Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Super delicious food. The pizza was great but so was the hoagies. My wife just kept saying 'yummy'. Highly recommend. The owner/manager lady even gave us samples of the pizza...come spend money here.

I LOVE Davannis, nothing beats there turkey Hoggie on wheat bread. They put quite a bit Italian mayo so i usually ask light. They have a great white pizza. This is a wonderfully lunch place, easy to bring the kids. People are always very friendly and great

I was visiting Minneapolis for a short trip and I came in late on a weeknight. Davanni's was one of the only places open and walking distance to where I was staying. By the way, this California girl deciding to walk a measly 0.2 miles in the Minnesota January winter weather was not the brightest idea I've ever had. So on to the food. Since I was flying solo I didn't really want a whole pizza to myself so the guy suggested a calzone. I chose the onion, green pepper and sausage one. It took about 20 minutes to be made. Had to walk it back and it was still warm in the center when I got to dig in. Yummy crust on the outside with a cheesy center. Good price, well-made calzone, open late. Not too shabby.

I used to love their deep dish pizzas so when in town ordered it. Yuck. This place has seriously gone down hill and cannot justify the price. Papa johns is better. Also funny ordered black olives on half and pineapple on the other (online). It came with both toppings on one side and none on the other. Good sign of employees who don't care!

Excellent deep-dish pan pizza. I couldn't eat it all so took it back to my hotel room where I had a refrigerator. It was just as good when I heated it up the next evening for "Round Two". Would have liked the restaurant more if they had servers. As it was, I ordered my pizza and pre-paid for two beers at the counter, got my own water, utensils, shake cheese and peppers and returned for the pizza when called. If I based my rating solely on the restaurant, I would have just given it three stars -- basically a fast food joint with good food. But, the pizza was so good I just rated it on that. I only had the deep-dish pepperoni and mushroom (my standard for a pizza place the first time I eat there -- if you can't get that right, I'll never go back). I'll definitely go back next time I'm in the area (I visit Minneapolis quite often). While it's not the "perfect" Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, I'm not really the caring kind. Next time I'll try something different, although I'm sure I'll be inclined to stick with what I know.

Don't come here. 15 people in the resturant at 1115 took 25 minutes to get 6 wings and a calzone. Needs an expo and a manager that give a damn really badly

To summarize, my calzone tasted scarily like plastic and was wet. I was unsure as to why and the pasta was falling apart it was so over cooked and The spinach was just globbed on top. Too expensive for portions. The garlic bread was good though.

Convenience is the name of the game with this place. Convenient location, fast service, and friendly employees make it easy to drop in and grab a pizza by the slice, or even a whole pizza, at the drop of a hat. The crust is just the right mix of crunchy (not too thin and crispy) and soft (but not too doughy), and the seasonings are just right in the sauce (not too sweet, not too spicy). If I was in a time crunch and needed something fast and filling, this was my go-to spot no matter the time of year.

Davanni's is next door to my home so though I'm only checking in when I think about it, quite honestly I eat here at least once every two weeks. The thing I've learned about Davanni's is that the food and quality of your experience is soley based on who is working that night. Some days I get great food that seems fresh and well made and other days I would almost take it back if I had the energy to head back out. I prefer to get their southwest chicken sub (the chicken is lightly cut and the salsa is spicy and tangy). As long as the bread is fresh and the dressing doesn't make the lettuce limp, the sandwich is usually to die for. Their pizza is alright - nothing extraordinarily special, but for the price one can't complain. I recently discovered their Penne pasta with red/white sauce mix is quite delicious as they serve it with additional melted cheese and it becomes all gooey and the pasta is usually aldente just like I like. The garlic bread which is served with everything isn't as salty or buttery as one might like, but it serves it purpose. Honestly the location downtown is nice because it's always clean, rarely busy and they always have their big screen turned to the local sports teams. It's a great place to settle in with decent food, get some free wi-fi, watch a game and their soda machine is something out of the future - it's awesome!

I'd been to the Davanni's over on Riverside several times when I used to live over there, plus they deliver, so for a while I enjoyed their greasy if unspectacular food. I often got their calzones. For some reason I got a wild hair to come over to this downtown location and I must say, it was pretty awful. I can't say much about the pizza, but the experience reminded me how overpriced and greasy Davanni's is. The employees were nice enough, but it took quite a while to get my calzone. The side Caesar salad I had was OK, nothing special but decent for $2.40 or whatever. It seemed that since they had to make my calzone to order, it took like 10-15 minutes to get it ready. That's not the end of the world, but once I got it, grease was just flooding out of it into a pool on the plate. I guess I just had a craving for calzones, which not a lot of places do. But the calzone and a side Caesar ran to nearly $10, without a drink. There are way better and more affordable options downtown, even just the pedestrian skyway joints. Then, to top it off I got panhandled by some dude just as I was finishing my food, in the restaurant. I know this is just fast-food pizza, but the grease factor is pretty sickening and the whole experience is kinda lousy. They have a nice big space; it's too bad there's not a better restaurant here. I won't be back.

I must start off by saying is that the staff here is extremely nice. The only thing which I don't seem to like about this place is that the quality of the food tends to vary. But if its fresh and hot, it's always good. They have good deep dish pizza, their garlic cheese bread is worth trying. They also seem to have a few options for beer. You must try out their soda machine which provides you with crazy amount of options, with a touch interface, something which I have never seen elsewhere. They are prices are not cheap but if you are a student at MCTC or another college you get a discount. This is not a fancy place, you order at the counter and your name is called when your order is ready. But if they are not busy they will bring the food to your table.

I agree with Val's review of the garlic cheese bread. Don't waste your time.

Davanni's has great thin crust pizza. As all thin crust pizza lovers know, it can be very difficult to find a great thin crust. Regular chains like Domino's and Pizza Hut either make it dry and crispy or rubbery. Davanni's is thin but soft, reminiscent of the local place in my hometown growing up. Davanni's garlic cheese bread seriously sucks (mushy, greasy, no garlic flavor and too much cheese), but I recently tried the bread sticks which were a vast improvement. Delivery is usually pretty fast, and the food is always enjoyable.

The food is fantastic, but what makes this a 5-star place is the employees. Seriously, I haven't seen such friendly faces! They remember me every time I come in - even my order! And what's more, the food is consistently delicious, cheap and fast!

Excellent Calzones and Pizza!

I come to this Davanni's all the time when i'm in school with my good buddy Charlie. Prompt service is a plus... (Thus the term tips... to insure prompt service...) Davanni's is a lil bit on the spendier side of the Pizza Chains, but it is definently worth it. Beats the pants off Dominoes pizza or sandwiches any day of the week... And because im a student at MCTC.... STUDENT DISCOUNT BABY! HAHA... Thats why this particular Davanni's gets 4 stars instead of 3....

Tried to order delivery from them. Sat around waiting on it. Called them an HOUR later and they never received the online order despite getting an e-mail from them. By then their delivery was closed. Complete crap.

Dirty plates. All of them. Showed the staff. They came out 2 minutes later with more dirty plates.

Don't even bother ordering pizza by the slice here. I think they must make thier pizzas at least a few hours in advance because they taste very bland and dry, and the toppings and cheese taste like they've been affected by either excessive storage time or freezing. Thier calzones are pretty good, but I'd hit up the places in the Downtown Skyway's for pizza by the slice instead. I've had whole pizzas at other Davanni's and thought they tasted good but have only had slices from this location and haven't been too impressed. The possibility that you may get a good whole pizza here prevents me from giving them lower than a 3 star rating but I can't guarantee you're gonna like it.

We are reviewing a pizza joint folks, let's keep this in mind. Davanni's is in my neighborhood and is across the street from Domino's. So, when I'm feeling like a higher quality pie, I opt for them They also have pastas and calzones on the menu, so there are generally more options to choose from. The pizza is outstanding albeit a little greasy (but hey, if you are using cheese and meat it is bound to happen). They have a lot of different sauce options and there are not very many house pizzas to choose from so I generally just build my own. They are quick with delivery and quick to pop up the pies, so there is not a lot of wait to get your grub. I am becoming a big fan of their lasagna and their garlic bread. I can understand not liking the garlic bread if you prefer a harder crust and less butter/cheese. I personally LOVE the garlic bread. It's such a guilty pleasure ordering this because it goes so well with their pastas and I use it to soak up the red sauce. I wish they offered more coupons but other then that - I will continue to go here for all my quick dinner at home needs.
