I think this restaurant is way too under rated! I love the food here. Great atmosphere.... Good service. The new canal location is also awesome. I always get the chicken, avocado sandwich and it's always fresh. My only complaint is there aren't a lot of healthy options....... But who really wants to eat healthy when they go out?!

We are in Minnesota, so folks tend to rate 'Minnesota nice'. Let's call it what it is: an over priced, Sysco-fed, north woods wannabe restaurant that should just be a bar. This is bar food. It's a step above fast food, but that's it. Nice folks (it is MN after all), but if this is 'average' then I don't want to know what 'bad' is. Don't let the "WoodFired" bit fool you, I help run a WoodFired operation (which is why I was drawn in) and this does NOT do a wood fired oven justice. Disappointed. Edit- coincidentally popped into another Grizzlys location with friends... Stick with the burgers and beer. Also- add some vegetables to the menu!

Good service, food so so - pass on the shrimp (it's not a seafood place), Killer sweet potatoe! Std. bar fare, nothing exciting but prompt friendly service. A little dirty.

Had a steak sandwich and it was the worst! Had to spit out every bit because it was all fat and gristly They screwed up my husbands order 3 times and the fourth time we told them it was still wrong we gave up. Service sucked! Slow waitress! When we tried to get her attention she would look the other way! Will never go back! .

Had the most awesome waitress there the other night...not to mention the amazing food! Had the sirloin with chicken breast. Was so full that i took the chicken home to eat the next day. It was very delish! Hubby had the mango habanero ribs and they were very good. Hot....and falling off the bone. I would highly recommend it. Not a super fancy place but loved the food.

In all fairness this review should have been posted about 2 years ago. The place is nice, the service was nice. Food gave me the drizzly's if you know what I mean. When I go back home to Minnesota, I dont give this place a second chance. No more Drizzlys for me!!!.

Stopped at the Mall location in Duluth. The parking lot is small, and difficult to find a spot, even though there were not a lot of patrons inside. We were seated promptly and given enough time to peak at the menu. We ordered the egg roll appetizer. They were good, very crispy , however, not a lot of flavor. Both of us had burgers, and we were both disappointed. My burger was supposed to have a "slab" of cheddar and candied style bacon. The cheese was a slice off a brick of cheese you get at the grocery store, 1"x3"...and no flavor. The bacon was a disappointment also. Not only did it not have a candied flavor... It had no flavor at all. Both burgers were over done and dry. I should have known when we ordered, they did not ask how we wanted the burgers prepared. I'm making a mental note that not asking that question means over cooked! The waiter was not prompt at returning to the table during the meal, and we needed to ask for a coffee refill. Overall , I would not waste my $45 lunch budget on a Grizzlys again.

Stopped in for an early (5:00) dinner on a Saturday night. I had their fish tacos at the Plymouth location a few months earlier, and thoroughly enjoyed them. However, the ones at this location fell remarkably short. The tortillas were stale, and crumbled in my hand. The fish was tough to find and the overall taste was lackluster. The service was about as good as the food. Our server didn't ask what side I wanted, and just gave me a side of fries. When I asked if there was anything else, such as fruit, she came back with a small bowl of grapes. The grapes were good, but looked kind of odd by themselves - no stems. Looked like the ones at the bottom of the bag! Decor was trying to be woodsy, and had a few fish on the wall along with a stuffed bear. The bear must have fallen over a few times, as the fingers were broken off and poorly glued back into place.

This review isn't just limited to the Duluth Grizzly's - it applies to every single Grizzly's that I've been to, which unfortunately, is all of them (I think?). Let's start by saying the positive - there are worse places in the area that you could eat at than Grizzly's (Applebee's, anyone? Ish). That being said... Grizzly's makes their name on their wood-fired food. Let me tell you what - every single dish that has this "wood fired" descriptor certainly does not disappoint. All you taste is smoke. Want some wonderful wood-fired chicken? How about a mouth full of smoke instead? In the mood for some sort of BBQ dish? Hope that you're ready for some bland meat smothered in terrible and overpowered tasting sauce. The only positive experience that I have ever had at a Grizzly's was that I ordered rotisserie chicken once and it was moister than I expected. That, and their beer selection is better than some other places. I try to avoid going to this chain as much as possible.

With a dozen locations in the Upper Midwest, Grizzly's has opened their 3rd location in the Duluth Superior area, in the Canal Park tourist zone by the lake front. The former location of Hell's Burgers has been completely remodeled, enlarged, with a new bar and sound-deadening dividers to make for a more pleasant dining experience. Featuring a full range of wood-fired entrees and sandwiches, Grizzly's menu probably has something for everyone. Minnesota burger reporter Kawikamedia and his posse checked out the opening, and ordered the Kodiak Burger, and the ribs and chicken. All were met with applause, and their taste buds were teased by the smoky aroma that fills the 'hood. The Kodiak is described on the menu as "for those who dare," a full pound of fresh ground beef, thick slab bacon, fried onions, aged cheddar, lettuce and tomato. For their choice of sides, they went with the seasoned fries. When I was a sprout, the Canal Park area was home to heavy industry. Now it's home to any manner of places for heavy eating. A good change.

M & I are big fans of rotisserie/wood fire restaurants, so we sought one out on our way through Duluth this past weekend. After making the trek through the road construction and up the hill to the Miller Hill Mall, we finally found the wood-fired oasis that is Grizzly's. The thing that I like about Grizzly's menu is that unlike similar restaurants, most of their meat (including the burgers, steak and pork) are wood-fired. Other places it seems like it is often just the chicken and your wood-fired entrees are limited. I decided to go with the combo fajitas, although when served to me they only had chicken, but I decided I didn't want to wait for a replacement. It was kind of disappointing because I had ordered grilled chicken with the wood-fired steak, so when I got just chicken I didn't even get to try the wood-fired meat I was so looking forward to :( M went with the Diablo Trio only sans shrimp, so I guess it would be considered a "Diablo Duo". I sampled it, and we both thought it was very tasty. The anouille sausage was a bit of a strange texture, but the flavor was good. The serving was big enough that if we ever go here again, I think we could split the pasta and still both be fully satisfied! Our service was great, with the exception of the error on my order. When the check came, I noticed that "combo fajitas" was listed on the bill so our server entered it correctly, but the kitchen failed to execute. He adjusted the bill accordingly, and we were on our way. There was nothing super outstanding about this place compared to other wood-fire grills (like Doolittles in the Twin Cities). But if you like wood-fired food, it's likely your best option in Duluth. As a side note, you can join their email list on their website and get a free appetizer coupon sent to you within minutes. We were staying at a resort with no printer access, so we couldn't print it out. I had hoped I could show it via email on my phone, but they wouldn't accept it in that form. Kind of a bummer, but oh well. So, be sure to print out your coupon!

We stopped at Grizzly's for a beer last month on our trip to Duluth. Decent beer selection (especially compared to Grandma's and Old Chicago a few blocks away) and the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. The guacamole and chips were very fresh and tasty though lacking a little in salt. All in all, I'd go back again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The wood fire grill is a spectacle as you walk in. I was immediately convinced I had to try their rotisserie chicken....turns out it was a good choice! The half chicken was a large portion, well seasoned, and very moist. Came with a tangy vinegar-flavored BBQ sauce on the sauce, which I really enjoyed. Fries were crisp, salty, and delicious. Dinner salad was adequate, just what I was expecting. All this for $12.99! The service here was especially friendly and prompt. Atmosphere was typical of the lodge-style bar scene. Looked like they had plenty of good beer on tap (e.g. Bells, Tallgrass). If you're by the mall or Enger Golf Course and don't want to drive into town, def worth stopping in.

Good basic american food, burgers, wings and the likes. The prices are OK, TGIF, Applebee's and Chili's range. The service was OK as well but not very enthusiastic. Came in here for diner at 9 pm and it felt like we were holding back the closing, despite the fact that it was supposed to still be open for several hours.

Cool cabin interior. Great wing specials! Will go back. The food was much better than your average chain restaurant. Wood fired chicken. Great place to take a bigger group.

Neat place the way it is decorated and the meats are are cooked out in the open over a wood fire. I had their Steak and it just wasn't seasoned enough. Steak should be eaten without and added flavor enhancer and this one fell short. Service lagged a little behind too on getting back to us.
