The design of this place was very modern and hip. But the burgers did need a little work. There was nothing really special about the burger that I ordered and the frys were very salty+soggy.

Awesome selection of beers on tap and great burgers. Not much more that you could ask for in a place like this. The weather in the summer here is conducive to tasting the long list of beers. And for those seeking old memories, you can get a Grain Belt or a Hamms. "Hamms the beer refreshing, Hamms".

The price of the food is hard to beat as burgers are around $5 with fries $2.50 extra. The beer was about what your would expect to pay for nicer taphouse beer as well. Nice spot for a cheap outing with a beer.

The beer listing is amazing!! Best variety around the Twin Ports area when it comes to craft brews. Burgers are quality, have the option if a veggie patty for vegetarians. My only gripe is there isn't a place for a toddler or infant if you try to come in with the whole family... we wound up putting the car seat with my nephew up on the table.

This place was so good the first night that we had to go back the next night. The burgers are delicious. You can get one with tater tot hotdish on it! It sounds weird, but very good. Their fries and chips are homemade and so yummy. Also, try the cheese curds with the taphouse sauce. We will be back!

Great food & great service. Love coming here during football season to watch the games. (Go Packers!) Their food is always fresh and they always have a new burger of the month. Genius! Nothing bad to say.

Being a vegetarian and going to a burgers & beer establishment concerned me a little but I was happy to see they have a veggie burger. The unfortunate part is that they charge you a $1 extra if you want the veggie burger. I ordered the one-eyed-jack and enjoyed it. The veggie burger is good, not amazing like a handmade patty from Fitger's. The pricing is very reasonable (most burgers are under $6, fries cost extra). The bun was grilled and enjoyable. All employees were friendly and a pleasure to be around. A nice atmosphere with TV's for spot watching, and the restaurant felt clean. They would have received 4 stars if they didn't charge extra for the veggie patty.

Great new restaurant in the Twin Ports area! Burgers are some of the best in town, and are without a doubt the most affordable! There's not someone to seat you, but the atmosphere of the place doesn't make it weird to just sit down at a table. Servers usually get to the table quickly, and the few I've had were very helpful and friendly. My favorite menu items are the One-eyed Jack burger and the Taphouse burger- The Taphouse is the most expensive burger on the menu at under $8. The food has been good everytime, and the speed is surprisingly fast for the quality of food. Worth the trip downtown!

Really good burgers with a good selection of topping styles. The fries and chips are housemate and are delicious. The beer cheese dip with jalapeño is tasty as well. I'm not a fan of jalapeños, however I gave this cheese a try and was pleasantly pleased. Good selection of beers to compliment the meal.

Love the tap house!! Every time I eat here I leave happy and satisfied. Tonight I tried the burger of the month for November 2014 - Wonton Burger - WOW! A cream cheese wonton burger not only sounds amazing but tastes even better. The burgers are always tasty and flavorful. Love the variety of burger toppings. The tap house sauce is quite tasty to dip the homemade (to order!) fries or chips in. Chips and fries come in different flavors too - ranch, bbq, etc. Its a smaller sized place but usually there is no trouble to find a small table. Large bar with lots and lots of beer selections! Open late

Basically they copied Big Daddy's menu and added beer. The beer was good, the food was meh and the lights were too bright. Best thing about the place- our server.

I've been to here at least 4 times. The tap house burger is my favorite. Don't get the buffalo chicken salad because it has about as much chicken as a chicken nugget (I know it's a burger place but still). Sweet potato fries are good (crispier than the French fries). Onion rings are frozen, but not horrible. The fries are not crispy, they're pretty soggy but I think that's because they're homemade. They have a few different choices of seasoning for the French fries which is nice. I've always had good service here.

Every time I head up to Duluth I hope and pray that there is a new restaurant to check out; and finally, it seems like there are a few new places opening! I went to 7 West TapHouse for lunch on a week day and I was pretty impressed. Duluth has never had a good place to go explore a large set of domestic microbrews and 7 West is the answer to that need. With 40 taps (and even a few nitros) they offer what I consider to be the best set of micro taps in town. It's unfortunate that they don't fully embrace the microbrew aura and have defiled the list with Budweiser, Michelob, Coors, and Miller. Unfortunately I think this often has more to do with the monopolistic distributor stranglehold in the area and less to do with the choice of the restaurant. The menu is filled with a variety of burgers. They also have some sandwiches and salads, but don't bother - this is definitely a burger joint! The burgers range from $3.50 - $5.50 but don't include fries or homemade chips, which are $2.29 extra. The prices are so fair that I just had two burgers. The burgers are hot, juicy, and highly enjoyable. I had the Philly burger and the Old Smokey, both of which were good. My friends raved about the One-Eyed Jack. The service was excellent. With a group of 6 and orders being made at two times, there were no mix-ups and everything was served promptly and with a smile. It's not fancy, and the atmosphere is like your average sports bar, but for the price and the selection of microbrews, you really can't go wrong.

Thought this place was going to be lame. turns out I'm an idiot. Me and my cousin were visiting from Milwaukee and decided to walk around Downtown Duluth. We passed this place thinking it would resemble and feel like a douchey bro bar establishment... But, turns out the staff is incredibly versed in their beers and we ended up having some fun in this joint... Go here... I know I am when I return

My boyfriend and I have gone to Duluth twice in the past year, and both times 7 West was our first stop. They have an AMAZING beer selection. The first time we went I was introduced to a black IPA. Have you had a black IPA? You should. For some reason, not many bars in the Twin Cities carry black IPAs. 7 West has several, along with any other type of beer you would want. The second time we went, I had another black IPA. I also had the Reuben burger. Unlike other Reuben burgers I've had, they put corned beef on top of the burger along with all the other Reuben ingredients. Even the bun was delicious; it seemed to melt in my mouth. The boyfriend got a burger with an egg on top, which he said was the best egg burger he's ever had. We split a side of fries. You can get lots of different toppings and dipping sauces. We opted for a salt and vinegar topping, which was phenomenal. Finally, the service was great. We sat at the bar and the bartender was incredibly attentive, swooping in to get our second beer order when we were 3/4 done with our first. We received our food about 5 minutes after ordering it. The cook checked on us to see how we liked our food. Attentive without being annoying. Definitely check it out.

My girlfriend and I were going to eat lunch at Pizza Luce but couldn't find any parking so we swung in here. We were both very impressed. Had a crazy selection of beers on tap and the service was excellent. Food took less than 5 minutes after ordering and had really good flavor. Everything was reasonably priced as well. We will be back. Its actually kinda cool to watch the cook make your food as well.

Newer place in town...signed up for their text alerts when they opened and I've been getting regular texts telling me about the latest beers on tap and specials. Finally made it in for lunch today. The beer selection is great and the staff is very educated and had no problem telling us about all the beers. We each had a beer and a burger. I had the Sugar Daddy, a burger with sugar bacon and cheddar cheese and opted to add a fried egg on top. While the burger was good, I felt it was a bit over cooked and seemed to me like they use frozen burger patties that you could find at any run of the mill burger place. If you're going to feature a great beer selection you need to have quality burgers that match. I'd go the full five stars if they used a fresh, hand pattied burger....the fries were good, obviously hand cut, but they were so thin that by the time they reached our table, they were not real hot and were limp. Again, they were good, but could have been so much better.... We will go back for sure and tell friends about it, but I was hoping for a little better. Go for a burger, stay for another beer.

I eat here every couple of months and I love: the beer selection, the burgers, and the chips! I hate the fries. Seriously - do not order the fries unless you like soggy fries (which I did not know whas a thing until I was telling a friend to not get the fries and she explained that she likes them that way - whaa?). There's always a new beer (or 10) to try. Service is attentive and food comes fast. The burgers are very good, but they are not the best burgers in town. I appreciate that the burgers are not a half pound of beef and wish other restaurants would take note that we don't all want giganto-burger. After trying a variety of burgers, I've settled on the somewhat plain California Burger as my go-to.

I really enjoyed 7 west. 40 taps + a few nitros and a open kitchen are all that is behind the bar. We sat at the bar and were greeted and given menus instantly. Tuesdays special was 2 pints, 2 burgers, 2 chips or fries for $20. I got the one eyed jack burger (pepper jack and a fried egg) the burger was cooked perfectly and was not over seasoned. The Cajun fries were good but I would of liked them a little more crisp. If you kill a keg, they ring a huge bell and give you a free pint glass of your choice. The menu is pretty much burgers, I will admit that I didn't look very closely at the food menu I spent much more time looking at the daily tap list. Over all I would recommend 7 west to anyone. It's quick and cheap, perfect for lunch with a buddy downtown.

An impressive selection of 40 draft beers on tap, but limited to American brands. Not a single healthy item on the menu! Essentially, it's 15 different ways to serve hamburger. Come for the beer, but leave because of the food! Fortunately, there are many other places to eat nearby.
(3)

If you came to a burger joint looking for healthy food... Eat my a$$!!!! This place rocks! 40 good beers on tap...go over seas if your looking for "high brow foreign beer" that taste like piss anyway. This is the epitome of the all American "gastropub"! Great joint, great vibe...good times.

Excellent atmosphere. We came and had just beers but the selection was amazing and they offered free samples if you weren't sure of something. You can watch the staff cooking burgers, fries and more all from your bar seat. Very clean and a well run establishment. If we weren't still full from lunch then we'd definitely eat here. Next time we're in town, we'll be sure to stop here again. Oh yeah, bathrooms are also very clean. Not sure about men but this is a must for women. Lol

I tried this place out last night for the first time and I have a mixed review. The atmosphere was ok but not great. We sat at the bar and our bartender provided great service. The first negative thing I can say is they DO NOT have ice so if you want to drink anything other than beer i.e. water with your meal you will be given a glass of water without ice! seriously really? no ice? anyway onto the food, I ordered the Smokey Joe burger which was good, it was much like a home made burger with lots of flavor. Fries and tater-chips are all ala carte for like $2.50 more. I ordered the fries because they looked good on other peoples plate/tray. I was sorrily mistaken, they were greasy and nowhere near crispy and had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. If I return I will try the chips. I am not a beer drinker so I couldn't care less about the selection which was large however.......as for Steve from Virginia saying that there was nothing healthy on the menu, DUH they claim that they are a burger and beer joint, do you really expect broccoli and tofu? geez.

The Taphouse offers a wide selection of beer on tap, and typical pub fare. As a drinker of stout and dark beer, I didn't find much on the menu of 40 taps up my alley, unfortunately - drinkers of Pale Ales and IPAs would do better. The pints are slightly pricey compared to the breweries down the streets, but that's city living I guess. The food seems decent and was blazingly fast on our last visit - under 5 minutes for burgers and fries. Not amazing food, really it seems more like a filler for between beers.

Love the beer options... but the place needs to have better ventilation. Walked in and I could taste burgers by just opening my mouth. Don't get me wrong I did order one and it was good, but I didn't want to smell like one leaving the place either.

We happened upon 7 West TapHouse for Monday Night Flights. The place has kind of a dive bar feel but had a ton of beers on tap for your connoisseur (by a ton I mean over 40, many local and craft). Since we were in Duluth on a Monday and Tuesday, a few of the local breweries were closed during our stay. 7 West TapHouse stepped in to fill the void by offering lots of local beers I knew we wouldn't otherwise get to try. We enjoyed a couple flights featuring beers from Voyageur, Bent Paddle, Lakefront, Indeed, Lake Superior Brewing and Door County Brewing -- and we didn't even make a dent in the draft list. My favorites were the Pastorial (a saison from Door County), Trailbreaker (a Belgian Wheat from Voyageur), and Sir Duluth (an Oatmeal Stout from Lake Superior). I can't speak for the food because all we had were the cheese curds. Service was a little slow, especially considering it wasn't that busy when we arrived. My 4 stars is based solely on our brief visit and beer selection. But based on that alone I would return.
I really enjoy going to 7west every time I am in Duluth! Great beer selection, simple menu with wide variety of burgers, good service, and a nice location! I have been here many times and have never had a bad experience. The only thing I did not like was there isn't really a space to wait and the place isn't too big so if you are waiting for a table you are in an awkward space between the door and tables. Also, when we entered none of the servers greeted us or told us we would have to wait so we just stood around until a table cleared. Good long beer list with many craft brews, especially from around the Twin Ports area. I have had a few of their burgers but my favorite is the Philly. They have a good variety of burgers and a couple that are not your "average" toppings. We usually get fries on the side and they have a whole list of seasonings you can put on them. The food usually comes out pretty quickly. The whole experience is very easy and quick. I would definitely recommend for a casual night out! They also have TVs so if you want to watch sports it is a good place to gather.

I always try to stop in here when Im in town. The food is really good. Nothing to creative or fancy but defiantly a step up from standard pub food. Even when the place is slammed they get your food out and your glass full. Oh yeah and an amazing tap list with lots of great local pints.

Came here last night 5/20 and had the Caprese burger. Returned this morning to get the Southern BBQ burger. If visiting Duluth this is a must stop. Cheap, delicious burgers with fresh cut chips. Great beer selection with 40 different tap brews.

This is our first time here at the TapHouse. By far, one of the best places that I have been to in a long while. The burgers are amazing, the fries are perfect and the beer makes it that much better. Along with my 7West-ern burger I had the beer wontons, amazing, and my wife had also ordered apple fritters for us, those were simply a party in your mouth. With her order she had sugar daddy which was awesome and the fires. We loved every bite. This will be a required stop whenever we come to Duluth.

Once upon a time in the Zenith City, the central core of the downtown strip was a vital community of merchants catering to Scandinavian immigrants. Over the years, the immigrants moved out to the extremes of the street car lines, and the downtown became less vibrant, especially the two blocks east and west of the central dividing line, Lake Avenue. Less than 'reputable' merchants took up position, adult book stores, a blood donor center, small merchants. Those days are gone, as Duluth goes through another renaissance, and new and exciting businesses are filling historical edifices along the main drag, Superior Street. The latest pop-up is the 7 West Taphouse, with 40 craft beers on tap (even some from the craft beer capital of the US - Oregon!), and burgers and melts on the grill menu. The proprietors are vets of other area restaurants, including Grizzly's. Kawikamedia and the Minnesota Burger Posse were there at opening bell. They tried a variety of burgers and fries with dipping sauces. Kawika went with the signature Taphouse Burger, featuring a double up on the beer, jalapeno beer cheese, and sauteed beer onions, with a side of the vinegar and salt fries. Good reports all around. A new bright spot in downtown Duluth.

I think they've got a great craft beer selection and decent prices, but the burgers lacked the flavor I had hoped for with the multitude of topping options available. It's also pretty small and cramped inside, which made it tough for even a group of 6 dudes to grab some hair of the dog and grub the morning/afternoon after a bachelor party. I had the taphouse burger, which the waitress described as having a thousand island type sauce and jalapeño beer cheese. It's a double burger with sautéed onions, but came with more of a Bleu cheese like concoction. I didn't think her description quite hit the mark. I feel like the problem isn't necessarily the preparation, but the quality of the beef. It's like overcooked under-seasoned gray blah that really had no taste to it. The others in my group had the same underwhelmed response to the beef. Not sure what the solution is there. I'll give them another shot, if only to have another crack at those cheese curds!

Loved the Carnitas tacos and the Reuben burger. Also tried the grand Marais Belgian. Great inexpensive eatery!
