4 stars because it's a great live music venue downtown. $5 cover at the door to see a jam band called Frog Leg. They put on a great show. Would've given 5 stars if they had a better beer selection. Only an IPA and your typical coors/budweiser cans. But definitely a place to check out if you happen to be in Minneapolis for a night

There's no question the music is top notch most of the time. The excellent Acoustics help further the good sound. People come there to DANCE. Great place to showcase the myriad of talent the Twin Cities has to offer.

Beer selection and Dr. Mambo's Combo were great! But one bouncer deemed my friend too inebriated to hang, and proceeded to kick me out based on association alone. Poor form!

Honestly would kind of consider this a dive bar, live music pretty much every night, only thing was there was probably 50 or so people on 2 sides of the bar with only 2 bartenders. It took awhile for many people to get served. That was my only gripe with the place.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a quick bite. Free popcorn and cheeseburger and chips was the extent of what the kitchen was offering so that's what we had. Overall, pretty good cheeseburger-can't speak to much else about the place.

This might seem confusing because I had an awesome time at this place but I'm only giving it three stars. Why? The bartender made the worst drinks I've ever had and if you have seen my other reviews you know that I'm a dive bar queen! I ordered a vodka soda and got coconut flavored rum with soda water, my husband ordered a vodka red-bull and could barely swallow two sips. Perhaps a slight mistake on what alcohol was grabbed but this was a common sentiment within our party. Also a disclaimer: It wasn't that they were too strong, I think they were honestly just poorly mixed. The atmosphere is really great for the north loop, lots of large oak booths, a long bar and great spot to see the Int'l Reggae Band on a Saturday night. The patrons are friendly and it was a great mix of different ethnicities and ages. Ill be back to this bar, but will stick to the non-mixed drinks because it was unbearable!

What can I say. The burgers rock, the wings are tasty and are a Happy Hour staple, and they have snappy service as long as they have a good customer to bartender ratio. We were there on Dad Rock nite which sucked. But if they have a good band, this place can't be beat with the free parking, spacious bar, free popcorn, and accessible warehouse district location. Shawn's Tip: Free popcorn at the back of the bar!

Relaxed burger and beer joint. Great regional music venue. The beauty of this place is that it is practically dead around 6-8 PM - right before the music starts. Fast service. Tables and floor might be a little sticky and the woman's restroom reminds me of college. So head on down for a twins game, loosen your tie and eat the free popcorn.

Bunkers is fairly well the definition of a dive bar. It's pretty big, pretty dark inside and pretty OK. On the plus side, you can tell that this is a place known for local music and a good stiff drink. The beer selection was decent enough, with a dozen or maybe more options on tap and more in bottles. Nothing too froo foo, just good solid selection. I did hear some folks at the table next to ours complaining about their mixed drinks, but as I stuck with beer, I have no comment on the liquor. The stage at Bunkers is great... able to be seen from most tables, sound system adequately fills the space and then some. We had a very enjoyable time listening to music. Didn't drink quite enough to get myself out on the dance floor, but others certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. We did not try the food as the free popcorn was plenty to munch on. After reading reviews here, I came with cash just in case. I can't say whether it was cash only (previous reviews seem mixed on this point), but we paid cash and that seemed good with everyone. I did hear our waitress tell the table next to us that they won't run a tab, so maybe that's an indication that there's a credit card option after all. Finally, again after reading reviews here, I went to the bathroom with some trepidation. But I found four stalls and a decently appointed bathroom with plenty of paper towels. So perhaps they have upgraded since some of the reviews here. We'd come back if there was someone we wanted to see playing Bunkers for sure. Seems like a good old fashioned divey bar with a good local following. FWIW.

Bunkers is one of my favorite places in Minneapolis for live music. The combination of the diveyness of the bar plus the placement of the stage and the regular bands that they have in rotation makes this my happy place. The drinks can be weird sometimes (their rail vodka tastes AWFUL...) and the drinks aren't strong at all. The bathrooms are weird and usually to some varying degree of yucky. But I've met some amazing characters had had such great conversations in there that I don't mind at all that I feel like I have to wash my hands twice and pray that they actually have paper towels there. Word to the wise, the bar has this weird no-tab policy, so you can estimate how much you'll be drinking that night when you place your first drink order and they'll give you cash back. This is just a more annoying quirk than anything, but just know how they do this here.

Awesome live music and would've gotten 5 stars if not for the long wait at the bar for a drink or from wait staff. Several cocktails served on the weak side. Overall a great location for a group looking to enjoy music, dancing, and some character watching!

I went on a Saturday, when local R&B band Boombox played. They performed three sets and did a great job keeping the crowd energized and entertained. Typically, they're there on Wednesday's so if you're interested...check them out. RE: Establishment - Cover charge was $7, which wasn't bad. Just think about how much it would have cost at the Dakota. - Ambiance, there's no need to get all dolled up; the place is very casual and so is the crowd. It's a diverse group, but everyone's there to have a good time and party together. -There is a small dance floor so if the mood strikes you, you can "get down". -I did see the free parking lot and there was lots of space. -As other have mentioned, they don't take credit cards, but they have an ATM. However, the bartender offered to run my friends card for $30 and give her $30 from the register, which helped her save on the fees. With that, not sure why they are anti-credit cards seeing that they have the equipment, but...whatever! RE: Food/ Drinks -I didn't try any of the food and it didn't look like anyone else was eating. -I did have a couple of drinks which were good and so cheap, $5.25 for a pineapple/cranberry/rum concoction which at a place like Seven which would have been $9/$11. -I couldn't tell where people were getting the free popcorn from, but didn't really care. I knew it wasn't from Candy Land (love their Butter Popcorn), so I was fine without it. Overall, great night and I'll definitely be back.

Stopped in late one night as part of a pub crawl. GB Leighton was playing, the crowd was definitely older (40's +) but having a great time. Nobody was really dressed up, very casual. I could see this place becoming a regular stop on my nights out if this is the norm. Free popcorn was a plus! Drinks were a little on the light side...

I can't say that we come here often, but every time my wife and I do, we've heard really fun music. I wouldn't come for the food. It's ok, but there are other, better restaurants in North Loop. And the drinks are nothing special, in fact we usually have tap beer. (Pretty good selection.) But its the music that keeps us coming back. It's a great venue that books enjoyable bands. People watching here is fun too. There are some real characters to see.

This is a great place to go for a chill night with friends for cheap drinks and good music! It seems like there is a local band playing here every night (at least weekends) and I've never paid more than $12 for cover. Also, Tuesday Reggae night is always a worth it! Don't bother dressing up here, the atmosphere is very casual. Plan for comfort so you can dance all night long! Try to hold your bladder here, because the bathroom is a tiny 1 stall, dark and dirty place. The line gets long to pee, but you could eat some free popcorn while waiting to kill the time! Also, it's in the north loop area with free parking-bonus!

If this review was based on the band I saw at Bunker's last weekend it would no doubt be 5/5 (Alex Rossi & Root City - go see 'em, I beg you). But, this review is about Bunker's which unfortunately didn't stand up to the actual entertainment. This old bar is a Warehouse District staple before the Warehouse District was the "North Loop Warehouse District" it is today. It's grimy, greasy, and smells like a musty cheeseburger. However, this place is a spectacular venue to watch a band on a Saturday night - it's not big, and the stage is placed diagonally in the corner so everyone has a solid view, plus the acoustics are great. The food is no good & the drinks are just as spendy as the many trendy bars surrounding. With that said, count me in if a great band is playing. FYI $7 cover.

This is a spacious little bar with a great stage for live music. The food is much better than average for bar food. And, the portions are generous. The ingredients seem surprisingly fresh. There are a few good servers and a few that need a bit of work on their customer service skills. But overall, it's decent service. If you are in the neighborhood and need to grab a quick bite or want to grab a beer after work, this is a pretty solid spot that will not disappoint.

Bunker's is right in all the action of the North Loop, directly across from Borough and Parlour (and a few steps from Bar La Grassa), yet somehow all the friends I went with had no idea it existed. It's a music venue that has live music every night. You may not have heard of any of the bands during the week, they are local mainstays in the blues, roots, & funk genres. However, they do sometimes bring in other big acts on weekends from time to time. I must say, the band I heard was entertaining and had a lot of fun instruments, they were energetic and I was impressed at how long they played without a break. I have seen Dr. Mambo's Combo play on a different night - that band is great, very soulful R&B sound. The place is small, if there weren't windows, it would almost seem as if you were in a basement, dark with brick walls. There is really nothing special about the interior, I can imagine opening the door to this place a few decades ago with a plume of smoke greeting you. I would hesitate to call this place a dive, however, some people would possibly refer to it as so, especially given the posh restaurants surrounding it. The crowd is diverse, the music appeals to many people. The stage is quite small, but the musicians and equipment use every square inch. There is a floor area with tall tables in front of the stage - and people really do dance! There is a long bar, booths in the back, and tables around the perimeter. I happened to only see one server the entire time we were there, and she was great! She was attentive, quick and friendly. Cons: the space is small and it doesn't seem as though the acoustics are really set up for the space (i.e. brick walls) - my throat was raspy at the end of the night from actually yelling vs. talking - don't go here expecting to have a nice romantic conversation. The women's bathroom has 1 stall - and it is infinitesimally small. Pros: free popcorn in the back and the drinks are an average price (which is nice, given the location). It's easy to get a cab at the end of the night! I had a fun time here, it's a low-key atmosphere and you can dress however you please, 3 stars seems low, but 4 seems much too high.

Two words: Reggae Night! The International Reggae All Stars band is awesome; they are there every Tuesday. The bartenders are nice and the drinks are relatively cheap. Fun place to be! It's definitely a dive though, so don't expect chandeliers or suit-and-tie waitstaff.

Bunkers is a an old work horse in the ever expanding posh N loop area. A good value lunch spot with above ave bar menu and large portions, including daily specials. Food options are limited after lunch. Decent HH, but nothing exceptional. Can get crowded on weekends.

I love this place, but I also kind of hate this place. I will start with the good- It's cozy, cool, has a great vibe, and great bands. The bad- It's way too small. They need to stop letting people in the door when it gets to the point that it takes 15 minutes to get from one side of the place to the other when it should take 8 seconds. When it's this busy, it's damn near impossible to get a drink at the bar. It also gets so effing hot in there that you shed 10 lbs in sweat, even in the dead of winter. Open a door or something, people! But, never the less, I will still go back, cuz the place is cool, and a fun spot to watch a show.

I was here last Sat night. WOW!! I had a blast! Great Band, good atmosphere, and attentive bar tender. The band lineups for this place seem very good, and if they have more bands like the one that played on Sat. night I'll be back for sure.

Bunker's is a highly over rated dive. It's only getting a star or two from me because of it's food. The burgers and chicken drummies are pretty tasty (if they actually pay attention and don't over cook/burn them) The last handful of times we have gone in, we've only been served once. All the other times, the bartender (different ones mind you) completely ignore us. We will sit there for a good 10-15 minutes and still get no service. Such a joke. Music wise, I would never pay $10+ to see anyone perform there and I can't even imagine what that would be like, to have 100+ people packed in and only one, single stall in the women's bathroom. Trust, I love a good dive bar, but not this one.

Bunkers is great, and it's become a Minneapolis music institution. Where else can you listen to live music (and GOOD live music) every night of the week? Dependent on the night, you might be listening to funk, reggae, rock and roll, or soul and everything in between. The dance floor is generally hopping after 10pm and the people watching is unparalleled - I mean seriously where do these people come from - head-to-toe Fubu, short-shorts in the winter, cheetah print, fake fur, (p)leather?! AMAZING! A couple things to keep in mind before heading to Bunkers: -There is a cover charge every night. It's usually under $10 and only after 9pm.... but still, cover charges are lame. -They have free popcorn. -There is an ATM, but otherwise it's cash only. -They have great burgers. -Did I mention the great live music and phenomenal people watching?

This place looks a little spooky to out of towners but is really quite friendly and laid back. Crosses age groups well so if you're an aging rock fan this could be your place. For me, best night is Wed where GB Leighton is the house band. He starts at 9:50pm and plays two sets. Kind of a fun Springseen sound. As far as lunch or food for that matter, forget it. But try out Wed night, especially if you like a Chicago vibe. Recently GB was joined by Morris Day's lead guitarist so you might be in for a treat.

Before I went to Bunkers I read all the reviews. So I was looking forward to having a great time. The bartender was pretty rude right when we got there and wouldn't let us push tables together for our larger group. Then when we moved to a spot where she said we would be able to move tables together she said we couldn't sit there it was reserved. We were the only ones in there!!!! When I asked her for silverware to cut the b-day cake we had brought for our guest of honor. The bartender told me just to wipe off the dirty one I had. I had no idea it was an act of God to get a clean knife. The female bartender was lazy and a bit unprofessional. I've been to dive bars and got better service. Their prices were a bit on the higher side considering. They must have to charge higher prices cuz they can't afford to clean their utensils and pay for friendly waitstaff. I bet they don't work for tips they work on engergy saving commission. I probably wouldn't go back there unless I was forced to and there was nothing else open.

there are so many shitty places around here, but only Bunker's has regular nights featuring the session guitarist of G. B. Leighton playing CCR songs or whatever the people piped in from Edina scream over these days. food is also available if you dont feel bad about yourself already.

My Number One favorite place to visit in the metro on Wednesdays! GB is absolutely fabulous, and I have since become such a fan, buying all his CD's and watching his YouTube's. Easy parking; good drinks; friendly employees. But mostly it's about the music!

Good afterwork bar, good bar to hear some live music. They have a decent sized dance floor, but sometimes depending on the band it can get a little cramped. Be sure to check out the Mambo Combo and you might be surprised to see some folks from Prince's old groups. It is a great jam session for sure!
