Being on the lake is a huge advantage for Moonlite. It is the place to go on the Whitefish chain for nightlife and it has plenty of dock space to park your boat. Its usually busy during the summer months and its hard to find a table on the patio on nice days. The food is average, but the service is the worst. The staff likes to ignore you if you are at the bar waiting for a drink. Not good.

Very bad food and service with high prices (typical up north crap)! But a fun place to hang out and have a couple beers on the patio!

Disclaimer: **This review is solely based on the atmosphere and the nachos.** The atmosphere is fantastic. I don't live near water and this lake makes me really wish I did. Moonlite bar has a great patio to sit and watch the boats and look at the lake. It also has great tv's inside in case it gets too cold or you want to watch a game. Now for the nachos. They were served and I thought "What the heck is this sh*t"as the top had a bunch of unmelted shredded cheese. I thought I was being served a cold, crappy plate of nachos. Boy was I wrong. Underneath the unmelted cheese is layers of absolute awesomeness. Melted cheese, delicious ground beef, lettuce and olives. I was sold. Please don't yell at me if you come here and order something else and have a bad experience. The nachos is where it's at. #boatlife

Moonlight bay has a wonderful view of the bay from the patio. And the beers are cold, when they finally show up. And the drinks are pretty good, if you can flag down a waitperson to bring them. The food is average, and that is being quite generous. Actually, if there were any competition in the crosslake area I would be honest and say that gas stations serve better food. But it's crosslake, where there are absolutely no decent restaurants. Great views, great drinks, bad service, and avoid the food. I wish I could say there were great choices nearby but there aren't. But any other place will have better food. Avoid.

Great patio for the summer time...gets ridiculously busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Good food specials for lunch. A good tip for summertime - call and order your food ahead of time for take out. Pull up on the boat, pick it up, then dine al fresco on your boat!

When I come in from out of town I always look for somewhere with a great view and great food. Though they have a great patio with a beautiful view of the lake, the food and service fell extremely short. The staff was rude and seemed annoyed anytime we asked for help. The food also was not quite up to my standards. I tried the walleye, which had no flavor and the rice wasn't even fully cooked. However my friends had some burgers and said they were very tasty.

This is the third time we showed up with a larger group 14, but we call ahead. Seated ourserves, and were visited by our waitress for drinks. Giving her some she paid attention when each set of guests arrived and took their drink orders. Then the turtle crawl back to our section stated. Orders finally taken, no offer for drink or soft drink refills as offered, even after food came. Maybe she did not like our end of the table! Food was ok, and 5 shrimp dinner contained fore than a 1-2 bite butterfly shrimp. No, we have no idea where they were from. Others at table walked to bar to get drinks/refills and were perturbed. When we finally tracked our waitress down to get checks, it's was a long enough wait to get our cc's back where 4 of us went to look for her and found her bewildered staring at a cc porcessing maching with papers and cc's lying around. She was able to give half of the cards back with a wrong copy of the bill so we each checked our receipt to be sure the right food and cc# were matched. One other visit earlier in year was ok, (not same waitress) albiet with a smaller group 6.

Some of their food is great- like the turkey cranberry wrap, the Reuben, the tuna wrap, and their tater tots. Affordable for lunch, kind of spendy if you get a dinner. Awesome view, and a fun location to boat to.

Drink here, do not eat here. This is where a lot of the locals go, but the service is really crappy and the food is frequently disappointing. If you want the same style of food (burgers, sandwiches, fries, etc.) and the bar, go to the Wharf. (Also, why does it smell like cat pee when you first walk through the doors? Seriously have been trying to figure that out for the past 2 years.)

I love this place! Great view, friendly small town staff. If you treat them like people, you will get respectful service back. It's always jam packed in the summer, so come early! P.S. Try the pizza, it's always spot on!

We absolutely loved this place!! We were told to go here by a waitress at another restaurant, even!! You enter and walk down a big staircase in to the bar area. Nice touch. We had the fried pickles appetizer which was maybe the best we have ever had. The Flying Canoe wrap was fantastic. Pulled pork, slaw and bbq sauce. Yum!! We will be back for sure!

Are you a "Cougar" or a "Cougar Hunter" or want to be hunted by a cougar, then stop by here on a Saturday night. You'll have some good music, a dance floor and middle-aged women that will be on the prowl for some young men to have some fun with. Sure it has a decent menu and it is a great spot to stop off on your tour of the lakes, but if you want to have a rocking good time and fist pump like the jersey shore, check it out on a Saturday night.

They have a monstrous number of sandwiches and appetizers on their menu so, if you're looking for something in particular in the "Americana" vein, you should be satisfied. The interior is spacious and open with a lot of "exposed timbers" in a sort of Northwoods way, which is cool. The service I've had there has been consistently patchy and disappointing, but the parking lot is full so they have to be doing something right. If you're on the chain, they have a lot of ties so you should be able to find a spot.

The food is okay, not great -- bar food is bar food. Worst burger I have had in recent memory...tasteless, overlooked, nasty. Service can be terribly slow on a busy summer day, but overall the staff is friendly. Wish I could rate higher.

I agree with others on this bar-cougar city! When you first walk in, you enter down a staircase into the bar, for alll to watch you appear. I kinda liked it, but my friends thought that was a great way for everyone to rate you before you really even got into the bar area! I would also add that there happened to be a front row section of old men who pulled their bar stools almost to the dance floor as if there was a show going on. They never said a word to each other, just kept ordering beers and staring at the ladies dance, as it if was all for them! I was out here for a bachelorette party at a friends cabin and this was one of the bars on our list to stop. I had been here before in the past, but this really seems to have become the Saturday night dance club of the north! All kinds of peeps come out to play here! Excellent people watching! Some come in their hunting gear and some come dressed to the nine trying to score a date with a rich cabin owner! Only go here Saturday nights if you don't mind being googled by some characters!

Great place to have a cocktail watching the boats come and go. The picture I posted was a 70 degree October day and it was wonderful. Food will be your standard bar food and it's ok. You won't be disappointed if that is what you are in the mood for.

Although this place can come off as your typical bar with typical bar food I.e. burgers, sandwiches, wings, beer, etc. it is easy to commute to by lake and land. During the day it is a family friendly environment with lots of games for kids and menu variety and at night it turns into the best spot on the chain and in the Crosslake area during the summer and holiday weekends for some dance floor action and drinks! Deejays JP and various other talent get the music going while customers meet, drink, and party all night long. A great restaurant and bar for all ages and always a good time. Menu items: Pretzel poppers Canoe wrap Buffalo chicken wings/wrap Burger Bartenders: Will always give you good service as long as you are respectful and show that you are having a good time! Servers: always a young upbeat crowd of women who are there to serve you and take your order Seating: outdoor and indoor both are great, I recommend outdoor if you can get a table, the scenery is great if the weather is fitting. Outdoor and indoor bar service available

You come for the location. The food is all frozen below average bar food.

Came here tonight with my family after a long day on the lake! Our waitress was very nice, but it took quite a while to be noticed. The other waitress kind of ignored us, which was fairly irritating. But I think they were also understaffed. Anyway, server was nice and accommodating. The food was ok, and fairly priced. Ultimately, I might come back to go drinking...but probably not for dinner again! Their menu is delicious drunk food, which is totally fine!

Horrible horrible horrible service. And average food at best. Waitresses like to ignore you.

Great for appetizers and drinks-- the outdoor patio is beautiful, but after being on the lake for hours, the air conditioned bar is very sweet!
