I may be the only Minnesotan who thinks this but.... Sammy's pizza is not the BEST pizza in the entire world. The owners are nice but the staff isn't all that friendly---- at any location. And every time I'm dragged there (against my will, for another family function) the place is always dirty. So forgive me, but I'd rather have pizza from VIP or buy my own frozen pizza.

I grew up eating pizza from Sammy's... Always raving about it and craving it when I would be away from Duluth. If family was in town we would (and still do) without question go to Sammy's. It's great for big groups, pictures of beer, lots of pizza to share and they are always very helpful and friendly. Delivery lately hasn't been up to par though... (that's why they don't get 5 stars from me) many times they throw on way too much cheese, or the crust isn't quite right. I will say this isn't always the case though. Maybe 1 out of 4 times am I left a bit disappointed. But because I am a long time lover of Sammy's I will give it the benefit of the doubt (they have been more than excellent for most of my life), but if you can - I say go in and order a pizza at the restaurant. Seems like you can't go wrong there. The cheesy garlic bread is a great way to start out!

Best pizza I have ever had. Perfectly spiced sauce with delicious mozzarella cheese. The crust is what separates Sammy's from the pack. It is hand tossed right in front of you and then the crust is crimp folded. If you don't like thin-crust pizza, then this is not your place. I went to school in Duluth for several years and I have had hundreds of these pies. If your a tourist, don't even mess around with any other delivery options. The owners are the original Sammy's grandchildren. They are Italians that live and breathe pizza. This is a wonderful family owned joint with secret family recipes that have been handed down for generations.

Ate here for lunch while in town on business. Sat down and had the lunch buffett, which is a salad bar, bread and a variety of pizza pies. The assortment includes hamburger, cheese, pepperoni and sausage. The pizza is typical chain-type pizza with a thin crust. Better than the national chain pizzas but not gourmet.

Sammy's is definitely a family tradition. My Grandparents have been coming here since the original Sammy's first opened. This is my favorite Sammy's location. Great thin-crust pizza cut in squares. Definitely a great place to stop when visiting Duluth. The pepperoni pizza is very good and so is the garlic cheese bread with marinara dipping sauce. The vegetables are generally crisp and fresh if you are in the mood to add some fresh peppers to your pizza. Quite a few people in my family would also recommend the beef and onion pizza.... which is good every once in awhile. Maybe order one of each and switch off between the two.

I ordered from Sammys Downtown location. I have been a life long Sammys customer and that has changed after the horrible service and poor quality food I received. They screwed up my order and said they would be right back with the missing food items. It was almost an hour later and I had to call to ask where it was. They said they couldn't send it out until they had another delivery to go with it. The lady on the phone was really rude, I got my missing items and they were ice cold and tasted horrible. Threw them away. The standards are not what they used to be. Sam Perella would not be happy with the quality and service that his second oldest store was giving. I am very unhappy with the overall service and quality of the food. Not sure they can win me back after this one.

I have to update my review of Sammy's downtown. I found myself (once again) craving a Sammy's pie while staying at the Holiday Inn. I decided I would tell whoever answered the phone my tale of woe of how three times in a row they had delivered me sorry excuses for a Sammy's Pizza but I was giving them once last chance to deliver me the pie of my dreams. And they did! They're back in my good graces. For now.

my wife and i love coming up to duluth and when we have stayed at the holiday inn, we walk right down for some pizza. we've had the house special pizza twice. there's a lot of toppings so it's hard to pick up so we sometimes eat it with a fork and a knife. nothing wrong with that. it lacked salt with having the beef on the pizza (we thought it was slices of beef but it's ground beef instead) but after adding some salt on it, it tasted perfectly fine. we've also had the side salad and the spaghetti before. it's one of those, you seat yourself kind of place. the prices are reasonable. what's cool is that you can see them making the pizza dough right inside and outside the restaurant. my wife has heard great things about this place from people she knows, especially their lunch buffet during the week. unfortunately, we've never made it on time to duluth for that but we recommend going here at least once or who knows, maybe more than that.

Northern Minnesotans love their Sammy's, started in Hibbing Minnesota decades ago, and now spreading across the Upper Midwest. Ultra thin crust, some locations also offer buffets and 'broasted chicken'. A must stop for pizza fans, and Duluth natives home for a visit.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
