Chewy toothsome bagels--like I love them. Just the right size. I had honey walnut cream cheese on a cinnamon bagel. I ate my whole bagel and didn't feel full--at all. It was just right. The cinnamon bagel was subtle--don't think Cinnabon. It was dusted with cinnamon sugar on the outside and plain good old fashioned chewy bagel on the inside. Dark roast coffee was bracing with a little bitterness that I like but without tasting burned or overcooked. A tip for Bruegers: You have a problem of riches. So many bagel variations and so little time. So, hire a Bagel Diviner/Bagel Doctor to suss the patron and prescribe a bagel. Your staff are already fun and engaging. I would have benefitted from a bagel doctor this morning. Engaging in self help, I polled the locals in line with me, but they were unsure themselves (if I can't get a local opinion in Minneapolis--that's scary, eh?). So, I self-diagnosed and am feeling pretty smug about my eventual choice, but the anxiety of choosing from amongst so many intriguing variations (many with melted cheddar--slurp) before finally committing to the cinnamon....it was agonizing! Well, I'm a fan of facing my fears and anxieties head on, so while Bruegers thinks about my suggestion of bringing in bagel doctors, I will continue to self-treat and face the myriad bagel choices head on, confident that I will land on the right choice every time.

I should have paid attention to the low ratings of this place...2 stars for me. First and last experience here. The person who helped me was beyond rude and talked to me like I was stupid. 2 things that don't sit well with me especially since I'm buying a bagel. The bagel was small and the cream cheese tasted like it had been sitting out. The coffee was also lukewarm. Hopefully if you come here, you have a better experience than I did. Good luck if you have the worker that I did. I don't even need to name drop as you will know who she is when you encounter her.

Me? Not a bagel expert. I don't eat them that often and I've spent approximately 4 days of my life in New York City and none of those days started with a bagel. So this review will have very little to do with the actual bagels themselves because I'm not sure how they stack up against other bagels in the world. If I had to wager a guess, my biggest complaint would be that they're pretty overpriced for what they are. I don't think they taste any different from any other bagel I've had but the price *is* significantly higher. I wish I could give them 2.5 stars. The only reason I come here is because this is the closest bagel spot to my office. There are some other options nearby but this restaurant is THE closest, so it frequently wins out for that reason alone. That being said, there are a number of things about Bruegger's that annoy me (that aren't the bagels) and while I've really only been to 2 or 3 other locations, they were all like this so I hold it against all of them. In short, my two biggest pet peeves with this place are: 1--It's disorganized. 2--Too much cream cheese. If it never got busy, the fact that the lack of a designated "standing in line" area is missing wouldn't be that big of a deal. But it DOES get busy I'm not sure what the excuse is. They always have a large staff of people who are moving pretty quickly so the "line" moves along fairly quickly but it usually takes awhile to figure out where the end of the line is and I've witnessed a number of instances where someone walked in and ignored the fact that there was a line and just hopped right into the middle of the herd and stole somebody else's place. And being Minnesotans, does anybody ever say anything? Of course not! Everybody just stands there feeling uncomfortable and looking at each other shyly, waiting and hoping that someone else will say something. And when nobody does, the intruder is allowed to cut into line and they don't even realize they've done anything wrong. Most of the other restaurants in the area cater to this quirky aspect of our Minnesotanness and set up designated standing in line places. But not here. The second part that bothers me is that they put WAY too much cream cheese on the bagels. If you were a huge cream cheese addict you might see this as a positive but I prefer my cream cheese in moderation and have to spend a good deal of time removing the excess cream cheese before I'll eat it. I wish they served it in individual servings instead of schmearing it on for you so you could spread as much or as little as you wanted. That said, it's still an ok place to grab a bagel and I probably won't stop coming here.

Not a fan of bagels. Trying to cut down on eating white flour and we all know how unhealthy refined carbs are. But Bruegger's has this bagel with a sundried tomato pesto with cheese and egg whites (no yolk). Delicious. I was surpised how good it was and no yolk.

Best Bagels in the country! Ten times better than the fluffy, bland things you find in NYC. Brugger's offers chewy, dense, flavorful creations that are sure to please any bagel connoisseur. Crispy perfection on the outside, always fresh and chewy inside - pair one with a gourmet cream cheese or sandwich meat and you will not be disappointed. Inexpensive and opens at dawn every day.

I have to share the experience i just saw! My friend ordered a lunch bagel. When she went to check out, I saw the best customer service I've seen in a LONG time. The cashier looked at the order, looked at the total and recommended adding a side that would make it cheaper and give her more food. This type of interaction may appear to lose money but that is just short term. She had created an experience that makes you want to come back and more often so you'll end up spending more in the long term.

I've been here twice. First time, I was told that I couldn't get a coffee as my beverage with a combo and that I should pay separately for the coffee I wanted, then take the soda that came with the combo and not drink it. What? I ordered some kind of Thai chicken sandwich. Cold, flavorless grilled chicken breast, sprouts, cream cheese, and teriyaki sauce. Really authentic. Second time, I just ordered a panini. The girl who took and prepared my order had a button identifying her as a trainee. It took her almost twenty minutes to make the panini. They were out of several basic ingredients and she had to grab her manager to ask what she should substitute...my only options were to accept her decision or order a completely different sandwich (and I pretty much ended up with a completely different sandwich.) When I took it to my table, it was an absolute mess, not cut all the way through, covered in cheese and sauce, ingredients falling out. I didn't have time for her to remake it again, so I took it back to the manager and asked for a refund. She tried to argue with me by saying that the employee is new. So I should accept that my sandwich is going to be terrible? I insisted, and she refunded me cash on a debit card purchase, acting like I was asking the world of her. Stay far, far away.

I work right next door to this location and find that they always have a steady stream of customers and often times it takes you longer to get through the line than it does to get your food. The staff are always very friendly and get your order right the first time but you will be rushed - so have an idea of what you want before you jump in that line! The location is always clean and the menu has fun, fresh items that are to die for... especially their Chicken Spetzel soup! Typically I get their pick two with a turkey sandwich, soup and then grab a mini-rasberry danish on the way out and after adding a water it always comes to about $10.00

Nice location for a Bruegger's. Ordering at Bruegger's is always kind of a pain due to the multitude of toppings options. There seemed to be 15 employees in here when I stopped in but hardly any customers. Many employees were talking among themselves, which is kind of a turnoff. The guy behind the counter seemed a little perturbed. He made my sandwich well enough but didn't seem happy to be there. I like their trio combo meal, which is affordable. You can get a bagel sandwich, soup and a soda for $7-something. Not bad. It'd be nice if the atmosphere was a little more welcoming though. I don't really get why they need so many people standing around. They should at least be in the back, out of view.

I stopped in around lunchtime last Friday and was very impressed! There was a decent lunch crowd, but the line was serviced quickly. I ordered the Herby Turkey on a pumpkin bagel and it was great! What stood out, though, was how every worker I interacted with was extremely welcoming. As the woman made my bagel sandwich, she even made conversation with me about my day and what I was doing in Minneapolis. Even if they are instructed to do this, I always admire a place that cares enough to serve its customers in such a friendly way!

Not about the bagels. On a recent downtown stay I popped into this Bruegger's for soda and a water at about 9:30 Sunday am. When I walked in there were three people working behind the counter, and three people being helped. Since I was not interested in a bagel I moved over to the water cooler, then to the register. By that time two people had finished getting their bagels and were in line to pay, except there was no one working the register. Everyone was still helping at the bagel station. OK, at this point there are five people in line and no cashier. By now we are about 4 minutes in. The girl behind me starts eating here bagel. There is someone working in the register area but doing something else. I ask "Is there someone to work the register"? I get one moment please. I wanted to leave my stuff there and walk out, but there was nothing else close. Getting a soda and water should not take 7-8 minutes. I will avoid that place from now on.

A decent breakfast bagel, served at a glacial pace by a staff that seems they'd rather be anywhere else but here. Good fresh OJ. If the staff could shake a leg, they'd earn another star.

Went to Bruegger's the other day for my favorite Herby Turkey. Thought I would also try their soup - after debating over the broccoli cheese & white chicken chili, I decided to go with the chili. Now, I expected my chili to be thick and flavorful, but this was so watery and honestly looked like swamp water. It didn't taste much better. I am only giving them 2 stars because I still love the Herby Turkey, otherwise I would have only given one star. I should have went with the broccoli cheese instead. You can't go wrong with that, right?
