Stopped by this place on a road trip with my husband. We honestly weren't expecting much by the look of it, but we really enjoyed ourselves! We sat at the bar and ordered the Minnesotan Apple blueberry wine (super yummy and sweet) and I had the bluestem burger which was awesome! Cooked perfectly and the caramelized onions and egg made for one of the best burgers! Atmosphere was casual, seemed like other patrons were friends meeting up after sporting events. Definitely recommend this place!

Lovely atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but she was so friendly! I had the bison meatloaf and it was good! The portion was huge! I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and the succotash! I wish they would have brought out bread. Overall good experience.

Have had great meals here before.....not this time. Very disappointed. I ordered the skewered shrimp and coconut shrimp dish with loaded baked potato. The skewered shrimp were so salty I could not eat them. The loaded potato was an over held, foil wrapped potato with cold cheese and bacon bits on the side. I ate at the most a quarter of the meal.

Went with the family on a Saturday night. Met some others for a total of 11. The kids had the usual "kids meals" with few a complaints. One being the pasta with red sauce. Dry and needed more sauce. I ordered the bone in ham with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Ham was good with a nice honey mustard glaze. The broccoli was rather undercooked though. Wife order some sun dried tomato pasta with chicken. Pasta was good but the sauce was pretty plain. Chicken was very flavorless and just kinda there. Was hoping for so much more. Server was polite but very busy. Tried to stop her a few times for table needs but was passed by. Maybe another on a Saturday night would be good.

I'm from oklahoma and Texas and this is one of the best steaks I have ever had. Who in the world gave this place 1 star? It's pretty slow to get your dinner but well worth it.

Four of us just had a splendid meal. Lots of choice, excellent preparation and very good prices. Steaks, chicken, bison, pork with plenty of vegetables. Nice wine list also.

The dictionary defines the word 'Awesome' as being "extremely impressive or daunting, to cause great admiration" that being said, this restaurant is nothing short of awesome. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance! Inside the restaurant you'll find an enjoyable atmosphere, mouthwatering meals and very caring staff. I've eaten here many times and I've never been disappointed. Very good service, great management, and the best food in the area. Not much else to say!

I wasn't sure about this place since it's right off the highway, but as soon as we got to the parking lot, I had a good feeling about this place. The place was packed! We were a party of 6, so there was a small wait - quoted a half hour, but probably seated in 20-25. In the meantime, we went over to the bar and had a few beers from their excellent bottle and draft list. The kicker for me was that 4 tall drafts and 1 short came to $18.50 with tax included! Coming from Washington, DC, that was unheard of - you'd be lucky to get two beers for that price in some places. All of the drafts were cold and tasty. When we were seated, we decided to have parmesan arancini and stuffed mushrooms to start. I believe the orders of arancini were normally 5, but the waitress had the kitchen make 6 so everyone could have one, which was nice. Both appetizers were very good, with a nice crunch on the arancini and a soft sweet cream cheese in the mushrooms (i'm used to all stuffing, so it was a nice change). For dinner, I had the pork tenderloin with succotash. The pork was cooked well, and cut up in several strips across a heaping mound of delicious succotash. Others had the pan seared walleye (the star of the show, in my opinion), fish and chips, and the shrimp and corn risotto. Everyone was very pleased with their meal, but full, so there was no dessert. Service was pleasant and not overbearing - just often enough to refill the water and make sure we were still satisfied. Overall, a solid dining location with good food and a strong (and cheap!) beer list.

As a frequent traveler, known foodie and restaurant critic by my friends, I am always on the hunt for unique, local places to dine. Well, I found one last night at the Bluestem! What we found was a down home style place, a happy and full house and great service. We all ordered the daily special, ($1 per ounce rib steak) which came with Parmesan oven roasted potatoes that were great, crisp outside and moist inside, a nice side of asparagus and in our case, $16 worth of rib steak! The steak was hot off the grill, juicy and oh so flavorful! Asparagus was perfect as well. We also each had a cocktail, which was served tall with a generous pour and at $4.50 was a great value as well. Long story short, well worth the 18 mile drive I made from Brandon , SD to get there. I and my customers will be back here again soon!

Was quoted for a wait time of 30-40 min but was seated after 15-20 min. Server brought the wrong soup out but was quickly fixed. Au jus sauce was forgotton for my food as well but was quickly brought out as well. Once we got our food, it was very good. Would stop again.

So so sad. Our table of five ordered rib eyes all around. They don't offer baked potatoes as a side, but three different kinds of fried potato instead. The good part was that the steaks, the side salads, and the asparagus were really fresh and had great taste. The bad part is that the service could not have been worse. The server double checked our orders twice over the course of the first half hour, then proceeded to bring out plates that didn't match the orders. An assistant server even lied to our faces, first calling a steak a 12 oz and then claiming it was a 14 oz. It was obvious that it wasn't a 14 oz, so we sent it back. It then came back out with the the original server, who asked us to take it with a promise of a free dessert. We agreed just so everyone could eat together. When it was time for the checks, only one check was right. We ended up being in there over 2 hours! Too bad.
