About Papa Murphy
Papa Murphy is one of the top pizza chains in the United States. Papa Murphy was formed after the merger of two popular local pizzerias namely Papa Aldo's and Murphy's respectively. The trend of "take and bake" pizzerias gained popularity in the United States during the early 90s. The growing popularity these two take and bake pizzerias located in Hillsboro, Oregon and Petaluma, California respectively gave the idea of a possible merger to Terry Collins.

Customers can relish Papa Murphy pizzas by simply walking into the nearby Papa Murphy outlet or simply order online or call-in to pick up the order later. We've eaten here several times, and the food is generally ok for breakfast. Unfortunately, we got there after noon, but my GF still ordered breakfast, I ordered the Friday special, Hot Turkey Sandwich. My GF said her food tasted somewhat "different". I noticed my Turkey Sandwich was not hot at all. I know, I should have sent it back, but I was very hungry, and it seemed to taste ok, except for a touch of sourness, which I thought came from the gravy. Long story short, we both became violently ill after eating these foods. Sorry, we wont be back, and the cash or check only policy is very irritating in today's world.

A good old fashioned diner without pretense. The service is well above average as we were never wanting for more coffee, which is important at places like this. I had the Lone Star skillet: a massive pile of hot roast beef, sweet and smoky BBQ sauce, peppers, onions, thinly sliced potatoes, and scrambled eggs with a side of Texas toast. Delicious and gut filling. Good coffee to boot. The prices are a little on the high side as it was nearly $30 for two breakfasts and coffees. The portions are large, though, so I guess that helps. I might come back for a try at a few other menu items, but I'm in no hurry. It's middle of the pack as far as small diner breakfast joints in the NW suburbs go. Apparently cash only, so keep that in mind if you only carry the plastic.

Was in the area and saw this place in yelp and decided to give it a try. They had a decent selection of burgers so given it's a café and the selection I assumed it be a good choice. I was wrong. The burger seemed like one of those pre-made frozen patties to buy from a store. It was a perfect circle and completely flat on both sides. It had almost no flavor. It didn't taste bad but it wasn't good. Aside from the food the place is not well kept. Definitely looks worn and could use a remodel or even just fixing a bunch of the little things. I won't be going back.

Papa's is a small, diner-style place in New Hope that reminded me of the cafes in the tiny rural town where I grew up. It's a seat yourself kind of place with quirky and outdated decor, but something you'd expect at a place like this. Based on previous reviewer's comments, I was hopeful we'd find Papa's a real gem when it came to the food. We went to Papa's for a weekend breakfast and were able to easily find a table, probably because It was fairly early in the morning. The service was quick and friendly, and upon our server's recommendation, I ordered the eggs benedict with sausage instead of canadian bacon. The food arrived promptly, and the hollandaise sauce and hashbrowns had good flavor, but the english muffin was overcooked, which gave it a burnt flavor. Overall, the service was great and the price was right, but the food didn't stand out, and at a place like this, the food needs to be the shining star. You'll certainly get an average breakfast at a good price here, but if you're looking for something to write home about, Papa's is not it.

What I love about Papa's is its honesty. It's not trying to be something it isn't, the "old greasy spoon" look and feel is completely authentic, and you get what you pay for. Papa's is the place I like to go to with my dad. We saddle up to a booth by the window, across from the lunch counter. He attempts to read his paper while I harass him with stupid questions and chatter. We typically order breakfast meals (although their specials are pretty good too) and two cups of endless coffee. Is the coffee *gourmet*? No, but it DOES taste like coffee (coughcoughBONNIE'S CAFEcough). Are the eggs, greens, and bread "farm-to-table"? No, but it doesn't need to be - it's completely unpretentious, good ol' American fare that's tasty and satisfying. For the price, you get a plateful of unhealthy comfort food. Do not go here if you're on a diet of any kind. My dad is a huge fan of their massive cheese omelet smothered in hollandaise. Like I said, totally anti-diet. I don't even remember what I ordered last time...something eggy, but I know it was good. But I've had their soups, sandwiches, pancakes...I'd recommend all of them (although the soups can sometimes be a bit salty for my liking). Papa's is 100% classic American greasy spoon. It's warm, welcoming, satisfying, and real.

Papa's is my go to breakfast spot. I've probably eaten here around 20 times now and have never had a bad experience. I would recommend their blueberry pancakes or their banana walnut French toast! Yummy!!!

Pretty cool place across the street from where I live. Kinda cold in the morning but it was ok for me. I must go back and try them burgers

I was in the mood for a greasy spoon and that's exactly what I got! Well, first I had gone to Birdtown Cafe, and as soon as I sat down, i suddenly felt I NEED TO GET OUT. and when I scouted for other greasy spoons in the area, found papa's. Cute little place, ALL BOOTHS (in the front anyway), and that was a good start. Friendly waitresses (more points!) and a tasty looking menu. But they had PUMPKIN FRENCH TOAST and I couldn't resist that. Now, I asked for crispy hash browns, and for them to soak the french toast extra long (i HATE it when they do a 1 second bread dip and you are left with dry toast). WHen I got my order, I had both crispy hash browns AND nice soaked toast. Happy happy! My meal was exactly the kind of tummy-warming simple breakfast I had craved.

Hadn't been to Papa's for a couple years. Not sure why, because I live in a neighboring suburb. Anyhow, I took my car to an auto repair across the street in the middle of the afternoon one day and I was hungry, so I walked over to Papa's and saddled up to a comfortable booth to wile away the hour. After looking over the menu, I settled on a classic cheeseburger with grilled onions. Have to admit I was surprised when the waitress asked, "How would you like your burger?" I said medium and immediately imagined that it wouldn't make an iota of difference because they'd likely cook it the way they wanted, irrespective of my preference. Well, here's the news. It was served on a fresh grilled bun with heaps of chopped, wonderfully caramelized onions and a slice of yummy melted cheese. And the first bite said? Oh yeah. Deep pink hamburger in the center of a patty that was just right moist and full of flavor. Man, I thought, I'm all in. Time well spent.
(4)Chelsea K.
The food is pretty good, typical greasy diner food, but the service is awful. Waitresses were rude, and had to be asked several times to bring anything! I asked for water 5 times and at the end of the meal still had never gotten it.
(2)Evik J.
I ordered a breakfast burger. It was a burger patty topped with an egg and a side of hashbrowns. On the side, I got a couple of slices of French toast. The burger patty was overcooked (certainly beyond the requested "medium") and tasteless. The hashbrowns were overcooked too. The French toast slices were thin and seemed overcooked. I looked at the orders coming out of the kitchen and they seemed overcooked too. I was disappointed with the food. The prices were typical, maybe a bit on the cheap side if the food was better. The service was acceptable. The place is small and the atmosphere is homey. It's not bad, but most places are better in any, if not most, respects. A few other reviews mentioned that Papa's Cafe was better than Fat Nat's, which is just down the street. They made clear that Papa's was much better than Nat's. They either have an affinity for overcooked and tasteless food, or they have never been to both restaurants. Papa's Cafe pales in comparison to Fat Nat's. Save your money and avoid Papa's Cafe.
(2)Heather H.
I thought the food was good, but I couldn't get over the fact that the waitress, after handeling dirty dishes from other customers tables, handling money, and not washing her hands, was the one who put the dinner roll on my plate. They also did not accept credit card.
(3)Jeff C.
Great little local breakfast place. Bring cash or check because they don't accept credit or debit cards. I had the chorizo with eggs which was excellent. It's at least 3 eggs with grilled onions, green peppers and ground chorizo sausage. Strangely no cheese which would have made it even better. Also you get two pieces of Texas toast. All of that for $8. There is a counter and 7 booths which hold 4 people in each booth. In the back there are larger tables for bigger parties. Everyone should continue to support small independent restaurants like Pappa's!
(4)Matt J.
I was here visiting my brother, from California. This place has really good food. Best Blueberry pancakes I've had in a long time. They got it going on, way better than 3 1/2 stars.
(5)Shirley C.
Went for lunch and after ordering waitress came back and said since hours were changed couldn't get what we wanted. Management needs to change posted hours and make a Saturday menu. Poor business practice. Won't be returning.
(1)Brent J.
Such a great place for breakfast. Never been disappointed with the food of the service. It can be hard to find a table sometimes but it never takes long for someone to clear out. This is our go to breakfast place, forget Fat Nat's.
(5)LInda M.
I have been going here for years. I love this place good breakfast and awesome burgers!!!!
(5)Lydia J.
Love this place! Amazing pancakes. Servers are wonderful at keeping my coffee hot and fresh. They never get our orders wrong and the food is top notch.
(5)Kara K.
I give Papa's four stars instead of five simply because their coffee is not very good. But the food is so good and the service is great. Their hash browns are crispy, the sliced breakfast potatoes are always perfect. I love their Apple French Toast and their sandwiches are great too. Papa's is in my top three favorite breakfast spots.
(4)Mon P.
Great neighborhood joint, very inexpensive and HUGE portion. The place looks very homey with counter seats, huge blue booths, and some tables. Almost every diners know servers and cooks by their names, so this place is for sure a local hangout joint. It's always nice to see a place like this where there is absolutely no pretentious feeling. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I only tried their breakfast today. I ordered the Papa's Benedict. It was HUGE (and for only 6.95!!). There were two perfectly poached eggs on top of a very thick piece of ham steak and two crispy English muffins with a side of thin-sliced American fries. The hollandaise sauce was also of very nice portion though the sauce could use a little bit more acid cos I like my sauce a little tangy, but what do I know? I cant even make poached eggs. lol They have special breakfast of the day for only 4.95 - 5.95. I think they have some kind of special dinner or early bird special dinner too. NOTE: Cash and Check only!

Growing up in Crystal, I drove by Papa's Cafe for years before actually going in to try it. It's a hole in the wall, located next to a small barber shop and liquor store. From the outside, it's nothing special. Walking in the door, it's easy to forget you're in the suburbs. Papa's has a small town diner feel with booths, tables, and countertop seating. The clientele is mostly made up of "regulars" who the waitresses know on a first name basis. It has a very homey feel. Papa's serves both breakfast and lunch, but I've always opted for breakfast. You really can't go wrong--the pancakes are perfectly done, the bacon is crispy, the eggs are fluffy, the French toast is impeccable and they even bring you warm maple syrup. A favorite of mine: Raspberry Pancakes (made wtih raspberries in the batter!) Pricing: CHEAP! You will definitely get your money's worth. Even a large pancake combo (with eggs and bacon included) will only run you about $7. Papa's is only open until about 2-3 on the weekends, so make sure you don't arrive too late. Weekdays they are open for dinner.
(5)Paul S.
They do what they do well. ...waits can be a pain.
(4)Warren R.
Papas is a great place for some good food. I've been there several times for breakfast when I have traveled to the Mpls area. It is an "old time" restaurant in that it has both booth and counter service. The wait staff are always friendly and efficient. I've had everything from pancakes, french toast to the usual bacon/sausage & eggs. All were prepared just right. I highly recommend Papa's cafe to anyone looking for a great breakfast at a reasonable price.
(4)Marsha L.
One of the best breakfast places in the entire Twin Cities. And the price is nice! Very affordable. It isn't very hip or trendy, but the food is delicious! I had pumpkin french toast that was scrumptious! The 'Uptown Eggs' are also a winner: scrambled eggs with asparagus and mushrooms (it would be even better if the mushrooms were fresh and not canned). But this place is great and worth the drive out to the burbs! :D
(5)Glenn L.
Papas is by far everything you want in a breakfast place. The greasy spoon lives loud and proud at papas cafe. The best pancakes in the city. Please stop in and grab a seat.
(5)Jo S.
My quest continues for the best Eggs Benedict in the Twin Cities. While Papa's preparation was as I have come to expect, it was 'just' Benedict. Newcomers beware, they regulars aren't friendly at all.
(3)Timo Y.
Been stopping by here for years, never been disappointed by the food or the service, and the prices are fair. Enjoy, I do.
(5)Raynay r.
Papa's probably has the best brunch, in Crystal. Despite the generally less than ideal location, the blueberry pancakes and apple cinnamon French toast are quite good. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for anything blueberry, but these pancakes are quite good, light fluffy, and full of berries. As for the French toast, they serve it with two (huge) slices of apple cinnamon goodness. The French toast is grilled to a perfect custardy perfection. Oh, and then to top it off, the French toast comes with a side of praline sauce. Oh my god is that stuff ridiculously good, and so bad for me. Overall, papa's does a decent cheap breakfast. The service is fair, but usually quick. It's your basic small town greasy spoon. Papa's is so old school they don't take credit cards. It's cash, or get this, checks, only.
(3)Angela O.
I had the Sampler: Cinnamon Sugar French Toast, Eggs, Bacon and I substituted corn beef and hash for hash browns. So delicious!! My friend loved their meals as well. The service was excellent!!. No credit cards. Only cash or check. I will definitely be going again!! I'll be getting the banana walnut pancakes next time. nom. nom.
