I love the charm of downtown Anoka and I hope Truffles & Tortes stays around for a long time. It definitely gives Main Street some class. The desserts are gorgeous and remind me of European pastry shops and cafes. The decor is beautiful, the staff are friendly. This hidden gem is the perfect place for a lunchdate, whether it's with your mom or your best friend. Their raspberry vinaigrette salad is the best salad I have ever had.

Yup. Definitely recommend this place. What a little jewel of a place in a cute little area in downtown Anoka. They had about 5-6 flavors of these little cakes to choose from and of course I deliberated for a while between the caramel chocolate one and the Bailey's chocolate one but went with the Bailey's. Delicious! Could have had a better cake-to-filling ratio (there was very little cake inside, mostly filling). They also had scones and a bunch of delicious looking truffles. The girls working were helpful and friendly.

Found myself in Anoka running errands way too early on a Saturday morning.;shops don't open until 10:00 a.m. ordered a Belgian waffle with bananas for my 10 year old. She was so happy I think she smiled the we whole time she ate it. I had a cranberry orange scone. Amazing. Cafe Americano? Too watery. I am going back for lunch. And a beautiful dessert . Friendly staff as well.

The desserts are 5 star!! The service is 1 star. Workers are grumpy and rude. Thankfully the treats make up for that!

Wish I lived closer to this place! Anoka is a hike from my house in Robbinsdale, but this place is really wonderful. I ordered the mini desserts for a memorial luncheon and they were lovely. Every staff member I interacted with was kind and friendly -from the woman who took my order and gave spot-on advice for how much to get, to the young man at the counter on the busy evening when I picked the order up who was helpful and engaging. I left the composition of the order up to them and it did not disappoint: tiny lemon tarts, mini cannoli, little rich chocolate squares (like a dense mousse on a brownie base), cake pops. Everything was decorated charmingly and super tasty. The prices were extremely reasonable, and the service was great. I wish it was closer to the city! The cafe itself was nice and calm, looked like a great place to meet a friend for coffee or grab lunch after a day of antiquing.

I'm not above saying I make excuses to find myself in Anoka just so I can stop by for a treat. My utmost favorite? The Wild Thing. Banana cake with banana mousse covered in chocolate. Get a glass of milk ready kids, it's like grandma's banana bread on crack.

This place is the bomb diggity of places to go for tasty treats. Several times a year the hubs will surprise me with a tasty little mini cake from T&T, and I squeal with delight every time I see a white box waiting for me in the fridge! I've had several of them, but my favorite is the Concerto (the only one I know the name of too, hah). You will recognize it as the chocolate dome with gold leaf on top. 90% of the time hubs goes to the shop in Plymouth, since it is just down the street from his work. Recently though, my bestie + her hubs came out to visit and celebrate her first wedding anniversary with us and she wanted a small, peanut butter cup flavored cake (to match their wedding cake). I suggested T&T, and she ordered from the Anoka location (closer to our house). We were in and out of the shop pretty quick on pick-up, so I'll leave the description of the inside to other reviewers. I will comment that I think it took longer than it should have to pick up the cake and box up a few cannolis that we picked out from the display. Now, this PB&C cake, OMG. I am generally not a fan of that flavor combo (sad, I know), but this cake, wow. It was moist, chocolatey, creamy, peanut buttery, deliciousness. The 4 of us slayed that sucker, and the bestie even kept a slice in a tupperware to eat on the plane home. I was jelly she didn't leave any with us! While they're not a far drive from us I refuse to make them a regular stop, only because I'd be there every week, and I don't want to look like I go there every week. Besides, leaving it as a special occasion place means I won't get bored of my favorite torte! I think perhaps I will order a cake from there for our next anniversary :)

Excellent service and desserts. I purchased several things to go. The chocolate marscapone cake was delicious. My only complaint is that the cannoli does not have a real cannoli filling. It tastes like it was made with whipped cream and mascarpone. For a whopping $3, I was really shocked. No Italian would call that a cannoli.

I've been here many times and have recieved wonderful and not so good service. The "fancy" desserts are delicious and I've had some great good as well. The down side, often the place is packed way past capsity and it takes forever to order. The last time I was in, I was carrying my baby's car seat with a friend who was also carrying a car seat. We set them down on a table to order. We were both waiting in line with the babies in our arms. After waiting in like for about 25 minutes a worker comes out and starts taking people's jackets and stuff off the tables, saying they were for people who had already ordered. There was physically no way to hold the car seats in that small amount of line space without hitting another customer. Felt it was really rude, and the incorrect way to deal with the over crowding. Again, the desserts are yummy. Just don't go there during lunch time in Anoka.

Came here to have a quiet lunch and make a grocery list. Of course the food was wonderful. A few items they could work on and a suggestion or two. A simple ordering number system would so wonders. 10 tall Stantions with numbers for orders would have made it easier to get my correct order. The employees fixed it quick and efficient but it is such an easy system to have. Of course the dessert was wonderful, cashier was friendly and funny (her first day on the register) awesome job. Come in, grab some lunch or just a dessert. Really comfortable. Only thing couldn't get on internet. But such a small thing. Very nice afternoon out. Thanks!!

My husband and I have stopped by here for lunch several times now and have never been disappointed. The soups and quiche are really the best I've ever had. We are working our way through the deserts and so far every one is delicious. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Small dining area but running in and grabbing a sweet treat for later seems like a good idea to a lot of people, as the traffic even on a Sunday was steady. We really have fallen in love with this place and hope it stays around for a long time.

Food is great. The atmosphere is warm and inviting but the staff is, not so much. They stand there behind the counter waiting for your order. No engagement no suggestions. I am not saying they were rude by any means. Just felt I could not decide fast enough and it was a little irritating for them. I guess I am just expecting a, "Hi how are you! We have....... Is there anything I can suggest to you today?"

When I grew up in Anoka, believe me, there were no truffle shops. Hardware stores. Shoe stores. Burger joints. Yes. Truffles. No siree. Oh. How the times have changed. While vacationing in Minnesota recently, my bro, his beau and I were antiquing in Anoka. Which, btw, has turned into a mecca of antique and thrift stores. Though Main Street was ripped up due to construction much like Joan River's face, there seemed to be a fair amount of foot traffic. I can last about ten minutes in a thrift store. Thankfully, I spotted the sign for Truffles and Tortes, right across the street from what used to be Morrow's Restaurant and a steps away from my first job, Bernard's Furniture (Chief Maintenance Engineer...i.e..duster boy). The joint was jammed. Seriously. Only one outside table was available. I perused the small lunch menu but settled on the AMAZING case of sweets in front of me. The staff was perfectly Minnesota nice in helping with myself and other guests. Describing favorites (red velvet cake cupcakes!) and other such wonders, I was drooling like a gay teen to a Scott Baio poster. I settled on a white chocolate truffle, milk chocolate truffle and hazelnut truffle. Mouthgasm to the max! Spent only a few bucks and left a happy camper. Can't wait to return. Is on my FIRST TO DO list when I move back to Minnesota this November. Who says you can't go home again?!?!

I never write reviews, but felt obligated to do so... Before writing, I quickly scanned the existing reviews to make sure I wasn't being redundant. Although I see a lot of comments/kudos on the food, I'm happy to be able to add something about the service. I visited the store on the last day of a Groupon deal. BIG mistake on my part, but after having to wait 20-25 minutes, I left feeling... happy!! While standing in a very crowded line of about 12-14 people, I was wowed- Waitresses had to constantly squeeze through the line to get to tables, never once seeming bothered. The counter staff efficiently and so politely took and processed orders like pros. Bakery items were replenished in the case right before my eyes. In what could have been a chaotic, harrowing, disappointing situation, I left with my to-go items grateful and content. Thank you, Truffles and Tortes, especially for the amazing dessert I just polished off...

This place is just the type of place downtown Anoka should have. For reals I loved it. Very tiny....maybe 9 tables with two tiny ones on the sidewalk outside. Just a tiny lil cafe. The decor is simple and the help is pretty darn friendly. Like someone else said it's a perfect place for a mom or friend date. My mother and I went and both got a combo. She got a slice of ham and cheese quiche and the house salad which comes with a raspberry vinegarette. She really liked hers. Not being such a foodie as myself she didn't have a lot to say. I got a slice of florentine quiche with hungarian mushroom soup (whatever that means). Man i went nuts for the soup. Usually mushroom soup is really chowdery and missing sizable chunks of mushroom. Not this soup it was thin yet creamy with hearty chunks of mushroom with a bit of a smoky taste, which I am assuming came from paprika.I could have just had that with a baguette and been very happy. My quiche was really good, though I sitll prefer my mom's. The crust could be flakier and the eggs a little more stuff for my taste but the flavor was great. It was perfect for a summer lunch. Light yet hearty. Filling but not nap incuding. Sammiches, soups, salads and quiches are the fare here. I'd like to say I tried some of the desserts but after my lunch my mumz and I were both rather full and thought we would come back to pick one out (the banana mousse and the red velvet cheesecake looked amazing) but we never did. I was too full from the Pure Bliss iced coffee I got from Avant Garde the adorable coffee shop across the street. The desserts all look incredble. They aren't simple little pieces either. They have some fancy stuff up in that joint but they have plenty of cookies and more recognizeable desserts for the less foodie inclined as well. Anoka County gets a bad rap but downtown Anoka really is worth coming out too. There are about 6 different quality antique stores in a 3 block radius, cute botiques and two different shops where the owner takes old furniture and makes something beautiful out of it. I saw many things I wanted the afternoon I spent there with my mom. Go to Anoka, come here, eat lunch, grab a coffee, go shopping then stop off for dessert before heading home.

This is a cafe, and unlike Eileen I didn't expect for them to hold my hand the entire time. The food is good (I've had the/ham and cheese quiche, and the chili) but the desserts are to die for! I have loved everything that I have tried here, and I highly recommend that you check out this gem if you are in the area (especially if you have a sweet tooth!)

If you're looking to indulge a sweet tooth this is the place. Truffles and Tortes has some of the most decadent desserts I've ever sampled. There is little in the world that can top their Raspberry Rhumba. The raspberry mousse is light and fluffy, and is topped with a perfect ganache. The cheesecakes are also fabulous, but the tarts are not quite my style. They're described as having a "sturdy crust." I prefer a lighter pastry crust on my tarts, though the fillings are still tasty. The creme brulee is also good, but though I could see the flecks of vanilla bean, the vanilla flavor wasn't nearly as intense as I'd hoped. If you're headed there for lunch, you can't beat the blue cheese and bacon quiche. I was a bit apprehensive that the bacon and blue cheese would overwhelm the quiche, thinking this flavor combo belonged on a burger, not in a quiche. I was wrong, dead wrong. I'd also recommend their egg salad sandwich. I know, it sounds a bit boring, but when was the last time you had a really good egg salad? Trust me, pair this with their house salad and you'll be thanking me. Beware though, this place is almost always crowded. Even on a Monday afternoon the place was packed wall to wall. Get your lunch to go, and hike on over to the river to enjoy it.

I stopped by Truffles and Tortes this weekend while doing some shopping in downtown Anoka. I have been wantint to try this place for awhile after hearing great things about their desserts. We decided to order some lunch before diving into the chocolate. I had the spinach and feta quiche with their house salad. Both were amazing, but especially the salad. I loved the sweet, raspberry vinaigrette and candied almonds. I wish I could buy a bottle of that dressing. I don't normally order quiche, but there's was excellent and full of flavor from the feta and spinach. On to the dessert. It took us well over 5 minutes to decide what to order. It was a little overwhelming. On any given day, they have about 10 different cakes, plus about 20 different small and fancy looking chocolate desserts, tortes and cheesecakes. We had it narrowed down to three, and ended up ordering a slice of their chocolate bailey's cake. Wow. This cake was AMAZING. The bailey's mouse in the middle of the cake layers was cold and creamy, almost like ice cream. And the chocolate cake was so rich and moist, better than most chocolate cakes I have tasted. While we were enjoying our lunch, a server came around with samples of their apple torte. I love places that hand out samples, especially of dessert! And this apple torte was delicious, served warm with a butter crumble on top and a nice amount of cinnamon in the apple filling. We liked it so much, that my mom bought one to take home. Truffles and Tortes also sells chocolate truffles, as their name implies. I bought one and brought it home to my chocoholic husband. He loved it, and said it was almost as good as his favorite truffles from Chocolat Celeste in St. Paul Can't wait to go back for more desserts!

I have been to this cafe numerous times and each time was fabulous! The desserts are works of art - by their award winning pastry chef. They are large enough to split between two people, but I usually prefer not to share. I've also purchased whole tortes for family events and get rave reviews. The lunch menu is simple - a variety of quiches, sandwiches and salads accompanied with a delicious cup of coffee and sometimes something out of their truffle display. The food and service are excellent and the place is almost always full, even during the middle of the afternoon. I would recommend this cafe without hesitation!

Mmmmmm.... My mouth is watering over this delightful and tasty place. Have you ever been able to eat a ice cream/mint filled truffle the size of half a soup can, and then would have been able to eat another? Yeah, I had that problem! It was soooo good! All of their chocolate covered, mouth watering desserts are amazing and definitely addicting. If you don't like chocolate, they have other desserts there as well. If you are being dragged to this chocolate cafe and hate desserts, well there are sandwiches and muffins and things for you... but shame on you if you didn't want to go to this place! ;) I'm only kidding - kind of. This is a great place to meet your friend to catch up, they even coffee to help you swig that chocolate down. Yum! For those of you who know where Avant Garden is, well Truffles and Tortes is right across the street from it! For an addicted chocoholic, this place is THE place to get your fix and it is all at the right, inexpensively affordable price!

If not for my most recent visit - birthday treats yesterday - I might have kept the 4 stars previously given. As I said before, this is a great place to score a fabulous dessert. They seem to go through spurts where they are out of a lot of things but you can order what you want in advance. Small dining space. Always a steady flow of customers. Often very full. Cute decor but sporadically good service. Hit and miss with the taste of their soups and salads. For me, this place is all about the dessert, but it's nice to have a food option. Why did I take away a star? During my last visit, the place was dirty, understaffed (not because there wasn't enough staff, but the main person in the front was just having a hard time), there were maybe at best a handful of truffles in their chocolate case and not much else, they have discontinued their customer rewards punch card, the atmosphere was really dull, even though there was hardly anyone in the place (my group of 4 and another group of 4 or 5 in the corner) our order took FOREVER to come out. I ordered a Tortellini Soup - guess what - no Tortellini! It was green beans that had lost all color and texture, toooo much dried basil (all just floating on top), some vegetable broth, tomatoes and a small pile of shredded Parmesan as a garnish. What's that all about? The desserts are five star, but seems like they are slipping in other areas. I hope they stick around though - their desserts are amazing.
