Fabulous. I love the wine flights, especially the bitchin' blends if you like reds. There's an open mic night on Thursdays at the cafe next door, you can bring your wine over there. The food is great too, especially the pizza! Delicioso!

Came to this wine bar on a weekday evening, not too busy, were able to sit out on the patio in front of the restaurant. The patio is in front of the actual resturant and does butt up to the street, so it was a little noisy but we did not mind. Loved the wine flight that I got (Oregon wines) as well as the pizza that my friend and I shared- it's your standard thin crust pizza that isn't particularly filling but is great to share. A little more spendy than I anticipated, but ti was a good experience and I'd definitely go back!

The menu is amazing, and it was difficult to decide what to order. We recently moved to the cities and just started coming to the Riverview theater regularly, and this cafe looks very French and the ambiance seemed chill, so we stopped for a late dinner after a movie. We arrived before 1100 and the door stated that it closed at midnight. We were told to sit at a table of our choice. We asked about specials and what was good and honestly had the most socially awkward waitress I can imagine. She did say that she was new, and we have both worked in the restaurant business, so we understand... We don't blame the waitress on anything because the manager really seemed to be the reason for weird experience. Our waitress told us that the kitchen with closing so we need to order all food at once. We wanted dessert because we were celebrating my birthday, and my husband went inside to order the dessert for later. The waitress then came out and said that the year kitchen was not closed for dessert, only for food. All of our food came out at once, appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. The desert even had ice cream on it. The manager said you should eat this first. She actually said this, as we are trying to enjoy our pate and specialty beer and wine flight. So much for the Parisian experience. So much for enjoying our courses of meals, enjoying our wine flight.. We thought that this would be our new place to visit frequently after the movies, but sadly, we will never go back. We ordered approximately $100 worth of food and drinks, and always tip over 20%, and hopefully this review this way the other people from calling. At some point, management needs to determine what is more important, leaving at exactly midnight when the door states it closes or having repeat customers.

Fabulous atmosphere for conversation and glass of wine. Nice jazz group playing and waitress just right. Patio inviting and spacious.

As an anti-connoisseur of fine wine--not to be confused to think I'm not a super-consumer of it--I was very impressed with the sommelier-ish staff and their picks for me. Somehow, they interpreted the sophisticated wine descriptions I spouted off--"berry-ish," "grape-ish," makes my lips pucker like *this,*" and "light can't shine through it" was correctly translated to an Amerone--and came up with some superb recommendations. Couple that with a nice bright neighborhood feel, slick jazz, and decent bites, I was perfectly happy sinking half my paycheck for what must have been almost two bottles-worth of wine I imbibed. Honors for great service.

What a cute little place in my new neighborhood. I absolutely adore it. I am not a wine enthusiast. Whatever tastes to good me I will keep on visiting the place. We came here on a weeknight and I believe it was a Thursday night. The place was not crowded, maybe about 5 other customers were there. We sat next to a fireplace and it was very nice and cozy. The lighting was low and perfect. I was impressed with their wine list from different countries. We tried three different white wine and five reds. We had mussels, I thought it was ok. Their list of food is good. The waiter was very knowledgeable with the wine list. She was very nice and friendly to us. I haven't used their bathroom yet but I know it is located in the back hallway. This place is connected to Riverview Cafe, I am not sure if they are the same owner. We accidently walked in the café while there was a live music going on and we got the stared from the neighborhood folks. Of course, we smiled and walked out slowly to the wine bar. Oops. Overall it was a great place in a nice neighborhood. I still need to check out their movie theater across the street. Yes, they have parking lot and it is free.
(4)Mike S.
Great place to grab a drink and a quick bite to eat before seeing a movie and Riverview Theater. Excellent outside patio seating options. Good wine and beer selection. Decent food choices. Only tried and cheese and charcuterie plate, but both were delicious. The connected Riverview Cafe had live music playing inside as we were seated outside and you couldn't here anything at all. Kind of a shame, but it must have something to do with noise ordinances since they are tucked in close to neighborhood homes. I'll be back for sure.
(4)Ross J.
Our trio has played here a couple times and the staff, food and vibe are really friendly and relaxed on the cafe side. Sure it's the same on the wine side! A great stop for coffee and a sandwich during the day as well.
(5)Wendy B.
The food and wine is good and all, and service people friendly. The beet salad very good ! I feel it's a tiny bit over priced still, considering other places, although it's a notch up in quality.
(4)Jeff H.
I was impressed by the friendly, attentive wait staff as well as the amazing food and great wine selection.
(5)Zenzele I.
This is a place has a superb wine list and with a menu to match. It's intimate and classy and has an upscale feel. The beet salad and figero flat bread pizza matched with their German reisling is a winner. Be sure to add a bit of sea salt and cracked pepper. Great place for a 1-1 meeting with a good friend or new friend. I've been about four times and I always leave happy.

As a wine enthusiast, I was excited to try the Riverview Wine Bar down the street from my new place. I have to say, my expectations were exceeded. First of all, the staff members were lovely and really knew their facts about the wine being served. Secondly, a lot of local neighborhood folk were there and seemed to be regulars at the Riverview Wine Bar, which is definitely a good sign. Finally, not only were the wine options fantastic, but the food was delicious! I had a flatbread pizza and was blown away by how fresh and unique it tasted. Overall, the ambiance is super chill and casual, but can be classy and dressy too; it's really whatever your heart desires. Side note: they serve beer too! So, if you aren't much of a wine drinker you can always have a beer instead. *This is the first five star review I have written and I would have to say it's well deserved However, I may be a bit bias since I am a true wine lover. From a Dietitian's perspective: Stick to one glass of wine, preferably red, when visiting the Riverview Wine Bar. Red wine, as you may have heard, is known for it's heart-healthy benefits... as long as it is consumed in moderation! The research out there hasn't quite pinpointed the exact mechanisms behind it's heart healthy benefits, but it's thought that the antioxidant polyphenols (called resveratrol, procyanidins, and quercetin) help to increase the "good" (HDL) cholesterol, provide anti-inflammatory effects, and decrease blood pressure. So, my advice? Go to the wine bar, sit back, relax, and sip a glass of red wine. Your heart may thank you later.

Came here for dinner, they have a great wine list, very knowledgable staff and great food. I had the mussels which were cooked perfect and in a very unique thai sauce. The flat bread was amazing as well. They also have a nice patio and live music, perfect date spot.
(5)Jennifer S.
Great food and a very nice selection of wines from around the world. Ate the daily special ground sirloin burger last night. At the chef's recommendation, ordered it cooked - medium. It was perfect for my tastes. It was served on a soft onion bun with some sort of cheese and crisply-cooked bacon. The herb-roasted potatoes served alongside were very good and nicely herbed, although they were served at a more luke-warm temperature. I think the Highland Park/Mac-Groveland neighborhoods in St. Paul could well use a place like this, serving the same quality of food and wines in a relaxing, intimate-feeling atmosphere.
(4)Jackie N.
Awesome atmosphere. Awesome wine (flights). Awesome food. The ambiance is exactly what you want from a wine bar and had live music when I was there! The food was delicious-flatbread and brussel sprouts-and the wine selection is quite large with awesome flight options.
(4)Amee K.
If you couldn't tell by the photo posts that I love the place, well then look at the photos posted cause I love this place. Great service, great food, a variety of wines and beers, and a perfect destination for a dinner and a movie (at the riverview theather for $2-$3 movies). Just can't get enough of this place! PLUS they are open on Tuesday now !!!! Score!!!
(5)Terese C.
Delious burger enough to share! Beautiful view. Pizza of the day was so yummy i want more. Service was excellente .todo muy. Bueno
(4)Nicholas L.
Surprisingly good food, but you have to learn to pick your battles wisely. They definitely get traffic synced with the Riverview Theater across the street. If you show up an hour early to get a nice quick dinner then off to the movie... make sure it's not the opening night of say, Capt. Phillips. The restaurant gets slammed dinnertime right before and after a popular show across the street. Crab cakes were tasty, but not the best I've had. Burger special was really good, but not really 14 bucks worth. If I knew more about wine, I'd maybe have more to say - but they... have wine?
(3)Matt H.
BBQ Rib dinner with oven fries and corn on the cob and sausage, roasted red pepper, zucchini, bechamel and fresh herbs pizza were the specials of the day. The meat was true "fall off the bone" and tasted like it was seasoned with a bit of tandoori seasonings? The pizza toppings were great paired together and a glass of Italian wine was a good match, Will definitely return for another meal.
(5)Maggie H.
Great food and wine along with a cozy atmosphere. Very friendly, local place.
(4)Melissa N.
This is one of my favorite spots! We never have to wait long for a table and the food is outstanding. The menu has sow thing for everyone and I have NEVER been disappointed (and I have been here LOTS!!!) There's an array of wines to choose from and the prices aren't outrageous. Atmosphere is cozy and romantic. To assure you won't have to wait too long for a table, make sure not to go right before or right after a movie starts/ends at the Riverview Theater across the way. (Or maybe that's the plan!) this will always be a go to for me!
(5)Meghann F.
Still lovin' this place!! The atmosphere is great - the interior is really well done - just a warm cozy feeling inside! I had the temperanillo flight last night, so great - the cali wine in the bunch was the worst though, but they were still all really tasty! I also had the side of greens salad - needed some veggies - that was great as well! I can't say enough good things about this place! So go! Or wait - don't go cause then it will be crowded and i won't get a table :(

Fun! We were finishing dinner at the Longfellow and decided we wanted another drink. My dining companion has the app on his phone so we found this place. Neither of us had ever heard of it, but we were both game to check it out. What a neat little joint! The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, yet welcoming and classy on the inside. The place was about half full and was filling up before 10:00pm. There is a smallish bar, a lounge area and plenty of tables for either 2 or 4. We'd just eaten and in looking over the menu we wouldn't have been able to come to an agreement on what to eat anyway, so we just got wine. I think it would be a perfect date night. The menu of pizzas, salads and desserts look very intriguing. I started with a flite of 4 Unoaked Whites and my dining companion got some dark beer. I loved by white flite, he wasn't crazy about his beer. We decided to also share a Spanish red flite. We liked 3 of the 4. The service was great, the atmosphere quaint, the price pretty reasonable. I can't wait to go back! I think $12 per flite is a pretty good deal. Sundays and Wednesdays you can select any 4 wines for $12. We are looking to check out a movie across the street and then coming in for a snack and flites!
(4)Andrew P.
I like the place for a quick tasty bite. I had the French Onion soup last night, and my ladyfriend had a burger - both very nice and well presented. The wine was also good, but they should make sure the wait staff is a little better informed about wine - we have had staff who were VERY informative there most of the time, but last night, they brought a whole glass of wine on the chance that I would like it (I did), whereas I usually get a small sample before I choose. Riverview - your audience includes some who are well versed in wine - most of your staff is as well, please take the time to make sure all of them are I still like the place VERY much
(4)Jess F.
Fantastic service, exceptional flights, customizable tastes, and a ridiculously cool, chill vibe with live music on the weekends; this place is genuinely great on a warm summer night. The food is pretty good, but let's face it, no one really comes here for the food. The only reason I'm not 5-staring this gem is because it's crowded and becoming packed with hipsters. A place filled with looks and lookers does not offend me, but having no where to sit and people spilling out onto the street does not an awesome time make. Come here early, so you don't have to eye down a table. Come here definitely to try some great, new, and/or different wine. This is one of the very few places that does a dessert wine flight, yum!
(4)Sydney S.
A friend and I meet @ Riverview all the time. They have a nice variety of wine and some tasty eats--all served up in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. I loooove the fig pizza--amazing! Plus the staff is personable & attentive. While I have only been here with friends, I think it could also be a romantic date place too. I should try that but I always leave the boy at home. Maybe next time...
(4)Sam N.
Generous entree portions (well I am from San Diego, maybe I'm accustomed to getting almost nothing for twice as much money). The selection of wines was fine, and the Wednesday and Sunday (I think, not sure about days) flights, any 4 wines, is unbeatable for trying out a variety of wines and finding your favorite to keep on drinking. Outdoor seating is wonderful, perfect place to go for a date after seeing a film at the Riverview Theater, also highly recommended!
(5)E D.
Exceptional wine selection, some of the best I have seen anywhere in the world. You featured great flights and have a warm, friendly staff. If only all wine bars were so relaxed yet so fun! We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Minnesota!
(5)Jen S.
I was surprised how quiet this place was for a Saturday, especially given the restaurant's great reviews! I was able to walk in and easily seat myself at 7:00 p.m. My friend and I each started with a wine flite which is such a nice feature! I'd love to come for a create your own night! Next we shared two of the small plates - the stuffed jalapenos and the cauliflower augratin - and both were phenomenal! We also decided to share our entrees and ordered the special flatbread of tomatoes and asparagus and the roasted beet salad. The flatbread was excellent and the salad was also delicious, but it was quite small to be considered an entree salad! We were able to chat for hours without feeling pressured to leave, but we didn't feel like we were a burden on the server either since there were still empty tables. I would definitely return and recommend Riverview Wine Bar to anyone who's seeking an intimate and romantic evening, or someplace to catch up with an old friend.

My favorite neighborhood bar. My wife and I love coming here for a couple glasses of wine and some casual dining. Wine: Great selection. They also offer flights so you can have a little selection and find the one you really like. Food: We usually get an appetizer (soup, salad, anti pasto platter) and split a pizza. The pizzas are great. More of a rustic style, if you like that. If not, then don't get the pizza. They also have great burgers, sandwiches, and specials. Embiance: Very casual and cozy. There is a fireplace in the back corner with some couches around it. Great place to stop in for a couple drinks and a nibble.

This restaurant does not fall into any restaurant you have been to before. When have you been to a restaurant that has an intimate wine bar on one side, paired with a cafe and live music on the other side of the wall, you are bound to be impressed. The tables are very close together and not very big, so their plates ordered to share is very appealing. The wine selection is intense. They have an organized menu and very educated waite staff. I am not a wine snob so the suggestions were great. I've been here multiple times, and plan on sharing this place with many other people.
(4)Sarah C.
This was my first visit to the Riverview Wine Bar. The wine selection was great, and the food was delicious. No complaints there. Our server was quite pleasant, but I ordered one soup and got another, and I got a different wine than I asked for as well (which I learned when I saw the check). I'm not sure where the confusion was. I would go back for wine/food but would hope for better service next time.
(2)Jada M.
This is another place I should not review because it is so great! I don't want it to get busier! Their wine selection and prices are fantastic, service is knowledgeable and friendly and their tiny menu is delicious! Their pizza's are the perfect compliment to one of their wines (they also have a great beer selection! Cute atmosphere, can't say enough good things about this place!
(5)Annie N.
This is a great place to stop after your cheap movie date. I have to say that my friend and I tried two different flights (he the Syrahs, me the Argentineans) and I wasn't particularly impressed with any of them, so I wasn't surprised to read by another reviewer that they were probably all really inexpensive wines. Of course, when you're getting the equivalent of two regular-sized glasses of wine for 10 or 11 bucks, I guess that's what one should expect: house-wine quality wine flights. The pizza was great, though. Didn't try anything else from the short menu. Nice ambiance. A great - no, wait, the ONLY - place to go after the Riverview Theater, unless you just want a cuppa.
(4)Kyle B.
My girlfriend and I came here on a muggy, lazy thursday evening to try some wine. We split 2 tasting flights (which are $11 each and get you 4 two ounce glasses of wine) We also split an appetizer sized pizza that was the perfect snack to go with the wine. I liked the fact that they had so many wine flights to choose from. I think it was close to 10, plus on Sundays and Wednesdays you can make your own flight from any wines they sell by the glass. The flights have interesting 'themes' that let novices get interested in tasting. I didn't love all 8 wines but thats OK - I think its expected when trying 8 different wines. My only complaints are 1) I wish the flights were $8 each. It just would seem like a much better deal if they were under $10. 2) They closed at 11 on a Thursday. I might have had another glass of wine had they been open to 12 or so.
(4)Maria S.
I am such a fan of this place. The patio is so perfect and casual. I especially like that it doesn't get buggy. The service is always excellent and knowledgeable. The kind where you can say something completely incoherent like: "I want a round white wine with kind of a tang but not to much of a pop" and somehow you will be delivered the perfect glass. The inside is also particularly comforting on a cold winters day. The live music is free (take that aster) and pleasant. Make your own wine flights on sundays (and one other weekday.. i forget.. wednesday?) for $12, which is fun if you want to try things. BUT when considering wine by the glass here is an insider tip to keep in mind: big pours! Not stingy here. I haven't sampled so much of the food, but the desserts always sell out. Must be tasty? Stop in and you can't help but notice the solid base of "regulars" who truly seem to enjoy the place. To me that is all you need to know to understand the five-star review.
(5)Ralph M.
Rolled into Riverview an hour or so before my movie. Wonderful atmosphere inside! Wine flights, light snacks, and live jazz. Fantastic! A great place is you live in the neighborhood, and a recommended stop before a movie at the Riverview Theater. They also have a pretty impressive beer list. Just another example of the great casual but classy neighborhood spots in Minneapolis.
(5)Sarah J.
There are always about fifty wines-by-the-glass to choose between here, so I usually get a recommendation from the staff. Alternately, getting a flite is a great way to get to know their list. Wednesdays are Flite Nights, where you can design your own flite. Stop by before or after a movie and you can have whatever you want. That's the way I like it. I've always found their grenache/garnacha options to be good. The beer list (all in bottles) is varied and has microbrews from all over the country. On the menu, the best options are from the "specialty" section - cheese plate, spreads, baked brie. Yum. Thursday is open mic night for those so inclined and there's live music Friday through Sunday, which is a nice touch, since the atmosphere is already warm and welcoming here. The wine bar is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so don't take a date then. You'll look silly.
(5)Margaret O.
I'm not even a big wine person but this place is worth it just for the caesar salad. And specialty cream soup of Bree and mushroom featured when I was there a couple of weeks ago. Where else could you get this? Light jazz adds to fabulous ambience - but not too loud that it prevents conversation. And you can always trust the servers for excellent wine recommendations (handy for a novice like me), as well as crazy fast service. But be prepared to wait for a table during peak times.
(5)Emily A.
Great wine list. Cozy, un-pretentious atmosphere. Friendly staff. Next time I'm trying a flight!
(4)Jordan H.
Great little neighborhood spot to sit and relax and enjoy some wine and apps with friends. Prices are pretty good, not great but not bad. Very low key place with a lot of locals. Great place to grab a drink or coffee before heading across the street for a movie. The wine bar and cafe are separated and the cafe has open mic nights and live music on occasion. Can be a bit crowed but overall a good place for wine and conversation.
(4)Grant G.
Being out-of-towners we were looking for a nice little spot away from downtown that showed the essence of Minneapolis aka not a tourist spot; this was the perfect place. The bartender was really cool and made us feel very welcomed. The flights are enormous and were a great value. We also had a dessert, which was wonderful. All of the wines were under $30/bottle, which made us feel like this was a place you could hangout at daily/weekly, rather than a once a month or special occasion place. Made me want to live in Riverview. Great place.
(4)anthony C.
I love this place. My friends and I rarely ever see a movie at the neighboring Riverview Theater without having a flyte, couple glasses or sharing a bottle of wine. They also have good food. Pizza's are a great choice as are the salads. And dessert ...creme brulee yummy! Seriously great date destination...wine, food, and a movie. Just a perfect corner in the city. I wish I lived in walking distance...or that would be too perfect.
(5)Tara R.
Great for a pre-movie nibble, a glass of wine with the girls, or an inconspicuous date. The hours are limited, so do check before making plans to meet someone there. There are limited like options terribly nearby.
(4)Lisa R.
Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. The wine flights are fun. Food was tasty, but wish they had more.
(4)Michelle K.
Never been here before last weekend, even though we live close. Just never had the occasion. It was great and I wish I'd been going before. Really nice, knowledgeable staff. Good wine selection. Relaxed atmosphere. Our cheese plate was tasty and came with plenty of crackers and bread (such a rarity!). We weren't really hungry, but I really wish I could have tried the mango and prosciutto pizza too - looked good. And, to top it off, when I was wishing I had a mint steamed milk at the end of the night, the nice bartender we'd been working with went next door and made a perfectly mintified one - not too sweet! Such a terrific experience!
(5)Alec G.
What makes this a great place to go with friends is that it can appeal to multiple tastes. Not only do they have a solid wine list served at good prices and by knowledgeable individuals, they also have a fine beer selection for friends appreciating the hoppier side of life. Also, the food I've tried there, especially the dessert, was quite awesome.
(4)Ryan J.
Went here after work around 11pm on a Thursday, it completely surprised me as I didn't know anything but residential was in the area. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating and the ambiance was pleasant. Unfortunately they closed at midnight :-(. Wine selection is good and the prices are decent, but not cheap. Might have to try the pizza after watching Spice World at the Riverview Theater across the street next time. Great place to meet a group of friends or take a date. Not for the kids.
