We had originally sought out this place as we were looking for a place to get a pizza in the Eagan area and as it has "pizza" in the description of Yelp...it showed up. Officially, I wouldn't really call this place a "pizza parlor", as their menu just has a couple specialty pizzas on it....but it is a home-style, old-fashion restaurant like you would find in a small town. From a decor standpoint, it's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall....sorta like the restaurants that you see on "Restaurant Impossible" on Food Network. Service was average - and it appeared to be family run - I appreciate that and respect it as it's the backbone of what makes America great. That said, one thing really troubled me - young children (under the age of 10) have no business waiting tables and seating customers. I know they are trying to help out, but at the end of the day I expect professional service in a restaurant - the kids should be kept out of the front of the house for their own protection as well as the safety of the guests....plus, I really don't want to watch cartoons while eating my dinner. After you get past the run-down feeling of the place, I have to say the pizza we ordered was pretty damn good...even though they didn't have all the ingredients that were supposed to be on it. Overall, I think I'll probably try doing take out pizza, but given the state of the interior, I pass on eating in the dining room again.

Went in there as a recommendation from a friend and he was right. Good down home cooking that feeds the soul. Classic diner staff that is pretty fast and the breakfast is great. The portions on some items are more than others though.

Small restaurant with the sweetest older ladies. Good food- family atmosphere. Neighborhood restaurant Definitely worth the patronage.

Saturday morning this place was hopping. Service was fast, courteous, and friendly. Lots of regulars. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Watched as servers cleaned and prepped tables. I was impressed by the attention to detail. J's isn't fancy. It is in a small strip all, next to Star Donuts. It is friendly, homey, and the food is great. The servers had obviously been there a while and were knowledgeable, efficient, and fun. From order to delivery of food was little more than five minutes, and their eggs benedict were prepared tp perfection.

This place is no longer a pizza parlor. That was the old J's, the one I grew up with in Chaska. I never knew that they had 5 restaurants and it turns out that this one is the only survivor. I hope that it stays here forever. The current restaurant is a breakfast lovers delight, the burgers are good, some things are your average not home made foods but they have open faced sandwiches on the menu.. I just wish they called them the "commercial".

Awesome old school family restaurant with great comfort foods and prices. We recently found J's and are very glad we did. Just takes you back to a small town diner.

Another disappointing family diner experience. First off, let me say that the food was EXCELLENT and exceeded my expectations. I had the hot turkey open faced sandwich... and it was exactly what a solid diner meal should have been. Turkey that had been pulled apart, not sliced, perfect gravy (albeit a ton of it), and solidly good mashed potatoes. Second, the decor could use some serious updating, but as a family diner I don't deduct any stars for that. Protip -- if you're into wolves, eagles, deer, etc. (either in the form of paintings or sculptures), mixed with brown leather booths, drab wood paneled walls, etc., then this is your place. But like I said, this could have been a 5 star place even with the decor being as it was, if it wasn't for the service. I'll second the other reviewers' comments about about having kids act as your hostess/server. To her credit, the 10 year old was polite, smart, and much better than her job than her mother. (Upon being seated, she asked if I had been there before. When I told her I had not, she told me that she would let me "have a few moments to review the menu, and then return for my drink order.") It still felt a bit odd and unprofessional though. The official waitress ("Mom") took my order, and immediately returned with my meal. That was the last time I saw her. At a diner, for 5 star service, all I want is - 1. Get me a diet coke, 2. take my order, 3. bring me my meal, 4. check in for a refill/ask how things are/give me my check. Do those things, smile, and you get a 50% tip on my $10 meal. Unfortunately, daughter took step 1., and "Mom" didn't ever come back after dropping off the food. After taking my time (fingers crossed she'd come back so I could tell her how the food was and get a refill on the diet coke) - I realized that she wasn't going to return. So I took my check up front and waited a full 10 minutes before she reappeared from the back room to check me out. Even a that point, "Mom" didn't apologize, ask how everything tasted, or thank me for stopping in. Pretty much printed out my bill before wandering off as I signed my receipt. /sigh Also - as an aside, there desserts appear to be pre-made and frozen (they have a sign with the desserts that appears to be the pictures cut off of the boxes they came in). I didn't have any of them, but it would have been nice to see some homemade desserts advertised.
