Okay folks...here's the deal...this place is amazing, I mean...seriously amazing. This gem is located in Blaine, right across the parking lot from SuperTarget. It's fairly new, only been open a couple months, but the food and killer. What used to be a bar and grill (from what I remember), has been renovated into a hibachi, sushi and bar. When you walk in, the bar is to your left and hibachi area on the right. The staff is friendly and service is amazing. We had a larger group (7 peeps total) and took up nearly an entire section at one of the hibachi stations. We were HUNGRY and proceeded to order sushi, appetizers and placed our hibachi orders. We ordered... * Kintaro Roll * Ultimate Spider Roll * Caterpillar Roll * Sashimi Tower * Tempura Platter (all veggie) * Filet, Steak, Chicken, Lobster, Scallop and Shrimp Hibachi We learned that the head hibachi chef worked at Ichiban for 30 years and is now at Kintaro - that also includes his recipes, techniques and show style. Starting with the sushi. Amazing presentation, quality ingredients and we learned the proper ways of eating sashimi (meaning things like how much soy and when/how to eat the lemon). The hibachi fare was also excellent, very fresh and cooked to perfection based on diner preference. The steak, chicken and seafood were cooked with precision - the SAUCES are what make this place amazing for the hibachi experience. The yum yum sauce = #money - put that on anything and you're set. The fried rice...which you should be ordering with dinner, don't get white rice...the rice has a great chew, fresh and cooked with fresh veggies. I've been to various hibachi places in MN, this place is in the top 3 - give it a shot and make the trip to Blaine to try it out!

Better sushi than Hajime! Tastes fresher and the presentation is better. It's nice to have the option to do hibachi too.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and I'm glad I did! I sat at the sushi bar as I was alone. Waitress service was great. I ordered the chefs choice sashimi. While I was waiting the chef handed me a tuna and avocado "salad" and said it was on the house. Everything was fantastic! Presented well, tasted great and reasonably priced. I'll be back...

This place was amazing. The workers are very friendly and are very quick on asking if you needed something. The chefs were great! They know how to make the customers laugh and for them to enjoy their meal. I had Mary as a server and she was amazing.

Not worth it if you are sushi connoisseur .. Order sashimi and several roles along with a hibachi filet and chicken. First off the waitress barely spoke English so she got our rolls order incorrect despite pointing to it on the menu and asking her to pronounce it. The raw fish was not fresh! Miso soup was very average. The hibachi noddles were just gross and the vegetables were cold. I was seriously hoping for another great sushi place to eat at in Blaine. But I guess it's not going to happen with this place Time will tell. Maybe they will get better. Or they won't and a new place will emerge.

This is a relatively new restaurant that opened approximately one week ago. We were there on a week night. The interior has been almost completely redone and is done very well. We sat at the sushi bar. We order the sashimi regular and it came out as a sushi regular. They changed it to the correct order. We also ordered two of each hand rolls but only got one of each. The food was good, but not spectacular, but we only had sushi/sashimi items. We understand that it is a new restaurant and there will be some bugs. We will go back and try it again.

Love it ! Got the spider roll and a California roll and it was excellently plated. My friend got the veggie pad Thai that I also took a bite of and it was really good.

All I can say is that this is our weekly date night spot. The food is excellent. Beats all other hibachi competition.

Stopped in on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy so decided to try some sushi. The waitress had difficulty communicating which made it difficult to get the order right. Thankfully a manager came over to assist. The rolls we tried were okay but not great. We tried 4 different rolls before deciding that we needed to try something different. I ordered some simpler rolls (tuna and salmon) and some sushi. They were better than the rolls but my feeling was the fish didn't taste as fresh as I like. I hope it improves as I like sushi and they have many seats as compared to competitors up in this area. As a side note, I could see the hibachi guy across the room and he seemed to be doing a decent job.

Oh my God! It's sooooo far out and in Blaine! And out in nowhere. Chose to go this restaurant for my birthday...try somewhere new...and from all the stellar Yelp reviews....was really looking forward to it... What a let down! The interior and ambience sucks big time...really gaudy. Very unsettling to eat sushi. I like to eat my sushi in a relaxed peaceful atmosphere.... The food WAS good though... but nothing exceptional... and not worth the drive!!!!!

Allow me to open up with a Yelp cliche: I was hesitant to write a review about this place because I don't want it to get too busy (don't get in the way of me and my sushi). But I will be selfless and let you all in on a secret - my new favorite restaurant is in Blaine. Blaine! Kintaro opened up about 3 weeks ago. My boyfriend and I went in to check it out a week or two ago after noticing its new-ness on 65. Our waiter was a cool dude who answered all of our questions and was funny and had tattoos that weren't shitty. The place is large, clean, modern, with hibachi, bar, dining, and private dining areas. We ordered 3 maki rolls, 1 nigiri set, and seafood udon noodles (the bill was under $50!). I recommend... all the things. The udon actually stood out to me because the textures and flavors were perfect. I've been eating a lot of overcooked udon lately, sadly, but theirs was chewy and had generous seafood portions. Our favorite was the sweetheart roll. And the presentation was gorgeous. All of my senses were exploding my head and it was great. We rolled back in as a party of 8 last night. We really love our friends and we couldn't hold out on them any longer. We got that same badass server and I believe it was the manager (or just some super pumped employee) that also checked on us and even offered us free shots (I declined because I work the next morn, otherwise I would be asking for J.Beam and a funnel). Ok so listen to this, the 4 of us that shared food/check got: miso soup, salad, 25 pieces of sashimi (not just pieces, but like, BRICKS. HUGE.), 16 nigiri, 5 maki rolls, 2 beers, and 1 mojito... AND IT COST $26 PER PERSON. And it was all superb and we were overly full. Are you reading this?? Tell the world! I mean, don't tell anyone, don't come here.

I absolutely love this place. Everyone that works here is super friendly. They have a nice patio and the place looks very clean. The food is good and they have quite a variety to choose from. They have hibachi, sushi, and asian fusion. The sushi is really nice cause they use less rice and their rice actually has flavor. The part where my sushi doesn't fall apart is also a plus. Right now, they also have a lot of summer promotions going on that are going on, that's another bonus to my wallet. I highly recommend this place if you haven't been here before!

Went here for birthday lunch. It says Japanese Sushi and Steak House but I felt that it was a lie. Unless you do the hibachi, you can't really order steak. If you are a fan of sushi, you will be happy. There are nice pictures that explain what everything is. I was really excited for the Stella cider. Yep! You read that correctly. Stella. Cider. I had the Thai basil with chicken. I may have expected too much from this establishment. I asked for a spice factor of 4/5 but this was barely a 1.5. I recommended it to my sister who is a sushi fanatic but if you are not, there's very little for you.

Love love love love!!! This Place rocks! Great lunch menu prices. Great food. Great chefs. Don't even waste your time going to the 'other' places! It's warm, inviting and light. The manager is great and welcoming. Very excited to have this close to home!

We got to Kintaro on a Saturday night. We were promptly greeted and then seated right away. It is very large, clean and nice. Our server was very friendly and offered helpful suggestions. The California roll was great! There was a little bit of confusion about what my husband ordered, but he liked what he got. Overall, a great restaurant! We will be back!

I've eaten at this place three times now for lunch and dinner. The service is always great and the food is consistent. Although not the best hibachi in the Twin Cities, the staff is always friendly and I know I won't have a bad experience. I would recommend this place :)

Had a friend cancel our sushi outing for a restaurant down in Hopkins last night but I still needed to get my fix. Once you want sushi, the desire doesn't go away. Called up another pal only to find they didn't like sushi. Dangit. Looked around for a place that had more than just the typical Hibachi/sushi menu and found this place! Read over the reviews and figured it was worth checking out, especially since it was pretty close to home. She and I walked in, classy, dark, clean atmosphere. Bar is straight ahead, hibachi to the right, dining booths to the left. Our waitress was very young, and a bit overbearing-came to check if we were ready to order, came back literally 10 seconds later to see if we were ready again. We had been sitting down all of 3 minutes. Anyhow. I wasn't too put off by that as I was just ready to stuff my face with marvelous sushi. Feeling like little kids we ordered Blue Hawaiis. I started off with the California and the Philly. Two I'm familiar with and could rattle off the top of my head without having time to look over the menu. Rolls were considerably cheaply priced, which my wallet is always a fan of. She ordered orange chicken which was a pretty large serving and seemed to be happy with her dish. I finished off with a spider roll, and was pleased with each of mine. The rice was warm, while everything else was still cold. To me, that's always a great sign. We ordered another round of drinks and dessert-I had the Mango Mochi Ice Cream and she had the Cheese Cake Tempura. Both were very tasty, unique, and fun. I was really pleased with the careful, and tasteful presentation of everything there. Kudos to them. After chatting for a bit the manager, Paul, stopped by to check on us and take any feedback on what we thought of everything. His attitude was so kind and appreciative of everything, and he wound up buying us another round. To have such a great experience at a sushi place close to home ranks high in my book. I'll be spreading the word!!

We stopped in at 5:45 on a Saturday night, because we wanted to enjoy sushi on the patio. There were some darkish looking clouds in the sky, but since we asked for the patio they were more than happy to oblige. No one else was brave enough, so we were the only patrons on the patio! Our server was June, who is cheerful and witty. Our drinks arrived very quickly after ordering them, and our meals arrived quickly as well. I ordered the Rudy Roll, and Spicy Salmon with brown rice. Delicious. This was my 3rd visit, and will definitely be back.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere what else needs to be said? I will say some of the best hibachi food we have ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection and the sauces were amazing. Would return in a heartbeat!!!

We decided to try this since it opened near our home. The atmosphere was very nice, excellent drinks (try the Kintaro Passion), and the service and food quality were fantastic. The drink prices were very good, and the food prices were in line with what you'd expect but not too bad. We are already planning our next trip!

Great sushi! I just moved here from Illinois and was looking for a good sushi restaurant near by. The food and service was perfect! Also, have a really nice patio with a fireplace. I will be back soon!

They did a wonderful job decorating this space formerly occupied by Bricks. The sushi is in my top 5 of the metro. Noodle dishes were great. Service was fine. Bit of a language barrier but I guess that adds authenticity. We'll be back.

Came into Kintaro to try somewhere new. One of the first tables of the day. WORST experience and food my friend and I have had. We ordered the chicken and vegtables. Had a pepper next to it so it's suppose to be spicy, it came out sweet, mushy and only a few pieces of broccoli and not mixed vegtables. Not to mention he was so sick to his stomach not long after eating. I had ordered the Pad Thai seafood combo. Seafood was not fresh and not to mention my food came out as he was done eating. They comped a small amount and since they did that they wouldn't allow me to use my coupon since "they took enough off" Well not my fault you must of forgot to put my food in. I would highly recommend you make the extra drive to a better place such as Osaka or Hajime both in Blaine/Coon Rapids!!

We had dinner here last Saturday night. We ordered the Kintaro roll, a sushi combo and the hibachi for 2. Awesome! The food was excellent, everything was plated beautifull, and our server, Jane, was as nice as could be. Fantastic new restaurant in Blaine!

We went here last night for dinner. We waited for our food for over an hour and there was no compensation given for such a long wait. Food wasn't great when we got it. Won't go back again. Highly understaffed with one waiter for the whole restaurant and he had to be bartender and hostess.

Debated for a few weeks if I should try this place. I've gone past it severals times and it never seemed busy. But I decided to place an order for some apps. Battered rock shrimp, scallops, and egg roll. Shrimp wasn't battered, it was coated with corn meal and the shrimp was flattened like a pancake. Vegetable egg rolls were small with no filling. Scallops were flat like a pancake and had a different grilled flavor that I didn't care for. I probably won't try this place again.

I had plans to get dinner with two friends - both of whom live in the way north 'burbs, so we were planning to go somewhere in their neck of the woods, and I had a real hankering for some sushi. I had suggested paying a visit to Hajime -- another Blaine sushi spot that I've previously visited, but when one of my dining companions expressed a desire for some hibachi treats, we decided to check out Kintaro and get all of our needs met. So yes, this place is in Blaine, which means if you don't live around there, it's a pain to go there. However, if you live in that area or have dining companions who do, then I highly suggest you get to this place ASAP and get your Japanese feast on. Atmosphere -- nice dim lighting, clean and modern look with a sushi bar and separate hibachi area. I thought it had an upscale feel to it -- definitely feels like a good atmosphere for a date or a night out with friends. We had made a reservation, but wouldn't have needed one as there were lots of open spots when we went in on a Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. I blame the lovely spring weather we were having. Service -- We were greeted right away, seated and brought drinks quickly. I was doing sushi and my friends were doing hibachi, so she took all of the orders, and then we waited a short time for our hibachi chef to come over. I don't remember what his name was, but he was awesome! Entertaining but not annoying, chatted with us but let us have our own conversations, and everything he made was delicious. The manager stopped by while we were eating to check how everything was. Then, when we were wrapping up, he came over again with a little glass of wine -- he said he'd noticed we were drinking a red blend and had a case he had just purchased of a really good one he was thinking of having at the restaurant so he wanted us to try it and get our opinion. I thought that was very cool and also thoughtful of him to see what we were drinking and offer us the sample. Thumbs up! Food -- Wine, beer and cocktail list all had enough options to keep just about anyone happy. We all went with wine, which I am pleased to say seemed to be marked up much less than you find it at many other restaurants (we had a nice bottle for $24). Although I wanted sushi, I sampled some fried rice with shrimp sauce, filet mignon and lobster -- ALL SO GOOD. I would say their shrimp sauce is just as good as Benihana. My sushi came out right as their entrees were done. I got an order of salmon sashimi and a rainbow roll. YUM. The rainbow roll was delicious and the salmon sashimi tasted so perfect. Also, reasonably priced -- 3 pieces of sashimi was $5.50 and the roll was $8. Pro tip: if you order sushi but not hibachi make sure to ask for a side of their soy/wasabi sauce that comes with hibachi orders and avoid the annoying task of smushing wasabi around in your soy sauce dish with your chop stick -- they have premixed stuff that is the bomb. All in all, absolutely no complaints about this visit. Everything from food to service was great. If I lived in Blaine, I would be a regular here!!

You can't beat sushi at Happy Hour! And most of the day on Sunday! The staff is what gives this a 5 star . . . the sushi was good and during happy hours super cheap (basic rolls are $2-4 and specialties $8+), loved the seaweed salad, and free dessert with a yelp check in! The young girl helping us was so friendly and was smart enough to not only ask us back, but to tell us she will be watching for us next time. Made us feel like we definitely HAVE to go back.

What a fun experience!! And great food! We had the salmon and scallop hibachi and sushi and every bite was amazing! They were also very accommodating to small children and made a ten year old's birthday experience unforgettable!

I have been here a couple of times because I stay in Blaine, and I would have to say it is quite the nice establishment! It is very clean and modern. The daily specials are incredible and definitely worth a try. The lunch specials are a deal as well especially if you're interested in hibachi. The service is always friendly and spot on especially Mary would is quick on refills. She's very knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. As well, Honda, who was our hibachi chef. Definitely made our experience really fun. The food was good, and the sushi was fresh. Even the simple maki rolls were enjoyable. Would definitely come here again. I recommend anyone who enjoys sushi to make a pit stop in Blaine!
