonable prices, and the staff are always super friendly. (And give you extra chips if you run low while attacking your guac or queso!)
(4)John W.
Despite the unappetizing name, Rusty Taco does serve some decent tacos at a fair price. $2.50 - $3 per taco is a fair price for the size and quality of food you get here. The beef brisket and fried chicken tacos both came with a healthy portion of meat on them. They were pretty good but lacking the freshness and flavor you can get at other taco locations in Minneapolis (Sonora, El Taco Riendo or Maya). I would much prefer they cook the meats fresh to order rather then putting the tacos together on the assembly line as they do now. Service is fast and friendly. If you are in NE and in a hurry, Rusty Taco is an option. If you have some time, you can find better.
(3)Steve B.
Quick, easy, pretty good tacos. I've had the fish taco, bbq brisket, and fried chicken. All were pretty good, a little on the bland side. The tacos are pretty cheap 2.50 -3. You can also order chips with salsa, queso, or guacamole for $3. The salsa choices are pretty good, with my favorite being the habanero salsa. It's has some nice heat. I also like how the side opens garage style to feel like you have some outdoor seating. Overall I don't think the tacos are really that cheap. 3 tacos, chips and guac for $12 I should feel a little more full. For that reason the point I gave for salsa is lost.
(3)Heather R.
Love this place. Awesome food and great staff. Cheap priced food. Don't forget to try the queso and Margarita on the rocks.
(5)M C.
This is not very good food. A friend and I tried seven different tacos between us and none of them would we order again. The meat was dry, as were the tortillas, and nothing was very flavorful. The fish taco actually smelled and tasted "fishy", as opposed to the smell and taste of well-prepared fish. Perhaps some WD40 on a rusty taco would help? In any case, the bottle of Corona tasted pretty good, but I wouldn't brave the food again just for the beer. For this kind of food, price and experience, Rusty Taco doesn't hold a candle to Baja Sol or Chipotle. While we're here, I would suggest that the owners of Rusty Taco skip on down to Cocina del Barrio to see what a succulent little taco ought to taste like.........see? Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?????
(1)Teagan H.
great price, great flavor, great atmosphere. new fave location for a quick and filling meal at the right price.
(5)Katarina N.
Speedy service and lately I like the black bean taco (#12). I used to be a chicken fajita girl, but I might be converted. Also the queso is AMAZING. Guac isn't that awesome, but who cares just order the queso.
(5)Kimberly C.
I like this place, but it could be better. Prices and options are good. However, with the options I had (Brisket Taco, Beef Taco) they could certainly season the meat a bit more so that the tacos are a lot more flavorful. The chips and guac were also okay...not the best, but not the worst. I was surprised by the $5.50 Corona that my friend bought....with how inexpensive the food was I just wasn't expecting such a pricey beer. Anyway, would I go back yes...but at least I know what to expect.
(3)Kristin H.
Ordering at Rusty is pretty simple. The menu is made up of twelve varieties of tacos, priced at either $2.50 or $3 a piece. For sides, your options are chips with salsa or pico ($2) or chips with guacamole or queso ($3). They also offer tap, bottle, or canned beers ($4-$5) and margaritas ($5). Each of us ordered one or two tacos, a side, and a beer. Atmosphere Bright and fun. Casual counter service makes it an easy hang for a group. Service The girl at the register was quick to suggest her favorites, and the food came out lightning fast. Presentation Cute and easy. All of the tacos were presented attractively, open for you to personalize with a squirt of lime or hot sauce before rolling and eating. Taste The fresh ingredients make for tasty tacos. Value for Dollars At just around $10 for a filling meal and a beer, this is a great value!
(4)Lea S.
I approached the Rusty Taco with low expectations. First the name sounds like a euphemism for a sex act that I would be ashamed of myself for engaging in, and second, when it comes to Mexican food I have an immediate bias towards burritos over tacos. A burrito is bigger, more filling, usually contains beans of the refried variety, and is a much larger salsa vessel than a taco. I will continue this by stating that I was not disappointed in my experience at the Rusty Taco. I ordered two tacos, and nachos that I split. My Tacos, though small, were really delicious, and very reasonably priced. The Shrimp Taco was easily my favorite of the two (the other taco I ordered was the Fried Chicken taco). I paired the tacos and nachos with an assortment of different delicious salsas that were provided. The nachos were pretty basic, but had a nice add on feature at .50 for each additional item. I spruced up my nachos with a very tasty queso dip and black beans! The look of the restaurant was very modern and clean, with a clever hipsterish motif. The service was really friendly, fast, and informative. Nothing better than a person who makes eye contact when speaking to you! My only complaint, which seems to echo through a few other reviews, is that if you want authentic tasting Mexican food this place is definitely not your stop. The Rusty Taco provides a good, reasonably priced meal in a cool environment, but lacks the belly busting experience of a "Taco Riendo". With that being said, if you are looking for a nice place to get quick, cheap, good food I would recommend a stop into The Rusty Taco.
(4)Suzie Q.
Great tacos, really fresh guac... good prices! What more do you want? I liked the (grilled) fish tacos quite a lot, black bean and chicken are also faves of ours. Nice selection of taco-worthy beers too. NE location was playing really loud music when I was there, didn't bother me, but I noticed a couple next to me were having to shout at one another... (they could tone that down a bit). Mmmmm-Mmmmmm! Check this place out, they also have another location in St. Paul, near Trader Joe's.
(4)Shelly E.
Bad bad bad. Being a pescatarian, I tried the shrimp taco and the fish taco. Both were cold and with each bite I couldn't tell the difference between the oily 'fried' soggy coating and the fish. It was all equally a terrible texture and very dry. The guacamole had little flavor and I'm convinced it was all processed ingredients without any real avocados in it. The chips and beer were good! Chips and salsa were brought to me while just hanging out watching the olympics, which was nice. I will not be back to fill up on chips and beer again, however. EL TACO RIENDO FOREVER!
(1)Eric H.
Rusy Taco is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and order like 3-4 tacos. My favorite are the shrimp tacos. I was a little disappointed by the namesake, but that's probably just my preference. The chips and salsa are okay, but nothing crazy.
(4)Thomas R.
Chipotle style layout, tasty tacos. This is higher quality than fast food and the tacos are pretty legit. Not earth shattering, but still pretty tasty. Has kind of a noisy college vibe, hence the lower rating. Nevertheless, an enjoyable, inexpensive meal.
(3)Sam M.
Rusty .... Taco ... ok. My wife and I went here with few expectations. The tacos aren't big, but they are good. They are modestly priced at around $2-3. I especially liked the pineapple on their signature taco. They were serving Fultons on tap. Beer and tacos, whats not to love?
(4)Alice G.
I love this place. The food is great, and there is nice inexpensive variety for people who lean vegetarian/vegan. The staff is friendly, and the price is right. I usually get the black bean taco and one with smoked peppers and slather them both with habanero sauce. So good. It always perks me up. Bonus points because they gave my friend a freebie margarita on her birthday, and on another visit I left my phone there and they actually tracked me down to let me know where it was.
(5)A J B.
Great tacos and a nice variety of hot sauces. Inexpensive, too. The service was friendly and unbelievably fast (about 3 minutes) although in fairness it was probably passed the evening rush). I will be back!
(5)Lindsay K.
We ate chicken, brisket, BBQ and fajita tacos. They tasted great but a little spending at $2.50 each for their size. Very clean and nice employees.
(4)Andy W.
These are the closest tacos you will find to real Mexican street tacos!!!
(4)Deb C.
Perfect frozen Margarita to beat the heat and the tacos are fresh, interesting and obviously flavorful! Fresh cilantro and tasty tender meats. The best.
(5)Molly D.
A lot of the reviewers have said what I have thought and felt. I have been there three times now and it's a good quick food stop, but nothing you're going to rave about to your friends afterwards, especially given the neighborhood options. I appreciate being able to pick a couple of different things off the menu and that they have two vegetarian ones that offer a different style, not just beans. They have a pumpkin seed taco which is pretty good, but could use a little more spice. Newly added is their poblano pepper taco, which seems to go well together and has much more flavor than the others. If in this area, I would definitely choose the Rusty over Chipotle, but not ever over Maya just a mile down Central Ave.
(3)Taylor K.
Inexpensive tacos with fresh ingredients. They're served pretty quickly up in an eclectic yet casual atmosphere and they offer a few sauces you can add-on as you'd like. Tasty guac, too.
(3)Craig K.
I drove in NE from Spring Lake Park over my punch hour.. and will not be going again! The tacos are tasteless, very small and very boring! The wait was extraordinarily long to get a take out order!! Save your money and go to Taco Bell as the quality and taste is much better
(1)Candace V.
Walk in...don't know where to order, don't know what to order. I'm standing there like a deer in headlights. No help to be found. Four young men chatting amongst themselves behind the counter don't even glance my way. Food was edible.
(2)Charles D.
I was surprise as to how good this joint was, I will be back for sure
(5)Sarah H.
The name contradicts the sterile decor, but any place that puts pumpkin seeds in a taco is worth a visit. This is one of those spots, though, that's screaming for some kind of outdoor seating. If Rusty Taco had a patio, I'd be there everyday. So maybe it's a good thing they don't have a patio...
(4)Kristina F.
The atmosphere probably would've been a little more fun in the summer vs. winter but I really loved the food! The prices was perfect. I had the #9 Rusty Taco and #10 Chicken Fried Taco. The flavor was AWESOME. Not sure why other people thought they had no flavor - maybe they just don't like cilantro... But YUM!! Nachos were fab too!
(4)Mike D.
Major taco letdown. Shrimp was soggy, onions were sour, there was just nothing exciting about any bite of food I took here. Drive the extra 5 minutes to El Taco Riendo and eat tacos made by people who truly know how it should be done.

okay. so. the atmosphere of this place is definitely lunchtime-esque...don't take your hot date there and expect it to be romantic. it's super industrial and the music is loud. it feels way more like a fast-food restaurant than i had anticipated it to be. as for the food...i'll have to go back and try some more tacos. i wasn't overly impressed, which disappointed me because i was VERY excited to try rusty taco and had been wanting to go there for some time. i got the beef fajita taco (a little more flavor would have been nice and the beef was way overdone), and the fried chicken taco (more flavor than the other- i'd try this one again). my husband got the brisket taco (he said it needed more flavor), the shrimp taco (he loved it), and the picadillo taco (it had potatoes/ground beef/onions...he liked this one but put lots of sauce on it...whatever that may tell you). it was cheap ($2.50 a taco)...but then, the tacos at el taco riendo up the street are close to that price and are scrumptious! i love mexican food more than any other, and i was disappointed that this place fell short. i'll go back and try a few others because i'm still holding out hope...but my first impression is very "meh."

Bland tacos, stale chips.

I only tried 2 tacos. The brisket and the beef fajita. Both lacked flavor. There was no spice or seasoning, no kick, no combination of flavors. The woman that took my order was very friendly and knowledgable however the food was quite disappointing.

Neat place with potential. was there at noon on a Monday and lots of regulars on lunch break come here. Atmosphere and food quality is good but for the price the portion size was very disappointing. I had 2 grilled fish tacos and a side of chips and Guack it it was nearly $10. Fish tacos were tiny with very little fish in them. Prob wont return.

After a 3rd visit, I have concluded the tortillas are not flavorful and they fall apart. Meats were just ok and while the food is not greasy or cheap, there is just a lack of flavor.

Youch. What a bad experience? I have never seen more disorganization at a restaurant in my life. I felt like I was on an episode of celebrity apprentice and non-restauranteurs were trying to run a restaurant. My "fast food"to go lunch experience took 45 minutes as I stood in front and the line cooks kept asking "what did you order?" and "we think we lost your order." I got the food back and it was decent, but did not come close to my expectations (their menu looked amazing and I was very excited to try the food). Sorry, but I will not repeat this experience.

Cannot compare to the Mexican Restaurants up the road on Central Ave NE. Steer clear of the fish/shrimp tacos.
