Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Awesome hole in the wall. Clean, simple, fresh and always delicious. Order at the counter. Menu on the wall with pictures. I've tried most items on the menu but keep coming back to the carnitas torta. the bread is the perfect combo of crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Tasty cubes of roast pork, avocado, sour cream, onion, tomato, jalapeños and lettuce. Truly a perfect sandwich. Great fries too.

What this place lacks in decor in makes up 10 fold in food. The food was do fresh and delicious. If your s local you must support this place.

Delicious food and nice people! Loved their tamale a and enchiladas salsa verde. Fresh and authentic, no chain restaraunt stale boring food at Nachos.

This place is a hidden gem. The food tastes like home cooking, probably because they cook it right in front of you. I have eaten here on several occasions and it is always excellent. If you are looking for glitz and glamour this is not your place, but if you want to eat out of this world fresh, homemade Mexican food then this is the finest. The food is delicious, the portions are large, the prices are good, the dining room is clean, the employees are friendly and appreciative, what more can I say.

Been meaning to review this place for a couple of years. This little place caught me by surprise while cutting down the 11th Avenue alley one day. Nacho's is fast, authentic Mexican street fare that really puts a number of other spots to shame. Besides the delectable food, it's the friendly service and great prices that keep me coming back. Enchiladas are Jimmy Walker good. DYNO-MITE! Green chile sauce is delectable. Burritos are rather large and rather tasty. Rice has the right amount of spice. My one drawback is the beans, as they are a little bland for my taste, but they don't ruin the meal by any means. Bummed they aren't open on Sundays anymore - it was a perfect halftime or postgame stop during football season.

This place is a little gem! Authentic, fresh, simple, cheap, and delicious mexican food. The people are extremely nice. I had the shrimp tacos, but I also saw tripe on the menu which excites me. I will definitely try that next time! Even though the place may seem a little hole in the wall, it's clean and enjoyable to be in. Will come again!

This is a pretty simple and straightforward joint. No TVs and not much decor to speak of. Basically, it's like every other authentic and delicious Mexican joint. I usually judge a place like this by their pastor so I ordered four tacos: 2 carne asada, 2 al pastor. The carne asada was pretty decent. Mild spice and cooked properly. Their pastor was a little less flavorful than I was anticipating (based on reviews) but that's alright. Overall, it's not the best I've had but their food is simple, solid and a great value. I'd recommend it to a friend any day.

I've eaten here a number of times with people from work and really enjoy it. It's really straightforward Mexican, hearty and delicious. Kind of a surprise to find it just off Main Street Hopkins, but worth seeking out if you in the mood for a burrito.

Delicious, filling and inexpensive. Truly authentic Mexican cuisine. This replaces Chipotle in my book for a fast, fresh lunch.

Most authentic Mexican place that I have found since moving here from Long Beach, CA. Killer burritos, street tacos and tamales! Great prices.

Thank you Yelp! I was on my way to a boring fast food lunch at Wendy's when I decided to see what my options were and stumbled on Nachos. Don't let the name fool you, this place is great. I am originally from Arizona, and have missed the Taco Stands where you can just pull up and get fresh made food for a decent price. I went with a Carne Asada taco, a chicken taco, and an Al Pastor taco. All three were delicious and tough to beat for $6.00! I will be back here many many times.

Best authentic Mexican in Hopkins/Minnetonka area. Burritos and chicken taquitos are delicious. Rice and beans also great. Restaurant is small and old/rundown for sit down meal but just order at counter and take home. Yummy mom and pop shop!

Not very friendly. Food was just ok. Fresh guac was good, but rice and beans were average. Miscommunication with our order and they seemed annoyed with us.

I just had lunch at this unassuming "hole in the wall" restaurant for the first time. It was a pleasant surprise to find some good, honest Mexican food tucked away in Hopkins. For $5.99+tax, I ordered an el pastor (Mexican pulled pork) burrito, which came with a small side of tortilla chips and cup of salsa verde. The quality of the food is is good -- made fresh, and cooked to order. Other menu items included tamales, tortas, empanadas, enchilladas, and tacos. I'll have to go back and try a couple of other items to compare it to my expeiences in Mexico to determine its authenticity. Overall, in decor and style of food, it is similar to Pineda Tacos in Plymouth. What was left of the grocery store now appears to be relegated to a couple of shelves of snacks and bread, with a frozen ice cream case for some Mexican ice cream bars. There is a display case where you walk in which is populated with various sodas including different flavors of Jarritos and other fruit drinks. The oddest thing about eating here is the service. You first place your order at the counter. You then sit down, and your food is served to you. Finally, after your meal, you go back up to the register to pay. This seems a bit counterintuitive and a bit too easy for people to forget to pay. Otherwise, the restaurant is generally clean, wtih good food at reasonable prices. I'd definitely recommend Nacho's and go back again.Overall the style of cooking is reasonably authentic, but definitely NOT Tex-Mex.

Place is great!!!! Food is Amazing and great staff!!! Blows chipotle out of the water!!
(5)Hillary B.
Solid Mexican joint on Main. I was out here for work but am originally from Texas so I judge all Mexican pretty harsh. Solid spice, great flavors and quick service. Street tacos are amazing and the chips and fresh guac are solid too. Don't do Chipotle, try authentic if you're here.

Great street tacos!!!! Friendly! Great price! My husband and I are regulars! Try a chorizo Mexican burger ( una torta con carne de chorizo!). Yum!!!!
(5)Lesley G.
A really great quick lunch option, particularly if you don't want massive portions of most mexican restaurants. This place is like a deli counter, and they make some really tasty barbacoa. I just ordered a single taco for $2. Why eat more when you aren't too hungry?

This place was tough to find...but worth the effort. It's not on mainstreet, but rather half a block south on 10th ave. We went for dinner and had the place to ourselves. I had the shredded beef (Barbacoa) burrito and chips+guac. The portions were decent (especially the guac) and the price was pretty reasonable, but not super cheap (a little bit higher than chipotle, for reference). The best part was the quality and taste of the the burrito. Mine was cooked to order and very fresh. Much better than any chain Mexican restaurant, and equal or better than my usual standby, Pineda tacos. The chips were decent. I will be back soon! Negatives: bathroom was hidden away in the basement (and dirty), and limited drink selection (bottles only-no fountain drinks).

Great REAL Mexican food. Open until 8pm on weeknights which is great if you don't want the typical greasy American food the local watering holes provide.
(5)Kimi R.
Everyone should come here at least once to check out the amazing honest food they offer here at Nacho's. No need for fancy decor and storefront. You want to taste fantastic Mexican street food? You got it, it's all right here.

I eat lunch here often. Erica (the main chef) is a fantastic cook! She makes everything to order and remembers customer's preferences. Very reasonably priced and so very tasty!

This is a Hopkins hole in the wall. It's a very small mexican grocery store with a restaurant in it. I had their enchiladas and was surprised at the authenticity and the salsa verde they had available. The chicken was nicely seasoned and the beans/rice combo was great as a side. I'm really happy with their hot sauce selection, especially that they had habanero chile sauce! And for the price, definitely worth going back! Get it take out and head over to LTD Brewing for a pint!

Nachos is my new go to place for authentic Mexican cooking, scratch cooking or a light lunch or dinner. The menu includes Tacos, tamales, fajitas, quesadillas, flautas, burritos. And maybe a few other options. The decor is no frills but clean. Counter service with meals served on real plates and delivered by a smiling person. From what I can see there are a few Angels sharing their cooking gifts and making everything from scratch. If you're thinking Mexican, home made food, Hopkins - drive past Chipotle and give your business to Nachos. The place is a one of a kind in the area. That have earned my Business.

What a nice place! Clean, friendly, nice big windows, and of course good food at a reasonable price. They have interesting choices of soda and frozen treats! I'm definitely going there again. Enjoy! Dennis

Loved the enchiladas. Very well seasoned. Salsa was terrific. Ambiance is okay. Not typical American restaurant but typical Mexican mercado. Will definitely be back for the food.

Let me start by saying I have never once written a Yelp review. I love using Yelp to discover new places and have been relying on it heavily since moving to this area. That said, I feel 100% misled from the positive reviews for this place. There are even reviews on OTHER RESTAURANTS' profiles saying, "this is alright, but Nacho's is my first choice." How could I go wrong by trying this place out? WAY WRONG! What restaurant did you Yelpers dine at because surely it wasn't this one! My husband and I had a truly disappointing experience! For starters (because I did my research on Yelp), I knew going in that there wouldn't be much of an atmosphere. Fine - that doesn't usually deter me. My theory is that if the dining area offers little or nothing to the experience, surely the food is GREAT and that's what keeps people coming back. Nope, not the case here. It took approx. 25 minutes to get our meal, maybe longer but I don't want to exaggerate. Mind you, this is with probably 70% of the seating area EMPTY and one person waiting for a to-go order. Twenty-five minutes for QUESADILLAS that I could have made at home myself in five. Our chips and queso did not come to the table until 2 min. before our entrees. The queso was nothing more than YELLOW nacho cheese, no better than you would get at a baseball game. The chips were super thick and stale tasting. Our quesadillas (he ordered steak and I had chicken) were just about as flat as a pancake. Very little substance and hardly any protein whatsoever. It honestly reminded me of something you would order off the kids menu at a chain restaurant. For anyone that's thinking "oh boy, another silly girl with unrealistic, 'Americanized' taste in Mexican food" - that's not what this is about at all. I've had delicious, authentic food IN Mexico and the food at Nacho's pales in comparison, even to other American establishments. I look forward to trying some of the other highly rated places in the area and will forever be wary of my fellow Yelpers praising a place simply because it's a 'hole in the wall.' I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone could speak highly of this place for any other reason! Truly baffling.

I came in for an early lunch and found, finally, Mexican food I can recognize and appreciate in Minnesota. I got a asada taco and a pollo sope and both were delicious with fresh toppings. The pollo was simmered in a delicious red sauce so it wasn't just dry shredded chicken. The taco was street style and while the steak was a little fattier than I would like, was still tasty and cooked well, with fresh onions and cilantro. Both came on a plate (they're ordered à la carte) sprinkled with cotija cheese and a side of slightly spicy tomatillo salsa. I also had a glass-bottled Coke (from Mexico with real cane sugar!). Great lunch for just over $8. I can see becoming a regular here.

This place was a last minute decision for my husband and I on a Thursday night. The address is on Main Street, but is actually around the block and doesn't have an entrance on Main Street itself. I got a chicken tamale, salsa and chips with queso. Hubby got the beef burrito. The tamale was small, but for $2, a great value. The chips were delicious and fresh, but the queso wasn't what I hoped for given the quality of the other ingredients. Hubby loved his burrito which was extra stuffed.
