Every single detail of The Inn at Sacred Clay Farm appears to have been considered - from the layout of the inn to the fresh-from-the-garden items served at breakfast. This is not the typical stuffy, tiny, antique store feeling bed and breakfast. The home is open, airy, and pieced together by beautiful wooden beams. There are endless spots to sit and enjoy both indoors and outdoors. Inside there are fireplaces, game tables, private reading rooms, and over-stuffed couches. Outside there is a sw ing and seating on the wrap-around deck, plus tables nestled inside a vine-covered patio/garden area -- all of which overlook their beautiful gardens, farmland, and bluffs. They have a small hiking path/trail on the property that leads you up through the hills and trees as well as around their farm land. The breakfast prepared by owners Sandy & Fred is reason enough to stay here. The first morning was started with fresh melon & peaches covered in a coconut & cream glaze, followed by an egg bake which fresh garden vegetables, a from-scratch ginger & cinnamon scone, and steamed broccoli with bearnaise. Morning two started with strawberry rhubarb crisp topped with fresh whipped cream, followed by a praline & peaches covered baked french toast, sausage (raised specifically for the farm), and finished with a scoop of homemade raspberry sorbet. Both meals included bottomless cups of delicious coffee (or tea if you're not as addicted to caffeine as I.) All of the food was so fresh (and I believe all organic and local), delicious, and better than any restaurant brunch you can find (and I'm a huge brunch lover). We stayed in their "loft" room, situated alone at the top of the house. I can't speak for the other rooms, but I am sure they are all put together with the same care and thought as we found in the loft. The loft truly makes you feel as if you're alone in the house, with an in-room jacuzzi tub and large, private bathroom. The room was sunny, cozy, and has a fireplace that would be perfect for fall/winter getaways. The owners are gracious and welcoming and happy to point you to fun activities in and around Lanesboro. Their care for the inn and their guests experience is evident at all times. This was our first stay in Lanesboro, and while we did love the town and all of the activities available, the very best part of our trip was certainly The Inn at Sacred Clay Farm. We didn't leave without pre-booking another weekend in the Fall. It's just too wonderful not to want to come back
