Go for the music, not the just ok food and inattentive poor service. We ate in the lounge. Really nice room for music. Not overly loud, good sight lines, and a good sized dance floor. Great music -Arne Fogel and the Wolverines trio. Food is ok, nothing special, typical supper club stuff. we were too late for Happy Hour but looks like lots of good Happy hour specials. Service was terrible. We were a party of 3, server said I only have 2 menus, so she left us with 2 menus. This was early , room not overly crowded.no reason to run out of menus! Asked if the pot pie had mushrooms. She said I don't know, did not offer to find out so I asked her if she could find out and she said ok. When she came back she said, there are no mushrooms, but it's thinner than usual tonight, more like soup. Really?how appetizing... Did not give us expectations of a good experience. She said burger came with pickle. It did not. Did not bring steak knife for steak.had to ask for both. Food was ok. She did not check on us, couldn't find her when one of our party wanted to order dessert. Could not find her when we wanted to pay our bill.

So glad to have a good, new restaurant in this location. This is our second time here and the Parmesan Crusted Walleye is already my "usual". I love walleye but this one goes beyond the norm. Service could not be better and we like the pretty location. First time my husband had Filet mignon Wellington, something he loves and has it seem in quite some time. It is the chef's "deconstructed" version which he felt could have had more of the pastry but it was enjoyable. Rustic Apple tart was very good and something outside the usual. Menu in general is fairly typical of a supper club but with an updated approach. Try it, you'll like it!

The northeast suburban area has needed a place with a little class for a long time. This is it. The food was excellent and the service was friendly but professional. I started with the poutine with shredded lamb,,, was savory and warming, pure comfort food. The house salad, which I split with my wife, was very good. My main plate was the Parmesan Crusted Walleye. I'm pretty sure that this is the best walleye in Minnesota!!!! My wife had Roast Chicken Breast in Champagne Cream with Cheddar-Chestnut Bread Pudding, and veggies. She loved it. After dinner we went into the bar/lounge area. An English singer, Maria Dunsmore, performed with the Jason Weismann Quartet. This is a more traditional supper club type atmosphere, with a mix of music/songs typical of an upscale supper club. This is our third time at Crooners since they opened. While we liked it the first to times, it keeps getting better. The staff is relaxed, the atmosphere in the dining area is casual (wear nice clothes), and the separate lounge has a bit of energy. We'll be back!

We went with a group of three couples, prime time on a Saturday night, no reservations, but, we were able to get right into the bar area. The parking lot was packed, the bar was busy and the restaurant area was busy.... Nice crowd, perhaps a bit older but there were kids at the table next to us. The atmosphere is very nice, freshly remodeled, comfortable lighting, clean restrooms, and a band in the bar. Service was reasonable considering the crowd. I had Prime Rib that was OK, not spectacular or memorable, nor would I order it again. At $25 I felt it was a bit pricey. My wife had the walleye and she was very pleased. Again, I think at $24 it was a bit pricey. I had a Surly Furious, no complaints there! My wife started out with a Mojito that absolutely failed. Although it looked good in a nice tall glass with plenty of mint leaves, it had a taste that really missed the mark. I have no idea what the bartender did to ruin it. She sent it back and went to a drink that would be more difficult to screw up. Her after dinner drink (Smith and Kearns) also failed in that it was short of Kahlua. They corrected this one also and produced a reasonable rendition the second time around. Our bill was $74 and change for 2 meals, no appetizers, no dessert, 1 beer and 2 drinks. We are in the northern suburbs, I hate to say it but this restaurant thinks they are catering to the crowd from the south metro area. Maybe it's just me as I expect some value and really good food if I am paying prices I deem to be higher than expected. There's a good chance we won't return, but hey, you never know. The next time around I will have a better idea of what to expect.

Nice live jazz music, good view outside the patio. Fun place. Ordered pork chop with broccoli and mashed potato. It was great.

Where to start.... The evening started well. We were greeted and seated a half hour earlier than our reservations were for. The hostesses were very kind. Our waitress was also very friendly but perhaps a little over talkative and shared too much (including how her grandmother orders her prime rib and how slowly she eats it.) I ordered a rib eye, thinking that for the price of $38 for the entree it would be delicious. I ordered it medium rare. When it came out and I started digging in it was cooked perfectly until I got a bit farther to one side of the steak. It was rare and I don't mean a little red in the middle, I mean red from just below the crust all the way through (e.g., blue rare). The waitress and both managers were apologetic and fixed the steak. But.... After fixing the steak they were almost too pushy. They checked in every few minutes, asking the same question the previous manager or waitress asked. Now mind you, this isn't a terrible thing in most , but did often break the conversation my fiancee were having. By the end of the meal it became somewhat annoying. Later, my fiancee excused herself to the bathroom at which time our waitress offered to box her meal. Shortly after I finished my meal and the waitress cleared my plate. We were graciously offered dessert which we declined and said we were finished. We then sat and waited for 45 minutes thinking our check would show up. I could see our waitress attending to another table for a good 15-20 minutes. I finally was able to flag down one of the managers and ask for our bill. Right after that the waitress appeared with our check. For a Friday night during prime hours I would hope the service and food would have been better. I don't think I will be returning.

We arrived on a Friday night at approximately 8:45 PM. The parking lot was full and a very good New Orleans style blues band was excellent. We were seated right away, but sat for about 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us. We did have to ask for someone to help us. After that, though, things went exceptionally well. Dawn was our server and was very apologetic about the wait. Apparently there was a mixup of some sort. The menu is fantastic! Lots of variety and very interesting sauces. They make everything themselves. Our food was superb. We will go back again. The only reason I did not give five stars was because of the wait at the beginning. This is a new restaurant and there will be some bugs and we understand that but we will become regulars.

This is my second review of Crooners. I like this place so much that I considered not doing this review for fear that word will get out to those classless slugs who show up everywhere in Bermuda shorts and t-shirts dragging their ill-behaved children with them. (I'd like to have just one elegant place to go to that isn't ruined by that crowd ...) This time we went for breakfast on Sunday morning. They serve a brunch, which we plan on trying next, but went for the menu breakfast this time. We showed up 15 minutes early for our reservations, but they seated us right away. I ordered a Classic American Breakfast, which turned out to be 3 eggs to order, three large tasty sausages, fat slices of toast made from artisan bread and cottage fries (nothing special there) served fast and piping hot. Where else can you get all that for $8?!!! My wife ordered a breakfast sandwich ($10) which she couldn't finish. Add a perfectly mixed and creatively fashioned Bloody Mary ($9) and two splits of Asti-Spumanti at $6 each all served on an immaculate starched white tablecloth with spotless silverware and a nice view of the lake and you've got a superb beginning to your Sunday. Add free live music and a ***perfect*** server [just the right amount of attention -- ask for Chris with the bronze ponytail] and how can you beat it?? Our bill averaged out at less than $20 each not including tip. A Suggestion: Dress up a bit and add your part to the ambience of the place. With their talent line-up every evening, Crooner's reminds me a lot of Dakota Grill downtown -- only without the parking hassle, high prices on cocktails, and extra $$ on the fare.

Excellent service and wonderful food. We received a gift card so wanted to use it. Easy reservations online and all staff were warm, friendly and helpful. We will be going back!

Nice renovation compared to the bars in the same space previously. My wife and I had a few appetizers. The bruschetta was ok with avocado it was too messy. The relish tray was presented interestingly in an ice bucket. I will go back to try more.

Great place right on a small lake. Went out to celebrate my wife's birthday while in town for a high school choral contest nearby. Atmosphere and service was fantastic and the food was even better. The walleye was probably the best I have ever eaten, I highly recommend that dish if you visit. Overall, a great experience and will look forward to dining here again.

Outstanding food and service! Wonderful ambiance. Manager stopped by to inquire about our visit during the bar visit after dinner (Jazz artist Patty Peterson was singing). CLASS ACT!

I will NEVER step for into this establishment again I brought my mother out for a early dinner. Our service was horrible The am behind the bar we had to actually ask him "why such a bad day" his response was " well how SHOULD I be acting"? It got worse from there. after closing out with him to move to the other side to get some relief and hear some music. We run Into a man known as the "owner" that offers to replace the drinks we left with the a****** that we needed to leave from before walking out of the door. AFTER he tries to do a bit of OVERBOARD weird flirting he says we are 2 native women and native women DRINK so that is why our service was bad. He then goes onto say don't leave because he's been looking for a medicine man for a long time, a "real" one. I couldn't take anymore of this nonsense and held in my anger and sickness and walked out. My mother speechless. I will NEVER send my worse enemy to a horrible place ever.

A good supper club with good food, service and atmosphere. Went for Happy Hour and had the flatbread and bruschetta which were great at a good price. A jazz group were playing providing great atmosphere. They have added an outdoor patio which would make an excellent spot for drinks, lunch, or dinner. A hidden gem in Fridley.

Once again = HAPPY CUSTOMER And ~ I have a whole group of co- workers happy to agree also. We held a retirement party on Wednesday June 24th. The management was Very Helpful and kind to work with. We picked this location because it was very central for many of the guest and my previous experience here. They gave us a very special area to sprawl out our fun night and the atmosphere was perfect. Lots of light and widows. Close to the New deck overlooking the lake was nice also. A few of us went in for the specialty Cosmo. ..ummm....what I remember after that was we did not want the night to end. The group decided to take advantage of the happy hour special as we retired our friend from her nursing career. Crooners set up a special table for us with all the linens and fantastic, fast, fun service. All the girls of the wait staff were SooOooooOOO Nice to work with. Then came the food...》》》 I knew this place had amazing appetizers and now my friends at work know this true be true also. We pretty much tried one of everything...and doubles of things like; Mac&Cheese, Sliders, Ginger-Chicken... There was not one leftover! Everyone agreed the prices were very reasonable even when happy hour ended and the apps went back to regular price. The swing JAZZY crooners on the stage wowed us with their sultry songs... We even got out on the dance floor... Then we picked up our fedoras and swaggered out the door.

After being to Crooners (the music/bar side) just once, I know it's my new favorite place. The service is excellent (our waitress was SO fun, sweet and patient with my dads); the beautiful space is wide open, airy and spotless (doesn't smell at all like a bar); and what tops the list: THE JAZZ. We saw Judi Vinar and the Wolverines, and they were fabulous!!! Hope to see them play there again soon, and look forward to checking out other acts, too. Live music every night. That's just dreamy. Can't wait to go back!

Great atmosphere for a night of relaxation and a trip back in time when things were a little simpler. The food was fantastic. We started the night in the bar with a Dirty Dean Martini accompanied by blue cheese stuffed olives. They had a small, but good selection of beers. We were happy to see a few good options of locally brewed beers. After drinks we headed into the dining room with a great view of Moore Lake. We were greeted by our sever, Chris, who was a perfect addition to the night. The smorgasbord began with an order of their relish tray, french onion soup, and bread basket. The relish tray was nothing to write home about, but great if you want to start with something a bit healthier. The bread basket was only $3 and worth the price with the three different choices of carbohydrates. Now, here we need to pause for the french onion soup... It was a work of delicious double broth art. The broth was full of flavor and had just the right amount of caramelized onions. The bread held up just enough to add another texture to the mouth. And the cheese, oh the cheese. When you have to continue to keep pulling the ooey gooey cheese off your spoon so you don't have a large string hanging off your chin, you know it's the good stuff. The main course was an event of its own with prime rib with rosemary au jus, green beans and mashed potatoes. The prime rib was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was cut with a butter knife. The au jus had so much flavor that there would have been no need to season the meat. The mashed potatoes and beans were flavored enough for you wanting to come back for more. No bland presence there. The walleye dish with a lemon caper sauce was fresh, yet wouldn't leave you feeling hungry. We did agree that the side of pilaf was a bit of a bore. Last, but not least, we forked our way into the 3-cheese au gratin potatoes. At first glance it looks like a thick golden slice of lasagna. It was a golden slice of happiness. Layers of potatoes, cheese, cream and seasoning called you to come back for more, even when your stomach was screaming no. We ended the night back in the bar with a trip back in time with the live jazz band in full swing. Swinging and swaying couples took it to the dance floor to relive days of the past. If you happen upon Fridley I would start singing a tune and head on over to Crooners.

A nice surprise...I like Crooners. Formerly The Crab House...and then The Shorewood...and then back to the Crab House...and now Crooners! I tried them for lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised. I have to admit, I had a skeptical attitude because of the other, former tenants. The food was fantastic and the service was good. The decor is also nice, spacious and classy. I particularly like the huge windows in the dining room that look over Moore Lake. I get the impression these guys are more of a dinner spot, featuring some classic dinner selections and live music. I'd give them five stars but I have to try them one more time for dinner to see if everything is just as good and also consistent. -Daddy Maxx Retro

Not impressed with the portion size of the chicken parm for the price . The manager was creepy. He kept coming to the table talk to our 4year old daughter and even brought her into the kitchen , maybe he was trying to be nice but 5 visit to our table to talk to our little child is weird !!! Wouldn't go back -

This places exterior is very un-expecting, but is by far the one of the best restaurants in this area. (But then, again there isn't too much competition) My mother and I had the prime rib and the baby back ribs. Yes, yes we are two ladies that can definitely eat. The food was memorable, so that says a lot. We had a fantastic server, prompt and not over-bearing. This place is huge; you would never expect it and very well decorated, in a supper club kinda way - but I guess that's what they are going for. I highly suggest management making more of an attempt to make the outside more inviting... that is partially the reason why for so long (as with other reviews on here) I just drove past the place... as I complained to my husband in the car on our way home from work that there's no good food in the suburbs. Glad to have stubbled upon this neighborhood gem. I definitely will come again.

Great atmosphere and jazz. Went with my husband and a friend for Sunday brunch. Food was well prepared. Asked for extra veggies in my omelet and they happily complied. My husbands Eggs Benedict came originally with the eggs too hard. They replaced it quickly and to his point, It was PERFECTION. And then they took the charge off the bill. Classy! Service was brisk and friendly. The location had been many things over the past years and we were skeptical of this new iteration. We regret taking so long to check it out. We will be back for dinner and jazz with friends. No cover. Almost unheard of. We will try the outdoor patio and watch the leaves change this fall. Then back to brunch again for the Jazz. The space is fresh, open and comfortable. Such a great addition to the northern burbs that is the domain of tiresome chain restaurants!! How pleasant!! It's a Sublime addition to our neighborhood.

The parents are in town for a long weekend, they have been driving all day, we wanted to go to Red Cow for dinner but knew we would have to wait forever. What is close by and maybe a little bit classy? Yelp to the rescue! We live close to Crooner's and I drive past it twice a day, but I never would have chosen to go there just based off physical exterior. It's just sort of blah. However, Yelp reviews were good and the menu seemed legit, so why not. We got there around 7 and were seated right away (we made reservations but didn't seem to need them) in the main dining area. It had a nice view overlooking the lake. It took a little longer than usual for the waiter to make his way to the table but that was fine since we were catching up. Honestly, what probably irritated me the most is that we had to ask for water even though all of us ordered a cocktail and we didn't even get the waters until well after our appetizers were served. For starters, I ordered the french onion soup (I'm a sucker for it!) even though it was warm outside. SO good. My Mom and husband order the house salad and my Dad ordered the Caesar salad. I had a few bites of the house salad and it was delicious. It was three types of greens, walnuts, cranberries, feta, and a white balsamic vinaigrette. SO GOOD. Seriously. For dinner, we each ordered something different. I got the sirloin steak with mushrooms and tomato salsa. The steak and the mushrooms were good but the salsa was weird and didn't fit with the rest of the dish. Also, I ordered it medium rare and it was definitely more medium/medium well since there was almost no pink the middle. My Mom got the walleye and loved it. It was a huge portion and the capers that accompanied the fish were delicious. The husband got the prime rib, which looked delicious and he clearly enjoyed since he ate the whole thing. My Dad got a roasted chicken dishwhich he also enjoyed. The waiter described his dish as a "classed up" thanksgiving dinner and that seemed pretty accurate. On the way out, the jazz music in the lounge was REALLY loud and we were glad that we didn't sit in that area for dinner. The Happy Hour menu at Crooners seems pretty great, so that will definitely be our next appearance at Crooners.

Service was great, however the food was not good. I had the steak and eggs, it was so gross, bland, steak was so bad I couldn't even chew it. Bloody Mary was ok.

Sorry guys. After the past few visits the food has been sub-par. The Walleye has not been good. And tonight, on my wife's 45th b-day, the shrimp was overcooked, and rubbery. Come on. Don't make me look bad. I vouch for you, and then you give me this!?! Is there a B-squad on weeknights? WTF. I even asked the waitress before I ordered my Walleye telling her my first time was mouth-watering, and the second time sucked. So I wanted to make sure someone was someone focused on this. She had no clue. So I asked to speak with the chef before ordering. And 5 minutes later, no chef, and just the waitress saying it would be OK. And it was gross. But the music entertainment was good. And my wife and I danced. Work on CONSISTENCY! And we MIGHT be back.
