Visited for the first time in Memorial Day and the place was packed/under staffed. Not a big deal since we were not in a rush and the broad yes chicken/potatoes were more than worth the wait! Beer came in a frosty mug too that created a small ice berg in my beer. Will surely go back again!!

THE HOME OF C R A C K C H I C K E N YUM YUM ! It is worth the drive up Hwy 65 from Mpls to Grandy for the best broasted chicken you have ever had. After many years, they have perfected the receipe for the coating. DAMN ! Legal Warning : You may become addicted. Proceed with caution. Also, if you would like fresh broasted crack chicken at your family picnic, outing or whatever occasion, they will haul their tralier there and make it FRESH. My son in law's dad had them come out to a park in Cambridge for the wedding rehearsal dinner. Even the family from Denmark was impressed. Also, their fresh cole slaw is the cherry on top of the sundae. There are other items on the menu like burgers and such, but don't be absurd. Really. The inside of the restaurant is a little rough around the edges, and it is usually PACKED, BUT HAS A LOT OF HISTORICAL INTEREST TOO. The actual brass rail from the original bar is hanging from the ceiling. Be prepared to wait, as broasting takes extra time. A multitude of people flitter in and out for take out chicken. As I said, be prepared to wait! E V E N B E T T E R T H E N E X T D A Y C O L D

Laid back atmosphere, super friendly staff. Takes awhile to get your food but they bring out the coleslaw like an appetizer., Very creamy, yet crunchy, like Mom used to make...Hubby and I got dark meat 1/2 order broasted chicken to split and a single of broasted potatoes. Lots of food and delicious! Moist, not greasy with crispy skin. Very much enjoyed the whole experience.

I've been eating here since high school (35 years) and the broasted chicken is as good today as it was then. It's just not a smoky bar anymore. Still a small town bar/restaurant, but they know their chicken. Fries and other sides fine also. Parking on Hwy 65 can be tough, but there is a rear entrance with gravel parking available.

Popped in here last Saturday evening to quench a month-long chicken craving. Nicely updated small-town bar with much of the original woodwork intact. The owner was seated at the bar alternately serving up cole slaw, playing solitaire, and talking to customers. Our service was a little slow, but they seem to serve a twenty mile radius via take-out, based on the comings and goings. I had a half mixed broaster chicken, cole slaw, and onion rings. Chicken was piping hot with crispy skin and well seasoned. But the cole slaw - such a perfect mix of tangy and sweet without being gloopy - a nice light dressing. We took a quart home. My companion had the spicy chicken sandwich, and wow! jalapeno bacon on a generous chicken breast portion for a great balance of heat and straight-up chicken flavor. It was really good. The fries and onion rings were pretty meh, but that's not why you come here. Next time I'll try the broaster potatoes. I've never been to a set-up bar and they're still licensed that way! They do have beer in bottles and on draft and a limited wine selection. Great small town bar, well prepared, inexpensive food, friendly service. We'll be back!

We've been bringing folks to the Brass Rail as our favorite chicken spot for a long time. It is very habit forming, and we've turned many people into addicts. Dont plan on healthy eating though, everything is deep fried. Nice cold beer too, which is great because this place gets packed, and the wait for food can be very long. Dosent stop us from ALWAYS coming back!

I grew up and went to school in Cambridge. This was the spot for chicken. A lot of people still love it. I think the flavor has changed since the remodel. They added a bar where you can get a real drink now. If I remember right it was only a 3.2 beer joint before. I don't think Donna changed the recipe so maybe they added a new broaster that's not as seasoned? I have no problem meeting girlfriends at the Brass Rail for lunch.

Great broasted chicken, hot fried potatoes, (actually broasted like the chicken) fresh coleslaw paired with ice cod beer served in a frosted mug. The service is fast and friendly. The place is a cute and cozy, complete with fireplace and warm wood work. And better yet, the prices, this is serious good value! If you're looking for seeds, sprouts and tofu don't bother. However if you're looking for hot delicious food from the fryer and served up at a place that makes you think you have just walked into an episode of "Cheers" well you have come to the right place. And personally, I have no problem with plastic forks, isn't chicken meant to be eaten with your fingers?

The ONLY place to go for Broasted chicken! It's amazing, a true mouthgasm! The coleslaw is the only slaw I will eat, simply awesome!! VERY packed weekend nights, but worth the wait. Most of the staff is helpful, friendly, and quick! Kathy is the best waitress they have, if you can, sit in her section! Rod is always awesome as well! If the owner (original, now co-owner) is there, she has lots of great stories to tell and will sit down at your table and just shoot the breeze. Typical old school small town. Been going there for as long as I can remember, simply the best Broasted chicken, slaw and a price that can't be beat! Make sure to get the broasted potatoes, they are amazing!!! It's a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, so expect a little bar, but cute with the remodel. I perfect drive from the burbs, or even the Cities. Well worth the drive, but if driving at night, watch out for the deer!

I haven't stopped into the Brass Rail in years, my dad would take me there for lunch in the past. I stopped in today and the remodle job they did after the fire is great. It opened up the place and gave it the room it needed for more table space. They staff is friendly and curtious. Answered any and all questions. I ordered the double bacon and cheese burger. To my suprise it came on a toasted chibatta bun and not your ordinary hamburger bun. Alicia the bartender suggested the broasted potatos, which came out looking like a thick sliced potato chip / jojo. They were to die for!! BRASS RAIL keep up the good work and you have a great staff to be proud of. Keep the tradition going. OH and by the way the Brass Rail is famous for their Broasted Chicken. Happy Eats!!

I drive by the Brass Rail every time I go to my cabin, yet it's been nearly 10 years since I stopped in for their famous broasted chicken. That all changed last week when a friend and I went on a mission for broasted chicken. We were rewarded - juicy, succulent, rich, tasty chicken. The slaw was good too, and the broasted potatoes were an old-school comfort food, but it's the chicken that sings. Ridiculously reasonable in price, full menu, a bit of a dive (but a vast improvement post-remodel) but in a non-seedy way. Go there. Order chicken. Experience greasy food coma. Yum.

If you love broasted chicken this is the spot!

This place will blow up your arteries. With dinner you should also get a coupon for a quadruple bypass. The chicken was ok, but really greasy and salty. Everything else is deep fried and there was no flavor. The only dipping "sauce" was either ketchup or Hidden Valley ranch salad dressing. On a positive note, they don't pretend to be something they're not. Prices are low and they use paper plates and plastic silverware.
