but, the irony is, it is justa cafe. and a less-than mediocre one at that

This is one of our favorite places. Generous portions and friendly service. This is tops on our list for breakfast in the St Croix valley!

The owners of Not Just A Cafe purchased the old Perro Creek Tavern. They are offering up top notch made from scratch food and I love every morsel of it. My mom is from the deep south and cooks biscuits better than anybody I know---the little gems they have perfected at this place would give her a run for her money. Shut my hole---sorry mama but it's the truth. We enjoyed the mess which was soft tender biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs with some onion and peppers mixed in on a bed of taters. Oh it just made our belly really happy on a Saturday morning. Prices are really reasonable also and the coffee was delicious. I think I will be returning here frequently and so glad it is just over the river and through the woods.

Pie-wise, this started out so promising and then I got to the crust. It tasted like the refrigerator. I notice on earlier reviews the desserts don't get much of a mention. Probably because this is a place of such enormous portions and scads of sauces, it's a challenge to still have room for pie. Otherwise, the place is lovely. The local greasy spoon, complete with wise-ass farmers and pretty, sassy waitresses.

We stopped in at Not Justa Bar (same place just expanded next door)...first impression was very good. The staff was very friendly and made good food recommendations. It was technically past their breakfast, but they happily let us order off the breakfast menu. While waiting for our food we got delicious bloody marys. They were perfectly spicy! The food was excellent. I got the sausage, onion, mushroom mess. It comes with with hashbrowns, cheese and eggs on top. It is now my new favorite breakfast! Overall great food and experience. I will definitely return. I look forward to trying their specials, they look and sound very good!

Tried breakfast here last week...steak, eggs, hash browns and toast. The best breakfast steak I have had for a long time. Everything was well prepared, service was fast and friendly. Be prepared for a bit of a wait if you come in Saturday morning. The place is a bit of a dive, but has great appeal because of the food. I'll be back.

Love everything about it but I had to take a star off for the coffee. I did not care for the coffee I was served. It honestly tasted like someone made cigarette smoke flavored coffee. But on to the good, no great, stuff. I had the Denver Mess with over easy eggs, american cheese, added tomatoes and cinnamon raisin toast on the side. It was AWE-SOME! I would eat this like, every day if I had the chance and also the metabolism of a 15-year-old boy. The hashbrowns were cooked so well with ham, onions, peppers and tomatoes on top, melted cheese and then really well cooked eggs on top. We were told that the bread comes from Bread Art across the street and it was delicious. I will definitely go back! Tips: Cash or Check only, the bathroom is through the kitchen

Just absolutely loved this place. Wandered in around 10:30 on a Saturday - it was busy, but I found a place at the counter right away. The coffee was hot and delicious and the lovely woman serving at the counter set me up with my own pot to refill at will. I had the Denver "mess", which is basically eggs however you want them cooked over your selected toppings (Denver: cheese, peppers and ham - duh) and hashbrowns + some truly lovely sourdough toast. They also gave me some house hot sauce (at least I think it was house...I've never seen the brand before) that was AWESOME. All in all, a lovely Saturday morning excursion in Bayport! Note: they only take cash.

This place most certainly is justa cafe.... I visited this diner at approx. 7am on a weekday morning and there were many regulars sitting at the counter. The place could use some new glassware and a paint job, but the service was friendly and the food was tasty and filling. The walls must be suffocating due to the high volume of tacky signs posted on every square inch. Some are funny... after you've O.D.ed on caffeine. I'd go back, but there is nothing that makes this "cafe" stand our from any other breakfast/lunch establishment in the continental US.

Great bfast and service. Fun greasy spoon in a nice small town.

Hubby and I had their Biscuit's and Gravy Mess! Wow! So Yummy! It all tasted great! There was more than enough to share. The pancake was ok. It's just a giant pancake. Flavor-wise, it wasn't anything special. I would definitely come again.

The people are very friendly. The food was OK. I give it three stars. They did have something really interesting that I wanted to try, it was a Popcorn Chicken Mess Breakfast. If I remember correctly it was 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, onions, cheese, and popcorn chicken all topped in hallandaise sauce. I would have had it but I am kind of put off by fried food lately. Go ahead and check it out and let me know what you think!

As a pancake connoisseur I can state that the NJ has the best and certainly the largest. They are moist and full of flavor. I usually only order 1 along with a side of bacon. Best breakfast value in our area. It's a small town cafe that looks like it did 40 years ago. Go for the food.

Best hashbrowns ever if you get there and a line is at the door be paticant it is worth the wait great value pancakes as big as manhole covers and they taste Great I recomend this for breakfast every chance you get!

As an egg beni addict, I was a little dissapointed in the lack of eggs smothered in egg sauce on top of fresh corned beef hash. But I figured I'd give the chicken fried steak a shot. It was cooked to perfection and thank god it was cubed! My table also tried the pancake, which is as big as a hub cap. The meal was huge, each plate could serve 2 easily. And the prices were great. This place is small, 8 booths only and a diner bar. Short story, 10000 year old couple walk in, and before she sits down, she has her favorite pancakes with whipped cream waiting at the table. SERVICE.

Best breakfast. Small place. They use different coffee mugs with says on them. It's like being at grandma's house.

Best breakfast around! Order a "mess". It's a plate filled with eggs your way, hash browns and your choice of meat and extras all mixed together in a big mess. It's a little bit of heaven.
