I had the lunch buffet today. Very limited selection, and though what I had was decent enough, I can't justify the $13 it cost me. I won't be going back.

Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. Prices are a little higher than other restaurants, but the portions are humungous. Atmosphere is nice and does not fit the "mall restaurant" image I had in my head before eating here. Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Grand Duke Beef we're delicious, as were the Cream Cheese Wantons. The Dumplings were so-so. We agreed that the wrapping was too thick and took away from the flavor of the meat inside. Still though, GM is a solid choice for good Chinese. Note: Our waitress was kind of odd, but was very accommodating. Let's just say he was VERY serious about his job lol. Quick service though.

Lunch buffet was just ok. Seemed like mostly fried foods. We had a hard time getting refills, even on waters. It was pretty empty, should have been our first clue.

Great Chinese in a mall? Unbelievable. I'd of five starred it if only there'd been "combo" dinners available. The chicken was all white meat. The oil was fresh. The service was amazing. There was a full bar and football on screens. A great place to go after a long day shopping :)

This is one of (if not the) favorite Chinese restaurant in the twin cities area. The lunch buffet is not very good though ( as one might expect). Order off the menu and the food is wonderful. I especially like the beef chow fun as it is better than any place I have ever had it.

I had the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was ok, the fried rice was not so good. The real reason for the low rating is that there were a bunch of little flying bugs flying around our food as we ate. And there was a woman walking around the restaurant with an electric fly swatter trying to kill them....while people were eating. It was so disgusting. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

I use to live in Eden Prairie now I live in Prior Lake. I make excuses just to go to Eden Prairie so I can go to the Great Mandarin! I have eaten at many chinese restaurants and no other rest. in the metro area beats the Great Mandarin. Everything is good, everything!

Delicious food and the entire staff is incredibly friendly. I have been coming here for years and have not found a better Chinese restaurant. My favorite is the sesame chicken.

I can only say positive things the Great Mandarin. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service is fantastic. The owner of the restaurant is friendly and incredibly generous! It is always such a pleasure to chat with him. The portions are extremely generous and the food is the best Chinese food I've ever had. My personal favorite is the seasame chicken and fried green beans with fried rice. Everything on their menu is delicious, so you can't go wrong with any of it. It is also encouraged to eat family-styled because the portions are big enough to split. They are also very kind and cater very well with larger groups that choose to dine-in. You can also do carry-out, which is another bonus!

We stopped here for a business meeting. The atmosphere was relaxed, easy to talk, great food and service was amazing. Looking forward to going back and enjoying entrees soon.

I've heard a lot of good things and even checked yelp before going here. Sadly I was HIGHLY disappointed. When walking in with my 2 daughters (5 & 2yr old) and my fiancé no one was around to great us. I pointed to the buffet and before I could ask if it was available now (it looked like it was being closed but still a lot of food out so I wasn't sure) the guy quickly said "no no you can't do that". So we said we will sit and dine. That was our greeting? I almost wanted to leave but again I heard so many good things so we continued on. It was a clean place and fairly quite is why I gave it 2 stars. I ordered schezwan chicken which was labeled as a spicy item. I love spicy food. My kids for chicken fried rice. My fiancé got some sampler platter. Mine was very plain with no spice at all. My fiancé didn't like a thing on his plate! So he ate fried rice with my kids. No kids menu and my kids drank water out of a cup with a beer logo on it. I get there is a mini sports bar in there (which I didn't know until we got there) but really? Kids n cups promoting beer? Not so great idea. Lucky for them they have no idea what it means. We barely saw our waiter n it was dead in there! The food was $15 a plate for majority of the stuff. You get quite a bit of food but nothing was good expect the rice! I won't be back.

Took a chance on this place and regret it. Didn't have high expectations, just looking for decent food.... They did not deliver. Atmosphere was what I expected, but the table seemed gross. The beef and broccoli is a major no no.... Was it even beef? The sweet and sour chicken was so-so, but didn't feel so hot after eating there. I would have considered 2 stars, but the prices were way too high as well.

this place is absolutely disgusting! if you are comfortable with seeing the word "mayonnaise" listed on a chinese restaurant menu then, by all means, go there. but if you are actually from this planet and you have any self-respect, do not go anywhere near this place! the restaurant is worn, the food is inconsistent and sometimes gross. please don't misunderstand my review... i don't dislike this place. i hate everything about this place! "mayonnaise?!?" what are they thinking?!?!?!

Not bad considering it's in a mall. For Chinese food, it's a bit on the high end for cost. I guess that is to be expected in Eden Prairie. The food was actually not bad. I ordered lo mein and it had a nice smokey wok taste. It want too salty but I was impressed by service. My water was constantly full and enthusiastic staff was checking in frequently. The menu is definitely more Americanized Chinese. I'll give the buffet a try.

I grew up going to this restaurant, back when it was on the top level of the EP Mall. Don't be fooled because it's inside a mall, this food is by far the best and chinese food in Minnesota. Every time I come to visit home from Los Angeles I ALWAYS come here. My family is very good friends with the owner and Tony and Ha are the nicest people ever. Where to start...As far as appetizers go, I love their cream cheese wontons & egg rolls, but the best thing to eat is their Pu Pu Platter. It has a sample of everything. I LOVE their hot and sour soup, it's so good and Tony makes everything from scratch! When it comes to main entree I love the cashew chicken with Toni's secret hot chili sauce. So good! But also love the honey walnut shrimp; it's sweet and savory. I always get fried rice with my meal too, it's the best. If you're on a budget though I'd suggest the buffet at lunch, you can get a sample of everything and it's decently priced for the quality. All the servers are very friendly and accommodating. I will always be a fan of this restaurant and will always come back! Great job Tony!!!

Great Chinese food, full bar and happy hour from 3 to 6. I can't vouch for the lunch buffet because I avoid them. Order off the menu and you won't be disappointed. Try the Triple Grand Duke and Young Chow fried rice!

2.5 stars. I'm particularly picky about Chinese so I might be harsher than most. We had to do a quick lunch and the guys that work at my client's company sure seemed to enjoy it. Pretty average food and since it was a buffet it didn't help the cause. Service was friendly and prompt however.

If you're in EP- go. The food is amazing. The dishes are big, and come with a large amount of rice, so if you aren't a really heave eater, be prepared to split! When I went with just two, we ordered cream cheese wontons, steamed pot stickers, seasame chicken, and fried rice. The seasame chicken is the best I've ever had. The prices aren't ridiculously expensive once you account for the fact that you are splitting it, but it's still not "take out" prices. The owner is very sweet, but some of the servers barely speak English. That being said, the food outweighs it all!

We were drawn in by the all-you-can-eat buffet - $10 for all-you-can-eat lunch. Its a good value for lunch, but the food was really average, I thought. I got a cup of the wonton soup, and it was really average...and not much to it. The manager was very friendly and welcoming, but our server was really confusing and didn't communicate well. I wouldn't go back.

Excellent service and food. This was our first time eating at the restaurant and the server was very helpful with picking out items for us. The cream cheese wontons, egg rolls and spring rolls are great appetizers. We also had the Lemon Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and another dish which contained shrimp, beef, chicken and mixed vegetables in a brown sauce. All dishes were great but the mixed meat and vegetable dish was outstanding. I enjoy going to a restaurant where the server pays attention to your needs and keeps the mood enjoyable for the kids and our server did just that. He even made "homemade" cheaters for the kids and their chop sticks. We went to this restaurant because of the reviews on yelp and I have to say the people were right on, this is some of the best Chinese food we have had in a long time.

We love this place. It's not the best Chinese food I've had but I no longer live in that state so this is much closer, haha. We frequent the lunch buffet. The service is good and the food is more than decent.

This review is based on two different trips to the restaurant for the lunch buffet. My advice: skip it and go to some of the other Chinese restaurants in the area. None of the food looks or tastes like it was actually made fresh, it all tastes like it came out of the back of the Asian Kitchen delivery truck/Schwann's truck. This is just another place that serves dip fried chicken nugget chunks with bright red canned sweet & sour sauce dumped on it. My experience today was probably the worst. The majority of the food on the buffet was cold and all had a skin on top of it. When we told the manager that the food was cold, he nodded and said the buffet steamers were just being turned on now. This was at noon, well into the lunch service. The food appeared to have been sitting there for a long time. Maybe ordering off the menu is a different experience, but I don't think I'm going to go back a third time to try it. I'm baffled by the people that say this is the best Chinese food they have ever had. Send me an email and I can suggest about 10-20 places that I can recommend you try for a comparision.

They are by far my favorite Chinese restaurant! The service is insanely good quality, fast, nice, and the family that owns the business genuinely care about their customers. The food is delicious and although it's somewhat expensive, you get enormous portions for the money! The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable, truly a five star Chinese restaurant, but with a family owned attitude!

My wife and I eat here about once a month. The service is consistently fast and friendly. I recommend the schezwan green beans. It is a great side dish to split. The best green beans ever. Ask for Dan, he is the most friendy of the waiters. My wife loves the Sesame Chicken and I usually get one of the many shrimp dishes. the Sweet and Sour Shrimp is overly-breaded. We also like their egg rolls.

I went here with a large party celebrating a family function. We had three large rectangular tables, and were served family style as my aunt had chosen the menu ahead of time. Overall the food is pretty good. It reminds of a nicer fast food place, but not the type of food you would find in a China-town city. There is a bar inside as well but we did not explore that section. The staff is nice and attentive as well, so that is always a plus.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
