I have never reviewed any place on Yelp before but I felt compelled to do so for Great India. The food is simply put...amazing. My wife and I frequently try to find a reason to treat ourselves to this place. The prices are reasonable and the portions are healthy, I HIGHLY recommend this place if you are a fan of Indian food... or just food in general!!!

Nice, clean, unassuming place. I went there for lunch. Good buffet, nice veg/non-veg variety even though nothing out of ordinary. Food is a bit on mild side unless you eat Vindaloo, which they had two types on the menu. I was in a hurry and I was seated quickly. I would go back.

We went for the Buffet and it was pretty good! As buffet's go at places like this the food was toned down a little for more mass appeal but overall everything was good. I bumped up to 4 stars just because they had goat at the buffet! That was exciting to see. Though the mango pudding and mango lassi are neon orange, why is that? The service was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely go back.

Fantastic and very authentic food! The server was always kind and cheerful when interacting and the environment was very nice. Pretty narrow beer and wine menu but otherwise a very well priced and satisfying visit. Strongly recommend the beef vibration!

This is great quality food. People walk in and it's common to hear the comments of the smell. Authentic for sure. Use to go here often in 2006 when I worked there and today the price was about a dollar less. Same taste.

After all these years, Im not sure why I havent been to Great India. Well, I was glad I finally went there. First of all, the server was very nice. I was there for lunch and was the first one there, so they didnt put naan on the the buffet tray yet. When the naan came out nice and hot, the server immediately put them on the plate and deliver it to my table! I thought that was very nice of him. The food selection was also great for both carnivores and herbivores. Im not so sure if the selection changes daily or not but the day I came (Tuesday), they had plain basmati rice, lemon rice, chicken tikka, two chicken curries, beef curry, goat curries (the curries actually have specific names but i dont really remember), mixed veggie pakora, chana masala (chickpeas curry), potato, pan fried okra, three other veggie dishes, green chutney, tamarind chutney, yogurt, fresh veggie salad, fruits, and rice pudding. I really like the goat curry. It was not at all gamey, and it was very tender. The okra, chana masala, and one other mixed veggies were also really nice and flavorful. My only complaint was on the chicken curry. I thought it was a tiny bit too bland, and as well as both chutneys. I would have liked them to be a bit more spicy. Overall, great value for the money and the food was good.

I met some co-workers here for lunch last week and we all had the buffet. I can not even tell you what all I tried, but I liked almost all of it! The veggie korma was very good as was the chicken curry dish. I was disappointed not to find samosas on the buffet though. There were tons of options for both carnivores and omnivores alike and everything I tried was great. Another plus is the fresh fruit they've got on the salad/dessert table. If I were going to be in the area longer I would go back here.

The Best!!! I have been living in Los Angeles for several years now, EVERY TIME I come to MPLS I have to get at least one meal here because it is so good and honestly much better than almost all the places I've tried out here. Lunch Buffet is good but I'd much rather order pick up and enjoy the leftovers for the days to come! One of the only places that serves chicken samosa's and the mint coriander chutney is so good I could almost drink it. Very large menu with many varied dishes and the servers are always very friendly.

Lunch buffet is fabulous. Of the three Indian buffets I've tried in the Twin Cities area, this one is the clear winner to me. In fact, this may be one of my all-time favorite places to eat, based on the buffet. Service is also good and friendly.

I wanted to like the resturant. Went for the lunch buffet. The selection of dishes was OK, but the food was bland. Lacking both spices and hotness. But more important the food at the buffet was maybe 100 degrees - this is very dangerous as bacteria grows quite quickly in that enviornment. The food should be held at 140 degrees. I would not eat the buffet again.

I have enjoyed several sit down meals at Great India, the naan is awesome fresh. We have tried a number of the dishes, lamb, chicken, vegetarian, and every one is a winner. However, it also shines for carry-out. , if we are feeling a little under the weather, this is our top choice, there is something healing and comforting about this food that I don't get from pizza or burgers

I've swung by several times for the lunch buffet, and they have a relatively large selection of entrees including lamb which I rarely see at other Indian buffets. I always leave very satisfied and wishing I had more stomach room. Service is pretty much as good as it gets for a buffet. It's a favorite lunch spot of mine.

I was not as impressed as I thought I'd be when I saw the City Pages reviews posted all over. I had the buffet, but found it hard to really find anything I can rave about or recommend. The Palak Paneer was very yellow and the spinach was not tender. It was in big pieces, not the way I normally have it. The texture I'm used to is more like spinach in the consistency of baby food with pieces of paneer. This one had almost no paneer and again was very yellow. Almost all the food in the buffet was very yellow, even a yellow lemon rice. The naan was good and a sourkraut with Indian spices I enjoyed but only 1 serving the 2nd small serving was too much. I can't say I would eat there again.

I love Indian food and Great India is at the top of the list. My husband and I have been going there for the last few years and have never been disappointed. They provide amazingly flavorful food in generous portions, which means I always get another meal for lunch the next day! Prices are incredibly reasonable. We always order Naan at Great India. They have several options for fillings and our favorites are the garlic, onion and cheese naans. Also, make sure to order a bowl of Kheer for dessert. This amazing rice pudding will leave you smiling for sure. Tonight when we went I tried the Lassi for the first time ever. This is a very light and tasty yogurt beverage that I will definitely be ordering again. The service is excellent at Great India. The waiters are very friendly and will always keep your water glass full. Great India is definitely worth the drive to Brooklyn Center!

Standard strip-mall Indian restaurant: underwhelming decor and atmosphere, decent food, okay service. Nothing stood out during my meal and I had appetizer, 2 entrees (took some back to hotel for later meal), and dessert. The mango lassi was extremely (too) sweet and tasted syrupy to me. The samosas were excellent with tamarind sauce. The chana masala lacked strength and came across as overly bland, even for a vegetarian dish. The tikki masala...well, that's what I ordered and that's what I got. In the end, I filed my stomach a bit and it was close to my hotel. But I won't be back because the entire meal lacked any significant reason to consider a return. Mediocre in every way, the reviews on the door did not tell the tale of my visit that day.

I have always enjoyed the food here, although I have always ordered the food to go so I cannot review the buffet. My go to meal is the chicken vinadloo made extra spicy with an order of the garlic naan. The food always comes piping hot, fresh and with enough food for two meals. The staff is friendly and always accommodating. Give this place a try and support local businesses!

I used to work not too far from Great India and was in there for lunch at least a couple of times a week for their buffet. These days I don't get up there as much as I used to but I still enjoy it when I'm able to. If I could use one word to describe Great India, it would be consistent. Their buffet is always great, fresh food, well seasoned and flavorful. On the other hand, their buffet is really consistent in that it never really changes. It's basically the same set of dishes everyday with a few dishes that rotate in and out. I'd like to see a little more variety but as good as their food is, I can't complain too much. The folks that work there are great as well, super friendly.

Great food, not just great Indian Food. Broad selection of Indian food, limited selection of beer and wine (but several from India) including Flying Horse Royal Lager, my personal favorite and great with spicy food. If you like spicy, you can get it hot, if you like very mild, they are happy to do that for you also. Many great vegetarian options, as well as goat, lamb, beef and chicken. Dinner service was ok, a little off, but the food was so great that I had to give it five stars. You can always tell a great ethnic restaurant by how many eat there - and at least half the tables had groups of Indians. For some information on the menu, times, etc, go to their web site at greatindiarestaurant.us Without a doubt a place to go back to when we are in the Cities again.

The food here is great, but it's such a bummer the service isn't. I came here for the lunch buffet on a Friday at 2pm [their lunch is over at 3pm]. I was seated, and had eaten for 20 minutes, before the server came and asked me, her exact words, "Are you done, we are closing?" If she was only going to give me 20 minutes to eat before kicking me out, she shouldn't have sat me down. This isn't the first time I received poor service from the same waitress. This place would be great if it weren't for her. The place looks great, but the environment is a little awkward. It's very quiet, and sometimes I feel uncomfortable have conversations because it's so quiet. After being treated so poorly by the same waitress on multiple occasions, I decided to venture out and try a new Indian restaurant and would definitely recommend India Palace in Roseville if you feel the same way about the service!

I've been in town for a couple of weeks. This place is down the street from the hotel. I am tough to please where Indian food is concerned. I've eaten at some of the best Indian restaurants in the world-and not all Indian restaurants are created equal. This is definitely not one of the best I've eaten at. But the food is decently seasoned, nicely prepared, and has nice size portions. The price is comparable to most Indian restaurants. I really have no complaints about this place. I have not eaten the buffet. I have ordered only dinner take out.

What do you think I'd have to pay these amazing chefs to live in my basement and cook every meal for me??? I can't get enough of this place! My family enjoys our weekly trip to the best Indian buffet that we know of. I'm so thankful that they have so many vegetarian options on their menu and buffet. There is also always something for the kids to enjoy. My daughter wishes for naan hours after we've eaten there. I also appreciate how kind and sweet the servers are to my children. I ordered take out and my two favorites at any Indian restaurant are chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. Although I must say ordering from here was decent not the best I've had not the worst the reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the service. The woman taking my order came off as rude and when I went to pick it up she didn't say a word. She didn't even look like she wanted to be there. A great restaurants includes great service as well as great food. I don't know if I'll ever actually sit and eat.
