I was not able to venture off the hotel location but Im glad they had this restaurant next to it. The food is great. They have a really good selection of different food. Salads, sandwiches, soups. They have really good pizza. Not bad for a hotel place. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.

I travel a lot for work and while most of the time I try to venture out, there were a couple times during this trip I just didn't have time. So I opted for the Green Mill attached to my hotel and was pleasantly surprised. When traveling to new places I am always on the hunt for local delicacies and Green Mill didn't disappoint. I ate here twice over a period of four days, once ordering pizza to my room and another in the restaurant. The convenience of room service earns this place a star all on it's own. To have a hot pizza delivered to my door with a couple cans of diet coke and all the silverware, plates and napkins I needed was perfect. I was exhausted. The food was hot and yummy (except I ordered the supreme and it was loaded with olives) and the service fast and friendly. On my first night in the Twin Cities, I opted to dine in and was equally happy. I was there at an odd time, around 4 p.m., so service was good. They had no one else to wait on! I started off with a smoked chicken and sweet potato soup and it was very very tasty! I wanted to try some walleye since it is the official state fish of Minnesota so I ordered the KaBeeLo Lodge Walleye. Perfectly seasoned and battered! I am not a fan of fried fish or heavily breaded fish, well my stomach isn't, and this was perfect. I also wanted to try Minnesota Wild Rice so I added it as one of my sides. I learned that some of this rice is cultivated in Minnesota, but some of it is actually growing in the wild and farmers canoe out to lakes and river and actually hack it down! Very cool. Unfortunately, I am NOT a fan of the rice. Someone suggested next time mixing it with white rice and some seasoning, which I might try, but I couldn't eat it. So I ordered some Ellsworth White Cheddar cheese curds from the happy hour menu. They were SO SO good, and greasy and terrible, but SO good. Ellsworth White Cheddar Cheese Curds come from 30,000 cows on 450 family farms in Wisconsin and Minnesota. My only sort of complaint was when I did dine in, the waitress seemed a tid bit flighty because she forgot to discount one of my appetizers that was on the happy hour menu (which the bartender pointed out when he sat me). I also joined a friend for drinks in the bar late one evening and the drunks were a little out of control and the poor bartender was too busy trying to score a date with my friend and too young/not macho to tell the guys to pipe down. They were even throwing glasses and salt shakers through the actual bar at each other. Weird. And it was a Monday!

Their food is pizza basically. They have pasta, sandwiches, salads, and the like. Pizza is the specialty. Given that, I'm not really a fan of pizza so I don't get it. I ordered the Stir Fry Salad. It was mostly terrific. Really tasty, loaded with chicken and peanuts and this super yummy sauce. I dock a star because the lettuce - really the entire salad - was hot. Hot lettuce is gross! Had I known it was a "hot salad" I might have picked something else. I loved the sauce and it was really good for what it was, but hot salads are not what I'm looking for. The other star I docked because the place is so run of the mill. There are many other restaurants that do the same thing. Their only defining feature is their deep dish.
