I'm a local, and this is the best dinning in town. The best prime rib around, and I eat a lot if prime rib.

This is a family favorite for celebrations. My wife and I ate there in July with my parents (to celebrate my retirement). It definitely met expectations. I had prime rib which I ordered medium rare. The piece I was served was probably a little more done than medium rare, but still tender, juicy, delicious ... and huge. I didn't need that much beef. But what the heck, I was celebrating. My wife and my mom had shrimp scampi, and it was excellent. My dad had walleye, also excellent. (If I hadn't ordered beef, I would have gotten the walleye. Your entrée comes with soup or house salad and choice of potato, wild rice, or vegetable. The service is casual and friendly. The view is terrific; if you can get a window seat as we did, so much the better.

This is the classiest place to eat in Austin. Those passing through or visiting from a large city might not qualify this as five stars (to those who frequent upscale establishments, this place is probably just "average") but for "SPAMtown," this is pretty impressive. Dress nicely and enjoy a whole evening at the Old Mill... I loved the fact that you're not rushed... they really do understand the whole concept of fine dining, at least in terms of time frame... you'll want to plan to be here at least 90 minutes, maybe more. First off, the location - just a little bit out of the way - is quaint and beautiful (when you make reservations, request a table with a view of the river). There are a couple intimate dining rooms and a charming little bar with some really excellent imports on tap (and always changing). Nice selection of wines, as well. Regarding the regular menu, this is more of a steakhouse... their claim to fame is prime rib and it might be the best prime rib I've had in my entire life. Amazing. My dining companion on a recent night was also able to find an amazing gluten-free entree. One drawback (alluded to in a previous review) is that many of the appetizers, and even some of the entrees, are deep fried. A place as charming and classy as this could definitely do without the fried foods we find everywhere else. But I quickly forgot about this when they brought out the dessert tray (why don't more places utilize a dessert tray anymore!?) ... all of the desserts are homemade (and delicious) and you can enjoy them with a wide variety of cocktails or fancy coffees. This is as fancy as it gets in Austin. And while it may not be as classy as a joint in Manhattan, it's pretty reliably solid, and deserving of five stars for this region. Reservations are suggested, especially on weekends or if you want a view of the river.

The food here is solid albeit not spectacular. The deep fryer clearly gets quite a workout given the menu, and it feels like a restaurant with designs on fine dining but they're not quite willing to commit to it. While the food was generally good, the service was unbearably slow. For a half-full restaurant on. Saturday night, I was stunned and how slow everything was.

The food was good, although I ordered a sandwich that was supposed to have cashews and was told they were out (how hard is it to get cashews?), so had to make a different choice. Our waitress was excellent. My biggest complaint with this restaurant was that it is NOT handicapped accessible. My 86-year-old mom made it up the 4 or 5 steps, but the ladies restroom was out of the question. I realize the charm of an older place makes it tough, but this was really bad.

Best option in Austin for Fine Dining. Love going here for special occassions with my boyfriend, i.e, last day of college semester, Valentine's Day, birthdays. Always friendly servers and food (we usually get filet mignon and prime rib) is delicious. Although the price is up there, we enjoy overlooking the dam and the wildlife out the picture windows. Tucked away like a little cabin.

The best prime rib I have had anywhere! An impressive selection of craft beers and imports. Sides were less impressive but suffice. Nice setting on the river, I would go back.

I love this place. Make sure you get the prime rib, it's awesome.

Enjoyed a fabulous, relaxed dinner here. The Crab Cakes, Sockeye Salmon Special, 14 oz Prime Rib Dinner, Wines, Service, was all amazing! Shawn was an excellent server & even took us down to view the wine cellar dining area after dinner so we could see it. Highly recommend this place for any occasion. (Shawn encouraged us to come back for the holidays so we can see it all decorated beautifully then---we will be back!) Cannot believe I have lived in the area this long & had never been here before! A true gem!

just a nice older fine dining style restaurant in austin mn----it does feel dated in the way an older steak house does which I happen to like because it is warm, intimate, and cozy ---it has a very cool view with a big window and you can see the little water wheel . They havea little bar-cocktail area and they were well versed with every drink i asked for and made it with perfection. From cosmopolitians, to chocolate martinis, pink squirrels. The prime rib was huge..

Best upscale restaurant in Austin! While the prime rib is the house specialty be sure to try their home made soup. I usually order the Walleye as it always pleases. They also have a great wine list and very cool wine cellar. You can even host a private party in the wine cellar, ask for a tour. The view of the river and the falls that drove their name sake mill makes this the place to go in town.

I love this place! It's a little bit off the beaten path, but they have a great selection of entrees, appetizers, and drinks. I was there and they were running out of a lot of the desserts on the menu, but otherwise the food is great, and the setting is beautiful - along the river! I've been several times, and it can get crowded. Last time I was there a bus tour group burst out in song!

The nicest place in town to eat. The food and service are always top notch. The only reason I don't eat there more is that it is the highest price option in town.
