I like going to this place because it's blocks from where i work and comes in handy for a few after work beers. The food is good as well. Different kinds of options on the menu that you dont see at most places.

Stopped here for a beer during their happy hour which goes from 3pm-6-pm. I tried the Trader IPA and it was really good. 22oz IPA for $3.60. Good deal.

Service was ok, I heard some talk that they were missing a server. I went against my gut feeling to order a burger and tried the fish and chips....terrible decision. Fish was over fried, extremely greasy and almost no flavor. They must have found a leftover box in the bottom of the freezer. First time there will be my last.

Had a 20% off coupon from nearby hotel....ebough incentive to check it out. Saw the menu on-line and they offer a wild rice burger, so I gave it a shot!! The burger rivals the Fitgers wild rice burger and much closer. Good beer battered onion rings too. Nice, attentive waitress/bartender and several local brews on tap. Pretty slow happy hour crowd, but it is Monday afterall. Worth a return visit.

We went for lunch on a quiet Sunday. The sirloin on the Sirloin Salad was juicy and tasty, but the rest of the salad was uncooked vegetables that were rather plain. The beer selection was great! I tried a local brown ale that I would gladly drink again. The rest of their selection was mostly Wisconsin and Minnesota beers that I had tried before and can say were well chosen. Overall: I can't recommend going for a salad, but heck... it's a pub restaurant; I'm not surprised. The meat on the salad was great, so try their burgers or BBQ. Go for the beer, and let me know if their bar nosh is good.

Decided to stop in while visiting Duluth and looking for a place for lunch. My husband and I ordered burgers and my daughter got chicken nuggets. The wait time was way too long considering there were only two other tables with people eating. Not sure what happened I am thinking the cook messed up and maybe had to start over or something because the wait was agonizing. We were happy with the burgers they were tasty and so were the fries ,but my daughters nuggets were over cooked and chewy. Our waitress was friendly and gave us cookies and apologized for the wait as she must have sensed our irritation. If it wasn't for this and at least part of our food being good I would have given a two. Perhaps there was a mix up or just an off day for the cooking dept but not sure if would ever return.

To start with the good: one member in our party had the black and blue burger and enjoyed it- he gives the burger a 4/5. Another had the Western burger - 4/5. I had the grilled chopped chicken salad. The description made the salad sound delicious (with cilantro and chipotle buttermilk dressing); however, the salad had NO cilantro and the dressing was tasteless. It seemed like a watered down cheap ranch. I had another person in my party try it and he agreed it was tasteless. The lettuce and tomatoes were past their prime. We also had onion rings as an appetizer. They were delicious, but for $9.99, we were expecting more than 8 onion rings! So if you go, just get a burger, and if you want more than 8 onion rings, you will have to pay $18 for 16! The service was fine. It was 4:30 on a Saturday night - there were not many people in the restaurant. It is locally owned, so that is a reason to go and enjoy a local beer and a burger.

I went to GB's last night for the first time with a few friends for our weekly "humpday" gathering. The decor is pretty standard, and the lighting was a little dim, but overall it is a nice, casual place to eat. I was surprised that the restaurant never got busy, even though my group was there between 5:45 and 7:30 or so. They have very good happy hour and daily specials; Wednesday was half off wine for the ladies all day, which was splendid. Their menu is mainly soup, salad, and sandwiches, but there is a good mixture of other items to choose from as well. Most of their food contains yummy fresh veggies like avocado, and they switch things up by tossing things like prosciutto in their salads.Their food choices were unique, and they seem to strive to make their restaurant something different. The building was a Grandma's Restaurant before that closed, and I think G.B.'s is a big step up to that. Pricing at the restaurant is reasonable; you can get pretty cheap appetizers, and the entrees are between $7-$12 for the most part. I got the turkey burger with a side of fresh fruit (which is a free upgrade from fries), and I LOVED it. The flavor was great, and it was incredibly juicy. Wild rice was mixed in (a northern MN staple), and sprouts, tomato, and red onion were served on the side. I planned on eating only half, but that really wasn't happening after my first bite. I destroyed that thing. Our waitress was friendly even though our table seemed bent on asking her every question under the sun, and when our vouchers we had gotten online wouldn't work in conjunction with happy hour, she was very apologetic. With the mix of good pricing, great menu, private ownership, and friendly staff, I would highly recommend G.B. Schneider's.
