It's sickening how much this place does a Jekyll & Hyde routine over the course of a year. I used to go there because I felt like it had one of the best bars in touristy Canal Park. That was during the "off season". Went back during the summer and you would swear I had just rolled in fresh feces. Tourist are DEFINITELY the preferred choice and they get SELECTIVE amnesia about all the damn $$$ and tips you've left and act like you're scum. Hypocrisy at it's ugliest. Gah.

Green Mill is one of my 'go to' places when I stay in Duluth. Why? Good cold tall beers in my favorite flavors, pretty darn good deep dish pizza, and outstanding cheap apps during both early and late night happy hours. I'm generally traveling alone when on business so I always belly up to the bar and I always get excellent service. If you're looking for a singular dining experience then go to another town.

I am of the opinion that Green Mill as a company is in need of a serious face lift. This location is a perfect illustration of this. Dark, tired and stale in an otherwise pretty vibrant part of Duluth.

My trip to Duluth ended on a delicious note. My group of three walked in and were greeted my the hostess and promptly seated. Although we sat in the back of the restaurant, our waitress was wonderful. Our food came out quickly, she refilled our beverages, and even brought me honey for my tea. I understand that Green Mill is a chain restaurant but the food was still good. After a long day exploring Duluth, I decided on the Desert Fire Pasta. It was delicious! The shrimp were succulent and not over cooked. There was a nice kick of spiciness. The sauce wasn't overly heavy because of the Parmesan cheese. Sadly I didn't order any pizza despite it being a specialty at Green Mill.

I had a late dinner at the Green Mill while on a weekend trip to Duluth. Our server was really great. My cosmo was chock full of booze (I think the vodka was locally distilled too), the salad I shared with a friend was absolutely delicious, and three out of four of their wing sauces were gluten free! I was a happy camper. The Jim Beam sauce was my favorite. I could have eaten a platter of those wings. I've been thinking of them ever since. The place was empty, on a Saturday night, which I thought was strange, but Duluth isn't exactly party central, so maybe everyone had gone to bed already. It was really dim in there, and it felt...old. And generic. It reminded me of going to family friendly chain restaurants as a kid, in the 80s and early 90s. But that didn't really bother me. It was clean, so who cares? I'd certainly go again.

I look forward to Green Mill when I head to Minnesota and this was the worst one Ive ever been to. Prom was going on and instead of taking care of other tables, refills were ignored and food took forever and came out cold. Made the mistake of asking for it to be replaced, no apology and it took another 15 minutes to get it.

Absolutely love this place. Always my first choice when going to eat in Duluth, MN. The wings here are right up there with the best I've had. They have excellent choices in sauces, like the extreme Jamaican, Jim Beam, and Parmesan Garlic. (just some of my faves) Pizza speaks for itself here, it is excellent, however I can't quite pull myself away from my favorite meal here, the Tortellini... Amazing smoked prosciutto, healthy portions of mushrooms, an excellent cream sauce, and mouth watering tortellini. So good. Definitely check out this place, especially around 9 or 10pm for their late night happy hour, great deals.

Average pizza. The garlic, spinach and marinated tomatoes is solid. Tends to get better the more beer you drink- so bottoms up......

Love the food here. I've never had a bad experience. This is always my first choice for wings & drinks. I've had get-togethers & parties here and the staff has always been great. And the pizza here is better than Old Chicago! Way better!

I would give 4 stars for the food and 2 stars for the service. I was there last week and didn't tip them for the following reasons - my kid didn't get an activity kit/kids menu. We didn't get the complimentary bread basket with our pasta. And despite bringing it to their attention, they didn't seem too keen on giving it to us (as to go). Dear Manager, you may now why we didn't tip!!

we've been here twice for happy hour when up here in duluth. the bar area is always packed but we always manage to find a table which is great. because it's busy, service can be slow. the last time we were there, we ordered onion rings, the coconut chicken fingers and the three cheese & chipotle chicken nachos. my wife ordered a strawberry margarita. she wasn't too impressed with the drink but drank it anyways. why let it go to waste. the nachos was different. definitely not your typical nachos but it was very good. will get that the next time around. but how great to see everyone in the bar area just happily enjoying themselves and cheering on the wilds.

We were seated right away which was nice for a Saturday dinner time in Duluth, MN. The wait staff was very nice and fun! We ordered boneless chicken wings and a large pizza. The wings were just ok but I'm not a big fan of Buffalo sauce. The pizza on the other hand was phenomenal!!! The beer was very cold and delicious too! Fast service and very good food served by a polite and professional staff. It doesn't get much better than that!

Went here to carbo-load before the marathon last weekend. None of their pasta dishes were runner-friendly, BUT they were having an all-you-can-eat spaghetti special for $10.99. Choice of marinara or meat sauce. I got the meat sauce and it was good. The waitress was nice but seemed a bit rushed. (She was serving a rather large party next to me.) Overall, just alright.

We ordered the lamb gyro with fries and the chicken Parmesan. Who knew Green Mill would have a gyro on the menu?! It was amazing, very authentic sauce and feta cheese yum. The chicken Parmesan was battered and fried lightly with a zesty tomato sauce. Very good I definitely recommend this place!

I'm going to have to lower my rating of Green Mill to two stars after my most recent experience.... We ordered a pizza and a well done burger. The woman on the phone repeated the order correctly before completing the transaction: When the delivery finally arrived after quite a wait, the burger was almost completely pink and the pizza crust was doughy and not cooked very well at all. There were a few vegetables sprinkled here and there on the "Extreme Veggie Pizza," but was by no means extreme. Original review: Pretty good pizza and good pasta. The Desert Fire pasta is good as well as the Linguine Primavera and if you like ravioli, I would recommend the butternut squash ravioli. Unfortunately, Green Mill does not serve food as late as some other establishments in the area. It is a bummer when you have a craving for some good appetizers or pizza and you walk into Green Mill after a late night in Canal Park and you are reminded that the kitchen has already closed... forcing you to settle for somewhere else. Green Mill also offers a delivery service. I ordered some pasta recently... it arrived around 35-40 minutes after placing the order. I was super hungry and excited to eat! When I opened it up to dig in... it was a plate with the toppings (some vegetables and meat) but no pasta! I was bummed. I called to let them know about the mix-up. The woman who answered the phone put me on hold for a few minutes and then someone else came on the line and asked me to explain what happened again. I told her about the delivery I received. She said "Well that is definitely not what you ordered." She was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience. She asked what she could do to make it right. I asked if she could have someone make up some pasta and deliver it to go with my pasta toppings. She said she could do that no problem. Unfortunately, I had to wait over an hour after I called to get the pasta. By this time, it was very late and I had to sit and watch everyone else finish their meals long, long before my dinner arrived. I wish I would have just cooked up some noodles myself instead of waiting for them to be delivered. It would have been much faster. When the pasta finally arrived, the delivery man was very apologetic and said he didn't know how that could happen. He was very nice and the order was almost perfect the 2nd time... they just skimped a bit on the meat this time. It was nice and hot when it arrived. It was also delicious.

Having just arrived in Duluth for the first time,I chose to pick up a pizza to bring back to my hotel, which was right across the street. Though the main dining room was empty, the bar area was warm and cozy on a chilly, rainy night. The bartender was friendly and refilled my diet coke twice while I waited for my large Extreme Supreme pie. He also made sure I had little packets of garlic and grated cheese to accompany the to go order. These little service touches mean a lot. The pie itself was very good, though maybe not quite up to the lofty standards of a NYC pizza snob. Prices were fair. I'd return if ever in Duluth again.

Been in Duluth for 15 years now. We have gone here often, but feel place is in decline. Service is mixed. Food quality is dropping. Many smiley young people working but they lack knowledge in how to solve problems or deal with customers. They make frequent mistakes on orders and are surprised if customer upset. Seems to be no training or awareness that many other establishments have in place around customer service or could be just poor management. Whatever the cause is, each time we go, seems both food quality and customer service dropped another notch. We have eaten wings many times here though out the years, yesterday they were tough, dried out, then covered with sauce. Years ago, used to be best, very moist high quality chicken, not so any more in our experience. With staff making mistakes on every order last 3 trips and being nonchalant about fixing that with customer, disappointing. Not even a simple "sorry" Clueless staff. The parking situation is terrible, but you go anyway, as that is norm for canal park. Now with destination not worth parking hassle, moving on. We used up some Greenmill gift cards given to us yesterday. We wont be back. We had great experience at Pick Wick with wings there. Forgot about Pickwick. This longtime Greenmill customer is moving on.

Just finished dinner after a day at the Bluesfest. The food was good but....they had none of the three soups on the menu!? That could have been really irritating but, our server Libby saved the day with just her personality. She is a fantastic server! She made it a really enjoyable evening. We'll be back mainly because of Libby's efforts. The 4 star rating would be - 3 stars for the food and 5+ stars for Libby.

Over the busy Labor Day weekend, we were able to totally score a table for 10 + 2 infants as walk-ins. It was shocking, because the restaurant was busy... but yet they were able to seat us right away. The food was plenty tasty. We had a few appetizers: Cheese curds Coconut chicken strips salads And then a bunch of different entrees from Spinach tortellini, wraps, burgers... you name it. I just stuck to a basic cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese - - very, very filling! So I split it saved for later. It was really good. For the short while we waited for a table, an employee (I believe maybe a cook visiting off the clock) told us how this location won the "Best Burger" award contest in Duluth or something. They no longer have that burger on the menu, but he advised the Jalapeno Bacon thing is closest to it. So naturally we had a couple in our party try that - - and they were impressed. Server was awesome... very attentive for a large party. She was great! This restaurant ended up working out perfectly for us.... especially with a stroller for twins, the ramp inside the restaurant helped out quite a bit.

We stopped here for lunch while visiting Duluth. Another town I lived in had a Green Mill for a while before it closed and only ever had the pizza which was very good. Now I know why everyone reccommend the pizza because the wings I ordered were just OK. I ordered their Diablo (hottest) wings they had and I ended up sprinkling crushed red peppers on them to get some flavor. My wife had the shrimp summer salad which she absolutely loved. I guess I should of had the salad or pizza!

The minute I heard the name I was a bit put off. The Duluth Green Mill shares the name of a historical jazz club in Chicago where I had a less than stellar time at. I gave the Duluth spot a fair shot because surely they're not connected to the Chicago spot. I've eaten at the Green Mill once and had delivery once. My ratings vary between my two experiences. My dine-in experience was definitely a 4. My walleye sandwich was utterly delicious. The sandwich is huge and easily makes 2 or 3 meals. The waitress was friendly, the restaurant clean, and had a laid back vibe. It's nothing fancy, but the Mill doesn't market itself that way so I had no unmet expectations on that account. One of my happier memories of my dine-in experience relate to my waitress. I ordered a vodka club soda and when I inquired about the size differences that were offered my waitress was cool enough to let me know that the larger size didn't have more alcohol, but rather more club soda for a higher price. Shame on Green Mill for this, but high fives to my waitress for being honest about this. Onto my second experience. I'd give it a 3 star rating. I didn't have any issues placing my delivery order nor with delivery the itself. However, I wasn't too thrilled with the food my friends and I ordered. We had nachos, pizza eggrolls, and a mushroom cheeseburger and fries. The pizza eggrolls were pretty damn tasty, but the nachos and burger were nothing special. They were mediocre and over priced for what they were. I personally thought for the location in the country and quality of food the prices should have been 3/4 or even 1/2 of what each item cost. I'll definitely go back for the walleye sandwich and perhaps the pizza eggrolls, but that's probably it for my Duluth Green Mill experience.

Wouldn't know how the food is like. Never got served. Went in, party of 4 (2 kids) at around 4:30pm on a Saturday. Four hostesses and about 6 waitresses standing around talking about high school stuff. Got seated in the middle of the place and started to time them only after I noticed we were ignored. Waited 10 minutes (official time, not counting the time before I started timing) and left for another place. Let the manager know but she didn't seem to give a damn. I guess Duluth's economy is doing well where they don't need vacationer money. Not a problem and I'm not angry about it. It was probably going to be crappy bar food anyway. Its in a part of the touristy area so unless they REALLY f*ck things up, they'll always have walk-in business.

Having recently relocated to Duluth, MN, I tried to find a few normal things that Honolulu, HI didn't do well - like Pizza, Microbrew and grinders. Happily, Duluth has all three. My first stop for pizza is one of my old favorites from my days in Minneapolis - the Green Mill. Accepting whatever the two previous reviews said, I was there for deep dish pizza and the Green Mill delivered (well not really "delivered" in the classic sense - i picked it up myself). For those who do not know, the Green Mill servers a really good deep dish pie. Sure it's not Gino's East in Chicago or Patxis in Palo Alto - but its good. The crust is tasty and soft on the inside, the cheese is thick (and real) and the sauce comes with large chunks of tomatoes. All in all, it's a decent take on a Chicago classic (and much better than places like UNOs or Old Chicago), and it is reasonably priced (a large one topping pie was $19.00 opposed to a large Dominos pie in Hawaii which is $26.00). While it may be true that it is not the most imaginative place or that they treat tourists differently than the locals - please remember two things. 1. GM is famous because its pizza. It doesn't have to be overly imaginative, it just has to produce good pies (let CPK take care of the trendy slices). 2. Although I have not seen summer here, I understand that GM probably caters to tourists - IT IS IN CANAL PARK a.k.a. Tourist Central.

Laura P.
Green Mill. Blah. Good food and beer and whatever. But about as imaginative as a brown paper sack. The good thing about this Green Mill was that they didn't mind that I splattered blue cheese dipping sauce all over the wall behind my target when I flung a tasty chicken nugget at my friend. . . . . . and sort of missed.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

The Green Mill is one of my favorite places to go for food and happy hour. Great staff and food is always good.

Green Mill.
