It's Friday night...you're hungry but don't want to get dressed up to go out and eat (don't judge) but still want good food. Enter Hello Pizza... I'm a fan of Pizzeria Lola and figured that since this place was owned by the same person the quality/taste would be about the same. Unlike Lola on a Friday night you don't need to wait an hour to get a seat and ordering was straight forward. Based on the description on the menu I ordered Adobo Chicken pizza as well as a pitcher of Surly Furious to guzzle down while I waited for my pie to cook. Fifteen minutes (and four beers) later I had my pizza in hand and headed home ready to devour it. The pizza overall was pretty good although I'm not sure I'd order it again. All of the ingredients were fresh but I can't say I was really excited of HP's version of Adobo...my mom is part Filipino and makes a killer adobo chicken, so I tend to be a little biased. All in all HP still makes a great pizza (maybe a little overpriced) which I'm keeping on my judgment free take-out Fridays list.

Others have said it and it's true ... this isn't New York-style pizza. More like Williamsburg (and yes, as I ate at the counter, a family with a double-wide stroller and organic juice pulled up.) I ordered the Rita and the Veggie Supremo. The Rita was okay (fresh but a little meh), the Veggie Supremo more sinful with the gooey choose and packed on toppings. I agree with S.W.'s comment, that the problem, weirdly enough, is that the pizza isn't "bad" enough. Meaning, that the pizza is trying to be down-market in a safe way. It's tasty (though not as delectable as Lola) but not greasy enough. The crust is a reliable delivery system for everything else, but it needs more oil and waayyy more salt. The sauce/toppings, too, need to slide around a bit more. More oil? A less healthy cheese? I also don't get the display pizzas. They look so sad, sitting there and destined to be un-consumed. Besides, the joy of the slice shop is sliding in there just in time to snag the last two slices of your favorite pie. Again, this is safe. But the inside is cheery, I love the counter-seating, the decor, and the non-descript intersection location -- all as a slice shop should have! Just bring on some more grease!!

Cute place! But the pizza is just ok and very over priced. We loved the ice cream with the salt, yum!

Sometimes a restaurant opens up that makes you wonder why no one thought about this concept before. Hello Pizza sells pizza-by-the-slice in the residential Linden Hills neighborhood. Despite only six choices, everyone will find something to their liking from straightforward cheese or pepperoni to the more interesting special (which included rapini on my recent visit). Local draft beers and superior soft serve ice-cream are a nice touch. But it is the Korean Cowboy sub that will make me come back many times. With just the right amount of spiciness, this banh mi style sandwich includes the best bbq meatballs in town. If only they could sell these by the container..

Great new pizza shop! When you go you need to order an entire whole pizza because they will make it fresh and hot out of the oven for you. If you order pizza by the slice they reheat a slice of pizza that has been sitting around forever and it isn't that tasty compared to the fresh whole pizza. The salads are also really good, a little pricey. Great new pizza concept in Edina!

Like its cousin, Pizzeria Lola, Hello Pizza offers up a great formula - foodie quality in a hip yet accessible vehicle that challenges categorization. Hello looks like and can be treated like a quick by-the-slice shop that is an alternative to faster-food fare, or you can grab a table and make a coursed meal out of it that is as good as a great restaurant. With artisanal cheeses, meats and well done salads, its a great choice for a date or family night out. Tables are hard to come by, as the place is on the small side, so, like Lola, be ready for a wait at peak times. Our kids loved it and keep begging to go back as well. oh one last thing- Meatball subs. Out of this world. SERIOUSLY.

I work nearby - so this is a lunch spot for me. Dinner experiences may vary. Atmosphere is diner meets antique store meets trendy minimalism. I dig it. Lunch rush is hardly a rush. Plenty of seating and service is quick. They have beer/wine. It's a pizza joint that has good specialty pies...buuuuuut... THE MEATBALL SUBS. $7.95 for magic in your mouth. You know something is good when halfway through you can't wait to eat it again. Both varieties are exceptional. The "old skool balls" for traditional cheesy marinara goodness. The "Korean cowboy" for an extremely well done Korean twist. And the dough they use is just that perfect mix of crunch and soft.

Pizza was fresh and delicious...I went the traditional route with plain cheese pizza. It was pretty close to the pizza you get by the slice in New York. The 90s pop music playing in the restaurant was a pleasant bonus, too! Only real complaint was that the restaurant was extremely cold!

Pizza by the slice, family friendly, engaging staff, quick service and absolutely incredible pizza. My $7 lunch (1 large pie-slice, Soda and tip) is worth the 11 minute drive from work! WOWed Might in fact be the best pizza I have had in the metro. Only close one is Sammy's in Coon Rapids.

I came in to get a to-go order and the place was empty, but it was at like 4 pm. The special was an adobo chicken pizza, so I got a slice of that and the Korean Cowboy sub. The food was done fast. The pizza was nothing special- if you are expecting Lola then you will be disappointed. It was decent. The Korean Cowboy was really good- the meatballs were perfect and so were the toppings. Bread was a little too crunchy but overall great flavor.

I only ever get the plain cheese pizza here, and it's perfect. Sauce has excellent flavor, cheese is perfectly melted - but the crust is the star for me - sturdy and crisp with a chewy interior. Yum!

  • Elizabeth R.

If you're looking for pizza as good as its sister, Pizzeria Lola, then you will be disappointed. However, it's good, has delivery (unlike Lola), and isn't too expensive. I did take-out, and I'm glad I did because the open, metallic, harshly-lit interior is not exactly a place I want to sit and relax with a slice.

It's not NY style but it's close. The crust is thinner and crunchier, without the chewy part under the sauce, compared to a typical pizzeria slice from back home. Still, this place makes by far my favorite slice in the twin cities. Yes, slice, you can just a get a slice instead of buying a whole damn pie. I stick with cheese, pepperoni, or sausage. I only wish the slices were longer rather than wide.

I wanted to like you so bad Hello, why did you have to be so sub-par?!?! Ugh. I feel horrible about writing a bad review (it's my first "below three stars" review, you guys...this is really hard). It must be the Minnesotan in me. But, I can't lie. Hello, you disappointed me. I thought you were going to be really good NY pizza. I thought you were going to be all drippy and droopy in the middle. I thought you'd have that slightly oregano-y taste fused together with just the right amount of melty cheese... But you weren't that. You were bland. Also. PRICES. Sheesh, so expensive. Anyways, thank you Hello Pizza for taking my negative review virginity. It was not the most pleasant experience.

A little bit pricey. Over 40 bucks for 2 large pizzas. We got the veggie and sicilian. More of a fan of the Sicilian. Both were pretty decent quality though. I really liked the Hello Kitty decor and the photo booth was pretty neat. Really wish it would let you retake photos though and it cost $3 for one quick session of 3 snapshots. If you want you can leave a copy for the restaurant to post so your friends can see when they stop by. It was walking distance to the Realtor we were meeting with so we didn't have to worry about parking.

Helloooo! So pleased to meet you. I'm a NY/SO FLA transplant that has been looking for a good pizza for the last three years. I've tried so many different pizzerias in the twin cities without much luck, my search is over. Bottom line, perfect dough, great cheese, tasty sauce, and quality toppings all make for a top notch pizza. I tried it for the first time Wednesday (pep, mush) and tried it again the following Saturday (sicilian), both were awesome and baked to perfection. Pro tip: call them to place your order, show up 5 minutes before they tell you it will be ready. Check out the atmosphere. If it's too bright, too noisy, too quiet, too whatever, go home with your order. If you like the atmosphere, have a seat, I'm sure they won't mind. I prefer to take mine home. Thank you Hello.

I've been meaning to try this place for a while and was finally able to stop in on a Friday for lunch. I ordered a slice of pepperoni, small cesear salad and coke and it was just over $9 in total. Pizza was fine with small pepperoni and a thicker, chewy crust and not much flavor; quite like Sbarro with a thicker crust. The side small was pretty small but just enough for one person but it too was a little generic tasting. If you want bland pizza, this is the spot for you.

  • Shawn S.

It's Meh. But please understand that there are people that will love it here. The pizza is good, they have slices and pies, they offer wine and beer for sale, and the servers are friendly. But for me, I walked out with a headache. There are a lot of kids out with their parents for dinner, a lot of chewing with mouth open, and lot of people hanging over you for your seat because it is popular for the size of space. For me - I prefer the Lola location - it's a bit trendier, the pizza is better and more variety, and while still busy and noisy, is more for me.

Helloooooo delivery guy! Hello now shows up at your door, which completely wins me over. I'm really really in love with this as a delivery pie. It's got the right texture, the right flavor, the right cheese ratios, and it's just absolutely good. It very much reminds me of extremely good NYC delivery pies, while the slice experience doesn't quite hit my nostalgia triggers. Go figure. I have no idea why, only that I have my new delivery go to. Re-heat the next day or go for cold. Price for quantity and quality is awesome. 18 inches is very very big. Delivery was fast and brought thoughtful extras for soda add ons. The only downside is that I think if things get very VERY out of control, someone switches the phone over to fax. So watch those weekend nights. This should die down eventually. If I see the word "Sbarro" in another review of this place I will prank deliver Sbarro to that person, I swear....

4 degrees is what it read on the Century 21 office near Hello Pizza, it was a frigid day. I have always wanted to try this place because I heard the sister restaurant Pizza Lola was amazing. My wife wasn't hungry, but she was game to let me try a slice. The large neon lettering announcing that it was Hello pizza bellowed from above as we entered. It kind of looked like a 50's diner and they had the offerings of the day displayed in front of us at the counter. I ordered the special of the day, which was the Hello Rita, a slice with just sauce and I think homemade mozzarella chunks on it. I also got a side Caesar salad and a Surly Furious to wash it down with. After about 5 minutes we had our food brought out to us, they have these cool plastic plates that look like paper plates, a nice touch. The salad was super tasty with fresh greens and split cherry tomatoes. They did not drench it in dressing, just the right amount. Yummy! The Furious was of course amazing! The pizza was a little charred on the crust but it wasn't anything to write home about. My expectations were set so high, I think that is why I was a little disappointed. The cheese was solid, but again, the blandness of mozzarella made it tough to make it an outstanding slice. I liked the place enough, it was like $15 bucks for a slice, a beer, and a salad, so a little steep for a lunch, but I am glad I tried the place out. Good guys behind the counter, but I have checked it off the "To try" list. My wife said Lola is awesome though, so I we will have to try that out!

After experiencing the joys of Ethopian on Friday night, my wife and I decided to stay closer to home and try a new pizza place. We both were in agreement that pizza is our favorite cuisine and struggled between ordering in and going out to grab a pie. Our first thought was to go to Pizzeria Lola, which we ADORE, but when we arrived they told us there was a 2-hour wait. Holy cow, that's long even for a Saturday night, but we know why. So we had selected a second choice, a place neither of us had been to before, and this time we picked Hello Pizza (3904 Sunnyside, Edina). This place wasn't too far from where we live and if they were extremely busy, we could always head back home and order in. Drove out to Edina and were pleasantly surprised to find that there was just a short wait, it was 4-5 minutes tops before we got in. Our friendly waitress sat us and we mulled over the menu. Great menu. They recommended their subs, but since we both wanted pizza we went ahead and placed an order for a large "New Yorker" pizza. This pizza comes with sausage, pepper and onions and like their other pies, is razor-thin, as you would expect from a NY pizza. It was a little pricy at $24 for a large, but we can't complain because it was really, really good pizza. The best way to describe it would be a higher-quality version of Sbarro. Very good quality. Nice selection of non-alcoholic drinks, including San Pellegrinos and other small-batch sodas as well as the classic fountain drinks. On a side note... is it just me or is Minneapolis the only place in the world that has pizzerias with operational photo booths? I've been all over the world and have never seen anything like this before... Anyway, back to the experience. The pizza is top-notch and I definitely recommend it, but I think I would recommend having it delivered (they just added delivery and unless you live in a really close proximity they probably won't bring it to your) or carry-out. We saw a lot of people carrying out and I think we know why. There were plenty of families at the restaurant and the noisy children really wrecked it for me. The occasional loud kid is one thing, but a restaurant full of unruly kids running around kind of wrecks the experience. I believe another reviewer recently complained about the same issue. So, if you can handle the annoying kids then this place will be great. For us, that knocked our review down by one star. Sorry, Hello Pizza, but if this place felt less like a Pizza Hut and more trendy like Pizzeria Lola I'd for sure give you a fourth star. Still a fantastic product.

Love the concept of a slice of pizza, salad, and icecream. I had a slice of the sausage and pepperoni combined. It was good not amazing like I had hoped. Big fan of LOLA. As my husband pointed out they are re-heating your pizza. It is not fresh out of the oven. The salad we had was awesome. It had onions, and blue cheese and pepitos. Really good and a generous portion. The soft serve with sea salt and caramel was good not great. We would definitely go back because it was easy to get in to, reasonably priced and a good meal.

Say you, say me, say it to Lionel Richie and Jim Morrison who adorn two of the doors (pun intended) at Hello Pizza. Everyone says it, but the plastic paper plates require a thorough inspection and fits in well with the cafeteria atmosphere Came in on Memorial Day and the place was packed. Was a good 15 min wait in line and just lucky enough to snap a table. Kids had boring half pepp half sausage which was good but I tried single slices of the specialties which were much better. Even the Sicilian with onions was great (hate onions). Next door to Convention Grill it makes a nice decision for pizza or burgers. I would have gone to Convention Grill because it was so crowded, but I ate there just two weeks prior. Certainly worth at least a slice when in the neighborhood.

So I was hangry. Like I've shopped for 6 hours and haven't found what I want hangry, but I didn't realize this until I was done with shopping for the day and driving by Hello Pizza.. Since I had never had Lola, I figured this was my opportunity to try out a slice. I was instantly turned off by the decor, and that seems really shallow of me, especially since I usually don't judge anything usually, but it just wasn't atheistically pleasing, at least not to the point where I would want to sit there and eat for dinner, but I was just stopping in, so this really isn't included in my rating. I ordered the veggie slice of the day, which was a spinach and artichoke. The pizza was too salty and garlicky for me. Thank goodness I was just hanging out with myself otherwise I would have had to pop some gum before hanging out with anyone. The crust was thin and delightful however, and it was not greasy at all, which is always a bonus. While this all sounds positive, the pizza didn't wow me and I was expecting much more from all the reviews I had read. Also, luckily the slice of the day was a vegetarian slice, otherwise I would have had the option of cheese and I like to have more options, this is the land of choices after all!

Food/Drink: Yes, finally a pizza shop I can get behind. Pizza by the slices and super high quality. Crusts were awesomely chewy, the sauce was just right (I'm pretty sure it was also pretty simple and seasoned perfectly) and the toppings brought me to my knees. Had a slice of the special of the day (I think Hello Rita) and a Trinity. Warm and full on eatable. Finished the two slices and I was so close to running up and grabbing a third, good thing self control (and beers) were calling me. Speaking of drinks and other things, they have a few sandwiches, desserts and some beers to boot. Great place to head with the family and get a pizza quickly. Ambiance: It's a pizza house. Tables setup perfectly for large groups or private couples (even some singles on a counter overlooking the street). There's a photo booth if you want a gimmick, and the pictures are strewn up everywhere. Either way, it sets the mood for fun and you won't be disappointed. Great for families just grabbing a quick pizza or two. Service: Basic counter service, the person taking the order double checked everything got us our beers and sodas. Grab a table with your number and the pizza will come out to you as soon as it's hot. Parmesan, chili flakes, salt and pepper at the tables. If you need anything, head back up to the counter and they'll help you out, no doubt about it. Everyone seems to be enjoying it. Overall: Whether it's for lunch or a quick dinner, whether it's with a family or just you, this place hits it on all notes. It's got great food, a great location and service to boot. Did I mention the pizzas? Don't know what to order, wait around and look around when the others are flying by. You'll find one you like and then grab a different slice to try something new. Split a sundae afterwards, rumor has it the caramel or hot fudge might be homemade?

I am a fan. However, we recently had a mistake on a to go order. After driving back to the restaurant, I noticed a number of new faces working. A face I recognized acknowledge that new employees were working and asked if a mistake was made, but that was it . . . Not even a simple apology. Stroke one!

I'm just not in love with Hello Pizza's food. What I do love is the friendly staff, the cute decor and the pizza-by-the-slice concept. I'm not a huge fan of the pizza, though. And for this being the main draw, I don't think I'm hooked. There isn't a lot of seating inside or out, so when I came here I knew that easiest thing would be to get the pizza to-go and eat elsewhere. I would have thought that a pizza-by-the-slice restaurant would have a better to-go option than shoving the slices in between two paper plates. This, shockingly, didn't work at all and I managed to get marinara sauce on the seat of my car. Oops. For some reason, the pepperoni on the meat slice we got was really memorable. Spicy and peppery. Yum.

Wonderfully nostalgic! Great tunes and atmosphere! Now to the good stuff: the pizza was delish! Cheese pizza a little dry, but good crust. Sicilian was so great. Nice and crispy crust, good cheese/ sauce ratio. Special was veggie.. great crust, tasty, and saucy! AND my darling NYC boyfriend loved it, and told me to mention they have garlic powder for sprinkling.

I sort of knew I would like it. All the Lola experiences I've had have been outstanding, so I expected the same flawlessness here. Hello is a different type of pizza, but still flawless. The decor is minimalist and strange in the best way. Name tags, creepy Lionel Richie, false quotes from famous people all over the place. My friend ordered the Sicilian, which was like a pizza/focaccia/crisped cheese square. Seriously, it had an extra crust of cheese on the outside that was the best part. The bite I had was incredible. I got a slice of the veggie NY-style, covered in mushrooms, spinach, onions and feta. This was awesome too. They have gluten-free crust and sell whole pies along with the by-the-slice business. They also offer house soft serve ice cream with a few different toppings and beer/wine. Personally, I felt obligated to eat pizza the first time I was here, but I'm excited to try the Korean cowboy sub and the salads too!

We went on a Sunday afternoon, during lunch time and it wasn't very busy. We had the Rita pizza and a Korean sandwich. The Rita pizza had good flavor and the crust was nice and solid. No sogginess here! The meatballs in the Korean sandwich were cooked to perfection and the flavors melt together so well! We did the photobooth, which is always fun. It's $3, you pay at the counter and put in a code in the booth. It's also fun to see other peoples photostrips on the wall. There are some patio chairs in front of the shop, but no tables. Also, no alcohol outside. Prices are reasonably priced for the quality and no wait which is a plus! I wish I lived closer as I'd frequent this place more often or even get a whole pizza to go!

I walked into Hello Pizza on the last day of August. I figured - what better way to end the summer than to try out the new pizza place that opened just down the street from where I grew up. The menu is straightforward, you have your choice of pizza by the slice, whole pies, or a meatball sub if you want something different. The by-the-slice options they have are great. I started with a slice of "Hello Trinity" and finished with a slice of the "Sicilian." The trinity is great for meatlovers - pepporoni, spicy sausage and mushrooms. Sicilian was also excelent, the tomato and cheese fit perfectly with the crunchy crust. I was hoping for a larger selection in the types of single slices available, but their whole pie menu is more robust. Altogether a great place to have a slice. They have Harriet, Bells, Great Lakes, and Fulton on tap... not a bar, but a great family outing or casual eating with some friends. Service was fast, check these guys out!

I really want to love this place because it's in my neighborhood, I lived in NY for years and wanted a by the slice place I could walk to. The staff is wonderful and if you love that interaction, please go. After writing a negative review, I met with Ann Kim, the owner. She acknowledged that there had been some problems at Hello. She said that she needed to meet with staff to "tweak" some problems and they have been resolved. The sauce was tomato-y without being overly salty. The Korean Cowboy sandwich is outstanding. Ann truly wants to be a neighborhood anchor and I think she is achieving this. Give this place a shot. I'm glad I did.

I finally made it back to HP to give their Korean Cowboy meatball sandwich a try. I am a sucker for the spicy kick of Korean food and the sandwich did not disappoint. The roll it is served on looks like a baguette but the crust is soft and yielding, not crisp. The meatballs have been soaking in a vat of gochugang sauce, the fermented chili pepper sauce that is the lifeblood of the Korean experience. There is heat there, but it is not burn your mouth hot, unless you think ketchup is spicy - in which case you should resort to eating unseasoned oatmeal for the rest of your life. The meatballs themselves are of a decent size and are light and airy, not dense, stick to your ribs. The meatballs made for a satisfying sandwich, not an "oh my god will this thing ever leave my body" experience. The meatballs are topped with a nice amount of pickled onions and a combination of shredded daikon and carrots that have been lightly pickled. Leaves of cilantro complete the dressing of the sandwich. I was happy to see that the price had dropped to an even $9 for the cowboy. This is one solid sandwich. My one hope is that in the future Ann Kim will add some of her homemade kimchi to the sandwich. That would push my review up to five stars!

Since I have moved here from California this place has been wonderful! We have gone and my family and I and had delicious pizza and a great time as well. They have some awesome beer on tap and a really fun atmosphere to be in. I have yet to try all their different pizzas but I am sure they are super awesome. They also sell by the slice which is convenient, however they are a little more expensive than I would like to pay for pizza but in the end it is worth it. Go check them out you will not be disappointed

This nondescript little pizzeria is tucked next to the Convention Grille. For the first few days (weeks?), there was no sign designating its quiet entry into the neighborhood restaurant community. Nonetheless, if you bake it, they will come. And come they did. The pizza is delicious. The crust is crunchy and chewy. The pizza topping combinations are interesting and yum-tastic. Although the decor is minimalist, I don't mind as the waiters/bakers/assemblers are extremely friendly and enthusiastic about their pizza. The salads are definitely worth getting as well. And I am always a fan of photo booths. This may become my go-to Sunday night pizza place when I'm too tired/lazy/hungry to make my own.

First off, the pizza was great! I am rating three stars because I ordered cheese pizza by the slice and it took 40 minutes! At Green Mill it takes less than 10. My husband got his pizza 15 minutes before mine so he was finished by the time mine arrived and we had to watch each other eat. Didn't get an apology or explanation by the staff when I inquired about our pizza. They may have been having an off night. Usually cheese pizza by the slice should be the quickest thing to get though.

By the Lola folks. Kiddos like it and we find things we liked as well. Have to say the smokey greens salad was absolutely great -- even better than the Punch salad. I'd stick the pizzas at good --- like Lola and Black Sheep a bit better. Never too crowded on the weekdays when we go which is a plus. Always a good beer on tap. Bit on the spendy side as pizza goes but that's to be expected with the wife's gluten allergy.

I kept telling myself, don't expect New York style pizza, don't expect New York style pizza, but even with this mantra, I still couldn't help but hope for New York style pizza. Now, Hello Pizza is good, don't get me wrong, but it's not New York style pizza. It's decent, quick, friendly pizza. The vibe is pretty fun, I'll always take a nod to Lionel. It's bright and cheery, however cramped and confusing the entryway is. Hello Pizza has some of the fun touches of it's Sister Shop down the road, house made soft serve ice cream and a photo booth, but it differs in presentation and service. They have roughly 5-6 pizzas to choose from, along with a couple of sammies. I went with a friend and we opted for getting a slice each to ourselves and then sharing a third. We got the special which had peppers on it, artichokes, white sauce and mozz. The crust was solid, with a nice char and chew. The toppings were good but holy moly - wish I had realized the peppers were spicy. My friend and I are both Minnesota spice wimps so we ended up taking the peppers off - the rest was pretty good. For my main slice, I got the Sicilian which was almost excellent. I say almost because the center of the cheese wasn't melted all the way, it had that semi-melted but you could still see the shreds of cheese thing going on. However, since I have never ever seen Sicilian style pizza in Minnesota, I couldn't pass it up. I actually like this better than the other pizza, with it's thick focaccia-like crust, a thick layer of cheese that crusted on the edges that touch the pan, and a spread of tomato sauce on top along with some fresh basil. This place is great for families or people who want a quick in-n-out slice of pizza. However, I'd rather splurge my time and my money and head down to Pizzeria Lola for a more interesting pie!

I love me some pizza by the slice & had high hopes that this would become my new regular joint. The taste was just 'meh'. However, my shorties gobbled it up...but then again, they are easy to please. Had to jockey for a table during weekday lunch, which was a turnoff for me when shorties are in tow. The server was sweet & helpful - she pinpointed which table was about to turn, then had it cleaned & prepped for me within 60 seconds. I like that. Love the n'hood. Love the kitschy cuteness of the decor...my shorties were grooving on the the fun atmosphere. It was funny to see them so excited about lunch.

Boring pizza at expensive prices. I'd give this place two stars but the credit card machine was "broken" and the teller wrote my credit card number down *on a slip of paper* to sit around until they could enter it in the card processing device. Ideally I wouldn't have to worry about identity theft when I buy pizza. Minneapolis is like a Bermuda Triangle of New York-style pizza -- barely anyone does it and it's always bad. I had high hopes for this place but was disappointed.

Mmm, I wish this was closer to where I live. It's worth making the trek, though, because it is the perfect kind of pizza: substantial crust but still chewy and crispy at the same time, really fresh and flavorful toppings, and quick service. We were there at a really random time, like 3 pm on a Sunday, so it was almost empty in there. Shared the Hello Rita and the daily special, which was very tasty. I really, really liked the soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, though. It sounds weird but it was oddly refreshing, and I liked the salty/sweet combination.

I wanted to love this but other places do it much better. The food is really not that good. The crust is way to crunchy, the cheese is either being pulled from a bag or not fatty enough to make a great taste. It's really not much better than frozen pizza. I had two slices. The daily special... passable. Good but not delicious. Way too skimpy on the toppings for the price. $4.50 for a slice? It's not filling and the crust is actually way to crackery. The plain (cheese) slice was horrendous... it was the worst cheese slice I've ever had. Unbelievably bad. How a restaurant can even call this their base pizza is strange to me. The cost is waaaaaayyyy too high. Why would I buy a beer in a restaurant with no ambiance? The interior design is horrific. It looks like a terrible refrigerator with random plastic magnets... who did this? By far the worst looking restaurant I've ever been to.. by far. Yuck. It's worse than a Kmart Deli... absolute fail on the interior. It's way too bright, it's way too "cafeteria" and "school room"... who wants to think of the worst designed places on the planet other than schools, cafeterias and subways... totally offense... way too bright... I hope they fix these "fixable" mistakes and wise up. People expect more though and more dimension in their food these days... terrible 80s Arcade subway pizza? who wants to over pay for that? Service was nice, place was clean, but I do hope they tweak their pizza a little... it comes across as poor... crust and oil... no flavor on the plain... put the oregano on yourselves? check out some other local places? do some homework on interiors of restaurants? Add some warm and turn down the yucky bright florescent? Ugg... literally who wants to eat under florescent lighting? and be reminded of school and cafeterias? Usually pizza places are warm, dim, smell great and have good prices... and good food... this place has only the staff to save it. Try Pizza Luce, Davannis, Carbones, the frozen food section from Super Target, Jack's frozen pizza, anything... else, the pizza is that bad. Blegh... and I'm a pizza lover. Fat Lorenzo's, Broadway Pizza, Pizza Hut, even Domino's... even Pappa Johns... Hello Pizza is really sub-standard... as delivery and frozen are better.

Great Thin Crust NY style pizza. My husband has been trying to find a good pizza place (since moving here from CT) and I feel confident in saying that we did. We stopped by over lunch and ordered 5 slices between the two of us (we obviously have no control). Overall they tasted great and the restaurant itself was a perfect little spot. Can't wait to return :-)

A little pricey, but super good. I was a little nervous ordering pizza by the slice, thinking at 1pm on a weekday it might not be very hot - but it was. And it was delicious. My husband and I ordered 3 slices - the Rita, the Trinity, and one slice of the special (which was an artichoke spinach). I am so glad we ordered 3 slices - it was the perfect amount to share, and any more would've been way too much. The Rita had a rich, tomatoey taste, and the cheese was super gooey. My husband really liked the Trinity, with the various meats and mushrooms. We both liked the special - but the other two were our favorites. Not cheap, with the Trinity and special each being 4.50 a slice (the Rita was 3.50), but the 'zza was excellent and we'll definitely be back.

I have never had a slice of pizza in NYC, but I know what I like in a slice of pizza, and this is it. The crust is just the right amount of crispy, the right amount of chew, just the right balance of breadiness to thin-ness. They practice restraint when it comes to topping and the quality of the ingredients is remarkable. I tried the daily special which was a "Chicken Adobo" slice. It was pretty good. I didn't quite get the "adobo" but it was non the less a slice worthy of its calories. A slice worthy of 3-4 stars. I was really hungry so I decided to go for a second slice the "Hello Rita" That is what tipped the boat toward 5 star territory. The slice had sparse amounts of good quality mozzarella and the red sauce really shined. It was also glistening from the amount of olive oil drizzled over the thing. That amazing crust just soaked up all that goodness and by the end, I was sad that I had finished. It really is that good. Highly recommended.

I can't go any lower than four stars because the salad was incredible. I have never had a smoked salad before, and I just loved it. The Pizza? I'd say three stars. It was good, but I can think of many other pizzas I'd rather have. Also. I hate wine in juice cups. It's weird.

I live in the neighborhood and noticed today that the shop was finally open. Hooray! The shop is airy and modern and uncluttered. There's enough tables to seat maybe 40? Also, a cute window counter with seats. I'm hoping they have patio/sidewalk dining once it warms up (as the old bakery location there did!) The daily slices will run you about $3.25-4.50. They are nicely sized, prolly about 2 regular pie-slices if you want to get fussy about volume. The split was about 50/50 veg to meat options, a decent ratio. Whole pies are $21+ depending on if you add some of their delicious premium options such as crimini mushrooms or house-made maple bacon (for you carnys out there). I opted for the Veggie Supremo slice, which was loaded with cheeses including feta, and mushrooms, spinach, onions and garlic. Very tasty. They have a mini tap selection of local beers, sold by the glass or pitcher. I was pumped to see Indeed's Midnight Ryder! Also, wines, but I don't know anything about wine so I would feel remiss in advising you on that particular facet of the business. You can also order side/entree salads, and a few meaty sounding subs. Secret bonus: they have a photobooth! All in all, I'm pleased to see the shop open, and I'm excited for my neighborhood to have such a yummy haven. I'm not particularly pleased at the potential outcomes of drunken photobooth possibilities, but that's my own cross to bear. Welcome!

Wow, what a painful experience. Let's start with the pizza, since that's presumably why you're going there. It was mediocre at best. I had two slices, the classic cheese and the daily special which was a Mediterranean slice today. Chewy, old, lukewarm, completely blah sauce. Crazy expensive--$15 for two slices and a beer?!?! Then there's the atmosphere...if you like screaming, bratty, entitled white kids with beleaguered, hipster parents who can't be bothered to parent these menaces, then this is the place for you! I couldn't get out of there fast enough. If you want a great slice and no sociological birth control, head straight to Soho Cafe, they know what they're doing!

The folks behind Pizzeria Lola have opened their new spot in Edina. The concept is a little different: NY style pizza by the slice and a more casual, no-nonsense interior, but there are plenty of welcome similarities like the occasional touches of Korean cuisine and a photobooth ($3). You order and the counter and, if dine-in, get a number, and they bring it to you: unlike a lot of by-the-slice places they don't just hand it to you at the counter, but I suppose that makes sense as they have items that do need prep time. From the slices I tried the Hello Trinity and plain cheese as well as getting a salad (I also took home some items, mentioned at the end). The plates looks like traditional paper plates but are plastic and hefty, it's a cute idea. Plain Cheese: The cheese is floppy and foldable (as is tradition). This was good, not great--I suppose that was my mistake to not get things that were a little more compelx, but sometimes it's good to test a baseline. This was probably too much of a baseline. The cheese pizza was on par with what I can get from Whole Foods. Thankfully I'd also ordered the Hello Trinity: it's a cheese pizza with mushroom, pepperoni and mushroom. Delicious. Reminded me of what Pizzeria Lola can do. The Caesar salad served in a metal mixing bowl (causing it to look home made) and doesn't try anything out of the ordinary: Fresh lettuce, cherry tomatoes and some house-made croutons, topped by a salty Caesar dressing with a light bite (I liked it) and freshly shaved Parmesan. There wasn't room to hide any serious deficiencies, and I liked it. Take home: Korean Cowboy: meatball sub with Korean BBQ flavors with the sort of coleslaw you'd get on a Banh Mi. Tasty, a little spicy and --considering they only have 2 meatball subs on the menu (I was worried it might not be something they're good at vs. their pizza)-- a pleasant surprise. I would order it again. The New Yorker (this can only be ordered by the 18" pie and comes in at $22): 4 cheeses, sausage and peppers. Much better than plain cheese. Unlike the more traditional pizza ground sausage on the Hello Trinity, this one has large portions of sausage on the pizza. My wife and I both enjoyed it. I'd put the Hello Trinity a little ahead of it though, I'm a sucker for classics. They also had a number of other interesting options on the whole pie-only menu, including a Adobo Chicken (described as having BBQ-sauce pizza) and Spicy Broccoli. You can also make your own take-home using either a cheese or Margarita as your base. Overall it was a good experience, I would return.

This will not be any competition for Convention Grille next door. I ordered a simple cheese slice and I'm with B. H. on the baseline comparison. The crust was too charred, a NY doesn't have to be charred at all. Matthew's take on it was exactly what I was thinking. I'm from upstate NY so I'm no novice to a classic NY pizza. Since I don't know what other pizza, especially privately owned, is in the area, I don't know how welcome it actually is. For seasoned snobs this will not be the destination that Lola is. You won't get the cravings you do for Lola, I know that much. Families and teens will go for it, but not sure if the prices will warrant it being their hang out. The closest I've come to the NY concept is Ginelli's Pizza. I miss that place. What I really think is that she should have invested in another Lola, in St. Paul.

Everything about Hello Pizza is spot on. We have been big fans of Pizzeria Lola for a long time, and wondered how it could be topped. Hello Pizza doesn't 'top', it compliments. We drive all the way from NE for this food, and we will continue to do so until we can successfully campaign for a Hello Pizza in our neighborhood (come on Ann Kim - please head NordEast or East Village!!!!). Veggie selections are great here which makes me a happy girl. Meat options are great here, which makes my guy happy. Shared, we had one great lunch! Pizza was OUTSTANDING, my new favorite in Minneapolis. Fresh, light, tasty, well matched ingredients. Salad options have been noted for my return visit. Really enjoyed the casual neighborhood pizza joint vibe with a flair of the now, and then (disco ball). I also always note at many restaurants how there is gross food stuck on the walls, especially if they are kid friendly ~ well HP thought about that by cleverly putting wipeable panels on the walls. Even the place where they store the pizza boxes is clever (behind the menu board). And of course, there is a photo booth. Good pizza, good beer selection, good times. I'll be bringing my family here when they come to visit from SoCal this Summer. And we will definitely be back for slices and take out pies. Now....I think there are some lovely spots in NE Ann Kim...think about it. This concept is definitely ripe for siblings! PLEASE, pretty PLEASE!

This places is delicious! Simple menu and fun atmosphere. My husband and I took our son here for his first bday dinner. It was great that even for dinner we could buy by the slice, enjoy a beer on top then take some pics in the photo booth to remember our sons bday dinner and capture the great time we had. Love this place and will be coming back over and over again!

Great pizza, if you get more than couple of slices you should just buy an entire pizza.

FINALLY! Finally. We've found decent pizza in Minneapolis. This shop is small, kid friendly, and awesome. They seemingly tapped into my playlist and played all of my favorite hits. But the best part...the Pizza. These guys know how to do pizza. We've tried many pizza shops since we moved to the cities and have begun to think that edible pizza was unobtainable here. The sauce, delicious. The crust, awesome. The cheese...well, the kids and I loved it but the man thought it was a bit much and overly chewy but he's a picky dude. We also tried the Meatball Sub. Do yourself a favor and try the meatball sub. It was so so good. I agree with another reviewer that it really is like magic in your mouth. Everything tasted great and the kids enjoyed the choice of orange fanta and cheerwine with dinner. We all had a great time and left with full bellies.

I gave Hello Pizza another try because the owner reached out personally and asked me to! I took my son the other Sunday and it has improved in some area's! I believe it was the manager who was working the counter on that Sunday, tall guy...was less than friendly. Took my order, no real personality there or excitement that I was at the restaurant! My son got the pepperoni pizza and I got the Korean Cowboy Sub. So I will say the Pizza was much better than my previous experience, still not a favorite pizza in the area but I can see us stopping by again for Pizza when we are in the neighborhood. The Korean Cowboy was Good little too much heat for me but the bread was perfect for the sub so if you are into trying something different and don't feel like Pizza I would say give it a try! We also got a Caesar Salad, wasn't a fan the dressing was way to sweet for me and lacked that "classic Caesar" taste! Again I appreciate that the owner took the time to reach out to me and regain me as a customer for that and her honesty I will be back!

Have been a fan of Pizzeria Lola (same owners as Hello Pizza) since they opened but don't go there too often because the wait can be pretty long at times and when I am in the mood for pizza I don't want to wait. My wife and I tried Hello Pizza recently and were very well pleased. We had a slice of the trinity, the Sicilian, and the special (meat balls and mozzarella). All were great. The crusts were excellent as were the toppings. Quality is well above the ordinary. Service was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

I found myself in Edina and thought I would check out Hello Pizza, of which I've read really good reviews. What a disappointment. I didn't have high hopes for the gluten-free pizza my husband and I ordered (he is gluten sensitive and on the advice of his doctor avoids it) and found the crust way too crunchy and brown. So I got in line again and ordered the classic cheese, thinking I needed to give HP a full shot with their regular crust. It reminded me of the frozen pizza I made in the oven back in the dark ages when I was a teenager, pre-micro wavetables (not that I want to remember that). I've had NY pizza at John's on Bleecker street and this is nowhere near that. Not even close. The crust was overdone, the cheese was soaked into the crust to the point I couldn't tell the difference between either one. A big MEH. I do have to say the wait staff were very nice.

I've been to Hello Pizza several times and have had a number of the usual varieties and specials. I have also had the soft serve quite a few times. I will not go back for the pizza again, though I would eat it and enjoy it to some extent if somehow it was in front of me. I definitely prefer Broder's pizza Rosa to the similar pizza I had at Hello tonight. Last time my daughter and I had the Hello Rita, and maybe it was kind of old or something, but, in our views, it had nothing to recommend it. I have liked Margheritas at Punch and elsewhere. The soft serve, however, with or without the toppings, is outstanding. It tastes like ice cream made in a churn at home. Unfortunately the machine was broken so no ice cream tonight. We will be back for it though.

This is some quality pizza. I couldn't pass up the special which was spinach & artichoke with a white sauce. I splurged for the $4.50 slice, but if I was hungrier two slices would have cost me a whopping $9. Remember: " thin crust" means less calories/less filling even if it is a wide slice. I can't speak to the authenticity, but they do state on their site that it's "inspired" by the NYC style rather than claiming to be a NYC pizza joint plopped down on the Mpls-Edina border. I do know that my taste buds were happy, but next time I'll probably have more of an appetite and go for a simpler, cheaper slice of pie so that I'm out just $6 and some change for a couple slices to form a pizza sandwich and stuff my face.

Disappointing maddening changes at Hello Pizza. We go there often, for a few reasons. It's good, & we can each get what we like. That's the magic. NO MORE. New- Only 5 pizzas by the slice (2 meat, 2 cheese, 1 special) If you don't like plain cheese or the doughy plain Sicilian & you are a veg, you are Out. Of. Luck. If you want the Hello Rita, simple basic fresh mozzarella basil & tomato, you are OUT OF LUCK. You can gaze thru the glass at a 18" Hello Rita, but you can't have any. 12" or 18" whole pie ONLY. FAIL.

Stopped in for late lunch last week and shared the korean meatball sandwich and the daily pizza slice with my out of town visitor. The artichoke pizza which was split for us on separate plates was nice and hot, packed with flavor and very tasty, both the crust and toppings were on point. We read mixed reviews about the meatball sandwich so were very curious to try it. Very pleasantly surprised, both the baguette and the meatballs were SUPER yummy definitely exceeding our expectations. Staff was so friendly, great dine in experience overall.

The Sicilian is probably my favorite pizza in the Twin Cities. Simple but delicious. The veggie is great too. I don't understand all the low scores because every slice I've had from here has been amazing.

I opted for the featured special - Sausage and Peppers pizza by the slice. I decided to go for one slice - it was $4.50. I was hoping to add a salad but didn't want to spend more than $10 for lunch and those were all $7.50. The pizza was great and I loved everything about it, but it was just a bit too small. On the other hand I think two slices would have been too much. Same thing with the salads - some of my table mates did order a salad, but they were too big for a side salad but not enough for an entree. The dining area was very small and I would definitely recommend getting there early so your whole group can sit together!

  • Shadow G.

I wouldn't necessarily say I didn't like my pizza but I definitely wouldn't say I loved it either. We ordered an 18" with pepperoni & mushroom and found the pepperoni's to be very bland, bummer! Pepperoni is my favorite, I order it almost every time, it's a pretty easy topping to get right especially when they've gone through so much trouble to find a quality sausage. They may excel at the fancier pizzas, another guest at our table got one with sausage and said it was tasty but they've failed at the simple bare bones ol' pepperoni pizza.

Trinity and Rita are awesome. Big slice, tasty sauce, great crust.

  • Tully M.

Very boring pizza. Bland sauce, tasteless crust and I think they forgot to put pepperoni on my slice. the other slices were just as weak on the toppings. Took almost 30 minutes to get 3 slices. For the price I'd rather order from one of the local joints who have better tasting pizzas and faster service. I won't eat at Lola after two visits and two very boring pizzas. I won't be giving this place another try.

Nice having a pizza place in this area where you can just get a slice. The pizza itself is pretty good, but nothing special. I like the Sicilian slices the best. Definitely worth going to if you just want to grab a quick bite for lunch.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
