Sunday date night.... dollar off drinks... great walleye. Definitely good enough to go back and try something else have to menu. I had the chicken / rib special... don't recommend that. Very Boring ..,over cooked..icky sauce. Maybe try to steer away from the bar if you don't want to hear a lot of "f-in-heimers"...loud biker talk. Not to much else for seating though... outside had a lot of road noise. I should just give it to stars for the way I'm griping about it but I've been there in the past and it's been good. don't get the $7 Pino either.... gripe.....gripe...gripe...

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FOOD !! This review is only for the catering I experienced at a local community center for a wedding reception. Not the actual restaurant itself. But see the note at the end on that! This beautifully executed and totally delicious meal is what happens when a restaurant owner hires a PROFESSIONAL CHEF who is passionate about food. We were treated to a buffet line that was sharp and crisp with black and red linens. Happened to be the wedding party's colors too. The chafers were shining invitations of what was inside. OMG... my mouth actually started watering as I neared the beginning of the table. Of course, I did watch as the shining star of the buffet, a ginormas PRIME RIB ROAST was hoisted unto the carving station. I usually don't go into detail on the menu, but if you are contemplating choices for a reception...listen up: A choice of white or whole grain dinner rolls, with room temp butter packets Green salad with choice of dressings Seasoned Green Beans A medley of Steamed Carrots, Cauliflower, and some other veggies :-) Mashed Potatoes from Reds with some skins on Chicken Breasts(portion controlled sizes) in a Wine Mushroom Sauce AUGRATIN POTATOES AUGRATIN POTATOES AUGRATIN POTATOES Carved Prime Rib Horsesy Sauce Light (chicken?) Gravy There were probably a couple more ecroudements as well, but I hit the big items. The Chef and the bartender turned chef's helper and servers were on it and kept it all going. Spot on service. For around 100 ppl. Of course, nothing is perfect, there is always room for improvement. However, the only things I would have changed, and these are minor, would be 1. Warm the rolls up a little 2 .More milk in the mashed potatoes, they were a little stiff 3. Provide au jus for the beef, although it was such a superior quality of meat and so expertly prepared that the flavor stood on it's own. That said, I have been to the actual restaurant many years ago, maybe 5-6 times. I remember being in a car in the parking lot making out so I must have really enjoyed the bar. Hey, it is next to a trailer park. What can I say ????? O H H E L L Y E A H H E L L Y E A H

My Parents are snowbirds. They RV the South during the cold winter months, and are back up this way, to the friends & family they know & love. Spending 5 days with Alyssa R, their granddaughter, & I. We had the job of getting them back accustomed to the Midwestern ways. What would be better than an All-You-Can-Eat Friday Night Fish Fry to get them into the swing of things? I called ahead asking what time they serve it till & was told 10 PM. That's awesome. Right now, driving in, you will need to come from the back roads way. Prior Avenue. Highway 10 is closed & blocked off for the redevelopment phase of the old Arden Hills Army Base. We pulled in a little later, like 8, and it was easy to find a parking spot. When you walk in, you enter into a host stand area, with a game room just off to the left. To the right, you could enter into the bar area. A reader board told us of the specials they had that night, plus there was a BBQ Rib dinner special already plated up under a glass dome. It looked divine. No one was at the host stand, however, we were greeted less than a minute after we walked in, by our server who was just around the corner. She walked us into the restaurant to the back area where there was a big booth waiting for us all. The restaurant side of things was a ghost town, while the bar area had a little life. Amanda gave us menus and an idea of the tap beers they had. She rattled off at least 20. I went with a Black Butte Porter, as did my Dad. Alyssa R went with a gin & tonic. Mom, a Southern Comfort Old Fashioned Sweet with fruit. They have a nice menu, full of dinners, burgers, apps, everything a Supper Club should have. Prices seemed right. When Amanda came back with our drinks, she wondered if we were ready to place our order. We were. In all, 3 Fish Fry's & one opened faced Prime Rib Sandwich(Alyssa R.). We sip on our drinks and chitty chat about the trip, and before we know it, our dinners are here. Very quick. But, I guess when we are the only order for the cooks to make, that might help with the speed of things. In between our dinners arriving, Alyssa R got a side salad with her order. That salad was a thing of beauty. Fresh greens & toppings & plenty of them. First impressions of the Fish Fry. Looks good. Two full sized fillets of cornmeal breaded Alaskan Pollack, shoestring sized French fries, a slice of wheat toast brushed with garlic butter and sliced in half, a large plastic ramekin of coleslaw, small plastic ramekin of tartar, & a nice wedge of lemon. A little salt & pepper helped the fries out. They were hot & crispy. The coleslaw was old looking. Like it had been made much earlier and sat out getting mushy & crusty at the same time. The toast was alright. It was what it was. Garlic butter swiped wheat bread. The fish was done right. Steamy & flaky inside. Nice crust on the outside. A little bland, but alright. Cornmeal breading was unique for a Fish Fry, but it held up OK. With 20 beers on tap, I would recommend them switching to a beer batter, however, they are doing something different than what other Fish Fry's are doing with the breading they use. Service was out of this world great. I haven't been served this well in a LONG time. Amanda was enjoying her job, and it really showed. She showed great skills in her job. At one point, my Dad asked for more coleslaw. He misspoke, and wanted more tartar instead. She brought out the coleslaw, and he pointed out his mistake. She was so, "It's OK", that none of us felt like it was a bother. Some servers, you would have got the Atypical eye roll, or monotone answer. Not Amanda. We went to use a highchair at one point with our daughter. It was filthy dirty. Amanda was so sorry, and genuine with it. Gosh. I wish she could train 90% of the servers I get in life. Made us feel good in tipping her. She earned every red cent of that tip. With the 'rents picking up the tab, I'm not sure of the total bill. The AYCE Friday Night Fish Fry here costs $9.95. That price point is spot on. This was Alyssa R & I's third time here. All for the Fish Fry. We'll be back, but I think next time, it'll be for another Friday Night AYCE special they offer. Prime Rib! Yes. AYCE Prime Rib.

My wife and I stopped here on our way out of town for some food. We were greeted graciously by the bartender and ordered our beers and asked for a menu. After getting our beers and peering at our menu.......what happens you ask?......a freakin' cockroach as big as my pinky toe runs across our menu. We chugged our beers and left.

First impression: It is next to a trailer park. Second impression: Wow, the 80s called and want their bartenders and patrons back. Third impression: I'm HOME. (I'm from North Dakota...a lot of bar/restaurants look exactly like this). I had a living social coupon to use here, and when we pulled up, I thought I might regret this $15. Not the case, though. I'm just judgmental. Yes, it's not the type of place you bring a first date....but maybe, if he or she is not the "fancy" high maintenance type, you go on a 4th date...people watch, listen (or sing) bad karaoke, and eat really yummy food. The beer selection was just okay. The service was great--totally on the ball. The food---Well, my date loved his Reuben, and my burger was JUICY and cooked to a perfect medium-but-hot. Overall, don't judge the book by it's cover, and even if you do, it's got fantastic character. Order the waffle fries. Spend the extra dollar. They're amazzzziiinnng.

It's like stepping into the 90's. The grimy tiles, the silly glass alcove filled with booths, even the patio and pool area. Everything about this place is just SCREAMING to be updated, but part of me wonders if that would ruin the small town ambiance this has in the big suburbs. When you drive by this place, you probably wouldn't even give it a second glance. Mostly because you would be going by it at 55mph if you aren't speeding, but then it is surrounded by a trailer park and also some creepy looking old houses on a service road with really old cars parked on their front lawns. And while the neighborhood may appear destitute, it's just fun to me to hang out here! You can sing Karaeoke, hang out and drink, play pool, and the food here is really good to boot! It's not like you will get food quality on par with Fogo, but there's something really home-y about this menu and it's price point makes it affordable for any budget! Courtney, the bartender, is an absolute doll! And the owner was there talking with people and taking suggestions as it sounds like he will be doing a little bit of a facelift to the place coming up here!

Wednesday was open mike night and was there to see a group perform. It's a nice setting for this venue, as opposed to the VFW. Every night is some kind of theme and food special. Wed. it's 40 cent wings. Since I'm lousy at math, I ordered 10. The wings were kind of naked, just in oil on the plate. But they are tasty and have a good flavor and crunch. I also got a half a french dip, also on par. They give you one refill on a pop. I tried some of the potato salad and it had an odd sweetness, not the best. I think it's a true sports bar, not the upscale type. Plenty of parking on its own private space, parallel to the highway. They have karoke thurs-sat at 9:30. There was a waitress who bore an uncanny resemblance to a very young Linda Ronstadt. She didn't know who she was.

Big Ten was packed last night! The service was kind of slow meaning every time we asked the waitress for something it did seem to take forever to get there. The food was good, but the glasses of beer were small! ;) The comedy gallery there was OK. Out of all the acts only one was really good (Fancy Ray). We did win on pull tabs though so that is a good sign!

Wow this place is a dump! My wife and I tried this place with a Living Social deal, and I am glad that we didn't invest much money into it... I will not be coming back. It is very dirty and outdated inside. I saw dust everywhere, wires hanging from the ceiling, rips and tears in the booths/seats, filthy floors, and the place smells like a deep fryer. I had pizza, and it came out burnt and with not much cheese at all? My wife had a calzone and it was very doughy and bland? Service here is also BAD!!! The servers seemed very unhappy, and they definetly did not have much training at all. This is not a place you want to go to for good food/good service/or a good time! SKIP IT-

This is the bar where everyone knows your name; from the friendliest bartenders in town to the pull tab people. The Welsch family has run this club for many years. The Big Ten is about expectations. If there is an exact opposite of Red Stag Supper Club, that opposite is the Big Ten Supper Club in Arden Hills. Trendy can be found in the burbs, just not here. This place feels like a small town restaurant and bar you visit after hunting or fishing up north. Friendly, comfortable, and dated. The food is pretty good. Tonight we had fish fry and the fish was crispy and tasty. There are a lot of bad fish fry places, this place however knows how to make fish. The price was reasonable at 9.95 and it was all you can eat. Good thing too because he sides, toast, French fries, and some very average cold slaw left much to be desired. So we had more fish. Problem solved. The service was really good. They had a meat raffle (bonus). The fish was real good. The sides were below average. And they have a screened in smoking porch off the front of the place and the smell of 40 years of smokers greets you as you enter and as you leave. Cold beer, good food, expect this and you'll be satisfied eating here.

Another Lenten Friday, and another quest for Friday Fish. I'd heard Big Ten served great beer-battered cod, so my wife and I went by. The reports were true. Great battered fish: a panko breading style that hugged the fish and didn't leave you eating mouthfuls of extraneous, fish-less batter. Very tender, delicious entree. Oh, and we were very well-served by Christine who cheerfully fulfilled our every request.
