What a great little find! I found this place on yelp when we were in Duluth over the 4th of July. It's small and very eclectic inside - think Grammas kitchen meets Chinese decor... But who cares what it looks like when the food was AMAZING! I had Swedish pancakes which were sooo good. My husband's omelet was huge - filled him up. Service was very friendly and cheerful. I would go here again, and for sure recommend it to others... (at least for breakfast since that's all I had there....)

Um... Well... This place is pretty average if not below. I was surprised at the high rating. While the service was friendly and inviting, the food was quite lacking. I got the Swedish meat balls, which were quite bland, and the potatoes clearly came from a powder. I was generally quite disappointed. There was also a crazy man talking to us throughout the meal which was unwelcome. It seems like this could be a cute little cafe if only they invested more in the products and ingredients.

The name "Sun Shine Cafe" says it all; unbelievably friendly service and environment. Decor is a bit of a mishmash, but it is homey nonetheless. Prices of the omelets are reasonable, but sides can add to your tab quickly. Menus are cutely decorated and have a pretty large selection of breakfast items along with a few lunch options. The daily specials are posted on the wall on the left. Parking is on the street, but no meters to mess with so it is hassle free. Omelets are what make this place great. I wouldn't come for the pancakes alone, but the omelets are packed with vegetables and meats (if you so choose), and they are served with two slices of bread; all of which are sure to fill you up in the morning. I tried the gyro omelet which was filled with lamb, feta, and vegetables and served with a side of tzatziki sauce. A little diner-ish in that the baked goods such as bread and cinnamon rolls aren't made in house and jam and jelly are store-bought individual containers, but the restaurant is super clean and the service as I mentioned is very welcoming. The waitress seemed to know many of the patrons' names and was happy to be at work.

We always have a breakfast here when visiting Duluth. I've only ever had the Swedish pancakes. Yummy! Friendly staff.
