I grew up in Hastings, and that means I grew up eating donuts from Emily's Bakery and Deli. I went into the shop just this week to get donuts for friends helping me with some work at home, and wasn't disappointed with the delicious treats I took home with me, but it was the service that was a complete let down. The ladies behind the counter weren't friendly and we stood at the counter waiting for assistance when we were looked at, then walked away from, as if she had better things to do than help us. It was frustrating and immediately my thought was 'I know what I'm going to write on yelp.' Probably the best donuts in H-town, but not the best donuts you'll ever eat.

With Hastings being a relatively small town, I think Emily's is one of its greatest assets. You can't get baked goods like this anywhere else in the area. Prices are reasonable, variety is good, and the frosting is to die for!

Good fresh donuts but they all really taste very much the same. They get cranky if you go to use a credit card even if you are purchasing over the minimum amount. Over all I would much prefer a Dunkin Donuts.

Everything I get here is so overly sweet it seems like. Definitely not a whole grain or gluten free type of bakery

Sandwiches and soups are simply delicious. After going there for lunch so many times I finally caved in and bought a pie which was amazing. Great local place for quality food.

We always visit family in Hastings over the holidays and typically a stop at Emily's is on our to-do list after we arrive from the airport. This year did not disappoint! We needed to grab some dessert for our holiday dinner and opted for the chocolate yule log. It was a HUGE hit! We also got an assortment of holiday cookies - they have such an amazing assortment and the rozzettes are a family favorite. I thought the help was really fantastic - it was a busy day but the girl helping us was relaxed and didn't try to rush us outta there. She let me pick out the cookies I wanted and rung us up with no issues even though a line had formed behind us. They did have sign posted asking for customers to pay in cash vs. using plastic... that is TOTALLY understandable! Prior reviewers commented on the hassle related to this but can you imagine all the expense for a small business??!? Do them a favor and just pay with cash - it will help them keep their costs down and who doesn't want that!?! It will be another year before we're back again, but I know we will stop in for some sweets!

A Hastings favorite and great bakery. Be sure to stop if driving through and if you live here and don't stop often you don't know what your missing. Blueberry streusel bars, dessert tarts, pies and morning goods are just the best.

When I'm in Hastings doing field work (As I have been quite often these past few weeks), 9 out of 10 times I decide to go to Emily's Bakery and Deli for lunch. The bread is baked in house (so many delicious options!), the deli choices are mouthwatering, and it's such a cute little place. The kind of bakery and deli you just see around anymore. The best part, so many delicious treats to end the meal with. Any meal is a steal, healthy, and delicious.

gotta give this place credit. it has alot of fans. it keeps fighting other bakerys in town like perkins....(yuck) and panera bread (yum) but emilys is an old homeade back to the basics type place. ...and i like it. had lunch here a few weeks ago and had some kind of sandwitch which was odd but pretty good. then i had a cup of soup that was over the top but good. the bakery food is 2nd to none. ...but honestly i dont even know why but i prefer panera over emilys...its almost like emilys is too old school...just a weird vibe there

By request, my mother will ship out butter cut-out cookies. Sugar/butter cookies in shapes with frosting. Yumm. My other favorite of their cookies are their gingersnap/molasses cookies. Cookies, donuts, bread... anything bakes, are baked daily in the wee small hours of the morning while we're still sleeping. When I indulge to a donut hole craving I get a mix of glazed donut holes and then the cinnamon sugar donut holes. Donut lovers take note.. I would choose these donuts over krispy kreme/dunkin donuts any day of the week. Bakery to the right, and the deli to the left. I adore their take on wild rice soup. They use turkey, and it's oh so smooth and comforting. Soup, salad, and sandwiches are on their menu. Don't buy into the chains, go to this Minnesota grown eatery.

I will begin by stating that I'm not a huge fan of sugar or butter cookies with frosting! I'll eat one a year if that! But oh my, oh my Emily's sugar/butter cookies are as good as it gets. I have been here visiting the in-laws and I have probably eaten a least a dozen cookies. Now you can simply buy the dough and frosting and bake them in the comfort of your own home.

I drive down to Hastings from St. Paul to buy all my bread from Emily's, then go grab some coffee at the 2nd Street Cafe (now called Benny's Grill). My partner and I love all the different, delicious breads they bake. Fresh baked that morning, you can't help but want to support this great local business. If nothing else, it's a great excuse to get out of the cities.

If you are looking for a small town bakery tat still makes things the old fashioned way and sells it to you at a very reasonable price, then look no further. I'm particularly found of the iced sugar cookies and their almond biscotti. Not much on atmosphere - most likely has looked this way for 3 or 4 decades - but staffed with friendly, helpful people. A little snappier service at lunch could bump me to 5 starts. Try the taco salad on "taco tuesday" - tortilla chips covered with taco meat, onions and cheese with a side of salsa and sour cream - just like mom used to make.

Emily's is Great. Always fresh great service. In the mornings the Senior Coffee Club is always in attedance. We have ordered numerous cakes and they are always super. I would highly recommend this bakery to anyone. This is a wonderful small town bakery and their baked goods far exceed anything that Perkins, Wal-Mart, Cub, or Coburns may offer.

The Good: baked items are cheap, some funny greeting cards and pape rgoods, seems to be very clean. The Not so Good: the service; on two occasions the older ladies working have been pretty unfriendly, the vibe; I always feel slightly uncomfortable when I go in here, like people are staring at me. I usually stop in when I'm down perusing the Salvation Army next door, but it always makes me feel weird. Even my husband said, "This place has a weird vibe," and he's not one to use the word vibe.

I miss the old bakeries that I went to as a kid in NW Iowa so when I spotted this place by chance I went to check it out. The smells inside were great and reminded me of Saturday mornings growing up when i stayed with my grandma and she would take me to get fresh donuts. I had a small cake donut and a maple covered roll. Both were cheap and tasted fine. Lots to choose from with different fillings but not the white cream ones. That is what I was looking for but to no avail. It was a nice stop on my way home, tasty and sweet, but nothing really set this aside from other donuts I've had. Which is several. :)
