For these prices, it's two strikes and you're out. We went to the one in Little Canada and agreed that it was a bit overpriced, even with our coupon. My husband's steak was overdone, and my grilled salmon was slightly dry. We were a bit surprised that the food was not amazing, given the prices and the fact I had to book a table at the Little Canada location a week in advance. Since we got on the Bread Card rewards program at the sister business Chianti Grill, we got birthday coupons and decided to try the Lakeville Porterhouse location. The restaurant was not as crowded, and that was a plus, but the food still had some serious misses. My husband ordered the lamb rack special "medium rare," but it was basically seared and raw inside. The meat was not cold in the center, but my husband ended up taking most of it home to be reheated later. I ordered the parmesan-encrusted salmon. It reminded me of the salmon I had at the Little Canada location. the edges were cooked just right, but the center was increasingly dry. The sauces were nice, but not amazing. I ordered grilled asparagus as a side dish. Both the asparagus and the Caesar salad were solid, but not memorable. As a side note, I thought it was a bit odd that the table tents seemed to be advertisements for national brands of wine or whiskey. You see that in a dive bar, but not in a high-end restaurant. Or, maybe I only noticed just now. The highlight was the banana creme brulee dessert. It tasted like it was prepared ahead of time, including the sugar crust, and then simply refrigerated until serving. Still, the center was rich with a touch of banana, and the mint sprig was a nice touch. The service was fine, and the manager came over a couple of times to ask how things were. My husband's lamb rack was quite visibly raw in the center, and we didn't feel like bringing it up. My takeaway: I wouldn't expect such large misses on the cooking (medium rare vs. seared or overcooked) for entrees that range $27-37. It seems a lot of people like this place, but I think for that price we could probably do better at a non-chain restaurant.

We had a great experience @ Porterhouse with the Waitress, Alisha tonight. She has a great personality & an incredible appreciation to detail. She made us feel right at home! I had the Black & Blue which was delicious. This is my second time visiting my Friends in Lakeville & my second visit to Porterhouse. I look forward to many more!

I've stopped here 6 or 7 times now. I've always sat at the bar, so I can't speak to the table staff, but the bartenders are top notch. I fell in love with the tenderloin bites... they are very good! The scallops are also very good. They have 90 Shilling, my favorite beer (which goes great with red meat). It is a dark wood steak house. They seem to do a brisk business. The food has been consistantly good. A tad pricey, but worth it in my opinion. The people at the bar are always friendly with many regulars. I will have to sample more of the menu... if I can pull myself away from the bites ;)

Great steaks, scallops and server. My husband had a NY Strip Steak and I had the filet mignon and scallops. The filet was definitely better and my husband agreed. The scallops were also perfectly prepared. Steak temperature was very accurate. Will come back again.

Service here is always excellent. We're eaten in the main dining room as well as in the bar area. The steaks are very, very good here. I know this will flip you all out, but we like the steaks here more than Manny's! Can you believe? Waitstaff are very well rehearsed in the entrees, knowing how things are prepared and what's in what. Use their knowledge! Steaks are cooked perfectly to order. Love the sides. Really there was nothing we didn't like. It's a smallish place, so ressies are a good idea. The wait time can be REALLY long.

Wow this place as awesome. The decor was great and the staff realty knew what they were doing. Food was perfect. So much to say you just have to go to find out. I recommended this to anyone Just bring a pocket full of dollars.

I'm not sure what all the rave is about this place. Highly over rated in my opinion. There was a long wait last Saturday night but I don't mind waiting in a nice bar for a good meal. Too bad that's not how it turned out! Atmosphere: classy, warm, inviting with a cool dark decor. People there looked on the wealthier/yuppie side and tended to be rude. Think snooty country club. Bar: Sat at the bar and eventually decided to eat dinner there after we heard others complain they'd waited 90 minutes already. Again, waiting comes with a popular place with good food so I don't mean that as a complaint, just a fact. If you go on a weekend, you'd better make a reservation. Two overworked bartenders racing to make drinks for rich, sneering, petulant, and impatient customers at the bar while also making TONS of drinks for the restaurant. Um, since when is it the bartenders fault you are waiting for a table??? They could have kept 4 bartenders busy. That is not thier fault but definately stupidity on the part of management. I must say the martini I was served was outstanding. Bartenders did thier level best, despite horrible working conditions they remained calm, courteous and as responsive as time limitations allowed. Food: Unimpressive. Bread is served cold with tacky prepacked butter- blech. For the price of this place I expect warm bread with nicely presented butter. Dinner salad was ruined by the out of the large jar generic ranch dressing, probably from Sam's club. Gross. Scallop entree was actually ok, good half pound of nicely seared scallops which were fresh and well done but to be honest rather bland. Entree presentation was awesome but the taste...well Red Lobster's are more tastey. Never thought I would ever actually say that. WAAAAYYY over priced for quality of food. Will I go back? No Do I recommend? No

WAAAY over priced given the meal you get. Steak was average at best; and too large a piece. Made for two I'd say. Salad was mediocre, three thin sliced pieces of bread accompanied meal. Service was OK, but the whole package left us feeling like we'd likely not return. We often go to Twin Cities Grill at MOA, but thought we'd try this place. Took us placing reservations two weeks in advance just to get a table. Not thrilled by any means. We'll head back to the Grill.

Dinner here is the perfect place for a special occasion. The bar is also worth checking out if you are in the mood for a phenomenal cocktail or great glass of wine. The outdoor seating is perfect for couples or small groups. Friendly staff and capable service too!

I went to Porterhouse a few years ago and didn't think it was anything special. I was given a gift certificate as a gift, and had a family birthday so figured I would try it again. The good... Let me say one thing upfront....the food itself is excellent. The steak I received was great. I got a petit filet mignon along with the best tasting lobster tail I can remember in recent history. We had a reservation and were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. Parking is fine - no problems there. The "interesting"... Eggs in caesar salad? A little strange. The steaks were not consistent. We ordered three mediums. Mine was perfect. The other two were definitely much redder than the one I received. I know this can happen, but I actually had a rather large black spot/lump in my baked potato. Yes, this has happened to me at home (usually you can see it before you make it and can eat around it or cut it out). But for these prices I expect top quality. The bad... The prices are ridiculous. Although I did get a great meal, with a $50 gift certificate, for four of us it was $184 (that included the tip). Yes, to be honest, we did not skimp. Two adults enjoyed wine, one appetizer and two desserts. However, I do not expect a steak restaurant outside of downtown Minneapolis to be quite this high. I was not impressed by my server. She was fine. She did her job. But she was not overly friendly or pleasant (and for the prices, I expect more). The drinks were refilled, but we definitely were not looked in on very often and they did run out and we had to wait for the refills. Finally, the ambiance. It's loud in there. I commented on it to those in my party. It is a single open room and it does get loud in there. I went on a Saturday night...perhaps another evening would have been quieter? When I go to an establishment of this price, I expect a dining experience. Server, atmosphere, etc. The space is smallish though and there was little room behind chairs until you get to the chair of the person behind you. I found myself apparently in an aisle that was used as a walkway and people kept bumping me. So would I go back? Yes, I probably would. But just like last time, it will probably be a few years.

My wife and I love to go here for special occasions. The steaks are great and the price is fair considering the quality. The staff are friendly and helpful, they know the menue and are ready to make recommendations. It is nice to have a steak house of this quality in the area.

My wife and I went here for an early Valentine's Day celebration and we loved it! Both the service and the food were excellent. Our server Cheryl was great! We both got a filet mignon combo. I got the lobster tail and she got the smoked shrimp. The smoked shrimp were only okay, but everything else was great. The steaks were both cooked perfectly. We felt the quality of the food in addition to the great service made the meal worth the price. We also got $100 worth of gift cards for $80 at the Burnsville Costco which was a great deal!

Love the black n Bleu ribeye steak. I've had it 3 times and twice it was perfect. I don't eat seafood but my girlfriend has not been too impressed with multiple fish entrees. Get a steak and potatoes and you will enjoy. Oh, the bacon-vinaigrette dressing is the lowest cal and best tasting dressing.

Beautiful building, the dark interior decor was very tasteful. I liked the seating in the bar and that you had the option to hang up a jacket if you were planning to eat at Porterhouse. We got there a little early, so my man and I parked ourselves in the bar to have a cocktail before being seated. When we were seated, everything was going so smoothly. Our server was very polite and friendly. Prompt with our drinks... Then somewhere in between that and ordering things all of a sudden slowed down drastically. We noticed our server handling a large group and we felt like we were kind of being shoved aside. Which stinks when you are paying a pretty penny for your meal, you just want everything to go smooth! We finally put in an order for our appetizer and meal. Our appetizer came out fairly quickly, and we scarfed it down quickly. Then it felt like we were waiting for at least an hour before our food came. Somewhat disappointed because nobody stopped by to tell us things were a little behind schedule. It would've been nice to know this. The food finally came out after what seemed like forever... I had ordered a fillet and crab legs and it tasted great... However, the steak was cooked a little bit uneven. Some parts were done, and another part was medium (like I requested). The seafood was great, no complaints here! Maybe we would try this place again... Or maybe we would just go somewhere we know that we like better!

Best steak I have ever had - I did a steak and lobster combo with mashed potatoes. The food here is unbelievable - everything was so good. I have sat inside and out on the patio - which is what I would recommend. Get the bread card and you can get future birthday coupons and reward points.

There were 10 of us for a company dinner. The waitress was nice and helpful with the wine and food selection. Our water and drinks were always full. The menu selection was great. The only problem I had was when we arrived at 6:00 (dinner reservations were at 6:15) and wanted to have a drink in the bar before being seated, the hostess seemed abrupt and unpleasant as it seemed she wanted us to be seated in the dining room right away.
I wasn't excited to go to a steakhouse in Lakeville but my parents insisted. I was pleasantly surprised with the decor and ambiance. I am not a foodie. I'm a meat and potatoes guy. That being said, I typically don't enjoy steakhouses because they are over priced and pretentious. Not the case here. Our waitress Bonnie was very doting and down to earth. Our fodd was fantastic. We were even checked in by one of the managing partners Bob. Bob's MInnesota demeanor and care for his business will keep bringing people back. If you're a true Minnesotan, you will support this local pearl and eat at Porterhouse. Bravo all! Dave B. Kansas city, MO

I wish I could give this place one star. The app came to us cold instead of hot. The baked potato was cold in the middle and would not even melt the butter. The steak taste was great but the steaks were tough and fatty. A piece of cake was our reward for compliant about the cold app and potato. Oh, I will recommend the onion soup which was served semi-hot. Save your money or just try another place.

mmm was delicious. Great date spot and great service. I love when the manager is nice enough to walk around and ask people how much they love their NY steak and Alaskan crab...plus for you sir!!! My only small complaint was that the 40$ Alaskan crab was pretty small for Alaskan, and I was still hungry and had to eat all the bread on my table. But it was still really good crab ;) oh and the shrimp cocktail was great too!

Great steaks been here twice in three months. College farewell and anniversary...The Porterhouse selection is truly an awesome steak. Daughter loves the filet. Wife had the blue cheese covered ribeye the first time and it was too much wishes she would have had the sauce on the side. Last trip she had the NY Strip and loved it. Pricey but worth it. No need to go to Minneapolis for good beef anymore! Need reservations unless you don't mind waiting. Second visit we got a late reservation but showed up 1.5 hrs early get in sooner and we waited 1.5 hrs. Plan on it. We have three kids...hope the older two don't talk to the younger one!!

I was very pleased with the service and the ambiance, unfortunately the food was terrible and overpriced. I had the King Crab, which looked and tasted more like snow crab. It was terrible! My husband had the Porterhouse steak which was not a good prime steak that you would expect. I really wanted to like this place as there's not a lot of good restaurants in lakeville and this place wasn't an exception. If they improve the food it could be really good.

My wife was awesome enough to take me out here for my birthday dinner (mid 30'). Could not have been better! It was homecoming-(btw- did anyone else have parents that gave them a $30 per person dinner budget for homecoming??)- but we were determined not to let that bother us, and took a booth in the lounge instead. We had reservations and were told they were running about 10 minutes over. The hostess asked us to wait, and immediately offered to grab us a drink. They brought back a VERY healthy pour of Crown for me and Beefeater for the wife- On top of that- they offered to transfer the tab when we were seated. Since both of us were there to enjoy the steaks, we passed on any appetizers- and am so glad we did. I got the Blackened Rib-eye with bleu cheese and my wife ordered the Tenderloin imperial- with a lobster tail (who's birthday dinner was this??). One word to describe all the food; mouthwatering! Both our steaks were cooked to perfection, tender beyond belief, and we had a great Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet to go with it. The only down side was that I ate all mine and didn't have a midnight snack... For dessert, they were offering an apple pie a la mode' cocktail, complete with apple pie Dr. McGuillicuddy's, we both ate/ drank that as we let the ice cream melt. On top of that, it was a pleasant night out, with a fire pit to hang out in front of outside. The only draw back to the place- we live in Uptown, and this place is in Lakeville- but worth the pilgrimage!!!

We have eaten here a few times. Sometimes a wait even with reservations. In the past we have had tremendous service. The last time we were here, the service wasnt quite as good. She never brought us any bread with our salads or entrees. One of the steaks was overcooked and a little dry. She never stopped back after we started eating. Don't think you can EVER compare it to Mannys but we are glad to have a steak house close by.

I have been looking for a good place that is local to the south suburbs and Porterhouse Steak and Seafood is as good as it gets in this area. I had the steak starters and jumbo prawns, and it was delish! I was very pleased with the service, food and setting. The Porterhouse is not casual and has a more upscale feel to it. Do NOT bring ur kids here. Its not that kind of place. Prices for what you get I felt were fare. For 2 people, 2 drinks, 1 glass of wine, 1 starter, 2 entry meals it was $80 after tipping 18%. The only bad to my experience was that their desert menu too small. All they offered was cake slices that were the size of a cake. The deserts were more like meals and much too large. This turned me away from having any.

28 day old dry aged steaks are their claim to fame. Great service, great food, this is a good place to go for an event dinner. Reservations are mandatory, as there is a very small bar to sit in and wait for a table if they are busy and it won't be much fun for you. Good combo plates of seafood and steak. OK wine list.

Great Classic Steakhouse. A little bit of a hike for me to frequent often but fun to meet up with some friends and share a couple bottles of wine. The meat here is top notch and they cook it perfectly to your liking. The "sides" are limited but GREAT.

I like to get to the meat and potatoes of the matter. This is a pricey steakhouse. They have a good selection and offer add-ons which enabled my wife and I to split the main course. I ordered the ribeye med-rare plus. At better steak houses this gives me a juicey steak that is just short med. Here my steak came out over cooked on one side and rare on the other, plus the steak was not hot. I would also say that their ribeye is not the highest quality. For this reason, I say "I've had better". We will be trying it again and will try a different steak. Called for a 5:30 reservation and they couldn't make one, but did say there were a lot of tables open. I asked if we were there in 15 minutes, what are our chances? They would not make any kind of commitment. When we got there we did have to wait, but found a place at the bar and enjoyed the bartenders company and met a nice couple that really enjoyed the place. As for the host I would say she could use a little training on greeting and making your guestd feel welcome. We were seated in about 20 minutes in a nice booth by the bar. Waitress was very nice.

We put off going to this restaurant due to a review from our daughter. She said " high prices for average food". We did visit recently and don't know if we will go back, and not sure why not. The service was a little over attentive, to the point where it was more interruptive then attentive. The prices were on the high side for the quality of food. We have been to Rudy's Red Eye Grill next door and had same quality for alot less. The ambiance is nice and upscale, just what you would expect from a nice steakhouse. And the owner did stop by our table as in other reviews. I guess just not our cup of tea.

Fabulous food and friendly, personal service. Owner/partner Bob stopped by the table to ensure our meal met expectations and chatted for awhile. It's wonderful to dine in an establishment where the owner is involved and cares about his patrons' experience. Our server Bonnie did a great job of ensuring all our needs were met throughout the evening. I would definitely dine here again, and probably will next time we're up to the cities.

This restaurant is an excellent dining experience in a moderate price range. Their best offering is their steaks. The filet I had was very good. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and friendly. The service was outstanding, much better than average for this price range.

After wondering about this place for the last year, we finally gave it a try and I wish we hadn't. The drinks and apps were okay, probably the best part of the meal honestly. We ordered lobster tail and scallops with bacon ranch mashed potatoes and broccoli. The lobster lacked flavored and was over cooked, I didn't even finish mine. The scallops were cooked perfectly but saturated in balsamic glaze and over salted. The potatoes were good but heavy and I was disappointed they didn't have more of a side selection. The broccoli was steamed perfectly but also a little bland. The service was good and the ambiance was nice but I won't be back, the quality of food was not worth the price.

Live just down the street from Porterhouse and came here for an anniversary dinner with my hubby. We had reservations and were seated right away. Server was very attentive and quick. I ordered a petite filet and prawns. Hubby had filet with shrimp. Came with potato and salad. We also had bread. Everything was pretty tasty except our steaks were just a bit undercooked. Food overall was also a bit high on the salt content. One nice thing was they gave a large piece of cake because of the anniversary. Overall good dinner with classy ambiance.

My husband and I love Porterhouse, and usually go about once a month. He is a big steak person and just always raves about perfect they are. I usually get the scallops (cooked perfectly!) fish. I am absolutely obsessed with their cajan walleye strips appetizer. The servers are top notch, so friendly and personable, and usually 30+ years old. They are well educated on the dishes and always make great recommendations. We know several by name we go so often. When you order a martini they leave the shaker at the table for you, and you usually get a full second martini out of it! Their deserts are delicious and extremely large! The giant 'slice' of cake is more like an entire their of cake that could feed 10 ppl. They always ask if you are celebrating anything, and whether it be an anniversary, birthday, or new job they bring out the giant cake in the house. I highly recommend calling ahead for a reservation!

Lately, I've noticed inconsistency with the food here. A few weeks ago, I had the filet and it was the most beautiful cut prepared perfectly. The following weekend, I ordered the same exact thing and added on "a half pound of seared scallops." My filet was grossly over cooked and by a half-pound of scallops, they really meant (3) small scallops seared and slathered with balsamic vinegar. I actually asked if they gave me the correct dish. It was terrible and laughable at the same time. Crab cakes one week and full of crab and tasty, two weeks later they're soggy and bready. It is pretty disappointing.

Consistently incredible steak but I also love the salmon and tuna appetizer. The Martinis are second to none. And this pl ace is an incredible value. It's not much more than Outback but quality is 10 times better. Make a reservation.

This was a great experience. We started with martinis in the bar well waiting a short bit for a table. The bartender was friendly and knowledgable. Dinner was fabulous! Our server was top notch, explained the wines and menu to a t. I had the filet which melted in my mouth. My husband had the rib eye flavors were perfect. My only complaint is the steaks came out too fast we didn't have time to finish our salads. I felt rushed slightly.

New Years Eve '13 was our fourth NYE dinner at Porterhouse. Which says a lot of what my wife thinks of the place. But that might have been our last NYE visit. We were seated a half-hour after our reservation. I was willing to overlook that. There was nowhere to sit while waiting that half-hour. Which, believe it or not, would have been 'water under the bridge' as well. Our problem? Was named 'Server 29,' as she declined to identify herself on the check. My wife recalls her name as Amy. I wouldn't even be terribly put out by the fact that--apparently--Amy's buddies/family friends sat in the booth behind us. Had our server asked them to stand a bit farther from me during their loud ha-ha 'Does your mom still have our phone number?' conversation, it would have been nice. Perhaps I wouldn't have been sleeve-whipped with their coats while chewing, too. But for the sake of argument? Let's pretend that didn't happen. Here's the issue: If you don't order alcohol, Amy has a problem with you. When I finished my comped soda (as I mentioned, there ARE nice folk up front) and asked for a different, non-alcoholic beverage? Amy opened our check in front of us, paused for a five-count, snapped it shut, whipped the wine glasses from our table and from THAT MOMENT? Treated us as if we sat at the kid's table. Cracking pepper over salads became an eye-rolling chore. We had to ask for items 2-3 times each. I don't spend $100 for two sans alcohol for that treatment. I don't $70 for that. Haven't had to. And won't. We've been there enough to know the restaurant--as a whole--is better than that. But Server 29 isn't. Perhaps they should delete that number from their system.

Best steak I've ever had. Worth the $$$ I love my steak med-rare closer to rare. I've actually never had my steak come how I ordered it until I came here. Every place over-cooks it. I got a vodka martini! Best martini I've ever had and for $9 I got the whole shaker which had at least 3 glasses in it. I ordered the petite Filet and garlic mash potatoes. Soooo Good. We also had the scallops; which were meh. I wouldn't order them again. Yes this place is pricey but hey if you want to spoil yourself one night with amazing food and service this is the place to go. We are going back soon for our anniversary.

I never thought I would give 5 stars but I have nothing to complain about! The steaks were great cuts that were perfectly cooked, a petite filet for me and the porterhouse for my husband! The sides were plenty and delicious but they change them regularly. We even got a complementary dessert for our anniversary! The staff was awesome with the manager even stopping when he thought my husband was unhappy with the doneness of his steak, offering to fix it immediately! We will return as part of their bread club even though it's a bit of a drive! Well done Porterhouse staff!!

(5)Adam J.
Great food, service, and atmosphere! If you haven't been, please go, you won't be disappointed!
(5)Michael B.

No
(2)Dan P.

I am always amazed everytime I visit how tremedous the service is!! My husband and I visit often for the atmospher, great food, and fabulous service

(5)Karl W.

(4)Rachael L.
Best steak I have ever had - I did a steak and lobster combo with mashed potatoes. The food here is unbelievable - everything was so good. I have sat inside and out on the patio - which is what I would recommend. Get the bread card and you can get future birthday coupons and reward points.
(4)Bridgette H.
Great service, even better food. Ask for Ericka. :)
(5)Sarah S.
(4)Greg W.
Fabulous! Filet mignon, marlin entrée, spinach salad, French onion, clam chowder. All amazing! Finished with creme brûlée and white cake. Food was great and service was even better! Stephanie was the best! We will be back! Pricey but worth every penny!

(1)Jenna G.
mmm was delicious.

(5)Josh B.
Great service and excellent food. Period. I have dined here more times than I can remember and there is a reason for that. Treat yourself to Porterhouse Lakeville and you won't be disappointed.
(5)Jada M.

(4)Tina D.
Yummy! Beautiful restaurant for special occasions or any. The food was fabulous! The service, even better! It's a long drive and worth it! Listen to your server for recommendations and enjoy!
(5)Jenna H.
Great food and service. Make a reservation if possible for there is a small bar area and long wait time on the weekends. Tip: the tuna is great!!!
(5)Danger H.
(4)Scott H.
One if my favorites, worth every penny.
(5)Brandon Y.
Great Classic Steakhouse. A little bit of a hike for me to frequent often but fun to meet up with some friends and share a couple bottles of wine. The meat here is top notch and they cook it perfectly to your liking. The "sides" are limited but GREAT.
(4)Jeff L.
(2)Ben D.
Food and service were excellent. Very expensive, however. Definitely not leaving spending less than $50 for two people. Worth it, however. Filet Mignon was delicious.

(3)Beth B.
(5)Larry O.
This restaurant is an excellent dining experience in a moderate price range. Their best offering is their steaks. The filet I had was very good. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and friendly. The service was outstanding, much better than average for this price range.
(4)Alanna P.
(2)Amanda G.
(4)Katherine M.
(5)Rebekah W.
(3)Lisa S.
Consistently incredible steak but I also love the salmon and tuna appetizer. The Martinis are second to none. And this pl ace is an incredible value. It's not much more than Outback but quality is 10 times better. Make a reservation.
(5)Kim T.
(4)Davenport E.
I go here every 6 months ago. Solid. Recommend . Need reservation. Rib eye is extremely good.m

(2)Kristine O.
(5)Melissa S.
(5)Bob D.
Classic steak house experience. The wait staff was very good and the food was excellent.
