Driving through Brainerd, yelped the very few places to eat in this small & rustic town. I was completely happy to have stumbled upon (via yelp) this kitchy-painted saw themed, old diner. The waitress was cuter-than-a-bugs ear. She made us feel kinda like sitting at your favorite Aunts kitchen table, sweeter than ever, and aiming to please! The food was great, i got just a basic breakfast, with a side of their Fabulous pancakes ! I did happen to sneak a peak at the neighboring patrons sandwiches, and they looked nothing short of what your mom would put together in your childhood kitchen. Which i love ! Nothing fancy, just your good ol' turkey sandi. Small little diner, cant wait to make another trek up to Brainerd and stop back in! I didn't try it, but i hear the pie is great !

Brunch buffet was good. Service a bit slow, but overall can't complain. A decent place for a meal that isn't from a chain.

Classic diner feel, warm and cozy on the corner lot. Coffee is poor, but I am a coffee rube. Blue Bunny ice cream, delicious shakes, and a nice looking from-scratch dessert menu. I had the skillet (because breakfast was being served all-day) and it was tasty with Andouille sausage, hash browns, eggs over-easy, and hollandaise sauce (sorry for the misspellings). Overall, a nice meal, good price, on a busy thoroughfare that is State Highway 210.

Good road food. Somewhat of a hometown Dennys type place. Soup was not home made Breakfast items anytime and I would recommend sticking with breakfast foods. Had fish and it was clearly a frozen breaded Talapia. Not bad, but not great.

Salad bar, good burgers and GREAT breakfasts! If you go on Sunday, get the breakfast buffet. It doesn't look like much, but what they do have is great. Eggs, ham, home fries, waffles, pastries...yum! Plus, pancakes cooked to order. Very good!

We thought the food at the Sawmill Inn was excellent. Very homey place, with a friendly chatty waitress who took good care of us. I had the fried chicken--this was wonderful--big portion, deep fried and tasty. The portions were too large to finish--I'll be enjoying the rest for breakfast today. My wife's omelette was very good too--nice and substantial. The kids enjoyed their meals also. Looking forward to coming back to the Sawmill Inn.

We went for brunch on Sunday afternoon while up north visiting my grandma. The wait staff all seemed like they were chickens running around with their heads cut off. Our own waitress forgot half of order and drinks and constantly had to come back and check with what we ordered. My grandma and I both had the sawmill French toast with strawberries using sourdough bread. I was highly disappointed with what was brought to our table as a final product. Extremely thin wimpy pieces of bread with some thick processed strawberry sauce. Boyfriend ordered northern skillet which was only slightly better. Will not be back.

I guess we were there on a bad day! Salad bar needed to be refilled, most items were gone. Waitress forgot my soup. ( all I ordered was soup and salad bar) My husbands omelet came out brown and they were out of the strudel bread. The kids cheese burgers were burnt and soggy fries. My daughter who couldn't eat her burger wanted pie , when we asked waitress what kind they had...... She didn't know nor did she offer to find out!!?? We vacation up in Brainerd often but we will skip this place next time!!!

Nice small town feel. Went for breakfast and food was only average. Service was very friendly.

Their buffet has really gone down hill.. Not to mention then started making their own corned beef hash and they are missing a few important steps.. When you make hash browns you have to rinse them.. And wring them out with a towel, or cheese cloth.. They are missing this step making mushy mashed brown potato cakes. Waitstaff is friendly.. Will no go back, we go there for the buffet and it's gotten worse.
