When I think of 4 Seasons, I think of two things, broasted chicken and root beer. Both are delicious and tasty! Call ahead on the chicken or you may have to wait a bit if you're looking for take out. I always rush it home and get it out of the box so that it can maintain that great crunch that I like. A little salt and you've got yourself a great substitution for fried chicken I say! Not greasy but super crunchy. The root beer is delicious too. Stop by the store and get a good vanilla gelato and make a delicious root beer float to end the meal. The restaurant itself could use a little updating and a good cleaning I think but I guess you could describe it best as a diner feel. So why 2 and not 3 stars you might ask, well service the last time I was there was a little off putting to me. I drew a blank on the chicken deals for some reason and when I asked to see the menu, I think the waitress was offended which is strange as I am sure not everyone memorizes restaurant menus.

What an awesome place right in Mahtomedi. It's a classic dinner close to home. The food was a solid 4 stars. I did a chicken dinner with their homemade onion rings. The rings were notably better than most that I've had at other places. The chicken was classic broasted. The service was very friendly. The reason to go to this place though is for the atmosphere and the root beer. They make it themselves.

Is so nice to be greeted by such friendly staff. The food is always excellent. Breakfasts are hearty whether you order pancakes, French toast or eggs. We often go for a nice dinner. Excellent soups, sandwiches and burgers. Their dinner specials are just that! Special. Quick summary...great service, wonderful food.

My family has been going for years! We would take our boat across the lake (White Bear), anchor it, then hoof it to the restaurant, and bring back a bunch of awesome food to the boat. We always ordered: - The "Lem" burger: Like a Cali burger, but with this amazing special sauce. - Homemade root beer, which you can buy by the gallon! The best root beer in existence. - Banana cream pie: Homemade and divine. - Broasted chicken. Pretty good, not great, but tasty. To sum up: The root beer makes this place worthy of 4 stars. Seriously good stuff.

From what I understand this place has been serving great food for around 100 years. It has survived the coming and going of streetcars and an amusement park across the street. McDonald's has only been in existence since 1955. Think about how good this standalone restaurant has to be to that long. I had the smoked turkey with the a Santa Fe spiced Hollandaise sauce and two eggs over hard with a side of hashbrowns. The hashbrowns alone were unlike anything I had before since they were actually fresh and not pulled out of a cardboard box to thaw that morning. This alone was quite a refreshing touch. The rest of the plate was as good of a breakfast as you will find anywhere. Despite the history and nostalgia of the place they remain relevant and attractive because of their great service, fresh ingredients and an offering of traditional yet intriguing menu offerings. Despite your loyalty to a favorite breakfast mainstay you will probably find it hard to choose from three or four menu items. Enjoy and come back!

Ok, so I had food from here for the first time in 7 years today. *Disclaimer* not only were the previous owners family(Chris that used to own it is my cousin) but I worked as a waitress, then cake baker for over a year back in '07/'08. The food is NOT the same! Granted I only ordered a club w/fries and a side of coleslaw, so I can't comment on anything else, but the coleslaw has been a HUGE staple in our family's food businesses (behind the root beer and broasted chicken). I do not know what they have done, but it is not even remotely close to what I remember. Maybe it was a bad batch?? But still... I did ironically notice 2 days ago that they changed their food supplier- they used to use Sysco... The fries had no seasoning on them, which is what makes the fries amazing there. At least they still use the same cut of fries... For $16 and change(yes, you heard that right, for a friggen club sandwich, fries, and side of coleslaw- RIDICULOUS), I would expect a hell of a lot better then what I got. The new owner needs to step up his game...

Used to visit this place often in the 90s when it was still a drive-in and only open 3 seasons. Now they've removed the drive-in stalls and made a big parking lot. Visited for the first time in more than a decade recently and was not impressed by the service, food, or prices. The service was slow but friendly. The burger patties seemed as though they had just been thawed from a frozen pack. The side salad was very sad. To top it off, the prices are very inflated. Their homemade root beer is fairly decent (better than A&W but not as good as Sprecher's or Frostie's). I would only go back for the sake of nostalgia.

Very tasty breakfast and nice service as well. The cinnamon swirl French toast should be illegal, it's so good. The biscuits and gravy are not "traditional", but the rosemary and chopped ham mixed with the sausage was delicious. Having lived in Kentucky for 4 years, I would put this biscuit and gravy dish in my top 5 dishes of all time. The wife had a veggie egg dish, and the veggies were perfectly done, nothing was overdone, this is hard to do right when combining squash and bell peppers.

I've been coming here for years...as often as I can when visiting the Twin Cities area. It's always spotless, the staff is friendly and the owner/manager (Chris) is a great and dedicated guy. They add new things to the menu but their "classics" are terrific...the place is a whole lot more than root beer to be sure. My advice: Bring the family, friends or business partners for an enjoyable meal.

3 Seasons no longer exists. It's called 4 Seasons now. As you correctly guessed, the change came about when they decided to open yearlong. 4 Seasons has been around since my parents were in high school, back when it was a classic drive-in with the girls on rollerskates bringing burgers and fries up to your window. The menu hasn't changed, although now they include a rather tasty bison burger. The food is mediocre--nothing awe-inspiring, but certainly adequate. The only reason to come to 4 Seasons is for the delicious root beer. They brew the root beer in mass quanities--so much you can even go there just to pick up a few gallons without sitting down and drinking it with a meal. If you do choose to eat a burger with your root beer, they don't stiff you with a single glass and then charge for refills. No, not at all. They keep the root beer coming without anyone asking for more. The waitresses are notoriously generous with the refills, and no extra cost is added to the bill. The root beer itself is smoky with notes of caramel, vanilla, and brown sugar. The quality is remarkable. I'm positive it must come from a decades old recipe locked away in the owner's safe. It's without doubt the best root beer I've ever tasted--although I wouldn't call myself an expect. (Is anyone a root beer expert?) All I know is that it's damn good stuff. And I'm not one to liberally splash superlatives into my reviews.

Known for their fried chicken and their homemade root beer, their breakfasts are also very good!

Good for a local folk like me. The food is on the better side. They make their own a root beer. The atmosphere is old fashioned. Good spot for small groups.

It took a while to get back, but we made it. Chicken is still absolutely fantastic. Straight from the fryer to the plate. Crispy, well seasoned, very tasty. One difference I noticed this time was that the potatoes were real and not instant. A huge upgrade. However, they were not particularly mashed well or seasoned well. Huge big chunks of potato throughout. Oh well, maybe a bit lazy on the part of the cook but I'll take real over instant any day. Service still a little lackluster but overall not bad. The real root beer is awesome. Atmosphere is nothing to write home about. The fluorescent lighting needs to be switched out. The rating really comes down to the food, and the chicken itself is well worth the 4 stars. Don't travel across the city for it, but if you're in the area, give it a try.

Its my understanding that everything down to the root beer at this place is homemade. So I'm on my holiday visit and I get this bizarre craving for fried chicken ... I say bizarre because I probably eat fried chicken about once every 5 years, maybe. My mom takes me to this place and says, "they do a broasted chicken ... don't worry, you won't know the difference" and I can't even be offended because the truth is, I still don't know the difference nor do I care. chicken, good. The point is that this place was so good, I have every intention of repeating my bizarre chicken craving upon each future visit.

A cheese and frozen-vegetable sandwich actually made me ill. How does that happen? I literally gawked at the price of said sandwich. At least there was entertainment- a very petty spat between waitress and food plater. I want my money back!

Just recently went to Four Seasons and absolutely loved it!!!! Their root beer is unbelievable, and our broasted chicken was the best we have ever had. Also the homemade onion rings were phenonemal! Will definitely return, even though we live in St. Paul. It's worth the drive.

Yes, everything is homemade here, and I think you can still get a gallon jug of homemade root beer to go. I used to eat here every week (20 years ago) , when you could get a 1/4 chicken basket with fries, texas toast and some of the best coleslaw I've had.for 3.00 and change, pretty good deal considering the food is so good. The price for the same 1/4 chicken basket is over 9.00 now, but there are frequent specials, which are a pretty good deal . I like the place, it used to be one of the few existing true drive in restaurants left around the cities. I would consider eating here every week if my income had doubled, but alas, it has not. Guess i'm getting old. As of May 2010, a patio has replaced the "old School" drive in (can't sit in your car, push a button on an outdoor menu and have a "car hop" bring food to your car on a tray that sat on your rolled down car window) . The patio looks nice, but it seems a shame to loose this little bit of history. Change isn't always better. The restaurant name has changed from "Three seasons" to "Four seasons". Great homemade root beer.
