We had an amazing dinner. We started with a duck enchiladas, they were crispy and very tasteful. Then he had a spinach and caprese salad. Very fresh, it had heirloom tomatoes, and mozarella which it taste like homemade. For entree we had Rib Eye cookEd to perfection. The restaurant design is classic and contemporary. Service was excellent. I forgot to mention, they have a very extensive wine list.

Very nice place for a special occasion or any time for a nice dinning experience.

I have no idea of the food, the greeter was arrogant and not welcoming. The party in front if us had a reservation and the place was half empty. He made them wait 5 minutes at the empty greeters stand then after they announced they were told it would be at least five minutes. (The place was half empty). They asked about the deck (it was a beautiful night) and just said the deck is closed with no explanation. The kicker was while working with them another couple came in and he ignored us, encouraged them to sit anywhere in the bar. Then when we stepped up and asked how long a wait for two he said 30 minutes. This was late on a Sunday. It made no sense, he did not apologize for any waits or offer us a bar seat. Just arrogant and on the edge of rude. We ended up at Ernie's on Gull and had a wonderful dinner on the deck. We upgraded.

A really nice experience! I would give 3.5 stars if I could. A few minor details missed otherwise would have given 4, but I'm basing my rating on the bar area and service, we didn't have the full experience. The view was beautiful and the food was good! We only had an app and two salads. The carpaccio was super cold, like almost frozen (beef is usually frozen in order to cut it thin enough for carpaccio) so I thought it was a little too cold, and under dressed; but all together pretty good! The wedge salad was good but a little lack luster and the blue cheese tasted like ranch; still good, just different! My Ahi Tuna salad was awesome!! Tuna was fresh seared perfectly rare and the veggies were fresh and properly dressed! Loved my Albariño, and though we didn't originally want to sit in the bar it was quite comfy in the large chairs. We will be back to try some entrees next time we are in town!

Finest dining the Brainerd Lakes has to offer. But prices are not in the $$ range.

For up north, this place is definitely 4 stars in my book. Find a spot on the deck with the sunshine hitting your face, order a stiff drink and enjoy the beautiful view. The food is way above average. The service is fantastic. Bigger groups are welcome.

This place has a great ambiance, warm & located right on the water. The 50 martinis & great wine list peaked my interest, but I was disappointed in both fruity martinis I tried. The beer selection was just okay, but the two appetizers we chose to try were pretty awful. The calamari was super thick & actually looked & tasted like fish sticks: gross! The egg roll was nothing special & it was $10 for ONE eggroll. We left after our appetizers & went to Ernies for the remainder of our evening.

If you're looking for fine dining on a lake, it's hard to go wrong with Iven's. I've personally never had a bad meal there, nor do I know anyone who has. The only reason I don't 5 star it is because as somewhat of an individualist I don't find it to have much personality. Having said that, it's still quite an acceptable avenue for gourmet dining, with it's only nearby direct competition being Prairie Bay, and if you are looking to host a large gathering is probably preferable due to it's larger size and availability of private dining rooms.

My first meal at Iven's was right around 2003. I was blown away by the menu choices and the ambiance. The food was great and the energy at the time was a more "summer time fun" and youthful. That was not the case this time around. If you are looking for good food in a fun atmosphere then don't go here. This place has become so stuffy. If you're elderly and can't take too much excitement then this might be right where you want to be, but if not skip it. The appetizers were slightly better than your usually bar munchies, but not by much. We ordered calamari and escargot. My entree was the beef medallions w/ vegetables and mashed potatoes. There was nothing wrong with it, but there was NOTHING special about it either. Salad was the other entree. This meal for two with 1 glass of wine cost - $62. + tip. It wasn't worth it. I'll pass on Iven's next time.

This was my second time here and I would definitely eat here again. Lake view, great service, and food. There was a fix price menu for $25 including a glass of wine. My coworker had the most beautifully presented salad with beets, fennel, and a cucumber sash. I had the tilapia with an heirloom tomato sauce. The crab cakes were just ok. More breading than I prefer. The pork scallops are delicious.

As with many of my reviews we stop at this location once a year on the NHRA circuit and it never disappoints. I had the tuna, another person had the sea bass and one had the devil shrimp. It might have been el Diablo but you get me. We also had the bruschetta, Escargot and calamari for appetizers and they were great. Desert was strawberry rhubarb crumble and it was amazing as well. My only drawback was I wish they had a bigger bourbon selection besides the normal mid level stuff, waitress could have been more attentive and I went to their package store at 8:55 and while they said they closed at 9 they were already closed. Besides those little things it was a great meal and good times.

Mediocre, yet overpriced. Nicely plated, poorly prepared food.My walleye was overbreaded and overcooked, a companion's medium steak was bloody red. Half of the wines-by-the-glass were unavailable and what we sampled was served in the wrong stemware at the wrong temperature. And the service. or as we asked, "what service"? Surly, inattentive, not knowledgable of menu or wines.

This place has been a wonderful place to dine. We have done it with family and friends for 30 years! Our last experience however was tarnished by a lackluster waitress named Jodi. She was minimal at best...she acted like she was being punished for having to work on a Monday evening. I nearly asked for a manager or different waitperson but did not want to embarrass my wife during our special outing. My suggestion for Ivens management is to get her more training for her job...or to have her seek employment elsewhere...before she ruins the experience of wonderful dining at this iconic restaurant ...on second thought dismiss her. She only showed some life as she brought me my check! Have a nice day she grunted then turned and walked away.....very sad .

Fabulous brunch. We went here for Mother's Day and the food was great, and I really liked the way the buffet was set up. It was never overly crowded and we didn't have to wait too long in line for our food. They have a really nice selection of hot brunch food items including a baked french toast, soufflé egg bake as well as mac and cheese, grits, cheesy hash browns, sausage, bacon, pasta, fish, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. They have a carving station with ham. And my favorite, the omelet and pancake station. I have never seen a pancake station at a brunch. Pancakes are definitely best piping hot and fresh so this was fabulous and I really enjoyed the toppings for mixing in and customizing your pancake (they had strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips, bananas and pecans). They also had a variety of desserts and cold salads/appetizers. This is definitely a winner for brunch (plus they had FREE mimosas for moms!!).
